Question: Why, if I went to bed at 4 a.m., am I up at 8 a.m.? Riddle me that, my friends!
The oddest thing is that I don’t even feel that sleepy. I’m sure it will hit me later, but for right now, I’m going to just roll with it!
Last night, a few of my girlfriends and I rented out the dock at Hillstone (formerly Houston’s) for a goodbye party for our friend Merri. (It’s the same dock Ryan rented out for our families to enjoy a private dinner together on the night he proposed.)
A bunch of our friends from college came in town to wish Merri the best before she moves to New York at the end of May and it was great to see everyone and catch up.
While on the dock everyone enjoyed drinks, appetizers and cake and toasted to Merri with some champagne.
A littler after 11 p.m., we decided to take the party downtown!
I’m not sure what was in that shot, but it wasn’t too bad (for a shot)… I may also feel this way because this was my bazillionth drink of the night at this time.
Clearly drinks fuel some fantastic faces for me and Ryan.
We stayed downtown for the remainder of the night until Ryan, our friend Ross and I headed back to our apartment where we thought it would be a great idea to stay up for another few hours chatting away. We’re so wise.
Breakfast
Something about a night of drinking makes me wake up wanting something carby… or really greasy if I’m super hungover. Thankfully I didn’t feel too shabby this morning, so pancakes sounded perfect!
To make the pancakes I combined the following:
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. oats
- 1 tbsp. Kelapo coconut oil
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. almond milk
- 1 tsp. baking powder
Topped off with some ground flax seeds and a little syrup!
For some reason I can’t seem to eat enough this morning, so I also whipped up a chocolate strawberry smoothie about 15 minutes after polishing off my pancakes.
The plans for today may include hiking or the Winter Park farmer’s market… if we can motivate ourselves to get moving. For right now, spending the morning on the couch sounds like a good plan. I think we’ve reverted back to our college selves for the weekend…

I swear my internal clock always insists on waking me up by 8:30 at the latest. Sometimes I try to FORCE myself back to sleep because I feel like I should. mehhhhh.

I always get up really early after a night of drinking also! I think that the alcohol messes up your sleep cycle. In any case, sounds like a fun night! =)

Parita @ myinnershakti says
Looks like everyone had a blast! And I can’t ever seem to sleep in now, and it’s kinda weird because the later I go to bed the earlier I wake up. Messed up! I hope your Saturday is relaxing and fun. 🙂

Whenever I drink more than maybe 1 drink, I ALWAYS wake up ridiculously early. Between 6-7am. Because if you are even a bit hungover, you really want to be awake during the worst part of it.

Were you across the street from the Park Plaza hotel Friday night? We were staying there. We ate at Winter Park Fish Company and 310 Park South. Both were very good! I had several glasses of wine Saturday night so I was really hungry Sunday morning! Ate at Briar Patch (I think that was the name) I love your dress!
