To be totally honest, I am rarely in the mood to put myself through an interval workout, but once I’m about two minutes into the workout, I’m hit with a sense of determination and motivation to kick some booty on the treadmill.
I changed up the routine I found in my wristlet a bit and ended up spending 30 minutes on the treadmill. In the end, my workout looked like this:
Check out the two minutes at 10.0 in there! Phew!
Truth be told, the second time I ran at 10.0 for a minute, my chest felt tight and I wanted to stop 40 seconds in. I hunkered down and plowed through the last 20 seconds and completed the workout with a sense of accomplishment and some odd looks from the woman next to me who was likely wondering why I was flailing about on the treadmill like a madwoman. (In case you’re feelin’ the interval workouts, click here to see another one of my favorites!)
After my time on the treadmill was done, I completed 20 minutes of easy cardio on the elliptical while reading blogs on my phone and flipping through Runner’s World magazine.
Walk + Breakfast
A good workout deserves a good breakfast, but first I had to attend to a crazy dog that needed her morning walk.
The weather this morning was significantly colder than it has been in Orlando and Sadie was shivering as we completed a one-mile loop near our apartment.
When we arrived home, I was in the mood for a HOT breakfast.
Check out my new take on an old favorite!
I topped a cinnamon raisin bagel thin with muenster cheese and veggie bacon and toasted it until the cheese melted.
I’m beginning to think I could add anything to a cinnamon raisin and cheese bagelwich and it would be fantastic. I wonder how peanut butter would taste in this bad boy? Probably kinda weird.
I think Sadie would love it…
Time to work. See ya around lunchtime!
Carrie says
i LOVE intervals!! i usually get my inspiration from YOURS! and yes 10 is SO freakin hard.. i can only do one minute.. so props for doing it twice!
Lindz @ Happy or Hungry says
Haha, Sadie’s tongue curl in that last pic made me laugh.
I am an interval fan as well, mainly because my treadmill workout goes by so much faster!
peanutbutterfingers says
exactly! they’re perfect for days when you want your workout to FLY by!
Emily says
That workout looks AWESOME, I am definitely going to try it. Do you happen to remember how many miles you covered?
peanutbutterfingers says
it was just under 3 miles.
Amy at TheSceneFromMe says
Oh no, you should try the peanut butter on your breakfast sandwich and see what it tastes like. You never know, you may surprise your taste buds and like it!
Sadie’s got a long tongue! Is she an honorary member of KISS?
kristy @ kristyruns says
Great job on the intervals! I need to try that veggie bacon!
Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete says
I love cinnamon raisin bagels — never seen the bagel thins though!
Great workout this morning! I am impressed with the level 10! Holy cow!
Maria@healthydiaries says
Have you ever tried the cinnamon raisin ekekiel bread? I did for my first time this morning topped with smart balalnce butter and sliced bananas. It was amazing, I’m sure you’d love it to! Let me know if you ever try it 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
sounds great! i’ve never tried ezekiel bread but i’ve heard wonderful things.
Maria@healthydiaries says
Sorry I meant ezekiel!
Robyn says
Cracking up right now…. I totally get the look from people next to me when they’re just walking along on the treadmill and I’m completely all over the place barely staying on plowing my way through a tough interval! Glad I’m not the only one who gets these looks! I’m going to try this interval on Thursday Morning- my next cardio day!
Eliz@The Sweet Life says
Intervals are really challenging aren’t they? I guess that’s why they are so good for you but gosh darn they hurt!!
Kelly says

I’ve been doing 10mph intervals recently too and they kick. My. Butt. Oh my gosh it can be almost painful, but it feels SO good at the end! Awesome workout!
Melanie says
I love intervals as well! Right now i can only do up to 6/6.5 though…10 sounds crazy!, but I’m hoping to work my way up =)
Maddie says
Quick question, I want to try this workout but wanted to check, are the speeds in mph? It definitely looks pretty hardcore!
Jamie says
I can’t find those bagel thins ANYWHERE! Virginia is slacking!
Holly says
I love intervals 🙂 Time just flies when I’m doing them…and I’m typically flying OFF the treadmill- LOL!
I was doing 10 mph sprints yesterday..or maybe Sunday, I forget- but I really thought I was going to fly off! Could you imagine?! That would be quite the interesting story 😀
Stephanie @ The Cookie Battle says
Haha Sadie cracks me up! Love that last picture of her and that tongue. Lol.
Heather (Heather's Dish) says
i need that bagelwich right now…who cares if i just ate pancakes?!
Amber K says
Pretty much all of my workouts are intervals. I just can’t stay motivated to go at a single pace for longer than a minute or two.
Amelia says
A toasted cinnamon raisin bagel with peanut butter and bananas is like my dream! I’m totally loving peanut butter and bananas right now especially when the pb is all melty and spread over vanilla yogurt with a sliced up ‘nana.
How does the veggie bacon stack up against the real thing? It just looks so fake but it’s gotta taste pretty good, right?
peanutbutterfingers says
it tastes FANTASTIC but the texture is different. it’s crispy, but it doesn’t have that greasy taste that regular bacon does.
Shanna, Like Banana says
Intervals kick my booty too. Especially if I have to do the tough parts while there is a commercial on tv and then I’m not even distracted. EEEP!
Trish says
You’re too funny – love the comments under Sadie’s photo. 🙂
Meg says
That’s an awesome workout! The two 10s definitely looked tough. I guess that’s the beauty of intervals, you see an end in sight and end up amazing yourself at what you can do!
I like the concept of the veggie bacon, but please tell me it tastes better than it looks?!
K is for Karma says
Way to be on your intervals, lady! I got into the swing of doing workouts like this for a while, but I’ve fallen off board 🙁 Thanks for the reminder! Do you eat anything before the gym? I think I would fall of the treadmill if I attempted a workout like that without some food in my system! haha.
steph says
Actually cheese and pb are quite delicious together! Try it
Lauren says
I love intervals, awesome job at speed 10! My favorite is fast 30 sec, slow 30 sec, with the speed increasing each time. Those kick my butt! I’ve never tried veggie bacon…what does it taste like?
peanutbutterfingers says
it tastes a lot like regular bacon to me! the texture is different (crispy, but not as greasy). i like it!
Parita@myinnershakti says
I love veggie bacon…tastes like the real thing. It’s hard to believe but true! It’s a great replacement in a BLT! 🙂
Allie @ Healthy Balance, Healthy Life says
Ohhhh noooo (so hard!) /Ohhh yesss (so good for me and quick!) you’ve inspired me to do another interval run tonight.
Lee says
I love your interval workouts! Can’t wait to try this one tonight! Keep them coming!
Sarah @ Will Run For Food says
Thank you for your interval workouts! I HATE HATE HATE the treadmill and these make time fly when I have to run inside (two+ feet of snow!). Thanks!!! Keep them coming!
Gen says
Love interval workouts!!!!!!!
The breakfast sandwich looks amazing!
Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles says
I really need to try an interval workout. I feel like it would be a great change from a normal run on the treadmill. Variety is a good thing!
Katy (The Singing Runner) says
Awesome workout!!! 🙂 I cant wait until I can run again (leg injury) so I can do something like this!
Katie says
I love Sadie’s tongue curl in that last pic. Great shot!
Jess@atasteofconfidence says
Wow- those 10s must have been intense!
Jessica says
I tried this veggie bacon a couple of weeks ago. OMG! So tasty!! I make two strips and chop it up finely and put in my salads like “bacon bits”. Adds texture and flavor to my sometimes lackluster salads! It is amazing with my cottage cheese dressing (mix 1/4 cup nonfat cottage cheese with 2 tbsp of fat free Italian dressing)!
Caree @ Fit-Mama says
Wow, I can imagine your heart wanted to pound out of your chest at 10!! That is fast for two minutes!!
Vanessa says
That girl has quite a tongue curl!
Hope says
I love eating cinnamon raisin bagel thins with PB & Co Cinnamon Raisin Swirl peanut butter. It’s so good!!
dana@mylittlecelebration says
Great workout. I’m pretty sure I would DIE doing a 10 mph pace. Kudos to you though. I can just imagine you on the treadmill giving it all you got. Very inspiring : )
Also, you have a cute dog. That is all.
Dana : )
Jackie W says
I am saving this work out for the day that I can endure it!
Brittany C in TX says
I love Pepperidge Farm Cinnamon Raisin Bread and PB!!! So go for it!!!
elysie says
Me too! It’s a great combination so I bet cinnamon raisin bagels with PB would be good too!
Kristen @ That Hoosier Girl says
I always get strange looks when I try to do intervals on the treadmill…
I’m never sure if it’s because they think I’m crazy or because I’m quite possibly flinging sweat their way. 🙂
Caitlin (EatFeats) says
I don’t know if you ever ate these as a kid: http://www2.kelloggs.com/ProductDetail.aspx?id=803
They are cheese crackers with peanut butter filling and they are delicious. Hence, cheese and peanut butter on a bagel thin must be delicious!
Ellen @ Cinnamonalicious says
I have a love/hate relationship with interval workouts!
I love how I feel afterwards, but I hate the thought of them!
I have to be in the right frame of mind to do them…which is rarely! Really should try harder…:/
Breakfast looks awesome, as usual! 😛
Amanda-The Nutritionist Reviews says
I LOVE that picture where Sadie has her tounge curled up! So cute.
Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter says
Intervals are such a fantastic workout, especially in a short amount of time. I need to get my butt doing those again.
Sarah says
Lady, you are addicted to working out!! I am surprised you aren’t a toothpick. which is a good thing you aren’t!
Maryann says
Two whole minutes on level ten! That is intense girl! I try to last for 20 seconds on level ten 🙂

I don’t know how you and Gabreila (UneVieSeine) manage to do 10.0 sprints! I feel like I’d literally DIE. Great job!
