Yesterday, about 30 minutes after I arrived in Jacksonville, my family and I headed out to celebrate my sister’s 24th birthday. Leslie requested a seafood dinner, so we decided to try a new restaurant called Old Florida.
The restaurant is located on the water and we were lucky enough to grab a seat outside on the deck overlooking the marina.
When we arrived, we couldn’t help but notice a bunch of cats hanging out in front of the restaurant.
They are clearly seafood lovers, too! Someone told us that though they are stray cats, they are all spayed and neutered. Bob Barker would approve. Apparently you can tell that they have been spayed or neutered if one of their ears has been clipped.
The cats didn’t follow us onto the deck, but we had fun watching them enjoy the last bit of sunlight outside of the front of the restaurant.
One we were seated, we dug into the fresh cornbread while we took some time to look over the menu.
I knew I wanted seafood, so I opted for a seafood cobb salad topped with steamed clams.
Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, but managed to save room for dessert. We knew a killer birthday cake was waiting for us when we got back to my parents’ condo.
My mom made my sister an Oreo ice cream cake and it was a hit! Leslie and Ryan share an intense love for Oreos (my mom made the same cake for Ryan’s birthday once before) and I know Ryan was a little jealous he wasn’t there last night. He was missed!
We ate cake while Leslie opened her presents. It was such a nice night and I’m glad I was able to celebrate my sister’s 24th birthday with her!
Happy birthday, Leslie!
that seafood and that cake looks awesome! happy birthday, leslie! 🙂
That restaurant looks so cute, what an awesome view to enjoy over dinner!
Happy birthday to your sis! I turn 24 next month and I’m having a bit of freak out about it. 🙂
Oreo cake? She has good taste!
Aw, those kitties are so sweet. I don’t blame them for wanting a snack or two- that cornbread look totally amazing! Happy late bday to your sis!
Happy birthday to your Sister!
Your Dinner looks great, but that cake looks pretty darn impressive!
Glad you got to spend her celebration with her!
Aww, it would take everything in me not to feed the cats half of my meal. (I did that at an outdoor steakhouse once and the Mr said “you do realize you’re feeding a cat filet mignon right?”) Happy Birthday to your sister and I hope you enjoyed a big ol’ piece of that cake. If your mom wants to share the recipe, I wouldn’t be sad! 😉
Happy Birthday Leslie!! No better way to ring in 24 than with an oreo cake, and thats a fact 🙂
Salad looks great! So does that cornbread… yum!!
Happy Birthday to your sister! That restaurant looks cute and the cornbread looks really good. My husband would be ALL about that oreo cake! He is an oreo fanatic! Would you be able to post the recipe?! 🙂
this entire meal sounds fantastic!! Any restaurant that serves corn bread at the beginning is a winner in my book! Happy birthday to your sister!
What a cute cake! I totally want that for my birthday. 🙂
Happy birthday Leslie! That seafood restaurant looks absolutely delish and that Oreo cake…
OMG!
Seafood + Oreo cake… You can’t go wrong with that! Yum! Happy Birthday Leslie!
Happy birthday to your sister! You should have your mom do a guest post with the recipe for the icecream cake 🙂
Can you post the recipe for the cake please?
My mom didn’t really follow one, but I’ll try to do a step by step tutorial with her when I get a chance!
anyone ever tell you that your sister looks older than you? not in a bad way just a more mature womanly way.
We’ve heard that before 🙂
That oreo cake looks fabulous! So great you got to spend time with your sister, happy birthday Leslie!
Happy birthday your sister!! Love the looks of your dinner, but, especially your dessert!!
Yum! An Oreo cake. Those cats remind me of one of the stops on our cruise in February. We were in San Juan for a day. There were cats all over the place!
Super cute pics! Will you (well your Mom!) share the recipe for this awesome cake?!
Every time you feature a Oreo dessert I get very jealous and consider making one myself….
The only problem and reason I rarely make desserts with store-bought cookies in recipe: Eating half the package before I add the other ingredients.
I think I can, I think I can…. but I can’t.
That cake looks amazing!! I enjoy that I can’t bake my way out of a premixed box. That thing would not last at my apartment! I also think it is so odd that a cat’s ear would get clipped. I wonder why?
That cake looks amazing! I’m so glad your sister enjoyed her special day!
Can you post recipe for oreo cake?
What a fun night! I’m a litle envious that she was abke to wear a cardian at the end of June! It’s 102 here today 😛
Homemade ice cream cake is the absolute best! That is impressive!
That restaurant reminds me of The Crab Shack on Tybee Island in Georgia! Outdoor seating on the water, awesome seafood grub, and cats wandering around everywhere! Love it!
The cats are like the gargoyles for the restaurant haha! And Happy Birthday to Leslie!
I have to agree with Leslie and Ryan – oreos are amazing! Glad you all had a great dinner together!
Happy birthday to Leslie! Now I’m craving seafood. And cake…and sourdough bread…Hm. Those pictures are all gorgeous 🙂
My husband and best friend are obsessed with Oreos too. Looks like your mom did a good job on the cake! Do you have the recipe? I would love to make it for my hubs!
Happy birthday Leslie! The one thing I definitely miss about going to school so far away from my family is being with them on birthdays. Your mom needs to make me that oreo cake sometime–it looks SO good.
I love the kitties outside! So cute! The Oreo cake looks amazing!! I had chocolate cake for my birthday breakfast today haha cake is the best part of birthdays!
Sounds/looks like you enjoyed some nice family time! Safe travels to Portland (that’s your next stop, right?). Just wondering where you got that tan purse that you’re holding in one of the pics from Leslie’s birthday dinner?
Happy Birthday Leslie! That salad looks wonderful!!
Oh my! That cake looks fantastic!!! I’d love to have the recipe if your mom would like to share it. 🙂
Fun night! My husband would love that cake … he’s a huge Oreo fan, too. Personally, I prefer the Golden Oreos. 🙂
I had a major seafood craving last night! Good thing I had shrimp in the freezer…but I’d love to have ended my night with that cake, though! Happy Birthday Leslie =)
How fun! Love that the restaurant had corn bread – yum!
You and your sis are always dressed so cute!
Mmmmm that salad looks awesome!
How fun–happy bday to Leslie!
Beautiful views!!! and the cake looks to die for! 🙂
What a wonderful bday celebration! The oreo cake sounds fantastic!
The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.

Seafood is my favorite! And who doesn’t love anything oreo? That’s a pretty perfect meal!
So odd…. There is a nice seafood restaurant within walking distance of our condo (rough life) and there are ALWAYS cats roaming around! Kinda creepy but cute? Hah! Happy bday to your sista!
I second the recipe request! You better bet that my sweet tooth had already honed in on that bad boy! Looks like such a great birthday, love it 🙂
I love that you and your sister are so close. Too cute! 🙂
Happy Birthday to your sister 🙂 That view is to die for! Has your mom ever made ‘dirt’ cake? I feel like she would dominate it!
The oreo ice cake looks delicious! My BF hates cake and cupcakes so he only eats ice cream cakes. I’ll have to make this for him 🙂
Can you post the recipe for the cake??? That looks amazing!!
