Early this afternoon, I headed out to a Taste of Ocala committee meeting. We discussed room layout, sponsors and beverages and the 90-minute meeting passed quickly.
On my way back to our house, I popped into a local alterations shop because a dress I am getting altered was supposed to be ready to pick up. Unfortunately there was a communication mix up between the person who took my order and the woman who was supposed to do the alterations, so my dress wasn’t ready, but the trip wasn’t a complete loss.
Girl Scout cookie season is upon us!
I made sure to buy a box of Caramel deLites (aka Samoas, but I will forever call them Caramel deLites) and Thin Mints before driving home. The Thin Mints immediately went into the freezer because frozen Thin Mints are the best! When I was growing up, my family always had a box of Thin Mints in the freezer and I loved crumbling them up over ice cream. Such a yummy treat!
Lunch
When I walked through the door, I immediately grabbed a small apple to eat as I prepared my lunch.
As for my main meal, I made myself a big salad and served it with a cup of Chobani Greek yogurt.
And you better believe I made my salad in the lettuce container to eliminate dirty dishes. Yes!
Question of the Afternoon
- What kind of Girl Scout cookie is your favorite?
- Do you call the cookies with caramel, coconut and chocolate Caramel deLites or Samoas?
- Were you ever in Girl Scouts?
Samoas are the best! I still call them Samoas. Caramel delites doesn’t do it for me. Frozen thin mints are the best, but I forgot to get some this year. Peanut butter patties are also my fave!
check out my post today about running in warm weather vs. cold weather

Frozen thin mints are the best! I look forward to the Edy’s thin mint ice cream every year.
I don’t like girl scout cookies. If I HAVE to have them, I’ll eat the shortbread cookies. But I’ll let you have mine 🙂
i accept! 😀
I recently found out that in the US there’s quite a few kinds of Girl Guide cookies. In Canada we only have two.
I remember having to sell them as a kid, and dreading it every year. I’d definitely not a salesperson.
Thin mints frozen are the best! I also love the Samoas. I wanted to try the Savannah Smiles since they are on the newer side, I think? The little girl I bought them from a year or two ago wasn’t selling the Savannah Smiles yet.
Frozen thin mints are my absolute fave. They’re actually really good in milkshakes!
Never thought of that one! Going to have to try it out. Just another excuse to buy more cookies 😉
I can still site “On my honor I will try to serve God and my country, to help people at all times, and to live by the Girl Scout law.” I don’t think I’ll ever forget that.
I had always thought that my mom put the thin mints in the freezer to hide them, but they are just better that way.
i remember it word for word, too! 😀
Caramel Delights/Samoas and Thin Mints are my favorites! I picked up two boxes last weekend–girl scout cookie season is the BEST. I was actually a Girl Scout for six years! I think my old vests (covered in patches, of course) are still in my closet. I was never too great at selling the cookies…I preferred to eat them instead. : )
I love Samoas! I never knew they had different names in different regions until I moved to Kansas City, MO and ordered some from a friend. These are also amazing it the freezer and I like to put them on top of vanilla bean ice cream for an extra special snack. Although I was never a Girl Scout, I appreciate their cookie sales ever year even if that means a couple more miles every week to burn them off 🙂
Thin mints all the way!
my favorite girl scout cookie is the tag-a-long. chocolate and peanut butter – YUM!
Tagalongs and frozen thin mints are my fav! I need to get out and get some girl scout cookies NOW!
Thin mints are the BEST! No question!
I think I could get kicked off the internet for this statement…but, I’ve never ever had any sort of Girl Scout cookies! Never. I have no idea why this is, I think it’s because I was so picky as a kid I just never ate any candy. None of that stuff appealed to me. If they were selling white bread I would’ve eaten it though;)
The best Girl Scout cookies are the Samoas! Thin Mints in the freezer come a close second!
I used to be in Girl Scouts many years ago… But my favorite cookies are the Tagalongs and Samoas, love them so much I can’t even keep them in the house!
Tagalongs (better known as peanut butter patties) are my favorite, my krytonite. I love them right out of the fridge!!
My Thin Mints are already in the freezer!!! And they will always be Samoas to me!
I have always been a huge thin mints fan, but I just opened a box of Savannah Smiles and they are DELICIOUS. I enjoy the lemon flavor. I think I will pair them with hot tea and pretend I am in Downton Abbey….just kidding, maybe. 😛
Thin mints are definitely my favorite! Good idea to put them over ice cream…I will be trying that in the very near future! 🙂
Tagalongs! Chocolate plus peanut butter how can you go wrong?! The boxes have changed since I was a Girl Scout back in the day. My mom still buys me a box or two for my birthday every year 🙂
Tagalongs are by far the best! Caramel DeLites are a close second.
TAGALONGS ALL THE WAY!!! 🙂
My absolute fave are lemonaids! Just the right amount of lemon- yum!
I have to say though- I find it really weird that different areas of the US have different cookies that are available, and some of the same cookies have different names…. Just my two cents 🙂
I never knew they were called Caramel deLites! News to me!
A friend of mine is the troop leader for her daughters so last year I purchased EIGHT boxes of tagalongs (for my boyfriend) and a box of samoes for myself.
Thin mints in the freezer + caramel delights are my fave! we are girl scout cookie soul sisters!
Thin Mints are my favorite hands down!
I just picked up all 8 for a tasting! Of course, frozen Thin Mints are my favorite.
LOVE Girl Scout cookies! My top favorites are the Samoas, Tag-A-Longs, and Thin Mints!
tagalongs and thin mints for the win! 🙂
Those are my favorites too! We call them samoas by me, but no matter what they are called, they’re the best! Frozen thin mints were also a staple in my house growing up, and we never ran out thanks to my childhood long girl scout status 😉 In recent years, I’ve also become a fan of tagalongs. I just can never get enough peanut butter!
Caramel Delites are my absolute favorite! I could eat half a box in one sitting, if I didn’t watch myself!
Thin mints are the BOMB diggity!!
I am convinced that Girl Scout cookies are pure evil…in a good way! 😉 My favorites are Do-Si-Dos, Tagalongs, and the Shortbread cookies!
I love girl scout cookies!! My favorites are frozen thin mints! I do love all of them though, I must find someone in the Lexington area who is selling them!
In Ireland I was in the “Girl Guides”…I didn’t last long though, I was never one for sticking with clubs when I was younger! I think it was the lack of cookies..had there been cookies I might have stayed!
Tagalongs! By far the best, how can you not like peanut butter and chocolate?! But thin mints are a close second.
I still use my brownie vest, covered in patches, as a back up halloween costume when I need one last minute!
Love the salad out of the container. I’ve done that myself a few times!
I love frozen thin mints too! 🙂
Thin Mints right out of the freezer! We also like Trefoils (I make crusts out of the, dip them in chocolate, and sandwich them with peanut butter depending on my mood!) and Do Si Dos.
We have Samoas here. Never buy them…nobody in my house likes coconut.
I was never a Girl Scout. That amazes my girls (both of whom are Scouts). They can’t understand why Nana didn’t sign me up, especially when *she* was a GS way back when.
Frozen thin mints are the best thing ever! I also love tagalongs!
Thin mints all the way! The peanut butter patties are a close second. My husband usually gets them from a coworkers daughter but she’s not doing girl scouts this year 🙁 Luckily, they sell them at in front of just about every grocery store.
They are forever Samoas and Tagalongs. I was so sad when they changed the name! I LOVE girl scout cookies. It’s hard to keep my husband away from the thin mints!
I was a girl scout…a top selling cookie one! 😉 I call them caramel delites, but I don’t like them. When I was an elementary school teacher, I felt like I had to buy a box from each girl scout in my class. My favorite was the peanut butter patties. I would hide the box in my desk and eat them all day. I’m ashamed to admit that I have eaten an entire box in one day. Luckily, I was a skinny 21 year old at the time. I could never do that today. In fact, I don’t buy that kind of cookie for fear that it would happen.
I love taking two frozen thin mints and putting a spoonful of frozen fat free cool whip in between for a makeshift (and sensible) ice-cream sandwich. so good and satisfying!
1. Mint for sure (frozen).
2. Always and forver caramel delights
3. Yes,throughout elementary school (“brownies”I believe they were called) and middle school. Ahhh.. memories…
Smart thinking with the disposable salad bowl! I love Girl Scout cookies. I grew up calling them Samoas but they call them Caramel Delights where I live now. Whatever the name they are the best cookies ever!
I have a thing for chocolate and peanut butter so taglongs are my pick! But thin mints are amazing too. Especially crumbled on ice cream. 🙂
I was a brownie for years, but we only became girl scouts for the bridging ceremony. Our troop leader had to quit and no one wanted to take over, so they had has do the bridging and that was it! We had a blast though. And I always ordered the peanut butter ones and the thin mints!
