Love is in the air!
In the past nine days two of my very best friends in the entire world got engaged!
Michaela, my best friend since elementary school, got engaged to her wonderful boyfriend Kyle yesterday on a hike in Colorado.
(Picture from my visit to see Michaela in Denver in February.)
And last Saturday, Merri, one of my best friends from college, got engaged to her boyfriend Pete after he proposed to her on a picnic in Central Park in New York City.
(Picture from Will and Alex’s wedding in January.)
I am so happy for them and think the world of their future husbands as well. Lots of wedding fun in 2013!
Workout
This morning I awoke around 6 a.m. and drove to the gym for a workout.
Phase Two of Tina’s Best Body Boot Camp started today and incorporated super sets with cardio thrown in between. It was a good one and I was in and out of the gym in less than an hour.
On my way out, I grabbed one of the complimentary apples to eat on the way home.
Breakfast
Once I arrived back at my parents’ house, I fixed myself a breakfast that totally hit the spot.
While this may look like an ordinary bowl of scrambled eggs, these eggs were some of the best I’ve made thanks to two special ingredients: Edamame and crab!
The parmesan cheese, onion and orange pepper deserve a little credit for the fantastic flavor, too. I loved this bowl of eggs!
With food in my belly, I drove to my 9 a.m. dentist appointment which went well.
On the way back home, I swung by The Fresh Market to pick up some things and left with a fancy new drink that caught my eye.
Sparkling? Coconut? It sounded right up my alley, but unfortunately it tasted like armpit. I took two sips and couldn’t power through the rest. Not the drink for me.
August Book Club
Before signing off for the morning, I must announce the winning book for the PBF August Book Club!
With slightly more than 50 percent of the vote, the winning book is…
My mom started reading this book last week and said it is awesome so far. I cannot wait to start!
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
It’s so exciting when friends get engaged or get pregnant. It’s some of the best news you can get.
Danielle says
Oh my gosh I JUST finished reading this weekend (only took me two days – so enthralled!). I think everyone will really enjoy – so many twists and turns!!
Katie says
Yay for Gone Girl! 🙂
I tried that same drink, too, in hopes that it would be awesome. I mean, coconut, really?? How could it NOT be, right? But I agree, it really did taste like armpit (hehe).
Brigitt says
Congrats to your friends–so exciting! I’m so happy Gone Girl is the book this month. I read it last weekend in just 3 days! I just couldn’t put it down!
Kaitlin @4loveofcarrots says
I started reading Gone Girl over the weekend in hopes that it would be the winner for book club this time around! It is soo good so far and find it hard to put down!
Michelle @ Eat Move Balance says
Edamame and crab! That sounds so good! I’ll have to remember that idea . . .
Alex @ Brain, Body, Because says
So exciting! Everyone deserves to find the happiness of marrying your best friend 🙂
Kristi says
I just tried that drink last week too…and I agree. Gross!
Alex @ Brain, Body, Because says
Also, that book sounds a little scary for me, but I’m looking forward to reading everyone’s reviews.
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
Congrats to your friends! 🙂 That is lovely!
I just put in a request for that book from my local library. I hope it comes in soon!!
Catherine says
I’m number 327 on the wait list at the DC public library haha. I don’t know if I’ll get it before August is over!
Tracy says
Finished this book a couple weeks ago. It’s very good! Enjoy
Sloane @ Life Food and Beer says
I am not a morning person and find it amazing how much you have completed by 1030AM. 🙂 The only thing I have complete is my first cup of coffee.
Taylor says
Armpit is never a good flavor. I hate that when you find something that sounds so amazing and turns out to be so gross it gets tossed.
I saw this at whole foods the other day and was curious, good to know to avoid it.
Holly @ Healthy Living Holly says
congratulations to your best friends! that is fantastic. i love love! 🙂
i may have to check out tina’s bootcamp. i run lots, but i know that i slack in the strength department!
Mary Pearson says
Have you tried LaCroix sparkling coconut water?? It is delish!
Cheri @ The Watering Mouth says
Plain coconut water…uhh….takes some getting used to. (I refuse). But if you get the ones flavored with other fruit juices, they’re actually pretty tolerable.
And they’re REALLY good for you.
Reminds me of the people who drink pickle juice because it’s supposed to be good for replenishing blah blah blah. I’ll stick with water for now! 😀
xoxo

Angela @ Health's Angel says
I picked up Gone Girl on Friday, and I finished it over the weekend. So, so good. A page-turner for sure.
Jess @ Healthy 'n Hungry says
I just tried to request the book at my library and there are 633 active requests! Must be a really good book!! 🙂
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
That breakfast looks AMAZING!!! Haha and love is in the air with my friends too, I have one getting married in December and my best friend from college is waiting for a proposal (they’ve already discussed it and she knows it’s coming in the next couple months! haha I’m dying!).
joelle (on a pink typewriter) says
This book looks good! I’m going to have to pick i tup!
Nikki says
So glad I read this! I have been toying with the idea of sparkling coconut water but haven’t gotten any yet. After your post I think I will just stick to regular. Sometimes the plain is hard enough for me to drink. lol! 🙂
Nikki says
I feel so rude, congratulations to your friends! Hope they all have long loving lives together. 🙂
Ashley Agee says
Yay! Can’t wait to download it and get started! I plan to start it later this month while I’m away on my cruise. 😀
Julianna @ Julianna Bananna says
i always love hearing about engagements and weddings {even if i’m only 17, haha 😉 }!!
also, just out of curiosity – do you like using the free weights at your gym? i use free weights at home a lot, but then when i get to the gym i either take BodyPump classes or use the weight machines because i get intimidated by everyone using free weights. they all look like they know exactly what they’re doing and it’s also usually a fairly crowded area of my gym!
Elaine says
I recently requested to be put on the wait-list at my library for this book. I’ve heard lots of good things, so hopefully I won’t have to wait too long. And congrats to your two friends!
Anjali Kotagal says
I tried Kevita this past week and was so excited to try it because it was sparkling mango…and it was awful!!! yuck. I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t like the taste!
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles says
Congrats to your friends!! Engagements are always thrilling.
I love crab but can honestly say I’ve never tried it in eggs before – sounds fantastic.
Khushboo says
Congrats to your friends – very exciting :)! I’ve been wanting to read that book…it’s on my list as soon as I finish the 50 Shades trilogy!
Coco says
My mom just lent me Gone Girl on the nook! YAY!
Laura says
haha I just had to comment that I tried that exact same drink since it sounded awesome…and I almost threw up, it was so nasty!!
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
Congrats to your friends on the engagements!!! I got engaged in Colorado too- we were doing a bike ride from Vail to Breckenridge, and stopped to kayak in Frisco, and that’s where he asked! Must be part of the reason why I’m SO in love with CO.
Laura says
Going to get Gone Girl today! So excited to start reading…
And love has definitely been in the air. Every time I get on facebook or twitter, there are at least 3 new engagement announcements. Craziness!
Congrats to your friends!
Ellie@Fit for the Soul says
Wahoooo how exciting for your friends! And I think it’s precious that they all got engaged out in nature–like the hike and a picnic. Pretty cool. And I hate it when food tastes like sweat too! Well, it’s more like the smell of sweaty BO 😛
Kim @ Baby Steps to Balance says
I just downloaded Gone Girl to my kindle and can’t wait to read it 🙂
Emily says
I had a Starbuck’s Cool Lime refresher the other day and had to toss it after a few sips. I was expecting more lime, less-whatever-made-it-taste-like-cough-syrup. I got lunch at Panera and tossed it there! Sad day… I hear the Very Berry Hibiscus isn’t much better. 🙁
Annette@FitnessPerks says
Ahhh I want to read that book! Must get it quick from the library!
YAY for all your friends! I’ve had a bunch of friends just have babies and/or announce about ’em, so that’s super exciting for them as well!
Lisa says
I just started reading Gone Girl, it looks really good so I can’t wait to get through it.
Congrats on your friends news! How exciting.
I still haven’t tried that drink, I was hearing such great things about it but I guess we all don’t like the same thing so it just depends…I don’t really like plain coconut water too much so I doubt I’d be into that.
Lilly says
I actually LOVE Kevita – but not the coconut flavor! Try the lemon/ginger and the black tea pomegranate flavors, they are amazing!
Amanda says
Firstly, I really like reading your blog. Secondly, I tried the pomegranate tea Kevita just last week and it was no bueno. All I could taste was apple cider vinegar. Congrats to your friends :).
Katie says
Oh, congratulations to your friends!! Weddings are always super fun and exciting. I’m going to one in California next week for my cousin, and I can’t wait! I get to be a junior bridesmaid. 🙂
I’m letting my food digest right now before doing today’s bootcamp workout, and I totally can’t wait!
Sorry to hear about the sparkling coconut drink.. It looked and sounded so good, too! 🙁
Kanoe says
I saw that drink at Whole Foods & thought about it for a second but now that you say it tastes like armpit( gotta say love that :-D) I won’t be trying it. I love coconut water but I’m guessing not that??!! Ewww LOL 😀 And Gone Girl looks like a winner of a book
Rachel says
