Gift of the (Non)Irish

March 17, 2011 by Julie 45 Comments

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I hope you’re wearing green today and look like a beautiful version of Slimer. 😀 You better believe I busted out my St. Patrick’s Day t-shirt!

Workout

My day began with an easy workout. I awoke still feeling congested but after doing 50 minutes of light cardio on the elliptical while talking with my friend Merri, I actually felt better. Maybe I just needed to sweat it out a little bit?

Breakfast

Breakfast this morning looked extra festive thanks to my mama! A gift from the (non) Irish! 😀

St. Patrick's Day Breakfast

My sister actually arrived in Orlando yesterday for a dinner event with a company downtown. She arrived at our apartment late in the evening and spent the night with us. Today she has an interview with the same company, but I should get to spend more time with her tonight (if her homework doesn’t get in the way). Woo!

Anyway, my mom has an appointment in Jacksonville today and swung by our apartment this morning to drop off some stuff for my sister. She also arrived with St. Patrick’s Day decorations which naturally made my breakfast look oh-so-festive!

PB + Nanners

Today’s breakfast included a peanut butter and banana bagelwich topped with nutmeg and served on a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel thin.

I love using frozen banana slices on this sandwich because they taste so cold and creamy! Plus, they ooze out the sides which is fun because I love licking up the banana goodness.

Banana Ooze

This breakfast, coupled with seeing my family bright and early has made this St. Patrick’s Day a great one so far!

Plus, I can’t wait for corned beef tonight! (It’s one of my all-time favorite meals.) I prepped the meat in the crock pot this morning (using the same corned beef recipe I used last year) and can’t wait to dig into it this evening.

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Happy St Patty’s day Julie! Looks like your morning got off to a delicious start. I’ve never had corned beef before, and for the past 4 years or so I haven’t been a big red meat eater, but I hope you enjoy it! 🙂

Hey Julie…a bit off topic but I have a post “request” or suggestion.
Would you mind posting on the topic of self esteem and comparing self to others (rather, how to not to do that!)? You seem to have such a great outlook on life and have a strong hold on your self esteem without worrying what others are doing/saying. I just find it hard sometimes to not compare myself with others (in the gym, eating habits, lifestyle choices in general) even though I try to remind myself that what works for one doesn’t work for me or anyone else and we are all on our own “path”. Anyway, thanks! And keep up the awesome blog!! Happy st party’s day!

Yes I second this post request!! I would love to know your thoughts on this as well Julie….I’d also like to add in if you’ve ever experience naysayers at work about your healthy lunches? Since you eat at work I’ve wondered if you’ve ever had to deal with that? I always get comments about it at work….ugh! Thanks Julie, love your blog and happy st. paddy’s day!

Random St. Patty’s Day news – they are making The Hunger Games into a movie! Maybe you already knew this? I figured they would make a movie out of it eventually because it has such a dramatic plot. Not sure if you’ve seen Winter’s Bone, but they are trying to get the lead actress from that movie (Jennifer Lawrence) to play Katniss. I think she’s great! Here’s an article about it from nymag. Enjoy!
