Today is a very special day in the Fagan household! Here’s a hint, but in true PBF fashion, you know I’m going to dedicate an entire post to this special day. Stay tuned (if you’re a dog lover, that is)!
Workout
Today’s workout almost didn’t happen.
I tried to convince Ryan to sleep in, but he got up and got dressed and I couldn’t just stay in bed without feeling like I should get my butt in gear and workout. I wasn’t even tired, I was just so warm.
I give you northerners a lot of credit for working out in the winter. If our house temperature falls into the low 60s, I feel like it’s freezing. Such a baby.
As always, once I got to the gym and started working out, I was glad I went. Isn’t that how it always seems to work?
My workout began with 20 minutes on the elliptical before I did my Targeting Triceps arm workout.
Breakfast
I made myself a mock Egg McMuffin today, only I used a toasted whole wheat bagel in place of an English muffin.
The Canadian bacon made this sandwich. I forgot how much flavor it can add to a breakfast sandwich.
I also sipped on a hot mug of Bigelow pomegranate green tea.
I bought this tea yesterday when I saw it on sale at a local health food store.
I fell in love with the pomegranate green tea when Ryan and I were living in a hotel during the first month that we moved to Ocala. (I do not miss that!)
The hotel always had the tea at their daily breakfast buffet and I quickly made drinking a hot mug of the tea part of my morning routine. I typically think green tea tastes like dirty water, but the pomegranate flavor makes this green tea much more palatable. For my fellow Starbucks fanatics, it reminds me a lot of Starbucks passion tea.
Off to get mah work on! I have a lunch meeting today and hope to have a very productive morning.
Question of the Morning
- Tea drinkers: What is your favorite kind of tea?
I’m always on the lookout for new kinds of tea to try and would love your recommendations. My favorite is Yogi Egyptian Licorice Mint. Sounds strange, tastes great.
Kelsey says
I love the pomegranate green tea too it’s delish! My favorite is ginger mint though, yum!
Emily N says
I really love peppermint green tea. I have only found it at TJs and only at the holidays. Boo. But I will drink regular green tea pretty much every day as well.
Katy @ A Shot of Life says
Happy Birthday Sadie!!
I’m a tea drinker and prefer black tea (English Breakfast or Earl Grey) but I like to drink loose leaf herbal tea now and then, including green. I’ve found that the key to green teas is not using boiling water- it makes them super bitter! I’ve never tried the pomegranate- sounds good though!
Mellissa says
I am a big fan of Stash Chai Green Tea. Hints of chai flavor mixed with green tea. Light but spicy. So good!
chelsea says
I love Yogi teas as well as Peace Tea. The peace tea has so much sugar ha but it’s soo yummy!
Amber says
Passion tea is my absolute favorite but as far as green tea I love the herbalife raspberry green tea…no dirty water taste lol
Rebecca @ Miss Magnolia Munches & Moves says
I’m a baby about the cold too! Anything below 60 is for the birds!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Happy birthday to Sadie! Ginger turned 4 this past July and I finally feel like she’s hit a “mature” stage. Meaning her insanity is only like an 8 out of 10 now instead of a full blown 10!
Hope Sadie gets a special treat today (which I’m sure she will ;))
Lauren B. says
Yogi Egyptian licorice IS yummy. I was drinking it for a while to help with digestion! 🙂
Chelsa says
I love green tea flavored or not, it’s my favorite!
Katelyn says
Sleepytime Vanilla tea before bed!! YUM!
Amelia says
My all time favorite tea is Numi’s Mate Lemon Green, it oddly reminds me of fruity pebbles but is so delicious! You have got to try it!
Rebecca @ Naturally Healthy and Gorgeous says
I drink green tea all day. Actually, part of my PhD deals with how green tea prevents cancer!
cheryl says
in my BOS days, i was awed by folks who trained for the marathon. it kinda is good to hold one before it gets warm but they had to train in the jan-april timeframe with at least their long runs outside!
i will say, i lived in ATL long enough to understand cold is harder in the south…don’t have the clothes, the insulation in the homes, or even the salt trucks/plows if the need arises
Julie @ Orcas Health Journey says
Ohh I love that pomegranate green tea!
And that nasty, bitter after taste is the result of steeping green tea for more than 2 minutes.
You just gotta pull it out after a minute but less than 2. … (haha that’s what she said? Lol sorry,)
But anyways, I like the Tazo Zen Green tea because of the hint of mint.I usually add a tbsp of honey to sweeten it and it really compliments the mint flavor of the tea!
Becki says
Lemon and ginger all the way! It adds a nice cleansing zing to my day.
Ashley says
I felt the same exact way this morning! However, I had to bundle up for 22 below this morning at 5 am 🙁 I made it though! Of course my Luzianne tea warmed me up once I got to work….It’s my favorite brand! Simple, but oh so good!
Cat @Breakfast to Bed says
I love Harney and Sons canton green, teavana everything, Tim’s tea passionfruit green. So many.
Catherine says
You should try Republic of Tea’s Kiwi Pear Green Tea. I tried a bunch of teas when I worked at a local coffee shop and this one was the stand-out! Add a little bit of stevia and i’m good to go! 🙂
Ty says
We are gigantic tea fans. I have a shelf of about 30 different flavors! I am really picky about what fruit flavors I’ll drink but I love the spiced ones. My all-time favorites are chocolate hazelnut, Good Earth (original, tastes like big red gum!) and jasmine tea.
For a kick start in the morning nothing beats a spicy chai with milk and some cayenne.
Coffee bean and tea leaf has some awesome green tea fruit flavors… The strawberry, cherry and melon green teas are the only fruity teas I’ve ever enjoyed.
Sarah says
Peppermint black tea year round, reminds me of Christmas in the best of ways!
LeeAnn says
I toured the Celestial Seasonings factory….so now I feel like I must drink their tea-and have 6 boxes right now to prove it!
Marcy says
I used the gym as my motivation to get warm yesterday. It was so cold in the city I live in (-12 C…not sure in F!), and I was so cold in my house that I told myself that if I go to the gym at least I will be warm! And agreed, plain green tea tastes like dirt.
Nicole says
David’s Tea (might only be in Canada?) has the best kind of teas. My favorites are Orange Blossom and Toasted Walnut.
However if you don’ like regular green tea you should try genmaicha (rice green tea). You normally get it at Japanese restaurants – it’s my go to tea for sure!
PS its -40°C (-40°F) where I am right now – so be happy your still in the +ve temperatures! 🙂
Mary says
Nicole must live where I do ! We have had a cold week with the temps in the – 30-40’s and that is F. (minus. 40 C . = -40 F.). It is warming up tomorrow. yeah!!!
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake says
I love English breakfast tea!
Hillary says
Celestial Seasoning’s Candy Cane Lane. I drink buckets of it in the winter. So festive and delicious!
ELIZA says
too funny. I live in Maine and got up at 5 this morning to go to spin class before work. I didnt know it snowed last night so my car was covered in about 4-5 inches of snow! I was VERY lucky though because it was the light fluffy stuff opposed to the super dense stuff .
i love mint green tea! so good.
Brittany @Little b's healthy habits says
The celestial teas are my favorite way to cure a sweet tooth!
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
English Breakfast, Sugar plum spice, green matcha, and chai 😀
Kim says
I loooooove the passion tea from Starbucks! I have been searching for a green tea I can enjoy instead of coffee in the morning – I’ll have to try this!
Sara says
I’m seriously shocked that no one has mentioned Harney & Son’s tea. (I scrolled through to check that I wasn’t repeating someone and i apologize if I somehow missed a comment that included this info). If you’re a tea fan, you HAVE to try this brands “Hot Cinnamon Spice”. It’s the best cup of hot liquid that you will ever consume. I promise>
Gen says
I love green tea, I drink it at breakfast after a good run, I feel it’s very refereshing! I also like black tea to replace coffee or to wake up in the morning!
Jodi @ Southern Flavored Life says
I am not a huge fan of green tea. I live in the South, and we just mostly drink sweet tea.
I have heard of a million health benefits of the stuff, so I might have to try the flavored.
Meghan Roy (@meghanroy) says
The best tea in the world, in my opinion, is the Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Sunset Tea. It tastes like fall blew up in your mouth… In a good way. It’s so amazing! You have to try it!
Eva says
my favorite tea is currently pukka’s licorice and cinnamon! it is divine!
but i love love love all the holiday celestial seasonings — sugar plum spice, nutcracker sweet, sugar cookie sleigh ride….
Elisabeth says
I am obsessed with Coffee Bean Cherry Blossom Green Tea. It’s slightly sweet, with some light cherry but lots of good jasmine taste! Seriously the best, hot or cold. I don’t think Coffee Bean has made its way to Florida… but it’s worth ordering online!
Melissa says
Tazo African Red Bush (or another red rooibos), yum!
Kerry @ Totes My Oats says
I love Bigelow’s green tea and Twinings Earl Grey tea! So good.
Grace says
Not sure if I would classify myself as a tea drinker but when I do drink it, fruity flavors are my favorite! And I think pomegranate is my favorite flavor booster for lots of drinks….like cocktails.
Emily says
Celestial Seasonings Cinnamon Apple Spice herbal tea. HANDS DOWN the most delicious and comforting tea!!! It is almost like drinking apple cider!!! Soooo obsessed!
Laura E. says
I don’t drink coffee and used to drink black tea until I made the switch to only green tea for health purposes! I alternate between Constant Comment green tea and my FAVORITE is Yogi Kombucha Green Tea- so delicious!
Hilary says
I second the Yogi Kombucha Green Tea – that stuff is THE best. A close second for me is Salada’s Purple Antioxidant Green Tea which has a blueberry flavor.
Natalie says
Chai Tea!! I am in love! Especially if I can add a little skim milk and splenda!
Gabby says
Thanks for the credit. This northerner got to run in 13 degree weather today!
I like flavored green tea too- try Celestial Seasonings’ Candy Cane Lane!
Ellie@Fit for the Soul says
I can’t quite remember the exact names of most of them, but I love Zhena’s Gypsy Tea (I think?) of the peach+black tea kind, or Teavana’s Emperor green tea, and my beloved Yerba Mate! (Cruz de Malta being my fave brand) 🙂
Antonia @ healthinspirations says
I love Chai tea or Green tea for breakfast. At home we drink this amazing, strawberry black tea which is soooo good. I love teas so much, so I can’t really decide which is my favorite!
meg says
Definitely not a fan of green tea either. I’ve tried that pomegranate flavor before and I still didn’t like it. I guess it’s ok with some sweetener but I don’t like having to add sweetener to stuff. If it’s bad on it’s own why bother with it.
My favorite tea of all time is Harney and Son’s Cinnamon Spice. My college coffee shop always had it and I think Barnes and Noble has it but otherwise you have to order it and its expensive so I never drink it anymore. =(
Favorites are (all bigelow I think) Vanilla Caramel, Pumpkin Spice, and Vanilla Chai.
meg says
Oops – I just saw someone else above say Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Sunset. I forgot the name because I haven’t had it in so long!
Kat says
60’s? I wish! It’s been below 20 here. I think I need to get a gym membership, I can’t run outside in weather like that.
Life's a Bowl says
Teavana has TONS of teas [but they’re not cheap]! I’m more of a coffee lover, but I bought my step-mother a tea mug for Christmas that has a little compartment for fresh tea leaves and hot water- she loves it! They also have a travel to-go version…
Laura says
oh today was definitely one of those workout days for me! I forced myself through it though!! I know what you mean, about green tea tasting like dirty water..sometimes I just force myself to drink it because I know its good for me. Sometimes the trick is to not let the water reach the boil and shut it off right before, then the tea doesn’t taste so..burnt..yuck!! Right now my favorite tea is the Traditional Medicine Throat Coat in the Lemon Echinacea flavor…it reminds me a lot of black licorice! However, if I don’t feel like having that tea, I like to mix plain green tea with Lipton’s ginger twist! So yummy! Anyways, have a great day!! 🙂
Jodi @ I Run for Food and Wine says
I agree about the dirty water thing…If I drink green tea, I always do one bag green tea and one bag of strawberry green tea together…def helps!
