Last night I had plans to meet up with my friends Minda and Brett for dinner.
Minda and I were suitemates for several years in college and she is immersed in wedding planning at the moment. (You might remember when we met up and went bridesmaid dress shopping in December!) I met Brett through Minda in college (they’ve been friends since childhood) and it was great to see her again, too!
We met up a little after 6 p.m. at Mai Thai in Jacksonville. Earlier that day, I had a pretty fabulous speech-to-text fail surrounding these plans…
So, so great.
When I arrived, I found Brett and Minda sipping on some hot green tea which sounded perfect. It was a little chilly and raining rather hard when I arrived and drinking tea in a cozy restaurant with friends was the perfect way to spend a dreary Wednesday night.
For dinner I ordered the Gang Keow Whan (green curry in coconut milk with mixed vegetables and jasmine rice).
It was fantastic. The coconut milk made it extra creamy and the different spices they used in the curry were phenomenal. I need to find an awesome Thai place in Ocala!
We ended up hanging out for more than two hours and I loved every minute of it.
Breakfast
This morning I was up in the four o’clock hour. My dad had an early flight out of the Jacksonville airport and I said I’d drop him off which meant that we were awake at 4:20 a.m. Yikes!
I’m hoping that my early wake up time will make it easier for me to fall asleep on my evening flight to London and help me adjustment to the time change a little easier. 4:20 a.m. in Jacksonville is 8:20 a.m. in London, after all!
Once I got back from dropping my dad off at the airport, I hopped back into bed with my laptop (and Sadie) and worked until my morning appetite started talking to me.
Snug as a bug in a rug.
For breakfast, I made myself a yogurt bowl with vanilla Greek yogurt, dried fruit, Cheerios and a spoonful of almond butter.
I also ate a couple of handfuls of trail mix as I was assembling my yogurt bowl.
Time to get things rollin’!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Sadie is totally giving you the “mom, can I go back to bed PUH-LEASE?!” look… 😉
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Haha too funny about that text! Glad you had a great dinner – I love Thai food! I woke up this morning in the 4 o’clock hour as well, but not by choice. My eyes popped open and I couldn’t fall back to sleep after that. Hopefully a little nap during lunch or after work will help power me through!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
I saw that brand of yogurt in Greek yogurt form here in Colorado but didn’t end up getting it, do you like it? And Sadie is adorable, as always 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
it was good, but i wouldn’t regularly buy it b/c it has almost 30 grams of sugar.
Avery @ Southern Belle Living Well says
HA! That’s a good one. Gotta love that auto-correct! Your dinner looks simply wonderful. Decently healthy, plus sounds AMAZING. Sadie is literally the most adorable dog ever (next to my Bentley, of course 😉 OOooooo have fun in London/Ireland! I can’t wait to read the recaps!
Jan @ Sprouts n Squats says
Sadie looks so cute under the covers!
Your yoghurt bowl looks delicious. I had a yoghurt bowl for dinner as I love them so much 🙂
Renae @ MissFit Mixed Chick says
Hahaha your text! I think those are the funniest things to read. Speech to text only has worked perfectly for me a couple of times. Other than, I end up having to text anyway or delete words.
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
Haha!! That speech-to-text mix-up totally cracks me up!! You have to love when things like that happen!! 😉
Awww, what a sweet Sadie pup. She looks like she wants to say, “why are we awake THIS early??”
Sloane @ Life Food and Beer says
I think a one hour time change messes me up more than 4-6 hours. Weird I know!!
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says
Wow that dinner looks fantastic! Thai food never sounds good to me, but whenever I get it, I’m like “THIS IS AMAZING!”
Erica @ Love the Leap says
http://www.damnyouautocorrect.com you’ve probably seen this before, but your text looks like it could belong! Hahah 🙂
Jackie Macharsky says
What kind of trail mix is that? Looks good!
Claire @ Flake and Cake says
That Thai food looks insanely good Julie! And very funny on the auto correct!
Shannon @ Skinny Sometimes says
You’re text to speech just made my morning! I’ve never subbed yogurt for milk with cereal and I think I should really get around to doing that stat. I usually avoid cereal because it’s not filling for me, but I bet with the Greek yogurt it would be.
Melanie @ Beautifully Nutty says
That text cracks me up! Dinner looked fabulous! I can’t wait to hear about your adventures in London! My husband and I are planning on going to London and Paris at the end of the year!
Nicole @ Fruit 'N' Fitness says
I love Thai food, especially coconut milk curry! Best advice when you get to London is to not take a nap during the day. I always find that staying up all day and then going to bed at an early hour is the easiest way to adjust to the time change.
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
I’ve never had Thai food before. It’s something I’ve always wanted to try! 🙂
Catie says
Well your waking up time is about 12 hours off but goes well with your speech-to-text fail!
Jess @ PrettyPhysicist says
When I flew to London, I also flew overnight. I had trouble sleeping on the plane and landed around 9:30 AM. What helped me adjust was to basically just stay up all day until a normal bed time. After that, I was perfectly adjusted. It was even easier coming home.
Ashley @ Life and Fitness says
Hahahaha love the text, too funny!
alyssa @ life a la wife says
There is a great thai place in palm beach gardens if you are ever down that way called Talay Thai – It’s one of my favorites!
Tori L says
Haha your text is too funny! You need to send it in to Ellen for her “clumsy thumsy” segments!
Kristin says
I had a similar autocorrect accident this weekend. I was on my way to a friend’s dad’s surprise 50th birthday and let this one slip. And I quote “Hey I made a stop on the way, I am eating out your dad so you don’t waste the good surprise on me!” It was supposed to say waiting out your dad…d’oh! Needless to say my friend was dying when I got there and I hadn’t even noticed.
Mary @ minutes per mile says
I love Thai food! Peanut butter and yogurt, though, is just too much for me. I love them both separately but together the textures are too much! I have no idea why I am sharing this with you but just Jun case anyone was wondering, there it is.
Casey says
That Liberte yogurt is SO GOOD. That’s why it’s 260 calories for the little container, ha. I eat it for dessert sometimes.
Heather says
I saw your auto correct #fail on instagram yesterday. Too funny. Those websites with all the autocorrects make me laugh so hard my cheeks hurt!
Kaitlin @4loveofcarrots says
hahaha you gotta love autocorrect or speech to text mishaps!! How did you like the liberte yogurt!? I am seeing them everywhere but have yet to try them!
peanutbutterfingers says
it was delicious! but probably more of a dessert than a nutritional yogurt, to be honest. 🙂

Love Thai food, my go to when eating out.

Linz @ Itz Linz says

Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
When I went to Scotland two years ago, I spent the week before adjusting my bed/wake up times to try to outsmart jet lag — the night before we left I went to bed at 7 p.m. and got up at 3 a.m.! I was sure this would guarantee that I’d sleep like a baby on the plane and be ready and rarin’ to go when we arrived in Scotland. I was wrong haha. Ohhh well! At least I got a run in before I spent all day on the plane? 😛
Mike @ Midwestern Bite says
There’s a great Thai place just a few miles from my work. I’m there so often I don’t even have to order. 🙂
Cori @ olivetorun says
I saw that picture on your instagram yesterday and I could NOT stop laughing about it. I’ve had so many text fails!

Stephanie says
I have drove past that place to and from my work and I always wondered how the food was. Now I want to try it!
Lauren says
Hahaha I hate the speech-to-text messaging. It’s so convenient but I swear it only knows about 100 words. The presentation of the food is amazing! It’s so pretty!
Meghan @ After the Ivy League says
Sounds like a good plan to adjust to London time…and if that doesn’t work, there’s always coffee! I swear I live off coffee when I’m dealing with jetlag!
Victoria @ Reluctantly Skinny says
Thai food is the best! I need a text to speech app – which one do you use?
Sara @ fitcupcaker says
I swear smart phones have minds of their own lol. I love trail mix, if I don’t watch out though I could eat a whole bag!
Fizz @ fizzsbizz says
I can’t believe you’re going to London tonight!!! How are you ever going to make it through the day? I’m such a baby on the day of a big exciting vacation. Is it time yet? Is it time yet??

Glad you enjoyed getting high, I mean Thai!! 😉 I’ve only had thai food a few times but it always looks so fresh and delicious they way they plate the food.
