Good sleeps were had by every single member of the Fagan household last night.
On our drive to the gym this morning, I commented that I slept like a rock last night and Ryan said he slept like a log. Sleeping like an inanimate object is always a good thing!
We agreed that Sadie must’ve slept well, too, because neither of us remember her moving a muscle.
She’s wide awake now, of course. It’s Monday, or, as Sadie would call it, the BEST DAY EVER because every day is the best day to her.
Workout
Late last week, participants of Tina’s Best Body Boot Camp were emailed the workouts for weeks three and four of the program. I jotted down the workouts last night and headed to the gym this morning ready to tackle a lower-body workout.
The workout incorporated five minutes of cardio between supersets of various leg exercises.
I am really enjoying the boot camp program because it’s introducing me to completely new exercises I’ve never tried before, like the surrender squat.
Starting on your knees, you simply stand up and lower yourself back down onto your knees and repeat, leading with the same leg until you’re done with a set and move onto the next leg and do it all again. (Watching the YouTube video makes a lot more sense!)
I did the surrender squats while holding two dumbbells and Ryan was working out nearby and called over to me, saying, “That looks brutal.”
It was challenging, but in a great way and I could feel not only my legs working, but my core stabilizing my body as well.
I also really like how the boot camp seems to include a lot of moves you can do at home with a simple set of free weights. I like no-fuss workout!
Speaking of no-fuss, if you workout at home and are looking for some sweaty workouts to tackle in your living room, you may be interested in a previous post that popped up on the blog about At Home Workouts that require absolutely no equipment… not even free weights! Love ‘em!
Breakfast
When we arrived home, it was time for breakfast.
Egg sandwiches for all!
1 whole wheat English muffin + 2 fried eggs + muenster cheese + raspberry jelly
And now to touch on the big event from this weekend…
Goodbye, 4Runner
This weekend a big decision occurred in our family.
We sold Ryan’s 4Runner!
The whole situation happened very quickly last week.
My mother-in-law’s boyfriend, Les, bought a new car and wanted to sell his old truck. Les knew Ryan was in the market for a vehicle just like his and made him a very attractive offer.
Les kept his truck in fantastic condition and it had low mileage and Ryan was smitten from the minute the offer was placed on the table. Ryan and I discussed the decision and it made sense financially, so we started to think about selling Ryan’s 4Runner.
Ryan knew my sister’s boyfriend Ross might be interested in his 4Runner since his current vehicle had a long list of serious problems.
So, after a lot of paperwork, a lot of driving and two fast swaps this weekend, Ryan’s 4Runner is gone and we have a new truck!
As Ross drove off with Ryan’s 4Runner last night, Ryan and I were a little emotional. Saying goodbye to a car you’ve had for years is a little sad!
Ryan’s 4Runner has been with us through three moves, an engagement, a wedding, picking up puppy Sadie, several road trips and vacations and a lot of fun. We’ll miss it a lot!
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
Congrats on the new car! Getting rid of a new car is always hard but think of all of the new memories you will make in the new truck! 🙂
Breakfast looks tasty as always!
Nicole says
So where is the picture of the new truck????
You hit on one reason I like working with a trainer. He teaches me new moves to do that I can replicate other times during the week!

no pic of the new truck. i keep pics of our cars off the blog for safety reasons. same reason i don’t post the outside of our house! 🙂 https://www.pbfingers.com/2011/08/02/blogger-safet/

Guess ross is just assumed Safe then??
peanutbutterfingers says
I don’t blog about Ross’ hometown or his last name I do with me and Ryan.

Surrender squats look brutal! It’s amazing how much you can work out without ever needing a gym. I think a lot of people feel like they have to join a gym to get fit, but it is totally possible to complete great workouts at home!
SweatyGirl says
Its funny how cars become a part of the family!
I’m sure he has a nice new mom & dad now 🙂
Denae says
We have a 4runner too. Love that vehicle!!! Hope you enjoy the new vehicle just as much and create wonderful memories with it as well!! 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
i’m going to miss the 4runner! i really, really liked it a lot!

Oh my gosh! We just went through this last weekend. My husband had a chevy tahoe, and we sold it to buy a smaller, more fuel efficient car. But, I’ll miss the tahoe. It was big and comfy to ride in. Plus we picked our puppy up in it, moved twice in it, and have taken many trips in it. It even smelled like him. It’s funny how emotionally attached we get to our cars! I told my husband that when it’s time for me to get a new one, he’ll have to pry me off the steering wheel. I love my honda! 🙂
Mallory @ Have Your Cake says
haha i am an idiot. i was definitely thinking you were gonna say your garmin forerunner broke or you had decided to not run anymore or something.
peanutbutterfingers says
hahahhahaa i love it!
Erin says
Mallory- I thought the same thing! I was like NOOOOOOOO, and then saw that it was “4” not “Fore” and felt like an idiot… not enough coffee yet this morning 😉
Jana @ Newly Wife Healthy Life says
I actually was a little teary eyed when I sold my mustang! I absolutely adored that car and I will never forget how I felt when I got it when I was 16! It’s funny how attached you can get to cars and how many memories are involved!
Katie says
Fun! I just traded my old car in for a new one this weekend, too! It was very difficult to give up the keys to my old Jetta. 🙁 I didn’t think it would be as hard as it was!
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
We saw a dog that looked just like Sadie this weekend, and I immediately thought of you guys. 😉 Of course, I’m sure that dog has NOTHING on the amazing Sadie!!
peanutbutterfingers says
awww i love seeing vizslas!!
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says

Kristin says

This Fit Chick says

Kaitlin @4loveofcarrots says
aw its amazing how cars become a part of the family! But at least it is still still in “the family” it is now with a good friend, so you still get to visit it! 🙂
Heather says
so sad! we love 4runners, we have two of them, my dad has one, and my sister has one. Slightly obsessed. 🙂
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I was going to start workout A this morning, but after my 12 mile run yesterday I decided my legs are so not in the mood for all those lunges and squats! Nice long walk for me today. Ps that sandwich looks amazing!
JudyD. says
Ryan’s moms’ boyfriend CHARGED him for the car? That is . . . peculiar.
peanutbutterfingers says
i would think it would be odd NOT to charge someone for a car. it’s a very expensive purchase and, financially, none of us are really in the position to give a car to someone else. if someone is in the position where they can give away a car, that’s amazing and more power to ’em!
mel says
I am hopefully buying a suv from my grandfather next year. I would never allow him to give it to me. He bought it and I want to buy it from him. He is not a millionaire! haha. Julie, I have had my jeep for 11 years…ever since I got my permit. I’m going to cry my eyes out when black beauty goes.
Sarah says
I can’t believe someone finds it peculiar that someone is charging for a car regardless of if it is from a family member. If Ryan’s mom’s bf traded the truck in when buying the new car, the dealership wouldn’t have given him how much the car was really worth. I am sure that he was cut some sort of deal, but a vehicle is not something you really give away!!
Amber K says
I have to admit it seemed odd to me at first, but then I remembered not everyone has a cousin with a towing yard. Then again this is why I’m always driving clunkers with lots of problems, but I’ve never had to pay for one. We are certainly not the norm!
Hillary says
I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets sentimental about material objects. When my brother and I got rid of our first car (we shared it), I was kind of overwhelmed. That thing was my baby!
misszippy says
We used to have a 4Runner also, and we loved it–hated to see it go.
I just love Sadie–so darn cute!
Melissa @ Some Sugar Added says
My husband Matt has that exact same 4 Runner! We are thinking of trading it in this year too for something more efficient, but we’re having a hard time letting it go 🙁
Elizabeth @ Chocolate Drops and Pearls says
I totally know what you mean! I had a little Volkswagen beetle that was my first car. I learned how to drive in it and had so many memories it was tough to say goodbye!
But just think of all the new memories you will make with the new truck!
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
Isn’t t crazy how cars can make us emotional?! I had the same thing happen when we said goodbye to one of my boyfriends cars – it’s emotional to think of all the things that happened with the car you’re saying goodbye to!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
The surrender squat DOES look pretty brutal! Going to try it on Thursday in my leg workout this week. And I know what you mean about getting rid of cars! I got a new one last summer and although I love it, there’s just something about your first car that makes it difficult to say goodbye to. I bet you guys will have many more memories with the new truck though!
Krista @ A Belle in DC says
I’m going to add those surrender squats this week! They look brutal, but effective. I always cried as a kid when we got rid of the family car. Congrats on the new truck though!
Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health says
I get so attached to my cars too! I did the bootcamp workout yesterday because I knew I wouldn’t be able to today, and man is my lower body sore! I hadn’t heard of the surrender squats either, but they were awesome :).
Rachel @ The Peach and The Pit says
I just sold my Toyota Rav4 last year and I definitely felt emotional. That car went through a lot with me! But, we downsized a little to a Prius and I never looked back 🙂
Laura says
It is bittersweet strong a new car! My husband bought a new truck last week also. What kind did Ryan get? We got
A Chevy silverado.
Khushboo says
I always sleep like a rock on Sundays :). Surrender squats sound like Bulgarian split squats?
Antonia @ healthinspirations says
I know how must feel. My mom got a new car (after 12 years) late last year and even though we all couldn’t wait to finally get a new vehicle it was sad to say goodbye.
Jasper @ crunchylittlebites says
congrats on the new truck…it’s always a text of “adult” responsibility when making important life decisions…you really are a positive life model Julie!
Jessie @ A mom gets fit says
Oh, I know how sad it can be to say Goodbye to a car. My husband wants to sell is bike and it’s really hard for him to take the first step. 🙂
Yellow Haired Girl says

we just got a highlander hybrid, but when we got rid of our other car it was bittersweet because we brought both of our babies home in that truck!

Natasha says
Funny how cars become a sentimental thing after a while, isn’t it? I’m sure you’ll create lots of great memories in the truck too though!!
megan says
I have to make one of those sandwiches! What kind of english muffin do you use?
Carrie @ Lift Eat Repeat says
