Good morning! Today feels a bit like a Friday around here because Ryan, Sadie and I are driving to Florida after his morning post-op appointment tomorrow. Krystal and Matt’s wedding weekend will officially kick off in Sarasota on Friday night, but we’ll be spending Thursday evening in Jacksonville with my family and I cannot wait to see them! I haven’t seen my sister since I was 15 weeks pregnant and a lot has changed since then…
But first we must make it through the work day today!
Girls On The Run Coaches Dinner
Last night I met up with my two Girls On The Run co-coaches to attend the semi-annual coaches dinner at Daveste Vineyards, a winery located on 52-acres in Troutman, North Carolina.
The property is stunning and the cozy barn behind the main building served as a great location for a casual dinner.
The evening included lots of “thank yous,” speeches, raffle prizes, good food and cake!
The highlight of the night occurred when my co-coach, Rita, won the coach of the year award!! Rita has been coaching Girls On The Run for 12 seasons and this is her last one. She truly could not be more deserving of the award and has been such a great coach for many years. Our girls love her and she has taught me so much during our two seasons together. Rita shows up to every practice with a huge smile on her face and is such a positive light in my life. She really makes coaching with her a joy and I feel lucky to have been able to learn from the best!
Congratulations, Rita!!
Today
This morning, I played chauffeur again and drove Ryan into work before heading home to make breakfast and blog.
First up was a cup of strawberry Greek yogurt to take the edge off my hunger…
Followed by a bowl of chocolate egg white oatmeal with a cup of Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice tea!
And now it’s time to change and get the work day started. I hope you guys have a good one!

I know!! She started with her daughter in elementary school and moved up through the Girls On Track program with our middle school group. She’s wonderful!

Julie! I just wanted to officially say congrats and I am so excited to follow you on your pregnancy journey over the next few months. Three years ago I started reading blogs and I came across yours and you have officially helped inspire me to start my own blog! 🙂

Thanks so much, Jamie!! <3

Congrats to Rita! I wish GOTR would come to Canada!
(Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice tea is one of my personal favourites!!)

Congrats Rita! I love when REALLY deserving people win awards. Looks like a great event and a lovely venue
Laura says
Since Ryan can’t drive does that mean you have to do all the driving to Florida? Hope not, doesn’t seem fun!
Julie says
that’s the plan right now… :/ ryan has a post-op appointment before we leave tomorrow morning, so we are crossing our fingers that he’ll be able to drive a little bit, but i’m not holding my breath! we’ll see!!

Hope you guys have a great trip! I tried that tea but something about it make my mouth go numb and the spice combos were too much for me. My husband is Indian so I get lots of delicious chai when visiting his family, but this Bengal Spice did not do it for me. It’s either the cloves or cardamom but I was disappointed. I may even have some left it you want it haha 🙂
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Yay for Florida! I’m going back around Memorial Day to be in a wedding! Can’t wait!! 🙂

Congratulations to Rita! I can’t wait to volunteer at my first GOTR event, a 5k in June in NYC 🙂
Julie says
Awesome!!! You will have so much fun!

That winery looks amazing and I’m sure you’ll be looking forward to check it out again after your little boy is born! I’m thinking about getting started with GOTR in my area as well. I’ve been looking for something to get me out into the community and this would a perfect way to help young girls! Thanks for sharing as always! <3
Amanda @ Slimplify Life says
I’m moving to Seattle this summer and hoping to get involved with GOTR out West!!!

Fun!! I hope you love it!

Hope Ryan is healing up well! That’s nice of you to be his chauffeur 🙂
Liz says
Sounds like you have an exciting end-of-the-week-to-weekend! Congrats Rita!! What a great way to end her run with GOTR! Love the winery too; you should go back to check out their wines and tell us how they are once the little one is born! Wineries are the best 🙂

Could you do a post on how to pass time on road trips? I see that you and Ryan are driving often for long distances, and my husband and I get bored with the usual 20 questions! Love your blog!
Julie says
I love that idea!! YES!
Amanda B @ Cupcakes & Miles says
Way to go Rita!!
It’s nice to see Ryan isn’t confined to the couch still. Nurse Sadie did a good job… 😉
And, your oatmeal looks so gross, which of course means it must taste DELICIOUS!
Anna says
Have so much fun in Florida! Do I spy Fage yogurt? That’s my absolute fave!
Julie says
Yes! Love it!
Kristin @ My Year in the Making says
I would love to get involved with something like Girls on the Run. How do you go about doing that?
Nicole @ LibertyBellesBlog says
love me some Fage! I actually cut off the pour-in part after I’ve dumped it in the yogurt. I have no idea why, but it gets in my way if I leave it there!
Katie Gaffney says
one day I am going to be brave and try that oatmeal:) x
Taylor says
Aww, this post makes me miss my time as a Girls on the Run coach!! Such an amazing program, this makes me want to get back into it. Great post!

The GOTR dinner looks like it was a lot of fun! I think it’s such an incredible organization, I love that they’re helping get young girls enthusiastic about running while also teaching other important lessons too. 🙂
