Saturday
Saturday morning began with a Burn Boot Camp workout for this girl!
The protocol for the day included an athletic conditioning workout which I’ve been opting out of for a few months but I wanted to sweat and I felt energetic, so I went with the expectation of modifying my little heart out.
The workout included three 90-second rounds of the following exercises:
- Wall Balls
- V-Sit Rope Slams
- Mountain Climbers
- Equalizer Sprinters
- 6-Point Burpees
I’ll detail the modifications I did in an upcoming weekly workout recap post I’m planning to share on the blog tomorrow (yep, they’re baaaack!) so stay tuned if that’s of interest.
I arrived home from the gym to find Ryan and Chase playing puppets and Chase greeted me with a princess puppet to play along. Even though Chase’s dragon puppet attacked my princess puppet with injuries I’m pretty sure were not viable with life, it’s not every day I get to be a princess so I’ll call it a win.
While Ryan and Chase continued puppeting (<— pretend that’s a word), I took a quick shower and then our little crew headed off to Chase’s buddy Jack’s birthday party!
(Check out Chase eyein’ the birthday boy’s cupcake!)
Jack and his friends are some of Chase’s closest friends (and the parents are some of ours) so the party was a blast and Chase was red-faced and sweaty after playing hard in a ball pit. After cupcakes, singing and more playtime, we said our goodbyes and made it home in time for lunch. Chase clearly wore himself out because he took the earliest and longest nap he’s taken in a while which gave me a chance to work and Ryan the opportunity to take Sadie on a long walk!
Once Chase was up we had a family trip to Target on the agenda which sounds oh-so-riveting, I know, but I was actually really excited about it because we planned to have Chase pick out Valentines for his preschool class and our families.
(Sweatshirt / Leggings / Shoes)
We took our time showing him the Valentine boxes but once his eyes caught sight of Lightning McQueen, it was all over! I hope his classmates are fans of Cars as well!
Before making our way back home, Ryan, Chase and I popped into a local Mexican restaurant where I ate my bodyweight in chips and guacamole and polished off my fajitas without blinking an eye. About an hour after we got home, I ended up fixing myself a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal because my appetite was still raging! I actually looked back on some of my pregnancy recap posts on Saturday and saw that I experienced an increase in my appetite around 22 weeks with Chase, so I couldn’t help but laugh when it seemed like my raging appetite reared its head again at the same time during this pregnancy. Give me ALL the food!
Sunday
Sunday morning Ryan and I woke up before 6 a.m. for absolutely no reason which was kind of annoying but I didn’t feel tired so I decided to roll with it and be a little productive. I did some meal planning, made a grocery list for the week and cleaned out a kitchen cabinet that we randomly had filled with tools. I’m not sure why we thought we should have a drill and THREE hammers on hand in a kitchen cabinet, but the tools are now in the garage and the cabinet is now filled with glass jars, pitchers and vases.
Mini cleaning projects are still rockin’ my world over here and feel sooo much more manageable to me than big overhauls. I hope this random cleaning kick lasts!
Once Chase was up and we polished off peanut butter baked steel cut oatmeal for breakfast, our little gang headed off to church and followed up the morning service with a trip to the grocery store.
By the time we made it home, we were ready for lunch and dug into sandwiches before Ryan headed off to the gym and Chase and I prepped a little bit of food for the week ahead. Chase’s love for our race medals is still quite strong, so we chopped veggies and cooked up a batch of quinoa while sporting some 5K race day bling before it was time for his nap.
Ryan arrived home shortly after Chase went down and so the two of us parked our booties on the couch and worked on our laptops for a bit. We spent the rest of our Sunday getting organized for the week ahead and tackled some household chores before the whole dinner, bath and bed time routine.
I hope you guys all had a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

I literally get excited for every target trip, lol. And I tried to do a few cleaning projects around the house since it was a rainy weekend. I found all my old cameras and flip phones in one of my dresser drawers. I never know whether to keep them or recycle or donate. They still hold some memories ya know!

Was wondering if you guys had taken Chase to the Nascar Museum there…..was thinking that you had. I live in Raleigh, and we have a couple of trips to Charlotte planned in the next few months. Was wondering if it would be worth it for my son….he is 3 and a half. Also, I heard they have a Lightning McQueen/Cars exhibit there for the next few months, which my son would love!
Julie says
Yes! We took him about a year ago (so he was only 18 months-ish) and he LOVED it. It’s honestly not amazing for little kids, but since Chase is 100 percent car-obsessed he was ALL IN. I had no idea they have a Cars exhibit going on right now… We will definitely need to check it out! Chase would be all about that!

Sounds like a good weekend. I welcomed my newest nephew into the world this weekend and I didn’t know my heart could feel so much love!

I’d love if you could share more of your weekly meal plans!

I LOVE your sweatshirt. I was looking at the AE website and wondered about the sizing. Did you get your usual size or size up for a looser, more relaxed fit?
Julie says
I ordered a size small which is my pre-pregnancy size so, if anything, I’d size down! It already has a really loose, oversize fit!

I seem to remember the crazy appetite as well!!! I remember thinking I was literally a bottomless pit! FEED THAT BABAY!

I don’t think a Target trip ever sounds boring…on Saturday night my husband and I went to dinner at 5:15, food shopping at Trader Joe’s then watched a movie during which we both passed out. Wild weekend! And we don’t even have kids yet. ha!

Your workout sounds good, I’m going to try it this weekend. Burpees are really tough but worth it. Have a good weekend!
