Since the holidays are on my mind, I figured it was a good time to dive into my first gift guide of the season! Every year I absolutely love curating a roundup of gift ideas to share with you guys that touch on a myriad of categories. I’m kicking off this year’s series with today’s Gift Guide for Moms!
It’s no secret that my mom is one of my favorite people to shop for and I love brainstorming quality gift ideas for her every holiday season. Today’s gift guide includes a variety of gift ideas for moms and mother figures ranging in age from new moms to great grandmothers. I hope you’ll find a gift idea or two for someone you love from the list below.
Happy Holidays, my friends!
Gift Guide for Moms
- Everyday Stylish Sneakers
It wasn’t until I became a mom that I truly began to appreciate stylish sneakers. They’re comfortable and practical and allow me to run around after Chase all day without worrying about my feet hurting! I think a non-athletic pair of sneakers would make a welcome addition to any mom’s wardrobe!
Favorites: TOMS Avalon Sneakers (I wear these all the time and absolutely love them) / Converse Chuck Taylors (the classic – I love my slip-on version) / Reebok Skyscape Runaround (they feel like walking on clouds)
Earlier this year I had the opportunity to work with Legacybox on a sponsored post for the blog and was blow away by the company’s ability to expertly preserve old videos and photos. Legacybox can take photos, audio tapes and videos of any format (tapes, film, photos, audio cassettes) and transform them into archival DVDs, CDs or optional thumb drives. Once they are all converted, Legacybox sends the newly converted DVDs, CDs and thumb drives back to you in a beautiful storage box. I converted a large handful of my family’s old videotapes into DVDs for my mother and to say she was in love with the end result would be a severe understatement. (She actually then ordered her town Legacybox delivery to convert more videos and photos on her own!) I think this would be an incredible gift for a mother or grandmother this holiday season!
Full disclosure: Legacybox reached out to me to sponsor a feature in this year’s gift guide but I honestly was already planning to include them because it is such a thoughtful and unique gift! Legacybox agreed to offer all PBF readers 40% off their order with the code FROST through December 31. Enjoy!
- Planner / Organizer
Is it just me or are more and more people reverting back to old school planners? I made the switch two years ago when I kept forgetting about events and overscheduling myself because I wasn’t looking at my weekly commitments everyday like I used to do when I kept a planner/calendar on my desk. Now that I have a calendar, I feel more organized and on top of things! I love my Emily Ley Simplified Planner (I’m a sucker for the beautiful pineapple print) and highly recommend it for those who love a gorgeous calendar they can actually touch and write in daily.
Favorites: Emily Ley Simplified Planner / Etsy Personalized Planner / Bloom Daily Planner / Erin Condren Life Planner (You can customize this planner and it’s absolutely stunning!)
If there is ONE addition to my wardrobe that I get the most compliments on from my mom friends it is my ROOLEE moto leggings. I’m not lying when I say at least eight of my girlfriends have purchased these leggings after I raved about them and now it’s a bit of an ongoing joke because one of us will inevitably be sporting them whenever we hang out. If there’s a mom in your life who is looking for a comfy pair of leggings that don’t look like traditional leggings (they look much more like denim), I think a pair of these moto leggings would be a very welcomed gift! They come in a variety of colors but my favorite is the olive green since I feel like it goes with absolutely anything.
- Monthly Flower Delivery + Unique Vase
Sometimes I struggle to know exactly what to get my mom, mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law because I feel like I’ve already exhausted a lot of my usual gift ideas through the years. That’s when a gift like this comes in handy! I’ve gifted a Blue Apron meal delivery in the past but I think something like a flower delivery subscription would be such a nice gift that keeps giving throughout the year! Bouqs.com offers a variety of flower subscription delivery options (you can do weekly, monthly or customize how often you’d like flowers delivered) and I think a gift like this paired with a new unique vase (Anthropologie’s vases are gorgeous!) would be such a treat, especially for the hard-to-shop-for moms out there!
- Pottery Painting (with You!)
I love giving my mom experience gifts (in the past we’ve had a blast visiting a local winery and enjoying a fancy afternoon tea together) and I think that the crafty moms out there might enjoy a visit to a local pottery studio to paint assorted pottery with loved ones. Bonus: Paint your mom a mug or a tumbler for them to keep after the class!
- Children’s Initial Jewelry
Call me a sucker, but I think any piece of jewelry with Chase’s initials on it would be the most wonderful gift! My sister gave me a gorgeous necklace with a cross and the letter C on it from Etsy last year and it was one of my favorite Christmas gifts! Etsy makes it so easy to personalize anything and there are so many gorgeous options out there from delicate gold necklaces, dainty rings, bracelets and more!
Favorites: Stackable Initial Ring / Initial Ring with Birthstone / Cursive Initial Ring (very affordable!) / Initial Ring / Cross Initial Necklace / Tiny Sideways Initial Necklace
- Comfy Lounge Pants
If there’s one thing I wear more often than leggings when I’m at home, it’s cozy lounge pants. And, much like slippers, lounge pants are one of those things I’m convinced I can never have enough of in my life. Rather than a traditional pair of pajamas, consider treating a mother-figure in your life to a comfy pair of super-soft lounge pants this year!
Favorites: GAP Pure Body Joggers / J.Crew Dreamy Pants / Jogger Pants / Lazy Morning Pants
- Stitch Fix Gift Card
I’m pretty sure I’ve included this in almost every gift guide I’ve done because it’s always such a hit with my mom! For the past few years, I’ve given her a Stitch Fix gift card for Christmas and absolutely love receiving picture texts from her when her deliveries arrive. She seems to really enjoy selecting some gorgeous clothes from her boxes and has fun communicating with her stylist to help her find some new fun items every month. If there is a mother in your life who loves clothes but isn’t in love with shopping (or doesn’t have time to shop!) a Stitch Fix gift card might be a much-appreciated surprise!
Additional Gift Ideas
- Recreate and frame a favorite childhood picture
- Gift certificate for a massage or mani/pedi
- Luxury candles (I love Volcano Capri Blue and Rewined)
- Meal delivery gift certificate (Sunbasket has gluten-free, Paleo and vegetarian options)

- New diaper bag (I love this diaper bag backpack so much!)
- Mommin’ Ain’t Easy t-shirt

- Nail polish (My current favorite shade is Essie Petal Pushers)

These are all great ideas. I always struggle with what to get my mother-in law and husband’s stepmom.
Julie says
Me too! I do feel like gifts like candles, framed pictures, scarves, etc. are good standbys!
Rachel says
I really appreciate this post! You have a lot of unique ideas, like the subscription services and experience gifts. Thanks!
Julie says
Thanks, Rachel!! And experience gifts are the BEST!!! Ryan and I both say we tend to forget about the material things through the years but the experiences always stick with you! <3
Sarah's Book Shelves says
Just ordered some of those leggings for myself!
Gina B says
I LOVE those moto leggings! Can you tell me about the sizing? I typically wear a size 27/4. Thanks!
Julie says
you’d probably be a small! i am a size 6 in pants usually and i wear a medium!
Julie @ Running in a Skirt says
Such fun gift ideas! I don’t have a kid, but I’d sure love those tennies and leggings!
Brynn says
I’m planning to do the Legacy box for my mom. She has so many photos and old videos that we never can enjoy. I know she’ll love it!
Mrs K. @ Mrs. Kringle's Kitchen says
Excellent ideas! I’m so intrigued about Legacy Box but nervous about sending that stuff (especially videos). I need to get over it and bite the bullet on that one!
Julie says
it’s honestly amazing! my mom was seriously so excited about the videos and we’ve loved all the DVDs they sent back!
J says
What do the back of the leggings look like? The website doesn’t show it. We saw some similar at a store on Black Friday, but the combination of the cotton like material and narrow elastic waistband made the back look like mom jeans.
Julie says
the don’t have any pockets in the back. because of the elastic waistband/no pockets, i always wear them with a longer top!
Jessica @ Semi-Sweet Tooth says
LOVE the idea of a monthly flowers subscription! I’ve been struggling with what to get my grandmother, as she prefers to not get “stuff.” I often donate in her honor, but a subscription is a perfect way to send something that says “I love you” on a regular basis.
Thanks for the tips!
XO, Jessica

Such a great and helpful list!! I want it all!!! Being a mama of 3, I totally agree with the sneakers as a wardrobe staple and it helps that they are cute! I wear my converse with everything from jeans, jeggings, to casual dresses.
I love your style and it’s great inspiration for moms on the go.
Julie says
Yes!!! And thank you, Heather!! 🙂
Annie Kreikemeier says
Such an awesome list, Julie! Do you think those leggings would work for someone who is 5’3? Or are they pretty long? Thanks!
Julie says
I’m 5’8” and they hit me right above the ankle. I actually have really short legs for my height though (I’m all torso) and my friend Melanie who is very petite has them and loves the length!
Annie Kreikemeier says
Thank you so much!
Bethany says

Thanks for sharing Julie!

Polly says
I recently got a paper planner for the new year too, and I’m type that usually does EVERYTHING electronically and try avoid using paper as much as I can! lol. However, I find that writing things down has helped me be more organized and productive.
BTW- I love that “Mommin’ ain’t easy” shirt! I need one of those!
Heather @ Polyglot Jot says
Great ideas! I love the idea of recreating a childhood photo–so cute! Experience gifts are the best–i got my mom tickets to a show for her birthday and we made a whole day of it together!
Lynn @thenotdeadyetblog says
I really like the Legacy Box. I’m thinking about doing that for both sets of grandparents this year.
Natalie says
Why do I think this guide is a big hint to Ryan?! 🙂
Love the leggings. I still need to check out if they ship to Europe!
I use both a planner (diary as Brits call it) and my phone. My phone for reminders for my diary or things I mustn’t’/can’t forget. My week’s planned on paper with a weekly shopping list (non grocery), a weekly to do list I break down and reminders on my phone for urgent things!
Shelby Adams says
I am obsessed with anything that has my daughter’s initials on it! This is a great guide, Julie!
Claire C says
Hi Julie! Great guide! Where is the stackable initial ring in the picture from? The link associated takes me to Erinconden.com but that site does not seem to sell jewelry. 26 weeks pregnant with #2 and my wedding bands are getting tight so looking to get stackable rings in a size up as replacement for a few months.
Steph says
This is a great gift guide, Julie! I am seriously considering a flower delivery subscription for my grandmothers and mother-in-law, and looking into Legacy Box for my parents. Your guides are always on point 🙂
I’m not even a mom yet and want most of this stuff! LOL!
Julie says
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you find them them helpful!! <3
