Hello and happy, happy Friday!
I am so excited to sleep in tomorrow. It was another super early morning for me since I was scheduled to work the early shift, but now it’s just after 11 a.m. and I am d-o-n-e!
Work went by fast. I conducted a handful of fitness assessments for potential personal training clients. Once my shift was over, I changed and headed back into the gym for my own workout.
Workout
Today’s workout began with a five minute warm up run on the treadmill before I hopped off and completed the following circuit:
As noted on the image above, I completed 10 rounds of the circuit, but took a break halfway through to run on the treadmill for another five minutes. I wanted to split up the circuit a bit but completed the full 10 rounds by the end of my workout. It was a sweaty one!
Breakfast
Backing up a bit, I ate breakfast about an hour into my shift.
Overnight oats again! The above picture was snapped last night when I prepped the oats before the chia seeds had a chance to thicken everything up and work their magic.
Now it’s time to head out to run some errands. We have a fun beach weekend planned with friends to celebrate my friend Laurel’s birthday and I need to pick up some stuff for the festivities!
Enjoy your Friday!

I love these kind of simple circuit workouts, since they always pass by so fast.
Glad you’ll have tomorrow morning to finally sleep in! It’s always nice after working such early hours.
Sounds like your weekend will be jam packed with fun. I still haven’t been to the beach this Summer!
workouts that pass quickly are my favorite. when i start to get bored in the gym, i just want to leave, so i need something stimulating!
Do you use any type of pre-work out? Some days I think I could really benefit from something like that. Just wondering if you knew of any body friendly ones haha. I know some guys I know use some that are basically nuclear waste. Ha!
I don’t blame you for being excited to sleep in! I’m usually a morning person, but I balance it out by taking naps. I’ve never heard you mention napping before, do you not? I think I’d pass out if I didn’t!
Great workout as well :). I’ll give it a try today at the gym!
This workout looks awesome! I definitely will have to try it this weekend. Looks like the burpees will be a killer:)
I love sleeping in! Love the circuit workout! I like that it’s simple, but still sounds super challenging. Your overnight oats are awesome! I eat them a lot! 🙂
I’m planning on making the Overnight Oats Sunday! Stoked. 🙂
Have a great time this weekend!
That’s one good thing about starting early – finishing early! Enjoy your weekend 🙂
i like the looks of this circuit workout-gonna try it this afternoon!
Hope you love it!
I can’t wiat to try this workout on vacation next week! Printing now!!!
Have fun on your vacation!
I’m jealous of the fact that by 11am you’re DONE working 🙂 I would love to be on such an early schedule, but I’m sure waking up super early wares on you one way or another! Have fun at the beach this weekend!!
Great workout! I really need to jump on this over night oats train! I eat oatmeal all the time and they look so easy and healthy!
Nice workout! I find that most of my circuits are similar, but I tend to improvise a lot as I go a long. I may use your version as a good weekend workout!
I was looking for a circuit to do this morning and I did about 7 rounds of the circuit this morning after a morning bike ride. I was sweatin’ up a storm! Thanks, Julie!
Hope you have a great weekend!
About the circuit – when you say leg lifts, do you mean the abdominal exercise or the glute exercise?
abdominal 😀
Love this circuit workout! I need to learn how to do a plank jack! Maybe I’ll try it out today at the gym. Happy Friday!
I’m going to give that workout a go today! Looks great.
Have a great weekend.
I took an insanity class Friday and it was 24 exercises 50 seconds each with a 10 second break inbetween. It was killer but it went by so quick because we just kept switching things up. I can’t wait until I can teach a class like that one day!
I love this circuit workout because it looks like it’d fly by, but still give me a great workout (um, hello burpees). Happy friday!
Julie, thank you SO MUCH for the shout out!!! What a special treat for my Friday!
Enjoy sleeping in, and have fun this weekend!
Looks like a fun workout! Your blog is super inspirational and after reading health and fitness blogs silently for a while now, I’ve finally gotten up the courage to start my own. Thanks for being so real and relate-able. 🙂

Julie, I really have to thank you! In this last year, your blog has opened up my eyes to circuit workouts and strength training — now I love them as a part of my routine. 🙂 I wish we could workout together one day!
so glad to hear it! 🙂 thanks for the sweet comment, joelle!
thanks for the compression socks deal – i’ve been wanting to get a pair!
That circuit workout looks great, specially because it doesn’t have any super complicated moves. Also, overnight oats are great for the summer heat!
Have to check out the kale chopped salad link! Love the workout idea, have you tried the Bodyrock 1000 rep workout yet?
No, I still need to do that!
Are the leg lifts abs?
yep – leg lift crunches: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbRKhE7X2mA
Does your version of burpees include a push-up? If so then that workout would be a chest killer!
nope 🙂
Oh gosh– I did this workout the day that you published it, and assumed it was with push-up– I died!! haha..
That workout looks like a good one! I can see why you’re ready to sleep in tomorrow, although getting done with work before 11 a.m. is pretty awesome.
That looks like a FAB circuit workout!! Love it.
Enjoy your weekend!
I’m so ready to sleep in, too… and thanks for another great workout! We’re in transition in our move and at my parents house- no gym membership for a few weeks and it will be fun to see how creative I can be. 🙂
I’ll have to add this workout to my collection. I get bored with my workouts to so this will be a great one to spice things up when I need it! Have a great Friday!
Glad to hear you get to sleep in tomorrow! Your overnight oats always look so yummy, I keep meaning to try them, I really need to bookmark your recipe and get to it!
I like your circuits but I find the font that you choose to be a little difficult to read sometimes!
thanks for the feedback, ali! i’ll definitely keep that in mind.
Heyy!! Do u lift?? you should make a routine of weight lifting!!
I’d love to see some weight lifting routines too…or a sampling of something you might do with a more advanced client.
Love your circuit workouts so anything you’d put together I’m sure would be amazing. And Woot Woot to getting done at 11 on a Friday!
Julie, your workouts are wonderful! I’m a big runner, so I’m good at slow, long cardio, but the intervals in your workout are a great way to mix things up! My friend and I went through the “At Home Workout” today and loved it! (hardest part of it was those 60 second high knees!)
Thanks for the great work outs!
yayyy! so glad you liked it, sara!
Can’t wait to try this circuit 🙂
OHHH I am going to do that circuit tomorrow!! I hope you don’t mind that I might put it on my blog tomorrow (giving you credit, duh!!) Sounds tough!
Thanks for the compression sock promo code!!
Thanks so much for sharing the summer circuit workout!!
Thanks, Julie! I was actually searching around for something like this. My hubs and I like to split up our bike rides with some bodyweight exercises, and this would looks like one that I would enjoy!
Love this quick workout, these are always my favorite! Thanks for sharing, hope you have a fun filled weekend 🙂 Love + shine CourtStar
Right now it’s over 25 degrees in Ireland and I go to the gym reguarly and might I ad it’s tough trying to squeeze in a workout in the exhausing climate, not to mention if your gym doesn’t have air conditioning…then ya got a problem 🙂
That circuit looks awesome and killer!! 10 rounds?! Note to self: bring a pencil so you don’t lose count. 😉
Thanks for sharing, Julie! I love your circuit workouts…quick and effective. Hope you were able to sleep in this morning!
Looks like a HOT workout for sure!!!!
Did your burpees include a push up? Just curious!! Love this workout, it’s going on my schedule for next week! Ohh and I love that you are a Florida girl, man it has been humid lately!
no push up!
Whew, this was sweaty one!!!! Loved it though! Thx for sharing!
I LOVE the workouts you post — circuit workouts are my all time favorite ever! Love your blog in general!
I’ll have to try that circuit soon. I’m doing Tina’ Best Body Boot camp right now but maybe I can still fit it in!
no push up!
