Happy Father’s Day!
A very special father’s day wish to my father…
The man who prayed for two girls because he wasn’t sure he could handle two boys
The man who got his two girls and made them his world
The man who taught me how to throw a baseball (and subsequently hit me in the thigh with the ball, leaving a bruise the size of my head)
The man who hid a red light deep in the forest behind our house every Christmas Eve so we could go on a walk and “see Rudolph” in the distance
The man who took his five-year-old daughter to Hooter’s to eat clams
The man who taught me how to eat whipped cream straight from the can
The man who tickles relentlessly
The man who asked me what I did to be a boss and a leader every night at dinner
The man who insisted that I take a personal finance class in college, even though it had nothing to do with my major
The man who held rock ‘n’ roll dance parties in the living room
The man who tells more people about my blog than I do
The man who loves his family with all that he is
The man I know I am so lucky to have as my father
The man I will always call “Daddy” no matter how old I am
I love you, Daddy!
Happy Father’s Day!

Aw, Julie, this brought tears to my eyes. The relationship between you and your father is something that I’ve always dreamed of having. Father’s Day always (well, used to) make me so sad because my own father left when I was really little. I know some peoples’ fathers have passed away, but it’s still hard when your own father *chooses* to not be a big part of your life. It hurts a lot. At least I can choose the right person to be the future father of my own kids. That knowledge is what is making today better. I avoided writing a post today because I’ve been so mopey. But I finally whipped one out and put a positive spin on what I deem Father’s Day to be to me. It’s all about mentality, right?

what a sweet post! your dad looks like so much fun. My dad had two girls as well, and we say the same thing, God knew if he had boys he would end up killing them, so he got girls lol!
