Today’s workout was a good one thanks to my beloved Nike Training Club app. That app saves me every time I wander into the gym without a game plan.
I knew I wanted to focus on my legs, so I completed the NTC Beach Legs workout and followed it up with some hamstring curls and squats. Plus a short 10-minute cardio warm up and cool down on the elliptical!
Ulta Errands
In between work and my workout, I grabbed a quick shower in the locker room before sneaking off to Ulta to finally purchase the heat protectant I apparently “desperately need,” according to the woman who did my hair for my sister’s wedding. (Speaking of Leslie and Ross’ wedding, the photographer is almost done editing their pictures which means I should have wedding recaps to share with you later this week or early next week. Hooray!)
I intended to buy a heat protectant two weeks ago, but they were out of the one I wanted and as luck would have it, the Nexxus Pro-Mend Heat Protection spray was back in stock at Ulta today! I’ll let you know what I think as soon as I have a chance to use it a few times.
Oh! And as a follow up to those who asked for me to share my thoughts on the hair growth treatment I bought back in October, I just bought more of it today, so that should tell you something.
I’ve been using the Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment For Hair That Never Grows Past A Certain Length (the name totally suckered me into buying it on impulse) about once or twice a week for the past few months and at first I wasn’t sure it was doing anything. I kept using it because I didn’t want to waste it, but it wasn’t until my friend Merri told me that she’s never seen my hair this long when I was in New York last month that I really noticed the length of my hair. (I desperately need a haircut right now, so please don’t mind the stringiness!)
I do think my hair is longer than I remember it ever being before, but not by too much. Still, for my hair to be even an inch longer than its usual length is a victory for me, so I’ll keep on using this stuff for a while to hopefully help with continued growth. Plus, the Amazon reviews are positive, so I’m hoping that means this isn’t all in my head.
Lunch
Before making my way back to work, I drove home to let Sadie out and eat a quick lunch.
Broccoli slaw topped with slivered almonds, a sliced orange, Panera Asian sesame dressing and turkey!
Plus a can of sparkling water on the side.
Back to work!
Question of the Afternoon
- What are some hair products you use that you absolutely love?
Linz @ Itz Linz says
i LOVE “it’s a ten” products (though they should obviously be called “itz a ten”) there are ten benefits they provide your hair and i use a lot of heat and it serves as a heat protectant!
Stephanie says
Redken Extreme Strength Builder Fortifying Mask — my hair is thin and constantly breaking and this stuff helps keep it strong and shiny! Plus it is pretty affordable!
Michelle says
Love the Kenra 25 volumizing spray & the Aquage uplifting foam. They both work wonders on my lifeless hair!
Julie says
I’m intrigued!! My hair is crazy flat so this sounds right up my alley!
Michelle says
Try it! Kenra 25 is a great hairspray to hold into place. You can get it at Ulta. The aquage uplifting foam you have to get from a salon, and the aquage website will direct you to salons in your area.
Maureen says
Kenra is the BEST when it comes to products that add volume to your hair. I have long, thick hair and I swear by Kenra!
Sky @ The Blonde In Black says
I need to buy some of the hair growth treatment! I’ve been trying to grow my hair out for about one year and a half and it’s finally starting to be evidently longer. Hopefully my hair cut on Friday gets it back on track to being healthy and growing. I have been trying to do a weekly coconut oil treatment to my hair. I just rub coconut oil through my hair (not my scalp) and wrap it in a tight bun for about 45 min before I hop in the shower. It seems to help a little bit!
Brianna says
It’s a 10 products are amazing!!!!!! I also use the Tresemme heat protectant and it does a great job at a decent price!
Julie says
My mom loves It’s A 10 stuff, too!
Jackie says
I adore Redkin shampoo and conditioner!
Ashley Pitt @ A Lady Goes West says
I am BIG on dry shampoo these days. I try to limit the amount of times I wash my hair per week, so in between I spray a little dry shampoo on the roots to freshen up. It’s a must after I get super sweaty teaching group fitness. Have you tried any dry shampoos?
Julie says
Yes!! Dry shampoo is my new best friend. 🙂
Amanda says
I like the Moroccan oil products for heat protection. It’s what my hair dresser uses too. That salad sounds delicious! Ibmust recreate!
Julie says
I need to try Moroccan oil! I’ve heard amazing things!
Shauna says
I just use Frizz Eaze after Ig et out of the shower and that’s plenty of heat protectant. Also – do you take Biotin? I do and my nails/hair grow and grow! Just a thought!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
I love a good hair treatment mask! That one you have is so incredibly reasonable! I’ll definitely be seeing can I ship it to Ireland!
Annie says
Speaking of hair… I’ve been DYING to know how you curl yours! I know you posted the flat-iron method a while back, but it seems like you’ve changed it? I know we’d LOVE a tutorial!!
Allison says
Yes tutorial please!! It always looks gorgeous when you curl it!
Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs says
I’ve been using Redken Diamond Oil for a few months now, and love it! It tames my hair enough that I can get away with just blowdrying — I used to straighten it too, but now I don’t have to!
jessica says
I’ve been loving hair oils lately! I have frizz-prone, fine-but-thick, straight-with-a-little-wave hair and I always strive for more volume. The Macademia oil, Organix Argon oil, Beauty Protector Protect & Oil, and even a Moroccan oil by Suave all help tame my locks without weighing them down. Plus they all smell so nice!
Mia @ MakeMeUpMia says
I’ve tried hundreds of products and hair products are just not something I ever have luck with. I have thick, wavy, frizzy hair that hates me. I recently tried the It’s a 10 miracle leave in, I’ll never go without it now. Makes my hair so soft and shiny. LOVE it!
Linda @ running4two says
I can’t wait to see how you like it. I have very think and long hair and I can use all the help I can get. 🙂
Brittney @ Sweets 'N' Greens says
I’ll have to try the hair growth treatment! I just started using Reservage Organics Keratin Booster after a coworker recommended it to me to help my hair grow longer. Excited to see if it works 🙂
Ashlee O. says
Carol’s Daughter Monoi Oil Repairing Hair Mask. Stopped my breakage immediately and helped my hair get back on its way to healthy when nothing else worked!
Rebeka says
I really like Ojon’s Full Detox hair powder. The powder version of dry shampoos always offer so much volume without making my hair feel weird. It also make my hair look clean again even after a few days (a week…) without washing. I also love Big Sexy Hairspray.
Elizabeth {Positively Healthy} says
I am so going to check out these products, I need to do some heat treatment to my hair as well because it is so thin and I am always in the sun and blow drying my hair. I really love the Suave Natural Conditioner for my hair, it has totally made my hair feel super soft.
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
I’m intrigued by that hair growth treatment stuff! I decided to grow back out my hair about a month ago, and I suddenly want my long hair back SO badly!
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves says
I love the Tresemme heat protectant and moroccan oil!
Rachel @ Fairietale Designs says
Dry shampoo is my friend. I get crazy dry skin if I wash my hair too often, and as the mom of two elementary school aged girls, walking around scratching your scalp is something that’s going to get you the stink eye from every mom out there who now worries that your kids have lice! 🙂
I downloaded the NTC app ages ago and have never used it. I’m almost afraid to, but at the same time think I should go for it because I definitely need to ramp up my exercise. Just have to choose the right workout so that I get a good sweat without killing my shoulder or scaring me off!
Rachel @ Health My Lifestyle says
I always use It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product after I wash my hair. Then if I’m blowing drying it and straightening I use L’Oreal Mythic Oil. It makes my hair silky soft, heat protects it, and smells good! I’m considering using coconut oil on my hair sometime because I hear it is really good for dry ends but so far I only use it on my skin. It really holds in the moisture!
And what’s this about Panera Asian Sesame Dressing? Sounds yummy! Where do I find such a thing?
Anne says
Ohhh I just started using the same Nexuss heat protectant a well and am really liking it so far!
I bought mine at Target which was super handy and convenient as my nearest Ulta is in a neighboring town.
Heather@PrettyHealthyMostoftheTime says
Apparently I’m weird (and/or lazy) because I only use shampoo and conditioner (no products). I also end up with a different brand every time I shop. I’m excited to read everyone’s comments and get some ideas!
Livi says
I keep it simple with Tresemme shampoo and conditioner!
Nancy says
Ever since I cut off my hair in 2005/06, it’s been STUCK at this stupid same length for-evah. I’m totally buying that lee Stafford stuff, now that there’s an Ulta around me.
Haley @Cupcakes and Sunshine says
Ohhh I’m definitely needing some hair-repair. Especially since pools and chlorine are on their way. YAY for sunshine! 🙂
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
I thought I was the only one who thought my hair never grew past a certain length! Granted, a LONG length, but it always seems to get stuck at a certain spot!
Annette@FitnessPerks says
I like my hair a bit longer too–but I felt like pregnancy made my hair amazing, so I never dealt with extra stuff. Now it needs a bit of help (losing a bit of hair I think), so I will check that stuff out!
Elisabeth says
I love almost anything Paul Mitchell! I also really like Redken all soft shampoo, Redken maneuver working wax (it’s a guy’s product, but works great with my short hair), It’s a 10 miracle leave in product and Regis silver shine shampoo (purple shampoo that strips brassiness from my blonde highlights). I LOVE hair products…ha!
Nichole says
I really want to look into that hair growth stuff! Mines grown quite a bit on it’s own but a little help would be great!
Barbie says
Pssssstt or Suave dry shampoo!!
Ellie@Fit for the soul says
I don’t use special hair products, but my husband loooooves the BIG SEXY HAIR spray! I tried his before and it did a pretty good job at holding my hair together whilst allowing it to look somewhat natural–not plastered. 😛 And your hair looks too beautiful when it’s wavy like that.
Rachel @ My Adventures as a Rinderknecht says
I love using moroccan oil for my hair. It really helps with the dryness of it. I also like using a heat protectant because it saves my hair when I heat style it. I want to try out that hair growth cream now! Thanks for posting a follow up on how it has been working for you 🙂
Jessica says
You have officially talked me into trying the hair growth treatment. Do you feel like it helps to thicken hair as well? or just grow longer because it’s stronger?
Kinnereth says
Okay, not a hair product, but I LOVE those sparkling waters!!! My fav is the grapefruit flavor 🙂
I’m sure my husband would love it if I did my hair more often. It’s usually up in a ponytail.
Julie says
Me too!!! They are so tasty!
Emily@WhateverFloatsYourOats says
I love Big Sexy Hair hairspray!
Julie says
I do, too!
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun says
I am going to have to try this because I have hair that I swear NEVER grows past a certain point. Thank you for sharing this 🙂
Lara says
My hair constantly gets crazy tangled and the Tangle Teezer is perfect!!!! We had to get two because our cat will actually let us brush her with it!!!
Molly Lynch says
You need to take biotin! I have been taking it for about 2 years now, and my hair just will not stop growing (I have very fine hair that never grew much past my clavicle). It is seriously almost to my belly button. I know this is anecdotal, but all of my friends have since started taking it after seeing my hair, and they all describe their hair as “growing like a weed.”

Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed says
My hair is the longest it’s ever been right now! I’ve been growing it for my wedding and honestly I can’t wait to chop some inches off after the big day. I love the Nexxus shampoo & conditioner but I’ve never tried any of their other products.
Cheri @ Overactive Blogger says
I think your hair is gorgeous!
Also, I cannot step a foot inside of Ulta because I always walk out with all this nail stuff that is so overpriced and stupid of me to buy.
Kelly says
I use Organix shampoo and conditioner and can’t get enough of the smell!
Jill @ The Pinspired Mama says
The Treseme Thermal Creations Heat Protectant Spray is so nice! My hair is pretty flat and can get quite dry in the winter months, but this spray is fabulous! It makes my hair so soft and shiny 🙂
Carla says
people SWEAR BY that Moroccan oil!!
Nicole says
Okay, this is going to sound CRAZY hipster of me. And I am not one of those people. BUT I swear by the “no poo” technique – it has given my hair volume it’s never had before, and made it shiny and healthier than I’ve ever seen it. I just put some baking soda in a bottle with water, leave it in the shower and shake it up before I use it. Dump some on my my noggin, rub it all in until it feels squeeeeaky clean, and then rinse with a little bit of white vinegar. Even with daily workouts, I can literally go days without washing my hair now before it starts to look/feel greasy.
Jamee says
My hair never grows either! I’ve been trying to work on it lately, I used to take the GNC hair skin and nails pills but I never noticed a difference. My hairdresser said I damage by hair because I blowdry and straighten it too much so she recommended using Redken Satinwear – I bought it from Amazon and I’ve been using it for a few weeks and it’s AMAZING! My hair is always smooth after i blow dry and never dry. Now I think I’ll buy that treatment you got to help my hair grow!
Jen @ impossible jen says
