While I’ve managed to get work done, I feel like the day is flying by, but not in an energetic “Where did the time go!?” kind of way. It has been more of an “I’m floating through life and can’t snap out of it” kind of day for this girl.
Lunch
Lately I’ve spent some extra time in the kitchen on Sundays prepping food for the week to make assembling lunch and dinner a breeze.
Yesterday I cooked up a big batch of quinoa, chopped vegetables and tossed some chicken breasts in the crock pot. Today all that prep work came in handy when I assembled a super-fast warm quinoa bowl for lunch.
In my bowl:
- Quinoa
- Chicken
- Mushrooms
- Broccoli
- Cashews
- Avocado
It filled me right up!
About an hour later, I remembered that there was something pretty darn fantastic tucked away in our freezer.
When I blogged about my love for Oreo Birthday Blast ice cream a few weeks ago, Kate encouraged me to try another new flavor: Publix Premium Pretzel Sensation.
Since then, this ice cream has been on my radar and when I saw it on sale for $3.50 at the grocery store yesterday, I put it in our cart.
My goodness, this stuff is incredible. If you love peanut butter and chocolate and live near Publix, this ice cream will knock your socks off.
Check out the thick ribbon of peanut butter:
The little bowl was delicious enough to bring me out of my daze.
Ice cream is always the answer.
Question of the Afternoon
- What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
My answer: Oreo Birthday Blast! It’s a new flavor for me, but it was love at first bite. Chocolate marshmallow comes in a close second.
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Oh the choices! I’d have to say cookie dough or Oreo. I don’t eat a whole lot of ice cream, but when I do, that’s what I like!
Jenica says
Trying to choose between ice cream flavors is an impossible and cruel task…I love vanilla heath bar crunch; coffee and oreos; half baked; brownie batter; the list is endless. There’s also an ice cream place near me that sells plain sweet cream ice cream, which I’d never had before. I think it’s only because this ice cream is so fantastic, but I’m becoming obsessed with this non-flavor too.
Alex @ Brain, Body, Because says
Vanilla heath bar crunch?! omg!
Jenica says
Yes! It’s not as common as coffee Heath bar crunch by I’ve been able to find it occasionally!
Norma says
Bluebell Nutty Chocolate can get me in a good mood every time…. Love it…..
Yellow Haired Girl says
Yum!! Choosing my favorite ice cream flavor is tough. Can I say chocolate and then express my love for multiple toppings? 😉 it’s always changin’ that way!
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
of course. i naturally assume everyone prefers their ice cream topped with whipped cream at the very least.
Tara @ Chip Chip Hooray says
Oh man. I looooove Moose Tracks. And Cookies ‘n’ Cream. And S’mores. And basically anything with LOTS of mix-ins folded in!!
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
YES! moose tracks. yes, yes, yes.
Sana says
I am on the froyo train, ice cream leaves a weird after taste in my mouth.
Which is super sad since it tastes so good!
joelle @ on a pink typewriter says
YUM.. I love Ben and Jerry’s Half Baked. 🙂
Suzanne @ Fit Minded Mom says
I love me some good ol’ mint chocolate chip. Other than that, any Ben & Jerry’s ice cream will do me just fine!!
Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
I don’t remember what brand it is, but I’ve had ice cream before that looks just like that one and it is to die for!
Once upon a time (i.e.: two months ago), I won an ice cream flavor creation contest, so I’d have to say that’s my favorite flavor because, you know, I created it. Haha. Mint ice cream with dark and white chocolate chunks and bits of shortbread cookie. I called it Scotland Yard (green = grass, dark and white chocolate = black and white sheep, shortbread = everywhere in Scotland). My brief claim to fame 🙂
Katie says
That ice cream looks DELISH! Chocolate PB is probably my favorite to pick up at the grocery store–I just love the frozen PB ribbon floating through chocolatey deliciousness.
Sometimes I really like to try different flavors. You’ve gotta take a look at the website for my FAVORITE ice cream shop EVER. And if you ever swing through Delaware you have to try the banana caramel! Booger is actually really good too LOL.

Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
Um oreo birthday blast sounds amazing!!
Emily says
I love anything strawberry!! And sprinkles… lots of sprinkles.
Pia says
My new favorite ice cream is called Its my party from Wegmans. It is amazing, its like Birthday cake remix from cold stone but better.
Mallory says
I wish I had the ability to have a bowl of ice cream mid-day and not be tempted to continue the ice cream fest throughout the evening. I know you once mentioned on your blog that ice cream is a food you can’t really keep in the house because it’s something you really can’t resist… how have you been able to find a sense of “control” when it comes to foods like this? I would love to hear your thoughts on this cause it’s something I struggle with lately! I’m very much “all or nothing” with ice cream, cake, cookies, etc
Cara @ I Don't Believe in Diets says
That ice cream has my drooling. Good luck “waking up” today. 🙂
Julie @ Sweetly Balanced says
Oreo flavor is definitely up there!! I also love anything with caramel!!
Katie says
Have you ever tried making your own Ice Cream? I stumbled upon a recipe the other day where you take almond milk, mix in your flavors (e.g. PB2, sugar free pudding, cocoa etc) freeze it up and then voila! Kinda reminded me of just freezing up a smoothie and then letting it soften a bit.
Michelle says
I love coconut ice cream (there isn’t a whole lot of variety in Ireland when it comes to dairy free ice cream!) But Banana and Chocolate are two of the tops!!!
Christina @ The Beautiful Balance says
I love fruity ice creams, non-dairy of course. 🙂
Meg says
your lunch bowl looks delicious my dear! So does that ice cream 😉 I don’t know if I have a favourite ice cream flavour?? Something nutty 🙂 Nothing too sweet!
Becky @ TheBexFactor.com says
If I’m buying ice cream for home, I love vanilla bean. I know it’s boring.
But if I’m getting a cone it’s always tiger or cake batter. Or one shop here makes Nibs flavored and it’s the best.
Joyce Underwood says
Kroger Premium Black Raspberry Chocolate Chunk and/or Breyer’s Natural Cherry Vanilla. De-lish and double de-lish.
Laura says
Two of my food weaknesses are oreo and pistachio (not together). Another huge weakness of mine is dairy fat, so I love the topic of ice cream! Oreo is usually my go-to flavor; however, last week I picked up some Blue Bunny pistachio almond ice cream and oh my is that stuff is pretty darn delicious! I have a feeling more of that stuff will be finding its way to my freezer again in the future.
Krista @ Blonde Aesthetic says
I’ve been all about the red velvet ice cream flavor lately. So good!!
kaylie says
I love Moose Tracks, and have ever since I was a kid. Recently, when I was shopping for ice cream (a staple in my house;)), I found Peanutbutter Moose Tracks! One word- HEAVEN! 🙂 It is my new favorite!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
My favorite is Ben & Jerry’s Lite Phish Food! Weirdly I prefer the lite over regular… I guess regular is just too rich!
Ashley O. @ The Vegetable Life says
Lately I am loving anything that has that peanut butter ribbon in it… not sure if its my favorite but its what the baby has been craving lately! Gotta love those preggo hormones!
Lily @ Candied-Life says
kilwin’s makes a version of moose tracks called “kilwin’s tracks” that is amazing, other wise i nearly always choose cookies n cream with hot fudge on top! this birthday oreo flavor sounds awesome though, i really need to pick some up! i also loveeeeee fro yo with multiple toppings.
Sam @ The Real Pretty says
I am totally in a daze today as well! My brain keeps going and before I know it I’ve gotten so much work done but don’t remember doing much, haha.
As far as ice cream goes, I’d have to say either mint chocolate chip, Ben & Jerry’s Reeses or just plain ol’ vanilla (fro yo, preferably).
Liz @ Southern Charm says
Banana’s foster is my current favorite. There is a local famous ice cream shop that has the most unique flavors. This is one of them and I am absolutely in love 🙂
Beks says
Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Pretzel. What’s not to like? And that is one THICK ribbon of PB! Too bad I don’t have a Publix near me. 🙁
Rachel says
oo yum! I love anything mint lol so mint chocolate chip is good for me 🙂
Kaitlin @4loveofcarrots says
that ice cream sounds to die for! I am a mint chocolate chip (must be green though) and Phish Food, when I was younger I would prefer a carton of that to myself for my “birthday cake”
Annette@FitnessPerks says
Ahhh ICE cream. Always the cure 😉
Caramel + pralines or salted caramel is MY fav for sure. Butterscotch is pretty good too.
Sara @ Magia e Pasta says
I totally have a case of the “Mondaze”, too. Ice cream is definitely the best way to cure it. I’m partial to Caramel Caribou (like Moose Tracks, but with caramel cups instead of peanut butter) with caramel sauce on top. I really can’t get enough of the stuff!
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
I love Jeni’s Dark Chocolate ice cream or Baskin Robbins had this Oreo Truffle ice cream in July that was sooo good!
Erica says
I kind of hate you for suggesting such an ice cream exists to me!!
Amy says
oh my..that ice cream looks RIDIC!! i have to try it!! i usually love oreo anything…but pb is a weakness too..
Lauren @ Chocolate, Cheese and Wine says
Call me crazy but I have been OVER ice cream since I discovered frozen yogurt.
Julie says
My go to flavor is chocolate chip – yum!
Megan says
I am a frozen yogurt lover also…but back in the 90s Ben & Jerry’s had this Low Fat Chocolate Peppermint Patty flavor (don’t remember the exact name) and it had little bits of chocolate-covered peppermint patties in it. They discontinued it and I have mourned it ever since.
Now I make my own froyo using greek yogurt and coconut milk, with chocolate or fruit mixed in.
Melissa says
Ben & Jerry’s Oatmeal Cookie Chunk! My friend got me hooked and it’s DIVINE!
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
YESSSSSSSSSSS! that is one of mine, too. i can’t find it ANYWHERE around here.
Melissa says
If you go to Ben & Jerry’s website they have a flavor locator where you type in your zip and it tells you the nearest place that sells whatever flavor you’re looking for! I may or may not have used this in desperation… 🙂
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
Yum! Both the Oreo Birthday Blast and that Peanut Butter Pretzel one sound amazing! My top favorites are: chocolate chip cookie dough, cookies ‘n cream, and Reese’s PB Cup. I can never decide which is my top favorite!
Karen says
Friendly’s ice cream was on sale at the A&P over the weekend for $1.99 per gallon…I had to hold back from buying every flavor! (I got 3)
Katie says
Junior Mints icecream! Ooh and Graeters Coconut Chip. My mouth is watering thinking of them both. 🙂
Michelle Burroughs says
My favorite is Cake…well specifically Carrot Cake. Living with a bunch of bakers, also known as my roommates, I am surrounded with yummy baked goods. Ive had to learn to say no but I love a slice here and there!
Alex @ Healthy Life Happy Wife says
Moose tracks, rocky road or mint chocolate chip – but I’ll eat just about any kind! I love ice cream!! The one you ate looks delicious – love PB & chocolate together. Match made in heaven 🙂
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
Pretzels and ice cream?! Delicious! I love love love Ben and Jerry’s Phish food. Best ice cream ever. And moose tracks – i can’t forget about moose tracks. Great, now I want ice cream.
Jess @ JessieBear What Will You Wear says
Oh my lord, that peanut butter ice cream. Oh my. I’m not even sure I have words for that. I LOVE peanut butter ice cream. Plus chocolate and did you say pretzels?! *explodes*
Maria says
Isn’t there avocado in that lunch bowl! It looks delicious and I would like to recreate, that’s why I’m point it out! 😉
