Last week I looked like a bumble bee, and today I look like the holiday itself.
I’ve had at least five people tell me I look very Halloweenie today.
I must admit that I felt like the epitome of Halloween when I got dressed this morning. If you wear orange and black in October you’re just asking for Halloween-related comments!
Lunch
Lunch today included leftovers from Sunday night’s dinner.
Though I didn’t blog about it, Ryan and I enjoyed rotisserie chicken and I used some of the leftover breast meat to create a BBQ chicken salad sandwich this afternoon.
To make the chicken salad, I combined:
- 3 ounces pulled chicken
- 1 tbsp. light Miracle Whip
- 1 tbsp. BBQ sauce
- 1 large handful broccoli slaw
I served the BBQ chicken salad on a Nature’s Own Whitewheat hot dog bun along with sliced green peppers.
The other day Ryan and I were debating about something oh-so-serious: Tuna salad vs. chicken salad.
I’m a tuna salad girl, all the way! Ryan is a chicken salad boy.
Now it’s back to work until I meet my mom for my FINAL DRESS FITTING tonight!
After the horror of my first fitting, I’m crossing my fingers that this one goes off without a hitch.

Question of the Afternoon
Time for you to weigh in…
Do you prefer tuna salad or chicken salad (or neither)?
Kayla (eats healthy) says
Aww, I love your Halloween outfit! 🙂
I love chicken AND tuna salad any day! In fact, I had a tuna salad wrap for lunch today!
peanutbutterfingers says
you have to pick one! 😉
Gavi @ GaviGetsGoing! says
I prefer neither, but I do love both chicken and tuna separately! I’m just not into mayo, unfortunately…but I do like tuna and chicken salad made with mustard and pickles. Yummy! Love your “Halloween-chic” attire! 🙂
Stephanie @ The Cookie Battle says
If I HAD to chose, I would almost always pick chicken salad…unless it was from this one place that used to be near my old job…they had the most unbelievable tuna salad sandwichs on a thick pita that blew my mind away. Now I am craving one hardcore.
Stephanie @ The Cookie Battle says
Ugh, that should be choose. I can spell, I promise.
Amanda Davis says
I’m not a fan of either because I really dislike mayonnaise but I recently tried hummus instead of mayo for egg salad and really enjoyed that so I might have to try it with chicken and tuna
Paige @ Running Around Normal says
Aww, I really like the Halloween ‘fit!
Jessica says
You look so cute in your Halloween-esque outfit 🙂
As for your question of the day…tuna salad all the way. I do like both chicken and tuna salads but tuna is my all-time favorite. The flavor of the fish melds so well with the ingredients yet doesn’t become overshadowed by the other ingredients. Chicken in chicken salads can sometimes take a back seat to flavor.
Also, I love that you use the broccoli slaw in lots of things. When I first starting reading your blog, I was so excited to see you do the exact same thing I do sometimes: handful of broccoli slaw and low cal italian dressing. Yum!
peanutbutterfingers says
broccoli slaw ROCKS!
Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life) says
Where do you get orange shorts?? Too cute. And it seems like your office has a relaxed dress code- how great!
I don’t have many ‘salads’ usually, but today I randomly had egg salad- it was pretty good! I also enjoy tuna!
peanutbutterfingers says
they’re from banana republic… and yes, my office is VERY laid back. jeans are welcome & guys even wear hats…
D says
Tuna all the way! so sooo good. The problem is the smell, so it doesn’t make too many work day appearances. Tuna sandwiches were a staple for me growing up.
P.S. Tonight I am making your BBQ meatloaf, so excited!
peanutbutterfingers says
ahhh i hope you love it!
Cynthia says
That is a really tough question. But I think I would have to say chicken salad. So tasty!
Heather (Heather's Dish) says
i’m going with a big fat ‘neither’…it’s all about the egg salad! woohoo! 🙂
emily says
If I had to pick I’d go with chicken, because it’s a bit more versatile!
I cannot wear orange and blacktogether unless I am specifically dressing for Halloween. Same from green and red! Not gonna lie, I judge people who wear green and red together outside of December! 😀
Lindsay @ The Ketchup Diaries says
Love both, but I’m more apt to be a tuna salad girl too.
erica says
both!!!
your outfit is super cute (as always):)
Marg says
I’m all for chicken, since I don’t eat seafood.
I’m jealous you can wear shorts to work!
Amber K says
Neither! No meat for me.
The outfit is super cute!!
Hope says
Definitely chicken salad! Delicious!
Amanda (Eating Up) says
I hated tuna salad until last year and always loved chicken salad–especially my grandma’s. I’m gonna have to stick with my longest love and say chicken for the win!
Andrea says
If anyone can pull off orange shorts it’s you! Love the outfit.
Rachel @ The Avid Appetite says
chicken! My husband claims they are the same…but I do not like tuna salad at all! I love chicken salad! 🙂
Chicago Cuisine Critique says
Good luck with the fitting. I am definitely a bigger tuna salad fan, but chicken salad can hit the spot some times! 🙂
Jess says
good luck with the fitting! i actually don’t like tuna, so I’m a chicken salad fan 🙂
Corey @ Runners Cookie says
I can’t stand the smell of tuna, so definitely chicken salad! Have fun at the dress fitting!
Katie says
Tuna salad all the way!! With a little bit of onion in the mix 🙂
Becca says
I could really go either way, but if I had to choose tuna all the way!
Jaclyn says
As a pescatarian, I have to go with tuna salad all the way! I love your addition of bbq sauce though!
Jaime says
I LOVE “chicken of the sea!” And I mean that in a totally Jessica Simpson way!
Annamaria says
hey Julie!! I just started reading your blog a few days ago, and I absolutely looove your posts and your overall style of being fit! im 17 years old, and an aspiring nutritionist 🙂 i love finding new healthy recipes to surprise my family with, most of the time IM the one making dinner! haha 🙂
my family is from europe, so im alll for fish.. gottaa say tuna salad 🙂 have you ever tried crabmeat salad with apples, celery, lemon and mayo?? it sounds weird, but its sooo good.
by the way, i just indulged on a couple PB fingers…:D your blog helps me keep my motivation to stick with a balanced diet, thank you!!
peanutbutterfingers says
thanks for your kind comment! that crab salad sounds fantastic! i make a chicken salad w/ similar ingredients, but i’ve never tried it w/ crab. yum!
Shanna, like Banana says
NEITHER! Mayo makes me want to gag as does tuna fish. I eat some chicken, but shred it and put it with mayo and it might as be poison.
Do you sense my strong objection 😉
Alyssa says
Tuna, tuna, tuna! Chicken sometimes has a fishy smell to it, so to me, it can kinda be like tuna. Sooo.. I prefer tuna salad with relish, mayo, onion, and celery =D
Kyla says
Tuna but has to be homemade. I find store or deli bought has way to much mayo, ends up tasting like a mayo sandwich.
Liz @ Blog is the New black says
NEITHER! MAyo is my MOST hated food! 😉
Becca says
TUNA SALAD.
That chicken salad stuff doesn’t taste right to me. :\ If we’re doing tuna salad and chicken salad sandwiches at home for lunch, we always make a thing of each, because we each prefer something different. Although I think my dad will eat either one. 😛 But I can’t stand the chicken stuff. Regular chicken, yes please. Chicken salad sandwich, nothankyou. 🙂
Sarah-Mae @ Eat, Run, Knit says
Very Halloweeny indeed! But I think it’s a super cute outfit!
As for me, I’m a tuna salad girl. I love tuna salad!
SaraRM says
TUNA!! But not a big mayo fan these days. I like the idea of chicken salad but havent really havent had any that I was in love with so I never really eat it. I do love me some egg salad though!
SaraRM says
Obviously I didnt read what I wrote before I press submit.
Jamie @ Food in Real Life says
I wore a Halloween outfit to the gym last night! Black pants, orange top 🙂 I’m a tuna salad girl!
Jamie @ Food in Real Life says
Oh and GOOD luck at the fitting!!
Lizzy says
Sitting on the sofa watching the OC and eating peanut butter straight outta the jar with nestle chocolate chips…made me think about this lovely little blog!!!
p.s. Chicken salad fo’ sho’
Mellissa says
Ick to both, I just can’t stand mayo.
Good luck at the fitting!
Blyn says
Just found your site! It is great! Love the outfit.
I do love both but if I gotta pick…TUNA with apples, light mayo..yum!
Lisa @ I'm an Okie says
Neither. I’m NOT a mayo fan. You can chase me around the room with a jar of mayo, I hate it hat much.
Alicia says
If I had to choose it would be chicken, but I’m not a fan of mayo so I would say neither. Super cute orange shorts!
VeggieGirl says
Love the outfit!
Tuna salad, all the way.
Sara says
TUNA! I grew up eating tuna sandwiches. My hubby, however, hates fish. He’s a chicken salad kind guy. 🙂
Kaella says
Tuna salad all the way!! I just need to add diced celery, onions and pepper and I’m a happy girl! Yummy! Now I want tuna for dinner 😉
Katy says
I love tuna salad, but I have to vote chicken salad on this one because of my favorite sandwich served at my favorite restaurant. I’m not talking about the super mayo slathered chicken salad, but one made with GOAT CHEESE! Holy-YUM!
Here is the description on their menu:
House roasted chicken, red and green grapes, celery, carrots, and toasted almonds, blended with creamy goat cheese. Served on grilled cracked wheat bread.
BEST. EVER.
Lauren says
Haha, that is just like wearing red/green in December. It’s a festive fashion statement. That’s okay, someone told me I looked like pepper today because I was wearing black and grey. LoL
Bess @ Bess Be Fit says
I can’t pick! I love both…I wonder if I should experiment with trying a mix of tuna/chicken salad…hmm…
jane says
No joke I came home from bootcamp tonigt and made some broccoli slaw and tuna salad. Then I turn on the computer and start cruising blogs and see your post. What a coinkidink!
christina cadden says
Love your outfit!
AllieNic @ Frisky Lemon says
I had chicken salad for the first time a few weekends ago– my mama made it for me with canned artichoke hearts….Delish! I think I’m converting from tuna to chicken…
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
I cannot wait for Halloween!!! 😀
