September is upon us and I am more than ready for some cooler weather. Though I know I will be sweating my face off in Florida for another month or two, the beginning of September reminds me that fall is on its way. Hooray!
This month I have quite a few fun things on my agenda. In chronological order:
- Teaching My First TRX Class: Beginning tomorrow, I’ll be teaching a TRX class at my gym on Thursdays. I trained with one of the guys at my gym last week and am looking forward to taking over the class!
- Las Vegas for Merri’s Bachelorette Party: I am so excited for this bachelorette party I can barely stand it! The hype emails, texts and phone calls are in full force right now and my girlfriends and I are counting down the hours until our flights leave before dawn on Friday morning. Our itinerary for the weekend is basically a non-stop party. I’m a little scared.
- Avicii Pool Party: This is one of the items on our Vegas itinerary and I am psyched! I love Avicii and a bunch of his songs always seem to find their way on to my running playlists. Great pump-up music! I also went shopping for a new bathing suit for the party last Friday and stumbled upon some super sale bikinis at BCBG and Marshalls. (The BCBG bikinis were 80 percent off and the teal bottoms from Marshalls were only $5!)
- LiveStrong Training: At the end of the week next week, I’ll be participating in the second part of my training for this 12-week program for adult cancer survivors that is going to come to my gym very soon. I’m looking forward to it!
- Florida Blogger and Social Media Conference: I love this conference and am pretty sure I will be attending it in Orlando again this year. I learned so much last year and have it marked on my calendar. Assuming I am not craving a weekend at home after lots of traveling, I’ll be there! Just in case you’re interested, here are my recaps from the conference last year: Part I, Part II, Part III
- Trip to Canada: In late September I am heading to Quebec and cannot wait to explore. Lots of outdoor activities are on the agenda!
Lunch
Lunch today was easy peasy. I simply reheated leftovers from last night’s dinner.
Last night I cooked up the amberjack that my dad got while spearfishing with all of us on Monday. I added corn and onion to the pan and seasoned everything with Old Bay, Garlic Gold and pepper before topping it with avocado.
It was just as good the second time around!
Question of the Afternoon
- What is one thing you’re looking forward to in September?
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
I am obsessed with Old Bay seasoning, which is pretty funny since I don’t eat fish! 😉

Vacation to Cabo San Lucas next Tuesday, my 2nd anniversary, and the leaves changing colors!

You do have a fun jam packed September ahead! We have a busy and fun September too. My husband’s birthday is in a week and a half, and we’re also doing The Dirty Dash that same day. My in-laws are coming in from out of town to visit, and then we’re taking a trip to southern California for a friend’s wedding in late September! It’ll be a fun month! I’m sure it’ll FLY by!
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves says
Sounds like an incredible month ahead! The TRX class sounds like it will be really fun. And you’ve gotta love Marshall’s deals!
I am looking forward to starting senior year of high school this month. Kinda dreading it at the same time. Hello, college applications! It’s all good though 🙂
Tara@PNWRunner says
I really want to try a TRX class. If I was anywhere near you I’d love to try yours. Sadly, I am on the opposite side of the USA. Bummer! Sounds like you have yet another fun filled month! I am trying to go to Canada too (it is like 3 hours away) and Portland! Woot!
Samantha @ Anatomy of My World says
I would love to hear more about the cancer survivor program that your gym is starting up! I am in grad school and am currently starting a research proposal based on the topic of Cancer and Rehabilitation. I’ve been researching different things to focus on and your 12 week program is intriguing me….
Christie says
I’m looking forward to some NFL! Love not only watching the games, but every Sunday, or which ever day the Eagles play, my siblings and I head to my parents and we make a family day/get together out of it.
And of course, the cooler fall weather 🙂
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Buying new boots, pumpkin, plums and pears…blackberry picking! The Irish health exhibit which our restaurant has one of the biggest booths at! Getting back to running when my foot heels…has to be this month! The darker nights…makes going to bed earlier so much easier! Seriously…all of your friends are getting married at the moment!!! Lucky your a bridesmaid or you’d be broke from all the dress buying!
Karen R @www.fabinyour40s.com says
Julie: Quebec is gorgeous. You will love the city! My husband and I rented a cabin on a lake in Vermont the last week of September. Looking forward to that. Plus, all the New England agricultural fairs are here. Going to one this weekend and that should be fun.
Kristi says
I did my second TRX work out class yesterday and I’m feeling it today! My husband tried to convince me it was called T-Rex
Danica says
So awesome that you are visiting Canada? Have you been before? Unfortunetly I’m from Toronto so I don’t have any great tips for visiting Quebec.
This month I will be going to the Gluten Free Expo that is coming here and also a blogging event for Lifestyle/Design Bloggers called Blogpodium! Funny enough I just wrote about a fun September as well!! http://www.countrychicrenovator.com/2013/09/september-happenings-gluten-free-expo.html

Thanks Julie!!

Sounds like quite a busy and eventful month! As of now, I don’t have many exciting things planned for the month of September. The only major thing I’m doing is going to Ohio for a work thing, but that’s not too exciting.
Carly @ Snack Therapy says
Love the bikinis, especially the navy blue one. Good luck with your TRX class — those things are KILLER.
Taylor @ Single-tracked Mind says
I’ve never tried TRX but am dying to!
Shay @ Whine Less, Breathe More says

Your September sounds like my mid-July to mid-August! Thankfully, I am staying put until at least October. I am looking forward to my first 5k next week (my first race was a half marathon), my school’s inaugural football opener, and celebrating a friend’s birthday! Fun 😀
Beth H. says
I’m looking forward to pumpkin spice lattes returning and my brothers wedding at the end of the month.
Samantha says
Vegas pool parties are the best! My sister and I went a month ago and had the best time that we planned another trip for September the moment we got home!
Seeing Avicii is definitely high on my list of to-dos when we go again. “Wake Me Up” came on when we were at TAO and I nearly fell off the table I was dancing on because I was so excited! Ahh! Have so much fun can’t wait to hear what you think!
Erin says
Hi Julie!
I like you look at fall as starting in September but then walk outside to still be met by 90+ degree weather! I can’t wait for pumpkin spice lattes and official scarf weather (i’ve rocked a scarf with a tank top a couple of times but it’s just not the same:))
Also total side note, I tried BodyPump for the first time and LOVED IT!!!!!!! I totally see the obsession.
Have a great Wednesday!
Sarah says
ummm, I do hope you are planning on going to see the Backstreet Boys in Vegas this weekend! I wanted to go, but my husband told me that was a ridiculous reason to go to Vegas 😛 haha I disagree with him! haha
Emily says
Where in Quebec are you going? (big province lol)
If you’re going to Quebec City definitelyyy check out the old city, upper town and lower town. The Dufferin Terrace where the Chateau Frontenac is located has some amazing views. For some traditional Quebecois poutine check out Chez Ashton!
If you’re looking to do something active go to Montmorency Falls and go all the way down the steps then climb the steps all the way back up!
I realize this comment is useless if you’re not going to quebec city, but I was a tour guide there this summer so I have a lot of info! I can also help if you’re going to Montreal.
Happy travels 🙂
Becky @ Olives n Wine says
Ah Vegas! I’m so jealous!! 😉 Pool parties there are a blast! I’m looking forward to starting a new job which – of course – means shopping for new work clothes and everything pumpkin!
Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs says
I’m definitely looking forward to fall wardrobe (boots! scarves! layers! YAY!), warm comfort food, and seasonal Starbucks drinks — yum!
Jackie Macharsky says
I’m looking forward to my friends wedding!
Karey @ Nutty About Health says

I’m looking forward to going to Great America this month & my birthday! 🙂

I’m working a TON in September (all fall, really), so I’m looking forward to lazy Sundays watching some football!
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables says
I just tried TRX bands recently and I loved them! Wish I could take your class!
Leah says
Vegas, baby!
Gabrielle says
Hey Julie! I’m 100% french canadian, borned and raised in Québec! I live in Montréal but know quite a lot about my lovely province! If ever you need help or tips, let me know I’ll gladly help you! September is probably one of the nicest month here! Leaves change color on trees and the temperature is perfect for traveling and visiting 🙂
Megan (The Lyons' Share) says
Totally agree with your thoughts on the start of fall – it doesn’t feel like it in Texas, either, but all the buzz in the blog world about fall flavors has gotten me excited! I’m looking forward to a 20K, a concert I’m going to with my husband (Yellowcard), and my 10-year HS reunion (ah!).
Annette@FitnessPerks says
You have some fun stuff on the agenda! 🙂
September brings a work conference. Annnnnd final prep for baby girl’s arrival next month!
Naomi says
I am looking forward to all sorts of fall things (Pumpkin!), hopefully cooler temperatures, and diving into my graduate program. Hopefully it won’t seem quite so intimidating once things start rolling!
Tara says
Hi Julie!
I’m originally from Quebec (a small town!), but I have lived in Montreal and Quebec City. They are quite different (both are awesome!). I can’t wait to hear more about your travels and will be happy to give you a suggestion. 🙂
Also, I’m in Ottawa, which is the national capital and beautiful in the fall. It’s about two hours west of Montreal if you have the time. Definitely worth a visit!
Marissa Marchena says
I just went to a bachelorette party in Vegas about a month ago. It was amazing and you’re absolutely right…it’s a non-stop party. The pool parties are great, be careful what you take in whatever bag you’re going to use at the pool! We had random, simple things taken away like gum and Advil.
You’ll have a blast! If you guys have what clubs and parties you want to attend, make sure to talk with the different club promoters because they’ll get you on lists which will prevent waiting in long lines. We were given a very expensive table and free alcohol all night, FREE, just because one of our girls knew who to talk to. Good Luck! Drink lots of water!! You don’t realize how dehydrated you get.
Samantha says
They took my gum too! My advil was hidden well enough that they didn’t snag that 😉 They also tried to take my foldy water bottle (the collapsable plastic kind) so I was forced to check it. So frustrating! The foldy water bottle was great for nighttime though–free water all night!
Bring gatorade and snacks for sure. Food in vegas isn’t the best and is SO EXPENSIVE. Hopefully your hotel has a good food court! We stayed at the Monte Carlo last time and it rocked because of its combo of Rubios (mexican), McDonalds, Starbucks and Subway (I ate Subway 3 times to get a few veggies in my system!).
And don’t forget the 5-hour energies! Only time I will EVER drink them is in Vegas. Sleeping is for when you get home.
Lauren says
I went to Vegas a month ago as well and Avicii’s pool party at Marquee was easily the highlight of the trip, so you’re definitely doing it right! And I agree with talking to promoters to get on guest lists to skip long lines. We got free alcohol and a very expensive table for free at Hakkasan on Saturday night when Tiesto was playing because one of my girlfriends talked to a promoter. Hope you have an amazing time!! I cant wait to go back 🙂
Mademoiselle B says
What!!!?? You are going to Quebec? I live in Quebec city! Which cities are you going to visit?
Laura @losingrace says
Vegas AND Quebec, consider me extremely jealous. I have only been to vegas once but would love to go back. As for Quebec, I have been many times and absolutely love it there! Enjoy the adventures!
September is kind of whirlwind for me this year, I’m just gonna hope all the fun of it doesn’t fly too fast. My birthday today, my fiances birthday Friday, a few races this month along with lots of other things going on- I may need a long nap after this month actually 🙂
Heather @fitncookies says
I’ve tried TRX and LOVED it! I wish gyms around here had them. Good luck teaching it! You have had quite the busy weekends! So much to look forward to.. I am just looking forward to cooler weather, outdoor days, hikes, etc.
Haelena Bondi says
I’m really looking forward to all of the pumpkin flavored things that start to come out the end of September. And I’m looking forward to some cooler weather as I am currently without air conditioning! 🙁
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
You’re coming to Canada?!?!? Woot woot! Is this your first time? I don’t live in Quebec (more like 1 hour outside Toronto) but I was in Montreal in May. Sounds like you’ve got a great month ahead! I’m most excited about starting to teach spin classes again, as well as completing a new fitness certification (Piloxing – a mix of pilates, dance, and boxing – SO much fun!)
Andrea @ The Fit Scoop says
I love TRX! I have my own and have taken classes with it. I want to take their certification course – I’ve heard it’s great.
I’m most looking forward to my 4 year wedding anniversary on the 12th!
Gaby - Fitness Trainer Toronto says
Looks like you have a busy month ahead. And good job on your swimsuit finds. $5 for that bottom? What a steal!
Lauren says
Whoa an Avicii pool party? That sounds like so much fun!
I’m so ready for September to be here in full swing. Cooler weather is much appreciated!
Christa @ Situps & Sequins says
I LOVE TRX! Good luck teaching your first class!
To me, September means cooler weather (hopefully) and…the start of all things pumpkin! Hello PSLs! 🙂
