Happy Halloween!
Do you like one of my cotton-themed anniversary gifts from Ryan?
He knows I am a sucker for adorable socks and slippers, so these Halloween socks were right up my alley.
After I opened the socks, Ryan said he never actually checked to see if the socks were really cotton and we had to laugh when we saw that they are, in fact, 100 percent polyester. I’m gonna go ahead and say that our version of the usual cotton theme that is associated with a couples’ second wedding anniversary morphed into “anything remotely cotton-like.” I’m not sure if my gift to Ryan contains real cotton either, but it’s cottonish. Whatever works!
We are officially celebrating our anniversary on an upcoming weekend, so we’re saving our main anniversary gifts for our hot date night, but I’ll be sure to fill you guys in when I finally give him his cotton(ish)-themed gift since I really appreciated all of your help with brainstorming!
Workout + Breakfast
My workout this morning began with last week’s 25 minute elliptical interval workout followed by “Workout B” from Tina’s Best Body Boot Camp. It was a good one!
When Ryan and I arrived home from the gym, it was breakfast time and I made a batch of banana vanilla protein pancakes.
Topped with a bit of syrup!
I also had a cup of Godiva peppermint mocha coffee on the side.
Loving this flavor!
Question of the Morning
- Did you dress up for Halloween this year?
- What is the best Halloween costume you’ve seen recently?
I think the Pac Man family featured in this blog post is awesome!
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
Love the socks! I dressed up as Taco Bell hot sauce and my hubby was a taco! It was so funny!

Cute socks! I am head to toe in polyester today, not something I usually brag about, but today I’m dressed as a PRIEST and having lots of fun in the office 🙂

Those socks are hilarious and awesome!
Amanda @ Romancing the Unusual says
Those socks are hilarious! I never dress up for Halloween because I’m lame like that, but I saw a group of teenagers that were dressed up as scooby do characters. It was adorable!
Blog is the New Black says
Can’t wait to see what you came up with for a gift!

Hate candy corn but loooove those socks!
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
Happy Halloween! I love the socks! I completely forgot to put on my Halloween socks this morning. In fact, I forgot it was Halloween until I turned on the radio this morning. So no costume for me today.
Molly P. says
I had the same problem! I only realized it when I noticed an abnormal amount of people wearing orange on the train this morning haha
Natalie @ Free Range Human says
Love the socks! I was going to dress up this year, but I had a bit of a time crunch this week and couldn’t pull it off. The other day I saw a baby Yoda costume on Pinterest-best thing ever!!
peanutbutterfingers says
i saw a baby wilson (as in the volleyball from castaway) on pinterest and thought it was hilarious! creative baby costumes are so much fun.
Natalie @ Free Range Human says
Oh gosh! That’s hilarious!
Laurie @ Love, Laugh, Laurie says
Those socks are great! Cotton is such an interesting one, I’m excited to see your cotton-ish gift 🙂
Amy says
My coworker and I dressed up as Amazing Race contestants. We bought matching orange sweatshirts, black athletic leggings, tennis shoes- had our amazing race passport, a map and backpacks. It turned out really good!!
Molly P. says
Love those socks! Maybe they’ll have good themed ones for Thanksgiving & Christmas that I can get 🙂
I’m terrible at brainstorming creative costume ideas. And I tend to procrastinate. So I went as a marathon runner this year (pretty easy to assemble since I own running shoes and have bibs from other races) – efficency, I say!
Best costume I’ve seen was this guy that dressed up as Teen Wolf for a Halloween 5k I ran over the weekend. He actually glued fake fur all over his body – it was hilarious!
Laurin says
I have those socks too! I love that they say Happy Halloween on the bottom!
Jennifer says
My husband was Almond Joy and I was Mounds. The back of his costumes says “I’ve got nuts” and mine says “I don’t”.
peanutbutterfingers says
that is so creative!!! and hilarious!
Lisa says
Saw somebody dress as Honey BOO BOO!!
Jess @ JessieBear What Will You Wear says
Ohhhhhhh my lord, those socks are simply too cute. I must obtain them! I actually have a pair similar to that for Christmas 😛
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
I was a motorcycle chick and my husband wore his whole motorcycle suit – easy and didn’t cost anything but 99 cents for the bandana I got at the thrift store.
Mikaela says
I dressed up as Mckayla Maroney, the Olympic gymnast that got silver on the vault and then made the “I’m not impressed face”. We have the same name (spelled differently) and I must say I’m pretty good at making the not impressed face. It was also the perfect costume because I got to wear sweats, sneakers, and my hair in a ponytail (with a scrunchie of course!) while going out. haha.
Meghan @ After the Ivy League says
Happy Halloween! I dressed up as Regina George this year, it was a big hit!
P.S. I wanted to make your pancakes last night, but was so sad when I realized I was out of cottage cheese! Gotta make it to the grocery store soon.
peanutbutterfingers says
if you have greek yogurt, you can try using that, too!! you just might need to reduce the amount a bit.
Meghan @ After the Ivy League says
Awesome, thanks for the tip!
Michelle @ Eat Move Balance says
omg! I love the slippers!!! candy corn is my favorite, so these are right up my alley. too fun!
Taryn says
My boyfriend and I dressed up as Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski last year. He even made a huge cell phone, which was a big hit with everyone at the bar.
Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy says
I’m not dressing up for Halloween, but I am looking forward to passing out candy and seeing all of the cute kiddos!
Kaitlin @4loveofcarrots says
my old roommate in college totally has those socks! So far best costume were the smurfs on big bang theory! I am sad for the kids in my area because of the storm halloween was post poned to november 7th!
Amanda @ .running with spoons. says
Those socks are adorable! I don’t have any Halloween themed socks, but my feet will definitely be celebrating Christmas 😀
Claire @ Keeping Up With Claire says
I saw a family dressed up as flip flops on the Today Show, it was so cute! They all had red hats (supposed to be nail polish) on over their faces because their heads were the big toes. It was cute!
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
Oh my gosh, those socks are adorable! They look so cozy! Perfect for this time of year.
Sarah says
Those pancakes look so, so good! I dressed up as an American flag this year with my friends- so fun 🙂
Happy Halloween!
Rachel Boller says
Cute slippers! I’m a sucker for fuzzy slippers too. I have a thing for rubbing my toes together in fuzzy socks/slippers… don’t ask. I’m not dressing up this year, but my munchkin is going to dress up as a monster! It’s his first year trick-or-treating!
Carly says
My boyfriend and I went out this past weekend as Kermit and Miss Piggy! It was super fun 🙂
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says
Okay… every time I see the pancakes you make I think to myself “Why didn’t I make pancakes this morning?!” I need some pancakes this week! Those look delish!
Not dressing up for Halloween or doing anything this year. Haven’t seen that many good costumes, but for some reason my husband was completely enamored with a giant gorilla costume this year. So odd. Happy Halloween!
Julie says
Oh those are adorable socks!
Liz @ IHeartVegetables says
I was “trending” for halloween! I had a blue twitter shirt with a #costume written on the front 😉
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I dressed up as a Runaway Bride for our halloween 5K this past Sunday, that was a blast! Other than that, no costumes for me. My birthday was yesterday so the week tends to be more about my birthday than halloween for me. I did see a guy last night in a big bumble bee costume… The best part is he was alone waiting for the bus.
Grace @ Practicing Grace says
LOVE those slippers. Awww so cute. I can’t wait to whip out my onesie during Christmas. I was Pochahontas this weekend…wore shorts under the outfit to reduce the scandal ha.
Alice says
Those socks are so cute! I have a craving for pancakes now 🙂 My favourite costume was a tiny girl dressed up as a giant pumpkin, so darn cute.
Krista @ Blonde Aesthetic says
I went as Sheldon from Big Bang theory to a party over the weekend. It was awesome and super comfy. My favorite costume I saw was Bill Lumberg (the boss from Office Space) he even had the coffee mug.
Katie @ KatieEnPursuit says
Fun socks plus they look warm & cozy! I’m not a huge costume fan, do love the kids who dress up & the candy though 🙂 My girlfriend is dressing her 8-month old son uf as “Fat Bastard” from Austin Powers, kilt & all. That should be a pretty good one! Enjoy the day.
Beks says
I love socks like that! I get new ones every year at Christmas. They’re fabulous!
Allison says
Love the socks! I’m gonna be a mummy and wrap myself in tp because I’m feeling too lazy to do anything else. The original plan was to be cloudy with a chance of rain… cotton ball clouds glued/pinned on a blue sweatsuit with a water bottle to “rain” on people… there is always next year! Happy Halloween!
Simone says
I wish I could dress up but seeing as I work from home it might be a touch weird, halloween party of one 🙂
Annette@FitnessPerks says
CUTE socks!
I wore orange & black to teach BodyPump, and I’m wearing orange and black at work (I work from home, so no sense, really, in dressing up. Hah)
Alexa @ Southern Living, Our Way says
I watch the Ellen show every day after work and last week she had kids on her show dressed in hilarious costumes. My favorite was one girl dressed as a beehive, then Ellen put a giant bandaid on her and she was “Honey Boo Boo”!!! Cracked me up. If I’d seen it earlier, I totally would have supported the awfulness that is HBB and made the costume somehow. Shameless, I know 🙂
Jenna says
those pancakes look so delish! what kind of syrup do you use in your house?
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie says
Josh and I were penguins this year for halloween! My favorite was last year, we were minnie and mickey! I love those socks!
Tina @ Best Body Fitness says
I’m still so dang in love with those. Tell Ryan to send me a pair. I’ll be waiting.
Michelle says
Love your socks!!! So cute! I didn’t dress up….best one I’ve seen is the kid in wheelchair and his parents built him an ice cream truck around it! So cool!
Dee says
I made myself a peacock costume to wear during the Halloween half marathon! I was inspired by the cute little girl on Pinterest (I’m sure you’ve come across it before!) 🙂
