I think my chest exploded in the gym today. One of Ryan’s past treadmill workouts loosely inspired me to complete what I’ll call an “increasing interval 0.2 workout.”
The breakdown:
Minutes | Incline | Speed |
0-5 | 8.0 | 4.0 |
5-10 | 1.0 | 6.5 |
10-14 | 8.0 | 4.0 |
14-15 | 1.0 | 4.0 |
15-16 | 1.0 | 8.0 |
16-17 | 1.0 | 4.5 |
17-18 | 1.0 | 8.2 |
18-19 | 1.0 | 4.5 |
19-20 | 1.0 | 8.4 |
20-21 | 1.0 | 4.5 |
21-22 | 1.0 | 8.6 |
22-23 | 1.0 | 4.5 |
23-24 | 1.0 | 8.8 |
24-25 | 1.0 | 4.5 |
25-26 | 1.0 | 9.0 |
26-27 | 1.0 | 4.0 |
27-28 | 1.0 | 9.2 |
28-29 | 1.0 | 4.0 |
29-30 | 1.0 | 9.4 |
30-31 | 1.0 | 4.0 |
31-32 | 1.0 | 9.6 |
32-33 | 1.0 | 4.0 |
33-34 | 1.0 | 9.8 |
34-35 | 1.0 | 4.0 |
35-36 | 1.0 | 10.0 |
36-40 | 1.0 | 4.0 |
From minutes 15 to 36, I alternated a minute of fast walking with a minute of running, increasing the running pace by 0.2 each time until I reached a 10.0 pace.
The stats:
The workout was no joke. I honestly haven’t kicked my own butt like this in the gym in quite a while. A good butt-kicking was needed to rejuvenate my workouts a bit and I felt like a bit of a baller when I hopped off the treadmill looking like a hot mess.
After my time on the treadmill, I still had a bit of time to kill before Ryan was done with his workout, so I completed 10 minutes of super-light cardio on the elliptical while reading SELF magazine.
Breakfast
After the gym, Sadie got her usual morning walk before it was breakfast time. Since my hair basically looked brunette from all the sweat from my morning workout, I knew my body could use a cool and refreshing breakfast. I looked to my beloved Vitamix to blend me up somethin’ nutrient-dense and COLD.
- 1 1/2 c. almond milk
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1 1/ tbsp. cocoa powder
- 1 c. frozen strawberries
- 1 tbsp. peanut butter
- 1 pinch xanthan gum (for thickening)
- 1 handful fresh spinach
A great combination!
CamelBak Giveaway
And now it’s time for a giveaway! I’m pretty darn excited about this giveaway because there will be seven winners. Yahoo!
About a month ago, I was contacted by CamelBak to see if I was interested in trying out their new Groove water bottle, a water bottle that filters water as you sip.
Ryan and I have a Brita water filter pitcher in our fridge, but it’s a big pain to fill it up and pour into water bottles (I’ve spilled a good 10,000 times), so I was very intrigued with the Groove since a built-in filter meant I could fill up my water bottle right from the sink.
One thing I didn’t realize when I first read about the Groove was that the bottle allows you to sip from it without tipping it up. The filter is almost like a straw, and not having to tip the water bottle back to drink made it fantastic for use during workouts, particularly my interval workouts on the treadmill.
Needless to say, the Groove has become my go-to water bottle for all of my workouts. Plus, the tip folds back and doesn’t leak, so it’s been great for carrying along with me for day-to-day use as well.
Let’s get you one of these babies, shall we?
CamelBak will be giving seven PBF readers their very own Groove! To enter this giveaway, simply comment on this post, telling me about your favorite way to enjoy water (with/without ice, sparkling, flavored, etc.).
For an extra entry in this giveaway, you may tweet some version of the following:

Water with lemon is my favorite.
Silly question, can that smoothie recipe be split into two servings? Will the second serving hold up if placed in the freezer? Your bowl looks yummy but appears to be more then I can handle in one sitting. I’m a little weird that way. I can’t even finish half an oatmeal serving. Three bites and I have to toss the rest. I’d hate to toss the excess smoothie. Certainly cutting the recipe in half would work too but if I could store the extra serving it’s one less time I have to blend.
Nicole says
SUPER cold with no ice and no added flava flaves.
marcia says
I love ice water….. whole ice or the crushed kind. I love to crunch on it!

I LOVE water with lots of ice, lemon, lime and orange slices in it – kind of like what my mom calls “spa water.” 🙂
Rachel I says
I like my water with a slice of lemon and not too cold because I have crazy sensitive teeth!
Mel (Mmm Stories) says
YES YES please!! I loooove my Camelbak water bottle – the straw means I’m downing water like it’s my JOB. Plus the filtered idea would be awesome! I love all water – sparkling, with a lemon or lime, in watermelon, etc 😉

Okay, I know this will sound a little insane but my favorite way to drink water is…to order a large water from Taco Bell with lots of ice. I think they have a magical water filter that’s powered by rainbows and angels or something. It’s the best water ever.
Although I’d looove to see how a Camelback filter compares. 😀
Ankeeta says
i like my water warm and in abundance

After I workout, water with ice is the real deal — I need it nice and cold! When I’m working out I like it to be room temp. And when I’m at a restaurant, I love water with a lemon slice!

I love how that water bottle doesn’t require you to tip your head back to drink it! I love having cold water with a wedge of lemon in it. Sometimes plain water just wont do!! 🙂
Samantha Shelton says
I tweeted!! I would LOVE one of those water bottles!
Julia says
I love water cold with no ice most of the time, but if I’m feeling crazy then I also like sparkling flavored waters.
Bobbi says
After a workout, I’m with Samantha above – very cold! When I am just drinking water throughout the day, I use half of an individual-sized Crystal Light or the like.
Lily says
I love the water from my parent’s house in Wisconsin. They have well water and it tastes absolutely amazing. Now that I live in Oakland and the tap water isn’t so fabulous, I will often slice some citrus fruit into it for some added flavor.
P.S. I also tweeted about this give away!!!
lyndsey says
while i LOVE water, i’m actually pretty picky about it … doesn’t matter HOW i drink it (ice, warm, cup, bottle, whatever) but it has to taste right or i don’t bother. perhaps a built-in filter will give me the taste i’m looking for? 😛
DayDay says
LOVE my Camelbak! I’ve got a purple 24-ouncer that goes with me everywhere, to the point where I feel naked when I forget it! I try and drink 3 bottles a day, usually just regular, filtered water, but sometimes I get crazy and squeeze a little lime in it : )
Shannon says
I prefer flavored sparkling water on occasion, but usually just drink cold water from the tap.
Vivian says
I like my water at room temp, with a packet of True Lemon (well, I would, if I could find it again at the store).
Lisa @ I'm an Okie says
Plan ole iced water!
Chelsea says
Oh gosh already 700+ comments?! I have a change, right?! hahaha 🙂 I like my water plain. Specially after a 5k run outside without water I can chug a whole bottle down in no timee hahaha 🙂
Becca says
I love to put a bottle of water in the freezer and let it sit for awhile. I take it out after 15 minutes or so and it has little ice chunks in it. That’s the best!
Tara @ Dashing in Pearls says
I like my water VERY cold but I prefer without ice (which is kind of contradictory).
