Lil’ Wayne and a Birthday BBQ

October 1, 2011 by Julie 55 Comments

Today was full of food! Ryan and I spent the majority of the day at my mother in law’s house at a birthday BBQ celebrating all of the October birthdays in the family.

Before we headed to Sarasota, we spent a few hours at my parents’ house helping my sister get some goodies together to take to Gainesville where she was heading to tailgate and cheer for the Gators in their big game against Alabama tonight. (They’re currently winning!)

We took my favorite white chocolate dipped Oreos and transformed them into Oreos that were more school spirited by dipping them in blue and orange sprinkles to show some University of Florida pride.birthday bbq 002

Then we made margarita cupcakes because what is a tailgate without a little tequila?

I was on a sugar high by the time we left for the birthday BBQ.

HomeGoods Pit Stop

Before going to the BBQ we made a pit stop at one of my all-time favorite home décor stores, HomeGoods. Oh how I wish we had a HomeGoods in Ocala!

We bought quite a few things for our home including a centerpiece for our dining room table, a trash can for my home office and picture frames for some prints I ordered online.

I really liked these two chairs for a sitting area in our house but they were vetoed by Ryan.

He was a much bigger fan of this print for our dining room…

I answered back with this little gem…

Neither made the cut. I’m not sure Lil’ Wayne has a place in the Fagan household.

Birthday BBQ

After our adventures at HomeGoods, we made it to my mother in law’s house for the birthday BBQ.

As always, the food was fantastic!

Ribs, fried chicken, salad and watermelon filled my plate. I also had more than my fill of dessert that included chocolate cream pie, cheesecake and vanilla cake with buttercream frosting.

And some wine to wash it all down.

We spent the afternoon outside playing corn hole (my team lost) and catching up. It was the perfect afternoon of family and good food.

Time to chill on the couch with the fam and catch the rest of this UF/Alabama game! <—Like how I’m pretending to really care? Pretty sure I’ll be looking for a magazine or something within 10 minutes.

I love “LOL” poster! Hilarious 🙂 Happy bday to Ryan! Mine is Thursday 😀 I know what you mean about the magazine thing-I can’t watch a game with my dad without reading blogs or a magazine. Probably bugs him but I need it!

I think the only place Lil Wayne belongs in anyone’s home is on an ipod! His sick beats really get me going during workouts no matter how filthy they are. 🙂

I think that “LOL” poster would be great in your office! Since you do a lot of work on the internet, and it has yellow in it to go with the rest of the yellow in the room 🙂

I have to stay away from Oreos during the holidays because I can eat an unearthly amount of those…for some reason, I think the colored ones taste better! I’m pretty sure they are just prettier and I can somehow justify eating 10 of them in one sitting!

Your watermelon is awfully close to your chicken and bbq sauce! I was never a “my peas can’t touch my mash” kinda kid(I don’t mind mixing things together), but for some odd reason my mind screamed “don’t let them touch!” When I saw your dinner plate! Haha..but it looks delicious regardless 🙂

(????) LOL i definitely needed the ‘lol’ painting to come back…. we’ve never been to paris nor have had any background. xo glad ur havin’ a great weekend chica!

You should just buy the Lil Wayne picture as a surprise and have it hanging up when Ryan gets home (only to be returned shortly thereafter…once the joking subsides). My husband has a cherished trophy he won in a beer pong tourney that he thinks will eventually be showcased somewhere in our home. I don’t expect it to ever emerge from the basement! 🙂
