This Wednesday is flyin’ by! I took an impromptu day off from the gym and worked through the morning before heading out to a Taste of Ocala committee meeting before lunch.
The event is approaching quickly and we’re starting to get everything in order.
Once the meeting was over, I drove around town and distributed some of our materials to local businesses to help spread the word about the event.
By the time I got home, my stomach was grumbling!
Right when I walked through the door, I headed into the kitchen to make myself a roast beef sandwich.
I topped multigrain bread from the Publix bakery with Dijon mustard, mixed greens, avocado and roast beef.
There’s something so glorious about freshly baked bread. The multigrain bread and the avocado stole the show!
And now it’s time to select the book for the PBF March Book Club!
March Book Club
The PBF Book Club is an online book club that is open to anyone! We simply vote for a book to read from the three books listed below (taken from your suggestions on the PBF Facebook page) and on Friday, April 5, I will post my review along with discussion questions for book club participants to answer in the comments section of the post.
If you are a blogger and post a review of the selected book on your blog, you can email me a link to your review post (pbfingers@gmail.com) before April 4 and I will include a link to your post in the roundup of blogger book review links.
Please vote for the book you would like to read below. I will announce the winning book tomorrow afternoon.
Also, for the first time ever, I brought back a past contender (The Fault in Our Stars) because so many of you recommended it over and over again on the PBF Facebook page and said it is a “must read.”
The contenders for the month of March include…
- Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life—steady boyfriend, close family—who has never been farther afield than their tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex–Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair bound after an accident. Will has always lived a huge life—big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel—and now he’s pretty sure he cannot live the way he is.
Will is acerbic, moody, bossy—but Lou refuses to treat him with kid gloves, and soon his happiness means more to her than she expected. When she learns that Will has shocking plans of his own, she sets out to show him that life is still worth living.
- The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.
- The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
Former piano prodigy Nastya Kashnikov wants two things: to get through high school without anyone learning about her past and to make the boy who took everything from her—her identity, her spirit, her will to live—pay.
Josh Bennett’s story is no secret: every person he loves has been taken from his life until, at seventeen years old, there is no one left. Now all he wants is be left alone and people allow it because when your name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space.
Everyone except Nastya, the mysterious new girl at school who starts showing up and won’t go away until she’s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life. But the more he gets to know her, the more of an enigma she becomes. As their relationship intensifies and the unanswered questions begin to pile up, he starts to wonder if he will ever learn the secrets she’s been hiding—or if he even wants to.

I’ll go with whatever you choose. I don’t always do posts and things but try to read what gets picked since they are always good ones. Read Blackberry Winter on my cruise and LOVED it. Although agreed with a lot of the points you made as well about things being somewhat expected with the way it was laid out.

I never like sandwiches at home as much as out because of the bread. I should stop and get fresh bread more often just for that reason.
Malisa says
Just finished Me Before You yesterday. It was really good!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Omg that sandwich is making me so hungry, I can’t remember the last time I had roast beef!
Diana says
Bit of a strange question: how do you store your avocado? You never seem to use all of an avocado in your meals, and I’m at a loss for how to store one after I’ve cut off bits to use.
Melissa @mypeachlife says
If you use the half without the pit then you can store the side with the pit in it in the fridge. I just wrap it in cling wrap. But store the side with the pit then it won’t turn brown.
Kelsie says
i wish i enjoyed reading more!

I have to ask…on your “who’s who” page, in the Ryan section you are wearing a long sleeved peach/coral/orange dress that has a ruffled neckline with nude heels. Where is that dress from?!?! It’s GORGEOUS!
