Today is a very special day in the Fagan household! Here’s a hint, but in true PBF fashion, you know I’m going to dedicate an entire post to this special day. Stay tuned (if you’re a dog lover, that is)!
Workout
Today’s workout almost didn’t happen.
I tried to convince Ryan to sleep in, but he got up and got dressed and I couldn’t just stay in bed without feeling like I should get my butt in gear and workout. I wasn’t even tired, I was just so warm.
I give you northerners a lot of credit for working out in the winter. If our house temperature falls into the low 60s, I feel like it’s freezing. Such a baby.
As always, once I got to the gym and started working out, I was glad I went. Isn’t that how it always seems to work?
My workout began with 20 minutes on the elliptical before I did my Targeting Triceps arm workout.
Breakfast
I made myself a mock Egg McMuffin today, only I used a toasted whole wheat bagel in place of an English muffin.
The Canadian bacon made this sandwich. I forgot how much flavor it can add to a breakfast sandwich.
I also sipped on a hot mug of Bigelow pomegranate green tea.
I bought this tea yesterday when I saw it on sale at a local health food store.
I fell in love with the pomegranate green tea when Ryan and I were living in a hotel during the first month that we moved to Ocala. (I do not miss that!)
The hotel always had the tea at their daily breakfast buffet and I quickly made drinking a hot mug of the tea part of my morning routine. I typically think green tea tastes like dirty water, but the pomegranate flavor makes this green tea much more palatable. For my fellow Starbucks fanatics, it reminds me a lot of Starbucks passion tea.
Off to get mah work on! I have a lunch meeting today and hope to have a very productive morning.
Question of the Morning
- Tea drinkers: What is your favorite kind of tea?
I’m always on the lookout for new kinds of tea to try and would love your recommendations. My favorite is Yogi Egyptian Licorice Mint. Sounds strange, tastes great.
Jessica @ RUNMEM says
My favorite is the Bigelow Chai Tea for breakfast or for green tea, Bigelow Green Tea with Jasmine (makes it a little sweet!). Good job on your workout! I started with a TRX class this morning!
alyssa - fashion fitness foodie says
I’m a big fan of the pomegranate green tea as well! I can’t drink it plain!!
Happy Birthday to Sadie!
whitney says
Try Bigelow’s “Constant Comment” green tea…in a red and green box. I’m drinking it now! I don’t know why it’s named that but it’s really good…flavored with orange rind and sweet spice. I’m not usually an orange fan, but it’s really subtle.
I’m definitely trying the pomegrante one!
Ashley P. says
Ohh man, I am a little TOO enthusiastic about tea! I’m not sure if you have David’s Tea in the U.S. or not (I think it may just be Canadian), but it is TRULY amazing. David’s has over 100 varieties of loose leaf teas in some pretty funky flavours, which change season over season. They have pumpkin pie, candy cane, etc. My FAVOURITE green tea is Starbucks’ Zen Green tea. You might like that too, Julie! It’s got hints of peppermint & lemongrass, so it definitely doesn’t have the “dirty water”/bitter flavour of regular green tea. That said, I love any peppermint green tea (Tetley has a good one). Sometimes (ahem, a lot of times) when I’m feeling the need for an extra energy boost, I sip on earl grey tea – mmmmmm. Earl grey tea with milk is just the best!
jenny says
LOVE Tazo Xen Green Tea — you can buy it in most stores now too so you don’t have to hit up Starbucks to get it either.
jenny says
I never pay for tea at Starbucks — I mean, you can get an entire box of my favorite Tazo Green Tea for the price of 2 teas there!
Joelle (On A Pink Typewriter) says
I love iced tea the best – i drink it literally every day.. as for hot tea, I like plain ol’ black/English breakfast. Yogi Tea also has some really delish flavors though, including one that tastes like hot cocoa (I think it’s the Moroccan flavor or something, I forget!).
PS. I had emailed you re. this, but asking here might be easier for you: do you have any suggestions for ab strengthening/toning exercises? I’m pretty new to weights/strength training, but want to tone up my core, beyond straight up cardio. 🙂
Brittany says
I’m a huge fan of Starbucks’ Zen tea. It’s a green tea but has a really fresh lemony flavor that balances out the dirty taste. Ooh, and lemon rose tea from Peet’s is incredible.
Sharan says
i’m curious about this as well
Sharan says
oops, meant to reply to the post under this one.
Jay says
Julie, where did your ”Wearing Only a Sports Bra to the Gym” post go? I can’t seem to find it!
Amy @ Elephant Eats says
My all-time favorite tea is Trader Joe’s Decaf Candy Cane Green Tea. It’s only available at christmas time, which sucks, so I usually stock up. Peppermint green tea is the best!
Jessica @brighteyesandbushytales says
Mine is the Tazo Refresh tea. It’s a decaf tea though, so more for afternoon/night. So yummy!
Dione says
I am a total tea granny:) Ever since childhood I drink it at least two or three times a day. I generally drink good old orange pekoe (Tetley or Red Rose) in the morning. I also like the Tazo full leaf teas, like Awake or Earl Grey. In the evening I like a very milky (mostly heated milk with a touch of water) Chai tea. I do like green tea too, real Chinese green tea that you get in authentic Chinese restaurants. (My boyfriend is Chinese, so no westernized Chinese food for me since I know the real stuff, though I still like ginger beef on occasion, it’s an Alberta specialty.)
Katie says
Happy Birthday Sadie! 🙂
Kat @ Balance & Spice says
I love white vanilla grapefruit tea from Harlow & Sons. It’s one of the lightest, sweetest teas around. It’s really warming and soothing, and makes me feel cozy on freezing days.
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I love any lemon herbal tea!
Happy Birthday to Sadie–I knew it was her b-day from your spotlight thing on FitFLuential 🙂
LOVE me some triceps work–burn, baby burn!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
TJ’s peppermint and Vanilla Caramel Truffle (Lipton). Mmm-mmm! Happy birthday to your pup! 😉
Kat @ Balance & Spice says
Oh, and happy birthday Sadie!!!!
Heather @ Better With Veggies says
I don’t really have a favorite tea – so many to try – but I love tea! But if I had to pick a couple that I really love, it would be Chrysanthemum tea or Barley tea – both discovered (for me) in China last year. We still have some of the Chrysanthemum tea (literally, they are dried flowers – so cool!), but we never found barley tea to bring back in our short visit. Or a good cup of real green tea – mmmmm….
Brittany *Sparkles* says
My favorite tea is morroccan green mint! and I usually add another bag like raspberry and white or mangosteen to it… 🙂 winning combo!
laurel says
I have that tea too! I still have some left over from your bridal shower…love that one…and I love the mint tea. I just love tea.
Lindsey says
I love a tea called sweet green tea but it is soo hard to find! When I do find it I buy the store out. I also love the Celestial Seasonings candy cane green tea.
Lindsey says
My favorite tea is definitely Bigelow Decaf Spiced Chai! It is so tasty and not too strong/bitter. I also love peppermint tea.. oh who am i kidding i love all tea!!
Sarah says
I love all Bigelow teas! Oh, and one I’m really loving right now is Celestial Tea’s Honey Vanilla Chamomille. I don’t normally like chamomille, but this is good! But the best tea ever has to be Oolong tea from Prince of Peace. So rich and good! I have so much tea I don’t know what to do with it 🙂
Khushboo says
I live in Mumbai and was having issues getting out of my warm bed this morning! I am such a tea drinker- normally green tea but recently I am loving lemon & ginger!
Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon says
Ooh I’ve never had pomegranate green tea before!! Checking that out ASAP!
My favorites are mango green and mint medley!
bri says
That same brand has a green tea with lemon that is actually really tasty…I don’t add a thing to it and thoroughly enjoy it. I haven’t found another green tea since the lemon one that I actually like so maybe I’ll give the pomegranate a try….
Kaitlin @4loveofcarrots says
pomegranate green tea is one of my favorites, I also really enjoy Bengal Tiger Tea, it has a cinnamon and chai tea flavor to it
Rachel @ The Peach and The Pit says
I have trying to get in to green and herbal teas…Right now I’m all about the coffee and black tea. Over the holidays, I tried a Stash Cranberry Pomegranate tea which was pretty great. I think the problem is that I like my tea/coffee to be creamy, which isn’t really socially acceptable in herbal teas! Happy Friday!
Kelly says
Ick…I think tea tastes like butt! Kudos to all you healthy tea drinkers out there…but me and coffee will be just fine together! 🙂
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I love that pomegranate green tea! It definitely makes plain green tea taste better. My favorite kind of tea is masala chai! so good.
Caitlin @ Chasingamile says
I like regular old Lipton tea with cream and sugar.
Heather H. @ Run Eat Play says
I’m not a huge fan of tea because I prefer coffee, but I used to drink tea from Teavana. They have some pretty good teas.
Yesterday was 4 degrees here in Chicago and today were supposed to get up to 8 inches of snow.
Clare @ Fitting It All In says
I think green tea tastes awful too. My favorite tea is Tazo Refresh – you can try it at Starbucks. SO minty and fresh! But I also love sugar cookie sleigh ride for a night time treat.
Blog is the New BLack says
The mango one is delicious, too!!! And the bberry, mint, etc…
Jana @ Newly Wife Healthy Life says
I love tazo sweet cinnamon spice!! It’s amazing!
Lauren says
White Peach Tea with a slice of ginger!
Lindsay @ biking before bed says
Tazo chai is my all time favorite tea. I also love fruity herbal teas by Celestial Seasonings. If you ever go to Boulder COlorado you have to check out the Celestial Seasonings factory. It’s so neat especially the room where they store the peppermint. The smell will knock your socks off. Happy birthday Sadie.
Rachel says
Oh I love tea of all kinds! My favorites right now are Yogi Tea’s Blueberry Slim Life Green Tea (dumb name but it is sweet, fruity and delicious) and Celestial Seasoning’s Candy Cane Lane Green Tea (so much better than regular peppermint tea).
Nathan Miller says
I drink two Diet Lipton green teas a day! Way to get out of bed this morning and get into the gym.
Megan says
I love, love tea. Hot and cold as long as it doesn’t have any sugar. My favorite is the Tazo Zen Tea. Starbucks uses it for their iced green tea. It has lemongrass and spearmint. It’s only slightly minty and it’s good hot and cold.
Heather @ For the Love of Kale says
My all-time favorite tea is NUMI Tea’s Vanilla Rooibos Chai tea. It’s organic and not too pricey. I think you can only find it at Whole Foods but it’s amazing nonetheless!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I used to think green tea tasted like dirty water too, but Davids Tea has me totally converted. I’m a bit of a tea nerd now! Their flavours are delicious. Right now I’m sipping on Lime Gelato, which is a green tea with bits of yogurt chunks in the mix that melt into the water when you steep it. Mmmmm!
My guess is that it’s Sadie’s birthday…… can’t wait to find out!
HRCK the Herald says
I am a tea fanatic. My very favorites are the Sugar Cookie tea, any kind of green tea, Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Spice one (tastes like Big Red gum…so good!), and English Breakfast with a little bit of milk and sugar.
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
yay – happy birthday sadie! 🙂
i’m not a huge tea drinker, but i do love chamomile or a passion fruit tea (like the one from starbucks). that pomegranate one sounds tasty!
Elizabeth says
The republic of tea’s red velvet tea!
peanutbutterfingers says
oh that sounds awesome! i’ve never heard of red velvet tea!
Elizabeth says
They sell it at World Market. I emailed the company and asked for a sample so I could make sure I liked it before I went out and bought an entire container. I like it cause I try to eat healthy so now when my mom maked red velvet cake I can indulge in my tea instead. I add a little cream and sugar.
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
Yogi Thai Delight is absolutely delicious. Also any of Pete’s teas. My friend just got me a sampler pack and I loved just about every flavor in it.
SweatyGirl says
You have to get Good Earth brand – “Original Spicy & Sweet”
There is nothing like it! It has a really zesty blend of herbs and spices. It’s naturally sweet and super spicy and so so good!
They sell it at Whole Foods, so grab some next time! You’ll thank me 🙂
Mary says
Sweet and spicy tea is my favorite too. We couldn’t get itin Canada until this fall so I used to bring loads of it home every time we went to the U . S . My friends are hooked on it too. Julie, you would love it as it is very Christmas scented and I think you like everything Christmas!
Jen says
I agree. This is the best tea I have ever had! It actually reminds me of Big Red gum, but with flavor that actually lasts. 🙂
Morgan says
I just discovered Lady Gray tea by Twinings – so amazing! And refreshing! 🙂
Diana says
I concur with SweatyGirl – I refer to Good Earth Brand Original as “crack” – it’s so good!! I also love Yogi brand Detox (that was a big fan favorite in college for obvious reasons) and Chai Rooibus (no idea how to spell that)
I WANT to like green tea but I despise it – perhaps I should give the pomegranate flavor!
Faith @ For the Health of It says
I’m not a huge tea drinker, but when I do have a cup I really like the lipton blueberry tea or the lipton vanilla caramel truffle. I agree though – tea does kind of taste like dirty water a lot of the time!
Julia says
Yogi India Spice! Its very spicy and slightly sweet…I love it!
Andrea @ Andrea Out Loud! says
I love earl grey or peppermint tea!
