I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it 5,000 times more… I love BodyPump!
It felt so good to be back in the gym taking my all-time favorite group exercise class after more than two weeks away. I must admit I was a little nervous about how the class would go and whether or not I’d be able to handle the load of my typical weights.
Good news! I powered through and left the class feeling strong, but with very fatigued muscles. I have a feeling I’ll be sore tomorrow.
After the gym, Ryan and I came home and took Sadie on a one-mile walk before breakfast.
Breakfast
Last night I prepped a bowl of uber chocolaty overnight oats as I was packing my lunch. About 20 minutes before bed, I opened the fridge for a glass of water when my bowl of overnight oats stared back at me.
“Eat me,” it beckoned. “I’m soooo chocolaty and delicious!”
Not one to ignore the coaxing of breakfast foods, I ate it up. Having just demolished my breakfast before bed, I obviously had to remake my oats last night.
Today’s breakfast was uber chocolaty overnight oats: round two!
It was just as good as round one and I was glad I took the time to remake it after scarfing down the original bowl.
I topped my overnight oats with frozen banana slices and enjoyed them along with a small bowl of raw cashews that I ended up dumping into the bowl of overnight oats as well.
Raw cashews are good. And I am a tool.
This meal felt extra special because I ate it with the nifty spoon I nabbed as a free gift from Bucherer in Switzerland.
Remember???
Aw, now I wanna go back. Switzerland was seriously unreal. I miss the mountains!
Unfortunately instead of hiking up Mount Pilatus today, I’ll be heading off to work, which is almost as fun.
I’ll be back for lunch!
I made overnight chocolate oats for breakfast too! I feel like I’m eating dessert for breakfast and there’s certainly nothin’ wrong with that 🙂
Beautiful spoon – and a beautiful family, of course 🙂
Ah I need to try BodyPump – we just got it at my gym!!
Enjoy your day, Julie!
I had some AMAZING chocolate oats today for breakfast too! 🙂 YUM!
I usually sneak a few bites of breakfast if I make it the night before — same with my lunches! Poor Jason used to go to work with a sandwich with a bite taken out of it 🙂
Mmm..overnight chocolate oats sound heavenly! I don’t blame you for eating them last night as well. They sound yummy! 🙂 Love the free spoon!
Cashews are the BEST! So creamy…
Your breakfast sounds delicious! I am a huge fan of cashews–I always pick them out of a mixed nut bowl. 🙂
Chocolate for bfast… love it.
Cashews are my favorite!
And I always have that problem when I’m preparing meals for the next day right before I go to bed. I always want to eat it all up! This sounds gross, but I wear a retainer to bed (so glam), so I only prepare food after I’ve put it in! That nixes all snacking 🙂
I felt the same about BodyPump after I’d been on holiday. I was impressed at how much strength I’d retained despite doing minimal exercise for two weeks.
I love unique little spoons!! I collect them unofficially haha.
Annnnd I have definitely been guilty of eating something I made for the next day, the night before. Oops 🙂
I feel food always tastes 100x better if I eat it with a special little spoon, bowl, etc.
God I love overnight oats lol…I feel the same way after I make mine the night before, but I have to say I never gave into the oats before the next morning… you’re so funny! I showed my mom the Globus tour you took and she has been e-mailing me non stop about it…I think I put the bug in her butt and she wants to go ASAP!
This breakfast looks heavenly tasty!
I always wind up dumping my ‘side dish’ into the main one, too! I also have heard anyone refer to themselves as a ‘tool’ in a while.. thanks for giving me a good laugh! 🙂
If I had a chocolaty bowl of heaven chilling in my fridge, I would’ve eaten it too 🙂 Sometimes in the morning I pack my lunch for school, and then decide to just eat it right then right there 😛
Oooh that sounds so so good! Good call on the cashews too!
I have sooo eaten my “overnight oats” before bed many times. And I only just started making them last week. hehe. How do you get those oats to be so thick and chocolaty??? yum!
it’s all about hershey’s special dark cocoa powder for the chocolaty flavor and chia seeds for thickness!
Those oats look super yummy! Work is almost as fun as vacation, but not quite!
Ha! I did the same thing last night with my intended breakfast for this morning! It was callin’ to me!
Haha whenever I prep overnight oats, I end up eating about half of them while making them. So irresistible, especially with chocolate thrown in!!
I can’t imagine coming back to “real” life after such a fabulous trip…I would wish to be back immediately too!
SAME WITH ME!!! I think “early retirement” would be on my mind… now to find a way to make that *actually* happen…
I LOVE CASHEWS!! amazeballls.. and overnight oats are funky- i prefer them HOT HOT HOT! (like me 😉
Hey Julie! So this is a random idea unrelated to the content of this post, but I was wondering if you would consider writing a “Weight Training for Dummies” post sometime? I’m completely new to weight training and honestly all of the machines and weights, surrounded by burly men, intimidate me! The foreignness of it makes me want to run off to the cardio section and stay in my comfort zone. I’d be interesting in learning the foundations of weight training and even the basic machines/moves that are good for beginners. Just an idea! Thanks!
I second this! Would be so helpful!
I agree also! I am so lost in the weight room 🙁
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…you are SUCH an inspiration to eat normal! You listen to what you really want and then you eat it….and you still have a super cute and bangalangin body. I know that’s not the point of your blog, but know that you really help!
Hahaha – I love that you ate your breakfast before bed! If it’s good, then why wait?! 🙂
Raw cashews are dangerously addictive! I think you can add just about anything to oatmeal & it will be amazing 🙂
Whenever I prepare overnight oats, it is so hard to resist and not eat them the night before, so I totaly understand that you’ve eaten in before bed :))
that is so funny… i don’t know why the concept of eating my overnight oats before bed has never crossed my mind?!??! ah, well, you have planted the seed! they might not last til morning anymore…
Leaving it alone is the hardest part about making overnight oats! Especially when it has some choco going on!
That’s hilarious that you ate your oats last night and had to remake them lol… The chocolately oats look yummy though, can’t say I wouldn’t have done the same!
Correction: raw cashews are GREAT. 😉
Definitely guilty of having “ate it and remade it” before – sometimes with my packed lunch ..oops 🙂
Looks delicious!!! 🙂 And I love that orange dress!
That spoon is such a cute momento that you’ll actually get to use!
I can’t even tell you how many times have dug into my breakfast or lunch the day before.
Julie, I am just looking through all your Europe pictures/posts, and am feeling so nostalgic! Your pictures are stunning and bring back such fond memories of my trips! You certainly did a lot of walking! I was looking at some pictures before meeting a friend, and we both marveled at your self-control with the amazing food! I would be a bottomless pit! lol. You definitely will have the most toned legs/calves- you look amazing! Thank you again for sharing your travels!
Barbara
Oh yum chocolate oats! I already ate breakfast so maybe I”ll eat those for dinner tonight?! They just seem to be calling my name right now!
Do you heat up your oats or eat them cold?? I cant do the whole cold thing!
all cold, baby!
Haha, I have done THAT before!! I’ll make overnight oats, sit them in the fridge and then a little bit later, they’ll look so delicious I end up eating the whole bowl!
Yuuum! I loove overnight oats!! Especially if they are chocolate! 😀
haha! That cracks me up! never tried the chocolate version, looks delicious!
Yum – I had chocolatey oats this morning too! They were so good!
Looks good! 🙂
That is too funny that you ate them the night you made them! Looks like it was definitely worth repeating.
Love the title–totally thought you remade macarons or some other delicious treat from your trip! 🙂
I also had overnight oats for brek! I didn’t have chocolate ones though, damn!
For some reason, i LOVE overnight oats, but eating chocolate overnight oats for breakfast always disagrees with my stomach.
LOVE BodyPUMP too!!
and that is hilarious that you ate the bowl….I prob would have said nahhhh, b/c I am lazy in the kitchen. haha 😉
That oatmeal looking delicious!! Umm, how could you not eaten it upon opening the fridge? 😉
