When my sister and I took BodyPump together last Saturday, I went light on the squat and lunge tracks because I knew I had to run in a 10K the next day. Well, today I didn’t hold back at all and *wowzaa* I felt the burn! I have a feeling my hamstrings will be talkin’ to me in the morning.
I absolutely love the way BodyPump motivates me to push myself and makes strength training energizing and fun. It’s the best.
On my way home from the gym, I snacked on several handfuls of Cashew Crunch. So addicting!
That snack helped tide me over until lunchtime.
Lunch
If you love tuna salad and guacamole, I urge you to make this sandwich at home.
Guacamole tuna salad!
It was delicious.

- Total Time: 5 minutes
- Yield: 1 serving 1x
- Category: lunch, recipes
- Cuisine: lunch
Description
If you love tuna salad and guacamole, I urge you to make this sandwich at home.
Ingredients
- 1 can tuna (drained)
- 2 ounces guacamole (roughly 2 tbsp.)
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard (more to taste)
- 1 teaspoon sweet relish (more to taste)
- 1 carrot, chopped
- 1 celery stalk, chopped
Instructions
Combine all ingredients into a bowl.
Not too shabby!
I used a packet of Wholly Guacamole as the guacamole base, but you can also use mashed avocado or homemade guacamole. It’s a winner!
With my sandwich I also ate and an apple that I dipped in a heaping spoonful of almond butter.
Sweet + Salty!
Question of the Afternoon
- Pick one: Salsa, Guacamole or Queso?
I love stirring salsa into my guacamole, so the combination is my absolute favorite, but if I had to pick, I’d say fresh homemade salsa with lots of cilantro!
Sarah says
guacamole > everything on the planet. Except Fritos 😉
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
I am ALL about adding avocado or guacamole to my tuna OR egg salad. It’s so good and such a great replacement for the not-so-healthy (and not-so-tasty-to-me) mayo!
Claire @ Flake and Cake says
Wow Julie that salad looks yummy, I adore fish and avocado. Actually, avocado anything! Glad you had a good body pump class, they’re so much fun.
Audrey @ In Shape Cupcake says
Salsa with lots of cilantro and a bit on the sweet and spicy side. Yum!
Emily says

Kait (@runKaitrun) says
yum that looks delish! my go-to is typically salsa but guac is a close second 🙂
Lindsey says
Guac all the way! I love making my tuna sandwiches/wraps with hummus and mashed avocado, I did so last night!
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says

All things guac make my day! Can’t wait to try this recipe, but substituting chicken for tuna.
Which reeboks are you wearing above?! I’m loving the neon yellow 🙂
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Hmmmm if it was between regular salsa and the others I’d pick guacamole, but I’ve had some really great salsas from places that make multiple kinds
Traci says
guacamole over everything. 🙂
Carol @ Lucky Zucca says
How can you possibly expect us to pick between salsa, guac and queso?! The fat kid in me is screaming queso, but realistically I’d pick guac as #1. 😀 Awesome idea to add it to tuna salad!!
Paige @ Your Trainer Paige says
Yes! I love using guacamole as a mayo replacer. Tastier – and healthier 🙂
Gina says
Your timing is perfect. I have leftover guacamole from Whole Foods (I used half for a chicken enchilada recipe) that I didn’t quite know what to do with. Now I know what I’m having for lunch today.
Have a great trip!
Chelsea says
Salsa con queso? lol. Definitely salsa, though – big, chunky, onion-and-jalepeno heavy homemade salsa. It’s one of the things I always look forward to about summer – great tomatoes at the farmers market = droolworthy homemade salsa!
Lauren says
I love bean and corn salsa. I eat it straight from the jar with a spoon. SO good. or I’ll dip a spoon in Plain Greek Yogurt then salsa for a snack!
I love sweet relish in tuna salads. It makes a huge difference, in my opinion!
Katie @ running4cupcakes says
Yeah for a good body pump class!! And my vote is guac – love it!!
Jackie Macharsky says
Top a chip with all 3 and you have one good nacho! You can’t just pick one!!!
Ashley @ Life and Fitness says
I can’t wait to try this! I’m always looking for new ways to spice up my usual tuna lunch. Let’s face it tuna out of a can, can get pretty boring.
Alex says
Salsa! On. Everything. 🙂
Nicole @ Fruit 'N' Fitness says
I love guac! This sandwich sounds great. I typically make my tuna with greek yogurt and avocado so i’m sure I would love it with guacamole. I haven’t seen those 100 calorie packs.

I love guacamole and I love tuna salad. I never thought to put the two together! Definitely going to try this. 🙂 Guacamole all the way!!!
Kaitlin @4loveofcarrots says
U absolutely love guacamole!!! I could eat it with a spoon, the best is when a restaurant has the guac they make table side! Since I am a mayo hater I sometimes mash an avocado into my tuna or shredded chicken, it is seriously amazing!
Russell says
All, or actually most, of the suggestions are mouth watering but are missing the one ingredient guaranteed to give any dish a zip, Tabasco. Just two or three drops in your Tuna + Guacamole = heaven.
Or substitute the cayenne pepper in the guacamole with half a teaspoon of Tabasco. Are you up to it?
Enjoy
Jessica R @ fromthekitchentotheroad says
Salsa! Yum!
Maria @ Pappa Don't Preach says
I love bodypump almost as much as I love guacamole. In fact, I used guac as my “dip” of choice while eating turkey for lunch today. I also happen to have 2 avocados ripening on my desk at work right now. That’s not weird, right?
Amanda @ .running with spoons. says
Not a fair question! I absolutely adore guac, but I’ve been having the craziest cravings for salsa lately so I’m going to have to go with that one. I love it so much I have no qualms with eating it straight from the jar with a spoon
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
What an awesome idea! Since I do not eat tuna, I might have to try this with chickpeas. I am thinking that it would be a really tasty combination!
Megan says
I love quac and salsa but I would end up choosing salsa if I had to. It is so light and amazing and just makes me happy! I once made salsa using jalepenos but didn’t wear gloves… When I went to put my contacts in in the morning my eyes were on FIRE!!! I had to wear glasses because I couldn’t get my contacts in. I tried EVERYTHING to get the spice off my hands, even sticking my hand in a jar of mayonnaise. Such a pain in the butt.
Pam Cook says
Guacamole all the way! I make fresh guacamole all the time. My neighbors say it is the best and they always request it when we get together for cookouts.

I really love hard boiled eggs with guac. If you liked it with tuna, I bet you’d like it with eggs!
