Getting Jittery

November 3, 2011 by Julie 83 Comments

Today is a day off from the gym! Ryan and I are taking it easy on the workout front this week in preparation for Saturday’s half marathon. We’re leaving tomorrow morning for Savannah and I am already getting jittery… in a good way!

I started to make a packing list as I prepared breakfast this morning which really got me pumped up.

packing list

I started with the most important running items in my book: My Garmin and iPod! When I really think about it, my number one slot might actually go to my favorite running socks, though my electronics do keep me motivated in a way a pair of socks never could.

Breakfast

Breakfast was good this morning, but not great.

(Why does cheese always look so leathery once it starts to cool?)

I made myself a cheese, jelly and egg bagelwich on an onion bagel and think I finally discovered a kind of cheese that doesn’t work on this sandwich. Provolone. Bleh.

It could be that the provolone that I used had a “smoke” flavor that I didn’t realize it had until I bit into the bagelwich. I still ate the whole thing, but it wasn’t nearly as delicious as prior jelly and cheese bagelwiches.

Today

My mom left from St. Pete this morning to come pick up Sadie for the weekend and help me with some personal things here in Ocala. I’m really looking forward to spending the day with her but need to buckle down and wrap up a project that’s been quite a time suck for the past two days. I want that baby done and sent and out of my mind!

See ya for lunch!

Question of the Morning

  • What is your most important piece of exercise gear (clothing, electronic, etc.)?

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Your packing list looks exactly like mine (love my thorlos) , except I have about 50 more things on the list I started last night. Good luck this weekend. I told Jenny to keep an eye out for you & Ryan. I’ll give Mer a big hug for you when I get to NY tomorrow! =)

Mmm I’d say it’s a tie between my running shoes and my Garmin.. at least for running! If I’m just gyminning it, then I say just sneakers. 🙂

Flattering workout clothing… if the clothing isn’t comfy and I don’t feel good wearing it, my workouts won’t be as good.

I’ll be at the race too! My SIL, two nieces and I are all running Savannah. I talked them into signing up this summer and now I’m probably the least prepared (blame work). It should be a great race!

That is so exciting!! Have fun packing! I hope you have the best trip! And my favorite exercise gear would have to be my ipod. I need music to work out!

Although my Garmin is definitely my favorite piece of running gear, the most critical for me are my running shoes. I always buy the Brooks Adrenalines because they’re awesome and the only shoe that doesn’t cause blisters and fit from the get-go.

I would have to say that a good sports bra is my most important sports gear. Also, good music for motivation!
Good luck with your run in Savannah. I’m from there, but live in New Orleans now. I miss home! Make sure you reward yourself with a praline on River Street afterward!

Mp3 player…I remember one winter a few years ago, I was planning to run 5 miles on the treadmill at the YMCA and my battery for my MP3 player died after about 2 minutes…so I left the gym, ran across the street to the hardware store, bought some batteries, and then continued with my treadmill run.

Definitely my running shoes! With troubled knees, they make all the difference in the world! Add in my iPod + comfy running shorts and a tank top and we’ve got a good run coming! 🙂

Yes! Socks are very important. If I don’t have the right ones… my feet get too hot, then I get too hot, and then I don’t want to run!

Definitely my Garmin! Or maybe ipod. It’s tough to pick! Just curious…are you and Ryan running together or each at your own pace for the race?

The most important exercise gear is def. the pair of shoes in my opinion. Other than shoes, it’s just keeping my hair out of my face and having pants that my butt doesn’t eat HAHA

I just read something the other day that I couldn’t have found more fitting or true. If you are not nervous about an upcoming race, you should be nervous that you’re not. You’ll do great Julie!

I am loving my Sweaty Bands! I used to have problems with hair getting in my face. But I don’t have that problem with those babies! They stay on so well. 🙂
