Today was full of food! Ryan and I spent the majority of the day at my mother in law’s house at a birthday BBQ celebrating all of the October birthdays in the family.
Before we headed to Sarasota, we spent a few hours at my parents’ house helping my sister get some goodies together to take to Gainesville where she was heading to tailgate and cheer for the Gators in their big game against Alabama tonight. (They’re currently winning!)
We took my favorite white chocolate dipped Oreos and transformed them into Oreos that were more school spirited by dipping them in blue and orange sprinkles to show some University of Florida pride.
Then we made margarita cupcakes because what is a tailgate without a little tequila?
I was on a sugar high by the time we left for the birthday BBQ.
HomeGoods Pit Stop
Before going to the BBQ we made a pit stop at one of my all-time favorite home décor stores, HomeGoods. Oh how I wish we had a HomeGoods in Ocala!
We bought quite a few things for our home including a centerpiece for our dining room table, a trash can for my home office and picture frames for some prints I ordered online.
I really liked these two chairs for a sitting area in our house but they were vetoed by Ryan.
He was a much bigger fan of this print for our dining room…
I answered back with this little gem…
Neither made the cut. I’m not sure Lil’ Wayne has a place in the Fagan household.
Birthday BBQ
After our adventures at HomeGoods, we made it to my mother in law’s house for the birthday BBQ.
As always, the food was fantastic!
Ribs, fried chicken, salad and watermelon filled my plate. I also had more than my fill of dessert that included chocolate cream pie, cheesecake and vanilla cake with buttercream frosting.
And some wine to wash it all down.
We spent the afternoon outside playing corn hole (my team lost) and catching up. It was the perfect afternoon of family and good food.
Time to chill on the couch with the fam and catch the rest of this UF/Alabama game! <—Like how I’m pretending to really care? Pretty sure I’ll be looking for a magazine or something within 10 minutes.
P.S. The Fashion page was updated today!
I love “LOL” poster! Hilarious 🙂 Happy bday to Ryan! Mine is Thursday 😀 I know what you mean about the magazine thing-I can’t watch a game with my dad without reading blogs or a magazine. Probably bugs him but I need it!
I think the only place Lil Wayne belongs in anyone’s home is on an ipod! His sick beats really get me going during workouts no matter how filthy they are. 🙂
Roll Tide! Not that I’m a bama fan, but I despise UF! It sounds like you don’t care either way, but I love me some college football 🙂
Halloween oreos….my ultimate weakness YUM. I used to work at a TJMaxx./Homegoods store and always loved the odds and ends they sold.
LOL! 🙂 I would totally get that! and look at ti everytime I have a bad day!
Dido juju! Watching the game and not a clue what’s going on haha. Thanks for helping me with all the goodies today! Everyone loved the cupcakes and oreos! 🙂
I think that “LOL” poster would be great in your office! Since you do a lot of work on the internet, and it has yellow in it to go with the rest of the yellow in the room 🙂
I love corn hole!! I haven’t played since college, but I must say I’ve got skills! Glad you had a fun day! 🙂
haha i love both of those pictures! i laughed when i saw your response picture 😀
Haha love the lil wayne poster, the response picture was great! Sounds like your having a fabulous weekend!
I have to stay away from Oreos during the holidays because I can eat an unearthly amount of those…for some reason, I think the colored ones taste better! I’m pretty sure they are just prettier and I can somehow justify eating 10 of them in one sitting!
Those Oreos look to die for!! Wow. I def wouldnt have been able to resist. I went to a homegoods today too! I’m moving into my first apartment next weekend!
Happy birthday to Ryan!!
Your watermelon is awfully close to your chicken and bbq sauce! I was never a “my peas can’t touch my mash” kinda kid(I don’t mind mixing things together), but for some odd reason my mind screamed “don’t let them touch!” When I saw your dinner plate! Haha..but it looks delicious regardless 🙂
what a fun day! i absolutely love home goods… it’s as dangerous on my wallet as target. and margarita cupcakes… YUM!
ha!! you two are too funny. that reminds me when scott has turned down all these wall hangings to go above our couch, so when i asked him what he wanted when we were at our version of “HomeGoods” in Austin…. he pointed out this ginormous painting of the eiffel tower in paris…….. (????) LOL i definitely needed the ‘lol’ painting to come back…. we’ve never been to paris nor have had any background. xo glad ur havin’ a great weekend chica!
Oh my heavens I LOVE HomeGoods…it’s a very dangerous store as it’s about 10 min from my house!
I can’t imagine if I walked into someones house and saw a lil wayne poster hanging over the dining room table. Haha! Looks like a fun day. Nothings better than celebrating with family!
Hahaha Home Goods makes me happy, such fun stuff int here! You two are so hilarious 🙂
I’m watching the Florida game, and it’s pretty depressing right now (at halftime). I love my Gators, but they need to get their butts in gear!! 😛
HAHA. Yeah, pretty sure neither of those prints would make it in our house!
Have fun tonight—looks like a perfect day of food and family and fun 🙂
I adore you, and Ryan, and your family, but as a UA student, I just have to say….
ROLL TIDE!!!!! 🙂
I hate to say it but from Huntsville, AL….. Roll Tide Roll!!!!
Holy desserts! Yum 🙂
I think that LOL poster would be perfect for your office!
Also, the straws in the cupcakes are adorable. 🙂
I love how involved with your families you guys are 🙂
Omg I want that LOL signto hang up in my room…loooove it!
what is a margarita cupcake?????????
Those cakes look very tasty! and the couches look lovely 🙂 Id love to have that in my flat, however, we have kind of ended up with a hipster – 70’s swiss chalet type look. Fluffy moose head included! x
bahahaha I always act like I am actually going to watch the game when really I leave the room within 5 minutes! I have no idea what is going on!!!! LOL
Ahaha looks like an awesome celebration! Happy birthday to Ryan!
You mean the Lil Wayne picture wouldn’t make a great centerpiece to your living room??!? I’m sure it would look fantastic over the fire place 😉
What a fun weekend- your family & Ryan’s family definitely know how to celebrate birthdays!!
I have not seen oreo’s like that before. Very cute and creative idea!
I use college football to catch up on magazines, blogs, websites, etc. Pro Football is errand day!
The Kidless Kronicles
The Oreo s look amazing!! Great job on those!
Julie, do you have a pinterest?? I’d love to follow your style board if you do!
yes! http://pinterest.com/pbfingers/
Those cookies look amazing! Im going to a penn state tailgate in a few weeks and am so excited! Did your sisters school win?
nope… they got smaaaashed.
Omg. I was at Home Goods last night w/ the hubby and saw those chairs too. My reaction was yours…David’s was Ryan’s. Haha. Gotta love Home Goods.
I have to admit, I’m very happy that Lil Wayne didn’t end up coming back to your house. 😉 That’d be a little scary to look at everyday. haha
HomeGoods is the BEST! I have a few around here and have yet to get my butt there. I’m definitely going to have to make a trip there today! Nothing like a house warming party to throw some pressure on decorating a new home!
OMG, that LOL poster needs to be mine. Ha!
Yumm at the oreos! Mmmm…
that lil wayne poster is awesome haha…i imagine ur house to be really classy..the thought of a lil wayne poster hanging in there would be hilarious! haha
Sounds like a really fun Saturday!
Oh my GOSH that table of desserts looks incredible! I could dive right into those margarite cupcakes! Yummm!
Those Oreos are a great idea!
Oh, & I love Homegoods!!
Omgness that’s a lot of cakes and desserts! haha. I can imagine what a dessert hangover you must have 😛 I’ve been meaning to visit homegoods~I think there’s one about 30 minutes away from me. Now I’m very curious. Have a gorgeous day!
You should just buy the Lil Wayne picture as a surprise and have it hanging up when Ryan gets home (only to be returned shortly thereafter…once the joking subsides). My husband has a cherished trophy he won in a beer pong tourney that he thinks will eventually be showcased somewhere in our home. I don’t expect it to ever emerge from the basement! 🙂
A Lil Wayne print would definitely add character to your house. 😉
That dessert table looks so good. I want a slice of everything!
Yummy yummy! A lot of my family members have birthdays in October too. And it’s my wedding anniversary. It’s the best month! 🙂
I love wholefoods! that places is dangerous
