It’s another wet and rainy afternoon in Ocala! Fortunately the rain managed to hold off throughout most of the day, so I ended up getting through about 40 minutes of my 55-minute water fitness class before the lifeguards heard thunder and we had to clear the pool. Safety first!
But backing up a bit…
I ate my breakfast while typing up my morning blog post and headed to the gym to work out and work as soon as I hit publish.
Workout
My workout was inspired by a workout I pinned on Pinterest from FitandFabCities.com. After 20 minutes on the elliptical, I completed three rounds of the pyramid workout I pinned and thought it was a good one! I made a few small changes, but loved the way the workout quickly moved from one exercise to the next.
After my workout for the day was done, I showered at the gym, changed into my work clothes and clocked in for the day.
Eventually lunch time rolled around and I found myself in the break room ready for food!
Lunch
If this lunch looks like it was assembled in 2.5 seconds, that’s because it was! I packed a nectarine, Greek yogurt, Van’s Say Cheese gluten-free crackers (the company just sent these to me to try yesterday and oh my gosh they are so good) and a tortilla with two pieces of cheese.
I ended up placing the cheese slices inside the tortilla and microwaving it for a make-shift quesadilla. Whatever works!
Question of the Afternoon
- What is your favorite grab ‘n’ go lunch?
When I was working from home, it was a smoothie. So simple! Now that I’m working at a gym, I try to pack my lunch the night before and seem to gravitate toward leftovers or tuna salad.
Erika @ fortheloveofpeanutbutter says
Not too shabby for a grab-n-go lunch! I recently tried the Fage 2% for the first time and it’s so much better than 0%!
For me, a grab and go lunch will look something like a piece of bread or two, a clementine, some granola, and carrots. Sometimes simplicity is quite delicious!
Miranda @ Miranda Runs says
I’ve been on a cheese kick lately! I love Colby Jack and Cheddar, yummmm! I usually just make a sweet potato if I need a quick lunch or grab some hard boiled eggs and a cheese stick with an apple! It’s gloomy over here in Seattle too today
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
Those crackers sound tasty! I think that my fave grab-n-go lunch is definitely a good ole PB & J sandwich!
Amy says
My current favorite grab and go lunch is the Morningstar Farms Mediterranean Chickpea Burger, a slice of cheese, an Arnold Flax & Fiber sandwich thin and a Muller Corner greek yogurt with the chocolate crunchy things.
Haley @Cupcakes and Sunshine.com says
Makeshift quesadillas are awesome! I do it all the time! (: I love them! And also, I order the Moo Moo Mr. Cow quesadilla at Moe’s. It works!
Audrey @ In Shape Cupcake says
Always have leftover brown rice & chicken so I love throwing that in a bowl with salsa.
Also love a wrap with banana, almond butter, and chia seeds! Nom nom nom
Ashlee@HisnHers says
All of my lunches are pretty much grab and go haha. I am lucky enough to have a nice kitchen at my office so “grab and go” to me is a sweet potato, a jar of pb and a bag of spinach. Baked sweet potato stuffed wtih pb and wilted spinach on the side!
Maria@The_Brooklyn_Fig says
I didn’t know Vans made chips- cool! I’ve tried their waffles and really like them, so I’m definitely interested.
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
PB&J, a turkey/hummus/veggie wrap, leftovers, or a can of a soup when I’m in a pinch! Or I’ll do a “snack lunch” of sorts – just a bunch of random snacks, fruits, & veggies that I can scrounge up.
Ashley says
Must be an Ashley thing because a can of soup is also my grab and go lunch when I’m really pressed for time. I love the vast selection at Whole Foods of natural soups too since I feel bad eating premade food.
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Usually leftovers but if for different components some of Angela’s endurance bread, a banana, nut butter (preferably sunbutter) or a sachet of something – for making a quick sandwich! If I’m at home a green monster smoothie on the side. If on the go I’ll go yoghurt and more fruit!
Maggie @ Sunnyside Up Smile says
Sounds like a great workout! 🙂 Your lunch actually looks really good too. My favorite grab and go lunch would have to be carrot sticks with hummus and a “salad” I’ve been eating lately with quinoa, lentils, feta cheese, more hummus and mashed avocado. So yummy!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
Love it! My favorite grab ‘n go is probably cheese and crackers, and maybe a handful of fruit! Or a hefty granola bar…pretty much the easy staples that are always in our pantry 🙂
Chelsea Preedy says
If I don’t have leftovers ready and waiting, I will make a quick bagel thin sandwich or pack some turkey and laughing cow cheese wedges to eat on wasa crackers. Always with fruit and veggies on the side!
Christina @ The Beautiful Balance says
My favorite grab and go lunch is a salad and hummus!
Caitie @ twentytwofit says
in a hurry, my favorite grab ‘n go lunch is tuna + asparagus! I buy frozen asparagus in those steam-able bags. The flavor combo might sound weird but it is delicious!!! And the protein-heavy tuna keeps me full 🙂
Mandy says
This is funny because I just posted on my blog my favorite grab and go breakfast (www.applesaucyblog.wordpress.com). My favorite grab and go lunch would have to be Chobani and a turkey wrap!
Aurora says
Packing cheese slices and tortilla is genius! My grab and go lunches are usually similar-fruit, hard boiled eggs, carrots, that kind of thing.
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun says
I have to say my favorite grab-n-go is oatmeal or quick pasta. I have to make sure to get enough carbs in usually to make it through my runs so those are my go to. If it even quicker then usually a protein bar.
Ellie@Fit for the soul says
my grab and go lunch usually seems to be a bread of some sort with melted cheese, avocado, and hummus! 😀 Sometimes I add Sriracha or some kind of hot sauce.
lauren vickers says
So glad to see cheese gluten free crackers. As a new celiac I miss my cheese its!
Jan Klein says
The Van’s crackers are great. They’ve got a couple of different flavors & all are yummy! I love them all.
Xai says
I usually just use left overs as a quick lunch. Though I reheat them into one big mush bowl. Sounds gross but tastes great!
Jen @ Chocolate Chips & Tricep Dips says
My grab-n-go lunch would be very similar to yours – Greek yogurt and a piece of fruit!
sarah @makingitmyhome.blogspot.com says
during the school year, i prepped a salad at the beginning of the week and all i had to do was grab an avocado to go with it when it was time for lunch. but if i dont manage to prep a salad, i’m guilty of bringing a lean pocket. i am still considering the lean pocket a much better choice than my past grab and go lunch: a bagel with cream cheese from dunkin
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat says
We had a very rainy and humid day here in NJ too! Tomorrow is supposed to be nicer though…yay!
Your grab-and-go lunch sounds pretty yummy to me! I like to have a smoothie when I don’t have a lot of time.
Melissa says
Greek yogurt and fruit is always a staple for me!
Hannah says
It was rainy in New Jersey too-no fun. Microwaving cheese in a tortilla is so simple and quick but looks sooo yummy, I have to try it out sometime!
Tristen W says
Those bags of crackers are so cute! Are they similar to a goldfish cracker or cheese-itz?
Amanda @Fitforgloryfoundbygrace says
That’s actually a smart idea! I’ll have to think of that during school. At my summer job, there’s no microwave (I KNOW! ridiculous!) So I like to pack big salads, wraps, etc. Those chips sound good!
Hailey says
I love PerfectFoods bars! 🙂
Nicole @ crazyabouthealthy.com says
Sometimes if I’m lazy, I’ll buy a Quest protein bar, an apple, and a skinny latte from Starbucks. But usually I find it super easy to pack a huge salad. Just throw all the ingredients in a container and shake it up with some dressing. Always yummy.
Christine@ Apple of My Eye says
I’ve been falling in love with circuit workouts lately. I love how they hold your attention and keep you moving with different exercises!
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
my favorite grab and go lunch is definitely leftovers. it’s the best when we prep the next day’s lunch while we make our plates for dinner! then you’re already done with lunch by the time you eat dinner 🙂
Sarah @ A Refining Adventure says
Pretty good for a grab ‘n go lunch! I usually try to pack my lunches ahead of time the night before. But, if I don’t I will just grab the makings for a sandwich, and a piece of fruit.
Nikki @ Grab Your Kicks says
I also try to make my lunch the night before. That way I’m not scrambling to throw something together in the morning. I usually have a Rudi’s GF wrap with hard boiled egg, laughing cow cheese wedge, avocado, sunflower seeds, and cucumber. I also have some greek yogurt. I probably have this lunch 80% of the time, creatures of habit, right? Plus, I know I love it.
Cathryn says
I am a major tuna salad and veggies & hummus/lite ranch lover for lunch. I always have to pack a cookie or a piece of chocolate to satisfy my sweet tooth for the afternoon.
Sky @ The Blonde In Black says
Greek yogurt, baby carrots, almonds, pretzels, sometimes a pb sandwich with honey is what I’ll grab for lunch.
Jackie says
Leftovers! I always prep food in advance so it is ready for lunches all week!
Chelsea @ LittleOneRuns says
I usually just throw together a quick salad, then get some snack type foods, like almonds, clif bar, fruit, stuff like that, if I have a little extra time in the morning, I make a smoothie 🙂 But usually everythings is done the night before, and even then, it still only takes me about 15-20 minutes to get everything ready.
Casey @ Salted Plates says
I’ve been loving those crackers recently too! They are so good!
Jan @ Sprouts n Squats says
I like leftovers or salads in summer and soups in winter which it currently is here in Australia. I am about to start travelling lots for work so need to look at some good grab and go lunch options.
Missy says
When I’m at home, a smoothie is definitely the way to go — especially in the hot summers! 🙂
If I need to grab something quick, it’s usually fruit, nuts, and yogurt. Luckily, at my work, we have a pretty stellar salad bar that only costs $0.15 an ounce! So I don’t get too upset with myself if I forget to pack a lunch.
Priya S. says
My favorite Grab n Go is Chobani Plain Greek yogurt , a Kashi Bar, and an apple!
Kelly says
Ah I’d love to try those Van’s crackers- I have celiac’s so I’m no stranger to Van’s products and am always on the hunt for new snacks 🙂 My grab and go is usually Fage yogurt with honey, a Larabar or Almond Butter and some fruit
