Here it is!
My home office!
My office definitely doesn’t have a “designer’s touch” because, let’s face it, I’m no interior designer by any stretch of the imagination, but I am really happy with my new work space.
It’s simple, bright, efficient and it makes me smile.
It’s the only room in the house that I felt like I could make as girly and “cluttered” as I wanted to because it’s a space that’s basically all mine since I am the only one who uses it day in and day out for hours on end.
Some of my favorite things include…
The antique bucket pictured above that came from my grandma’s house, sitting on a yellow dining tray that was a wedding gift from one of my best friends and bridesmaids, Leah. (You may see a recap of her wedding here.)
And this birdcage that served as a card collector on our wedding day!
I also love this neat race medal display that I got as a Christmas gift last year.
Oh and my desktop background is pretty darn cute, too.
The yellow cart to the right of my desk was one of my first DIY home décor projects when I graduated from college. I bought the wooden cart from a garage sale and spray painted it yellow.
All of the office furniture is from IKEA, except for my chair, the yellow cart and mini yellow table by the window.
I am using a quilt made of old sorority t-shirts as a chair cushion. The quilt is very similar to the one we gave my friend Leah at her bachelorette party.
Another fun DIY project in my home office is the framed fabric by the bookcase, which I plan to used as a dry erase board with a list of my daily to-dos.
One guess where I got that idea. Yup, Pinterest. That site is a goldmine, I’m telling you.
The fabric in the frame is actually leftover damask fabric from our wedding escort boards.
Again, it’s definitely not the home office of a design professional by any means, but I know I love seeing the homes of other bloggers and figured you guys might enjoy a sneak peak into my workspace.
The next big project is finishing off our living room!
Question of the Afternoon

Jackie @ That Deep Breath says
The office is adorable!! I love the yellow, and the decorations are perfect!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
very cute! My desktop background is a picture I took sitting in a hammock next to lake michigan, you can see the lake, the beach, part of the hammock and my crossed feet wearing coral-colored Toms! Lol intense description, but I LOVE the picture! It reminds me to relax!

Last summer my mother and I went on an expedition cruise to the Arctic, and one day on the ship we passed an iceberg with three polar bears – a mama and two cubs. A friend on the ship captured an amazing photo of the bears all looking at us with the ice as a backdrop and I’ve been using it as my desktop background since I got back from the trip!
Tara @ Chip Chip Hooray says
Your office looks beautiful! And there are definitely a lot of pieces in there that I would pin on Pinterest. 🙂
My desktop background is (“awwwwww”) a photo of my boyfriend and I snapped right after we’d officially graduated (everyone else was busy tossing their caps in the air at this point, but I’m a crazy weirdo and didn’t want to lose “my” hat). We’re both grinning like mad, and my roommate took it with her DSLR so the colors are fantastic. 🙂
Amanda @ xo, says
I love that cabinet with the baskets, what a great, efficient organizing system. I may have to steal that for my bedroom for sweaters, scarves, etc.

i think your office space is really beautiful. i really like the look of clean modern spaces but i don’t think they ever feel comfortable. yours is really the perfect combination of clean and comforting with all the personal touches.
Bianca @A Healthy Gourmet Lifestyle says
I love the PB Fingers framed poster. If you were to sell those, how much would you ask for them? I will gladly pay for a poster like that. My desktop background is of my dog too. She’s a 12 year old American Eskimo Spitz that thinks she is a puppy.
peanutbutterfingers says
i actually bought them from a seller on etsy.com! here’s a link to her store: http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheLobsterPot

Your office is sooooo cute! I have a small cart like your yellow one I am currently using for other things, but I love the idea of painting it cause this thing has seen better days and would make for a great accent piece! Where is that rug from?

Ari @ Ari's Menu says
Your office looks great–it makes me want to do mine up! I always end up at Starbucks to do my work, but I feel like I would be so much more productive at home if I liked my work space. Something to think about 🙂

Love the whiteboard idea, SO cute! I love the yellow, also, very bright and cheery! If it were my place, I’d have to have a small couch to nap on 🙂 Great job decorating!

My desktop at home is a picture of my dad and I on his wedding day. I stood up for him, and my stepbrother stood up for his mom, and it was a small family affair. One of my favorite pictures of my me and my dad:)
At work we have 5 different consoles that we rotate around (I’m a 911 Operator/Dispatcher), so I get to set up a different picture at each console, and it’s usually of my nieces and nephews…I change up the pictures every few months — too many cute one’s to chose from;) lol
Rita says
Your office looks super cute! The color of your desk chair seems to stick out in the room though (although it could just be the picture)…would you consider painting it yellow?
I saw that whiteboard idea on pinterest too -definitely a bright idea 🙂
Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy says
I love the yellow accents…yellow always make me feel happier :). My desktop background is a picture of yellow tulips.
Kristen W says
Love the room! It looks so functional and yellow is one of my favorite colors. One suggestion… I think you should spray paint your chair yellow. Maybe I’m saying that because I love yellow and spray paint a little too much myself, and maybe I am jealous that you have a home office and I’m still stuck on my couch, hah! Love the board idea from Pintrest! Will definitely be making one for myself, thanks for the idea 🙂
Nicole says
What a beautiful space!!! I could be very happy there!
Pinterest is a fantastic website!! I love it.
Stephanie says
So bright and cheerful! I love the yellow and gray combo. My background is a sea turtle. I call him Howard.
Julie says
Love your office! The only thing i would suggest is an exercise ball chair (i have a Gaiam one that i love). They’re fun to sit on & they keep your body working, without you even knowing it! (You could use a regular exercise ball, but they’re often too low for working at a standard height desk.)
Jessica @ Bake a Little says
I love your office. It is so well decorated! I think the yellow framed pattern is such a fun neat trick!
Laura @ Unchartered 20s says

Hey, love your site and your new office! 2 questions, where did you get the little table in the window and who made your sorority shirt blanket…I have so many college shirts at home and my mom keeps telling me to do something with them! Thanks so much.
natalie @ southern fit foodie says
Love the office! My background is a picture of Devil’s Bay that I took while on vacation in Virgin Gorda, BVI. It makes me want to go back every time I see it! Gorgeous!
