I arrived home from work today to find a package full of deliciousness waiting for me.
Love Grown Foods, a company founded by an adorable Colorado couple, sent me several samples of their all-natural granolas. As some of you may know, I have “issues” with cereal and granola… my “issues” being that once I start eating either cereal or granola, I can’t seem to stop.
I selected the cocoa goodness flavor to try first. Oh gosh. It was fantastic. I then moved onto the raisin almond crunch. Another winner. And then the sweet cranberry pecan. The best!
I immediately poured myself a small bowl to enjoy on the spot.
Like all super-nerdy bloggers, I immediately turned to Twitter to shout out to Gabriela about the granola, since I saw that she enjoyed some of the original flavor this morning.
Before I knew it, this happened:
A Love Grown Foods granola lovefest between me, Gabriela, Allie, Katie and Clare! It really is that good.
I love how it’s sweetened with agave and honey and chock full of toasted nuts. The sweet cranberry pecan flavor was literally bursting with pecans (my all-time favorite nut).
I ate the bowl intending for it to be some pre-race fuel for this evening’s corporate 5k… until I remembered something super important that I had to do tonight for a special event tomorrow night. A couple of my girlfriends and I are throwing a party for another one of our friends (she knows, it’s not a surprise) and I had a few things to attend to this evening that took precedence over the 5k. Friends and family before fitness!
Dinner
After checking some things off my personal to-do list, Ryan and I sat down to a quick dinner of pulled pork sandwiches with carrots and sugar snap peas on the side.
Guess what I had for dessert?
Yup, granola. I’m addicted.
I told Ryan that I’m slowing turning into an oat cluster!
Okay, things are getting weird around here. First I turn myself into an oat cluster and then I send my mom a link to a pair of grandma shoes TOMS as a birthday idea for me…
I’m in the same camp as SkinnyRunner and think that these shoes, as she says, are seriously (seriously) fug, and yet she bought a pair today and I just hinted at a pair of the red stone-washed TOMS for my birthday. Apparently we caved into the company’s fantastic mission and the promised comfort you guys say that these shoes offer.
Just don’t call me Nana Julie just yet.
G’night everyone! I have to go drink a glass of warm milk and rinse my dentures.
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
Hahaha….guess what’s on the table beside me. I had to wait to digest a bit after eating half the bag, but now I’m in for round two. Yay oat clusters!
peanutbutterfingers says
we have issues. send help, please.
Meg says
I can solve your issues, just hand over the clusters…I’ll take care of the rest 😉
carlee says

J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says

Love pulled pork! I made pulled pork nachos the other night: http://www.j3nn.net/2011/04/13/nom-nom-chos/
So good!!
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
I love Love Grown. I destroyed the three bags in less than a week.
peanutbutterfingers says
i’m giving them three days… okay maybe two. and ryan hasn’t even had a bite yet.
Shanna says
I got that same granola pack last week and have been munching on the almond raisin all week. So good.
And yes Toms are fug.
peanutbutterfingers says

katie says
Love this! We are oat cluster babes! ha! I am mixing mine with coconut bliss !! Yummy!
Ok the TOMS rock, you will LOVE them, I have the pink sparkle ones and they are super comfy and like you said, its a great thing, buy a pair, a pair goes to a kid in need! I think its a great feeling when I wear them and know a pair of shoes went to a child in need ; )
Have a great night love!!
Kelly says
I haven’t ever worn TOMS but they sell them everywhere around here! Maybe those will be good Europe traveling shoes!!
Granola + Kelly = BIG BIG BIG TROUBLE!

Clare @ Fitting It All In says
About to pop open the cranberry flavor. Can’t WAIT!!
And I think I’m going to get some gold sequin TOMS. Compromise between fugly and stylish?
Holly says
I met the owners of Love Grown at my local grocery store as they were passing out samples. YUM!
And, don’t tell SR, but I prefer your red TOMS to her black ones. I’m sure the comfort surpasses the “fug” factor 😉
cori says
Haha I just finished a bag of the cranberry for dinner! And pasta. Weird combo, but so good. I haven’t seen the cocoa anywhere yet, and I live in Colorado! Man..
Joanna says
I actually recently purchased a pair of Toms shoes! They’re really comfortable and actually not that fug haha although me and my friend call it “village shoes.”
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Everyone has been getting their Love Grown and raving about it! I think I am going to have to try some soon!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
Oh don’t make fun of those shoes — they look so comfortable and I want a pair!!
Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles says
Haha, I think it’s hilarious that you think they’re fug! I love mine – wore them today actually! 🙂
LGF sent me their granola a few weeks ago – so so good! I loved the Cocoa Goodness because of the chocolate chips, but I really enjoyed the slight tartness of the Sweet Cranberry Pecan. Enjoy!
Katy @ A Healthy Shot says
Haha I don’t know…. I just can’t get into the Toms. I’m seriously longing for a pair or Sperrys though, and I used to think they were grandma shoes, so who knows.
The oat cluster picture is hilarious. 🙂
Jamie aka "Sometimes Healthy Girl" says
WOwww that granola loooks amazing! PS you’re not a gramma, I love the shoes!
Chaaron says
Oh no! TOMS aren’t fug! I love them! They have darling (and so comfortable) wedges and the originals in glitter are fantastic (Fitnessista sports the black glitter). I have two pairs of wedges and a pair of red originals. Most comfy shoes ever. Only, please don’t call me Nana Chaaron.
Kristy@RunTheLongRoad says
I think TOMS are cute! Maybe they can be your walking-around-Europe shoes!
peanutbutterfingers says
That’s the plan!
natalie says
I traveled all over South America in a pair of TOMS. They are perfect traveling shoes.
Laurel says
Toms rock! I love mine and wear them everywhere. Benny calls them my hospital shoes.
peanutbutterfingers says
Haha I told Ryan I felt like they were nursing home shoes. I think Benny and I are on the same page!
Laurel says
They are really comfortable. Make sure you get your exact size.
Melinda says
Toms are sooooo comfortable! i spent all weekend in them walking all around dowtown austin for the sxsw festival and my feet didnt hurt once! they do stretch out a bit and form to your feet after youve worn them awhile. the looks did take some getting used to on my part (i originally thought they were the fugliest thing ever!) but the comfort totally outweighed the look! have fun in europe!
Danica says
I don’t know if this is obvious or not but since I haven’t seen them before, are Love Grown Foods’ products available at many grocery stores?
peanutbutterfingers says
here’s a list of their locations! http://www.lovegrownfoods.com/locations/
Danica says
Thanks for the link! None in my area unfortunately 🙁
skinnyrunner says
i am so glad someone else thinks they’re fugly too… and now im the proud fugly owner of a pair. hmmm.
Alexa @ SimpleEats says
I need to get my hands on these granolas! I want them! I can’t agree with you more, Tom’s are FUGLY…but I bet they’re amazingly comfy…I might cave, too!
Meg says
Nooo TOMS, get some Sperry’s instead! Way cuter!
Allie (Live Laugh Eat) says
Can’t stop!!! I swear I had 2 small handfuls and 3/4ths of the bag disappeared…so I had another and another :).
I’m pretty sure my stomach is lined with granola at this point! It’s just oatmeal sans milk/water right? Right.
Laura @ Meet Virginia says
I promise you, you are going to love your TOMS! They are by far the most comfortable shoes I own! I don’t think they are as fug as everyone else seems to, but maybe that’s just because I am in college and lots of people wear them. I think you will be a believer once you try them on. 😉
Amanda says
I just got a pair of toms for my birthday. They are way cute with capris and it’s nice having a casual slip that covers my toes. Buy them a half size smaller than you think though because they stretch.
Chantelle says
LOVE your blog, Julie! This post made me wonder, though, if I’ve been spelling dentures wrong all my life…? 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
No, I’m just an idiot and was blogging while talking to Ryan!
Chantelle says
We all have our moments, right? 🙂 Mine seems to come around whenever I try to type wierd…weird… I’ve looked it up a billion times and still have no idea what’s right!
Meg says
TOMS are NOT gramma shoes, they are ADORABLE! I’m getting the sparkly ones 😉
You’re the most beautiful granola cluster I’ve ever seen, Julie! Be careful…I hear Sadie likes granola too…
Jamie says
Just found your blog…and can’t wait to try the granola!! I’m with you, once I start eating cereal or granola – good luck stopping!!! Ha!
Jamie
Kristina says
The Tom’s shoes are AWESOME! They are cute in an ugly, weird sort of way, but with a pair of tights, a cute long top and a cardigan (and possibly a scarf, depending on the weather) it is the cutest outfit! Super comfy, and an amazing cause.
Also, now that I’ve looked at all that granola I’m off to make a batch!
Heather says
I LOVE TOMS! I wore them in our wedding, as well as my hubby and the bridal party. it was so great! Their wedges are amazing and the mission makes it all the more worth buying!
natalie says
I promise you will learn to think they are cute! You just can not help it because TOMS are so amazing!

Not to be a debbie downer but… Toms shoes’ cause might not be THAT great:
http://blogs.mcgill.ca/humanrightsfellows/2011/04/01/fellow-rosebell-kagumire-offers-a-comment-for-a-day-without-dignity/
BUT! If you want the shoes just because you like them and they’re comfortable, go for it! 🙂

I love TOMS. I have 3 pair. They’re a lot easier to style than you would think. I never really thought of them as a grandma shoe but now that you mention it, my grandma did buy a pair after I showed her mine. Hmm.. hahah
Kalyn says
Hahaha-the last line of this has me dying laughing (:
Sarah Elizabeth says
Oh my gosh, I’m the same exact way with granola. In fact, those pictures you posted made me HAVE to eat some right now. And I am. Bare Naked Maple Pecan is SO good; you should try it if you haven’t yet… 😉
