Someone is awfully happy to be at the beach!
After quickly popping by the gym for some work-related business after breakfast this morning, I came home and picked up Sadie and headed to my parents’ place in Jacksonville Beach. Sadie loves it here and ran around their condo frantically searching for my parents so she could wiggle like crazy, whimper and give them her usual enthusiastic hello. Unfortunately no one was here to greet her and once she realized this, she ran back to me and gave me her “No one is here! Fix this!!!” face.
My mom is actually in Pennsylvania with my grandma who had to go to the hospital over the weekend. She is okay, but my mom wanted to be there to take her home from the hospital once she is ready to return to her house in Gettysburg. My dad will be home later tonight, but I won’t see either of them because I’m heading off to St. Augustine in a bit for a quick meeting. Since St. Augustine is so close to Jacksonville, I decided to piggyback on my meeting and drop Sadie off at my parents’ place since they were kind enough to agree to watch her this weekend while we are out of town for my best friend’s wedding. They love Sadie and she is obsessed with them, so it works out rather well!
Before I left Ocala, I made myself a peanut butter mocha smoothie with spinach to tide me over.
It was delicious!
By time time I arrived in Jacksonville, my appetite wasn’t really raging, so I kept lunch simple and fixed myself a yogurt bowl with Liberte coconut yogurt, walnuts and granola.
Enjoyed with a view!
After my late lunch, I brought my laptop onto the patio to work outside and watch Sadie mentally stalk seagulls on the beach from above. I’m hoping Ryan and I will be able to enjoy some beach time on Memorial Day when we come back to pick up Sadie even though I am sure it will be absolutely slammed! All of this weekend talk has me feeling way too excited about all of the wedding fun that officially kicks off on Friday. The countdown is on!
Question of the Afternoon
- What is one thing you’re looking forward to this holiday weekend?
Gorgeous view!! I’d love to live at the beach one day. Sadie is SO cute with that face. Have fun at the wedding!! I’m looking forward to some bbq’s 🙂
That is one amazing view to have from their balcony!
Eating a meal with a view of the ocean makes it taste even better! Have a blast this weekend! I went out of town last weekend so this weekend all I have planned so far is a birthday celebration one night.
We have a wedding too – in Chicago. And even though I live in MN, I have never been to Chicago! Any recommendations for what we should do/see/or eat???
Katie~Chicago is my home town!! I adore my city and I soo hope you have fun! Here are a couple fun things to do (assuming you are downtown).
*Shop the Mag mile-of course…be sure to have a drink in the Hancock Building on the 95th floor, unbeatable views
*Have a burger at Billy Goat Tavern (google it!)
*Go out for sushi at Japonais then drinks around Rush and Division (hot spot for downtown!)
*Take the Red Line up to Lincoln Park and stroll around, go through the Lincoln Park Zoo for free.
*I would tell you to eat at Top Chef winner Stepahnies awesome restaurant “Girl and the Goat” but I can’t even get in there lately!
I love Christina’s recommendations!
We are headed to port saint joe for camping and kayaking but the best part is hubby and I will be celebrating 7 years of marriage!! I’m so thankful for his dedication and love.
Congratulations!!!!!
I don’t have any major plans this holiday weekend but I am looking forward to the time off of work. I get both Friday and Monday off.
I’m visiting my best friend who I haven’t seen in a couple months, so I am incredibly excited about that!
We don’t have a holiday weekend here in Australia this weekend but I’m looking forward to the weekend anyway as my boyfriend and I have a couples massage booked that our friends gave us for our birthday.
Sadie’s face in that fix it photo is too cute 🙂
Oh how I miss being able to walk to the beach!
I’m looking forward to my husband arriving home (he’s been interstate for work) and then driving to his parent’s house to enjoy a big family get together!
Funny enough, I’m going to be in Florida! My mom and I planned a girls trip to South Beach, Miami and later realized that it’s “Urban Beach Weekend”. It’s going to be interesting to say the least… hahahh.
Ah, the beach! Wonderful. 🙂 Last weekend was our holiday weekend in Canada, so this weekend I’ve just got a big exam and relaxing the rest of the time. Enjoy yours!
I’m going to visit my family and friends in chicago tomorrow and I could not be more excited!
Sounds like Sadie is in for a great weekend! Grandparents are always great at spoiling. 😉 I’m looking forward to going to Phoenix to visit my family with our little Hunter. He still has several family members to meet, so it’ll be fun!
I will be working allllll weekend long. But I’m looking forward to the large paycheck afterwards. 🙂
That view is so pretty! I’d love to wake up to the beach every morning…the sunrises and sunsets must be absolutely phenomenal.
One thing I’m looking forward to is getting back together with some old high school friends on Saturday! It should be a good time. 🙂
Looks like a wonderful time. I have to try that smoothie.
I hope you have a fantastic time! I’m the maid of honor at my best friend’s wedding this Saturday! I am so excited! The only bad thing is that we are camping all weekend and the wedding is outdoors… And the forecast calls for rain the entire four day weekend. Oh, well! Rain on your wedding day is supposedly good luck, right??
That is one AMAZING view! Yogurt bowls are always so tasty 🙂
Love the pics of Sadie…so cute!
Ooooh…I need to try that smoothie!
I can’t wait to see my friends and family this weekend! It’ll be so fun to see everyone!
Omg I cannot wait for this weekend either! Love summer and Memorial Day! Have fun t the wedding,
What an amazing view! I don’t think I’d ever leave that place…And I guess we don’t really have any big Memorial Day plans, but my birthday is June 1st (and I’m a birthday person!!) so that’ll be fun 🙂

Going home for the first time since Easter!
Ohhhh I hope you get to share the results of your meeting in my hometown!
I actually get to go home to STA for the first time since I moved a year and a half ago this weekend, yippee!
I’m throwing my Friend’s bridal shower on Saturday 🙂
Looking forward to the official kick-off to summer with a Memorial Day cookout with the family!
“Someone is awfully happy to be at the beach!” <– I'm fairly certain that sentence could refer to anyone. Me included 😉
Love lunch with a view! Hopefully I’ll have a view this weekend as I’m headed to Newport Rhode Island for my best friend’s wedding.
It looks to be rainy but hopefully things will turn around 🙂
What a great view! I’m looking forward to landscaping our backyard with grass! We live in Arizona and haven’t had grass for almost 7 years! I also know my toddler and pup will love it so much better than rocks! I’m also looking forward to just relaxing, grilling and eating some good food! 🙂
I’m trying to convince myself to take Friday off and enjoy a four-day weekend! I think it’ll happen. I’m very persuasive! 🙂
Enjoy your weekend! So…once upon a post you mentioned a cake batter whey protein mix? What brand & where did you get it? Seriously love some cake batter!:) thank you!
it was made by all the whey, but i don’t think they make it anymore. sad!
I must try that smoothie. What kind of instant coffee do you use?
My summer just started, so relaxing sounds GREAT to me!
That coconut yogurt looks YUM! I think I will have to try that tomorrow morning with your peanut butter granola! Have a great weekend 🙂
Isn’t Liberte yogurt – particularly the coconut & fig flavors – AMAZING?!
oh my gosh, the coconut tastes like dessert in a bowl to me!
Are there coconut flakes in the yogurt? I don’t like the texture of coconut but I like the taste!
Super cute!! Love Sadie so sweet :-). I am looking forward to going to the beach and just zoning out! Have a great weekend Love + Shine Courtstar
Some decent weather so I can go out without taking clothes for every eventuality. I live in the UK and we haven’t seen the sun hardly at all yet this year.
I cannot wait to see that view again! 😀
I am looking forward to my Mall of America trip and hotel stay (with a pool!) Hopefully it will be warm in Minneapolis!
Liz~you should check out “Chino Latio” in MNPLS, it is one of my all time favorite restaurants!!
Mmm coconut yogurt looks good!
