Remember how my week last week was dominated by peanut butter?
Well, now you may see the fruits of my labor…
You may click here to see the peanut butter recipe slideshow I created for Shape magazine in its entirety.
This may have been the most fun freelance project I’ve ever completed. Writing + Peanut Butter + Amazing Fitness Magazine. It’s going to be a hard one to top. I hope you guys enjoy the recipes!
Lunch
Today’s lunch was enjoyed outside of the home on a hot date with… myself.
I felt the urge to get out of the house to work today and headed to Starbucks to enjoy their free internet and a mocha light Frappuccino late this morning.
(Side note: I desperately need to clean my laptop screen. Anyone know of any good at-home cleaning techniques?)
Oh, and guess what? According to Starbucks and Shape, I’m a whole new person today. I’m Julie Fagan Jewlie Fagon.
Hey, Shape magazine can call me whatever they want.
I worked through my normal lunchtime at Starbucks and was enjoying my new work environment so much that I decided to buy a sandwich and continue plugging away.
I died a little inside when I paid $5.25 for that bad boy. It was pretty good, though I prefer my homemade egg salad.
I think I like all of my homemade egg and tuna salads more than the salads offered at restaurants because I make mine with Miracle Whip and not regular mayonnaise. I know Miracle Whip divides people and evokes a kind of hatred only matched by peoples’ hatred of cottage cheese, but I like it and will stand by the ol’ Whip. Regular mayonnaise gives me the heebie jeebies… kinda like catfish.
Time to get back to work. I think I may be ordering a hot tea because Starbucks is feeling a little chilly at the moment. Or I could walk outside because it’s hotter than a mofo in Orlando.
P.S. The Fashion page was updated this afternoon!

How in the world does someone misspell Julie? That just boggles my mind.
Those pb recipes look delicious! I can’t wait to try some, if not all of them!
Sarah Elizabeth says
Congrats on the feature, Julie! 🙂
Erica says
Congrats on the Shape article!
Sarah says
Have you tried Dukes mayo? I am seriously a snob about that stuff, no Miracle Whip or regular old mayo..it has to be Dukes!
Gen says
Hahahaha I get my name misspelled all the time! First, I’ve got Gennifer with a “G” and not a “J”, and DeLille is just plain weird! 😛
Can’t wait to check out all your peanut butter recipes!
Nicole G. says
I clean my computer screen with an alcohol pad that they would use on you before you get a shot. You can get a pack of like 500 for about two dollars at the drugstore! It wont scratch-trust me I have been doing it forever. I also use them to clean my tv screen and my glasses-plus you can use it on the keyboard to disinfect it.
Ali Damron says
Starbucks is my favorite place to be productive, but I die a little too when I pay that much for a sandwich and Chai Tea, but I still do it:)
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
Wow how fun! tres cool of an opportunity Joolee, haha. 🙂
Jordan P @ food, sweat, and beers says
Once, on a ticket, someone took my name (Jordan) and wrote is like this:
Jor Clan
Two names. Neither one mine. A new record. Jewlie reminds me a lot of the word JUBILEE though, so I like it.
peanutbutterfingers says
Hahaha I love this.
Yolie @ Practising Wellness says
Congratulations “Jewlie”!!! That’s absolutely amazing, can’t wait to check these recipes out.
My name’s Yolie so you can only imagine the difficulties people have both saying and spelling that one, lol! 😛 No biggie! 🙂
I waaaay prefer home-made sandwiches over store-bought ones – I find my own so much more satisfying and healthy.
Working from home a lot is standard for me, so I totally hear you on the need to mix up your location and break out the house every now and then…hope you’ve had a super productive and pleasurable day!

Sounds like you’re loving your new gig as a freelance writer! I wish I was a better writer so I could do it too.

Awesome job on the Shape recipes Jewlie! 🙂
I love that magazine and think you have made a great addition to it! Congrats
Jessica Corbin says
I will say that egg salad cost you 490 calories and 22 grams of fat! I won’t copy/paste the nutrition ingredients, but I am telling you the best option that I have found is the Chicken on Flatbread w/ Hummus Snack Plate! 250 cals, 9 grams of fat, and 17 grams of protein! So good!!!!
Jayme @ Runner-n-Spice says
Julie, congrats on Shape Magazine! What an accomplishment! Loved the slideshow/recipes!
Hope you are having a good week.
@HilaryFleming says
DUDE. That sucks.
Congrats though. You are my hero for the day. Shape is a big effing deal. You go girl. The pics and recipes are awesome.
Danielle says
I am not, nor have a every been a man. Daniel is a boys name, Danielle is a girls name. Really it’s not that hard. It took several months of me correcting the people at Starbucks before I didn’t need to say anything anymore. What pisses me off is there is a lady I have worked with for 10+ years and she still spells my name Daniel. Believe me if I could I would just return her inter-office mail with a note that says ‘No Daniel here, please return to sender’.
peanutbutterfingers says
hahahha i would love to see that email. 🙂
Nicole says
I always use rubbing alcohol and a lint free cloth – that’s how I clean all of the monitors before I setup the computers at work. Just make sure that the screen is off for a while other wise the heat from the screen will make the alcohol dry too quickly and leave streaks.
Jessica @ Bake a Little says
I LOVE the mocha light fraps! So good, so filling. Great treat!
Mary @ Fervent Foodie says
Miracle Whip … bleghhhhhhh…. Guess you know what team I’m on 🙂
Dani @ Dani Delicatessen says
Congratulations! That’s such a perfect project for you. I’ve never tried miracle whip but pre-going vegan i was definitely a fan of cottage cheese : )
Jessica at Stalking Style says
Congrats on the Shape Article Jewlie. 😉
Its about time Peanut Butter got some national recognition.
Abby says
Congrats on the Shape feature. I can’t believe the “Jewlie” spelling….I’m rolling right now from laughing so hard! 😛
Carey @ Positively Blonde says
That’s so exciting! I now have ten PB recipes to try out! But I think the smoothie stole the show 🙂 Looks amazing!!
Chelsa says
Haha I love your use of “mofo” I seriously laughed out loud at that one.
Congrats on the article!
Niki (Life's a Payne) says
I love the recipes! Great job Jewlie 😉
I am a Miracle Whip girl also!
brooke says
Ah, I have had my name (last name) messed up waaaay to many times to count!!
congrats on the SHAPE article, pretty awesome!
Brie says
Congrats on the article!!! That’s so exciting!
My full name is Brieana and i’ve spent my entire life correcting peoples spelling of it. Don’t get me wrong, I love my name and the spelling, but even my dad spelt it wrong on a christmas card one time! And he’s the one that picked the spelling of it lol.
To clean my lap top screen, I use the same spray we bought to clean our flat screen tv. But windex works just as well, only I would use a microfiber cloth instead of paper towel…leaves less lint and definitely wont scratch (and better for the environment!)
Lori says
I read your recipes in the shape slideshow and immediately made myself some granola! Yum! Next up – overnight oats. 🙂 Thanks for sharing; you did an awesome job on the article!
Hannah says
Great slide show.
I cannot STAND the smell or consistency of Mayo..
when I was younger I grew up with tuna sandwiches that my dad made with yogurt and I cannot eat with with anything else.. I never order tuna cause they always DUMP mayo in it.. ew.
Cindy says
I’m totally with you on the whole Miracle Whip deal! Someone once spelled my name “Sindee” instead of Cindy…I mean really, when has anyone ever seen Cindy spelled Sindee? Lol
alyssa says
Thought you might find this funny!

I’ve been going to Starbucks during lunch and have major problems with the cold/hot! I’m in Dallas, where its 100+ at lunch time so sitting outside it out of the question … yet the inside of Starbucks feel like Antarctica!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
Woot! Nicely done for a fun magazine. Good job, lady!
Ali @ Ali Runs says
Congrats on being in Shape magazine! That’s amazing! People at Starbucks spell my name wrong every single time I go in there. Sometimes I think they do it on purpose 🙂
Mrs. Fish says
I loved the Shape slide show today! 🙂
Kelsey says
When I was at Starbucks last, they put my name as Khelse. Like….what? Maybe they are just doing it to mess with us!
Allison @ Happy Tales says
oh good lord… “jewlie”…. really? Fagon I could dismiss.. but not “jewlie.” (No offence to any “jewlies” out there…).
BTW. it amazes me how people can hate on cottage cheese. I freakin’ LOOOOVE that stuff!
Khushboo says

Beth Tollis says
Julie-
I love all the receipes, but as someone who tries to count daily calories, any chance of nutritional breakdowns being posted?
peanutbutterfingers says
hi beth! i don’t personally do the nutritional breakdowns for my recipes, but i know sparkpeople.com has a recipe calculator that you can use to plug in the ingredients and get the nutritional information: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calculator.asp
Alison says
I want to get a drink at Starbucks just for the funny name! Sadly, I’m not a coffee drinker.
There is a news anchor here in NYC who collects these “alter egos” on his blog:
http://www.patspapers.com/blog/c/starbucks/
My favorites: Daisy —> “Jay Z” and Kris —-> “Chris with a K” (yes, they wrote that!!).
Michele Sparrow says
OK. Growing up in Alaska, my mom served us liver a lot. Ew. But, the only way I could stomach it was to spread miracle whip over the top! I don’t eat either one anymore! 🙂
BTW…I thought this recipe had your name all over it! Use PB for the nut butter! 😉

I love fraps or anything coffee quite frankly! Congrats on the Shape job!
Sara @ Nourish and Flourish says
I just scrolled through your peanut butter recipes, and now I’m eating peanut butter straight from the jar. At 1:00am. Great. :-p Maybe tomorrow I’ll actually use what’s left in the jar to make energy bites (if there’s any left!). Congrats on the Shape website publication!
Hayley @ Hayley Daily says
Wow — congrats on the Shape magazine project! How cool! 🙂
Sarah says
i make my egg salad with miracle whip too! It just doesnt taste the same anywhere else and i love it my way!
Megan says
Julie,
I made the granola yesterday but it didn’t come out as clumpy as yours.. Do you use instant oats or something else?!
Thanks!
peanutbutterfingers says
REGULAR (old fashioned) oats!
Amber K says
Personally I think Mircale Whip and mayo taste weird. Greek yogurt is soooo much better!
Amber K says
see it tastes so weird it makes me forget how to spell “miracle”
