Hiiii!
Do you ever have those days where you wake up and your mind is already running a million miles a minute? That is me today. And that’s not something that’s okay in Pure Barre. Losing my concentration in Pure Barre means I’ll find myself crunching one way while the whole class is going the other way or I’ll end up balancing on my left leg while the rest of the class in on their right.
About 15 minutes into the class, I told myself to focus and forget about all of my thoughts, but I felt like Ellen Degeneres (<— Please watch that video starting at 6:00. Hilarious!) because, as hard as I tried to concentrate, the most random thoughts started popping back up in my mind.
I’m pretty sure that by the end of class, I planned out exactly what I wanted to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner today and designed my dream laundry room in my mind.
If the comments on my dream house blog post from last Thursday are any indication, a bunch of you guys are just as into house-talk as I am, so here are a few pictures I found on Pinterest that reflect some of the ideas I have for my dream laundry room. (Why I am dreaming of a nice laundry room, I’ll never know, but that’s where my head went this morning. Maybe because it’s small and seems somewhat manageable? I told you I am all over the place.)

I’m not sure who I am kidding thinking my laundry room will look anything like those pictures, but a girl can dream. I love the idea of a laundry room with light sea foam-colored walls and white bead board. Something beautiful and airy!
Breakfast
And here’s the breakfast I dreamed about during Pure Barre:
It was nothing fancy, but I had a serious craving for almond butter and this hot bowl of oatmeal topped with a big spoonful of almond butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon did the trick.
Have a great Thursday, my friends!
This is why I love running because I have a lot of these days where my mind is racing and I need to sort through it all.
I love laundry rooms! I just went to a design house event in Omaha and fell in love with the shelves in this laundry room.

SO cute and much cheaper than installing cabinets in your laundry room!
Love those!!! I adore thick wood shelves and those are beautiful!
Loooooove those laundry rooms!! aren’t you in the market right now for a new home?! that’s likely the reason! 😉 exciting!
Yes! House thoughts are definitely consuming my mind right now. 🙂
LOLOL You know how some people go to a “happy place” during a workout? I daydream about what I’m going to eat all day.
Those laundry rooms are so pretty…I can only imagine what the rest of those houses look like!
Hahaha. That always happens to me during a class. I start thinking all over the place and end up making my own “clumsy” routine. I swear I can’t help it and I bet everyone is laughing at me in their thoughts!
Those house pictures look amazing. I love the brightness, elegance and simplicity they show. Great taste!
That is exactly that I had for breakfast too today – so simple and satisfying 🙂
I never knew laundry rooms could look so good! ha!
I made it to the 6am class today for the first time…I missed you this morning! I loved getting it done early. My lack of coordination requires my full attention in class!!
Aw, I was at 7:15!!! Bummed we missed each other!
I can be the exact same way!
For my laundry room, I kept it clean and simple with tile floors, Sage paint from Restoration Hardware, white cupboards and cute baskets. Very similar to your pins! I love to feel like the room is clean where I am trying to do cleaning…haha.
Hot oatmeal… summer must be coming to a close!
I think about food all the time! What I”m going to eat for lunch and dinner today, AND Tomorrow…and maybe the next day hahaha
Are you planning on teaching at a gym again in Charlotte once you get settled?
I actually have quite a few ideas. 🙂 Once we get this whole living situation thing figured out, I’d like to do something. Teaching Pure Barre is a goal of mine, but I have a ways to go before I think I’m ready to teach!
I totally relate! I’ve been all over the place lately! Moving is stressful!
Your oatmeal looks delicious!
My fiancé would love this post. He has some great ideas in order to revamp our laundry room; however, it’s one of the last things listed on our to-do list. Once you buy a home, you’ll quickly learn that the to-list is never ending as you are always adding to it. Happy house-hunting! : )
I have my dream laundry room all set to go once we build/buy our next house. I saw it in a lottery home once and ever since then I know I want that exact one. It likely costs more money than I’m willing to dish over 😉
Maybeyour day dream helped take your mind off of shaking legs! 🙂 I would fall in barre class if I was day dreaming. Clumsy girl probs! 🙂 I love the laundry rooms. Hopefully you can incorporate some of the design ideas into your new home.
Good lord woman. You are stealing my heart with your great ideas. Breadboard is a managible project for DIY newbies. Also, a great inexpensive surface for laundry would be ikea butcher block. Lucky you have an IKEA in Charlotte.
Thanks so much for the tips!!
Haha too funny- I was on pinterest last night and saw that you had pinned a bunch of home stuff and LOOOOVED all of it! I can’t wait to one day have a house of my own to decorate!
I was on a Pinterest hiatus until all of this house stuff started happening! Now I am back in the thick of things. 🙂
I know the million-miles-a-minute-brain too well, but hey, at least we can get good breakfasts and laundry rooms out of it. 😉 The Ellen video hits the nail on the head!
I swear my mind is always going a million miles a minute, especially lately. it’s exhausting! lol
Not sure where that unsourced photo was from, but you can always reverse google image it! Learned that trick recently, and it blew my mind!
Girl, I’m right there with you. I do that all the time with the racing mind. If it burned calories, I’d look like you by now! 😉 ANNNNNNNNND it reminded me I wanted to do a search for how to sew something with the repeating about money in the jeans so THANK YOU!!! LOL
BTW, the 2nd laundry room? Swoooooooooooon.
Holy beautiful laundry rooms! I would love to have a beautiful space with lots of storage for clothes. I suppose moving my washer and dryer from the garage would be a start…
So true about Pure Barre- you must stay focused! I just got back from a class and the instructor said there is always one person working the wrong leg which can throw off the class! lol
I know the feeling! I think that’s why I work so well with running, I can zone out and go into my own little world and plan 100 things that really don’t need planning. I had the same problem in pure barre, and I had to constantly remind myself to stay with the correct move instead of worrying about 10 other things. It’s also my big issue with tennis, I simply can’t get myself to focus that hard for an hour straight. I start thinking about what I might wear to a wedding that’s 3 months away and suddenly a ball is 2 inches from my face.
Those laundry rooms look nice! I think everyone needs a nice laundry room because doing laundry is so un-fun, it helps to have some pretty things to look at while you’re in there and make the whole process more pleasant. I totally get it! Good luck (eventually) creating the perfect one!
If you are dreaming of a laundry room, does that mean the plans for that house went well with the contractor yesterday?? I hope so! I have those times too, but usually going for a run totally helps me! The worst is when it’s at night and then I can’t fall asleep.
Those laundry rooms our beautiful. When we were house hunting I wanted a house with the laundry on the same floor as the bedrooms and we got it…best ever! I also love how all of these have the shelving on top of the washer/dryer however we ended up buying a top load washer (less likely to have leaks, bigger drum for more clothes, ect).
But I can’t stress how much I love the laundry on the same floor as our bedrooms..the only time I carry laundry is the one or two dish towels I wash that I need to bring back down stairs to the kitchen.
I totally can relate to day dreaming about laundry rooms lol. I usually day dream about all things house all the time. A nice laundry room makes actually doing laundry slightly better too.
Your almond butter craving is causing ME to have an almond butter craving. And OH MAN. That first laundry room. Our current one is practically a closet that also houses a bunch of fans and the vacuum. I need more space!
Those are really pretty rooms! I totally know what you mean about waking up and having a million thoughts on your mind though. It happens pretty often!!
I used some of your 30 minute at home workout moves in my hop on hop off treadmill workout I did this morning…Thanks!

So glad to hear it! Thanks for sharing, Kelsie.
OH girl! I feel ya. That was me during yoga this morning!! Tree pose turned more into an interpretive dance and I’m sure the teacher thought I was the most incompetent person in class, haha!
Haha that’s one of the reasons I really like Pure Barre – it forces me to just focus on the workout and my body.
You are too funny. I do the same thing when I run. We are currently looking for our second home so I am always on pinterest or zillow it feels like.
did you add anything else into your oatmeal besides cinnamon and almond butter? it looks thick and delicious!
I really like the top picture! I had no idea laundry rooms could be so pretty – go for it! I bet whatever you do will be great:)
Don’t feel weird about daydreaming of the perfect laundry room, it’s a woman thing lol. I was so excited when we moved into a house that had an actual laundry room instead of a laundry hallway lol. Having it decorated makes it feel like a part of the rest of the house, rather than everything else looking nice and the laundry is the no-go zone for visitors.
Also, you are one of the bloggers than inspired me to start my own blog. I’ve followed you for about a year and finally got the nerve to start my own. Just wanted to thank you, it really helps me unwind and I stress less, which is pretty amazing.
You sound just like me right now! We just bought a new house but don’t close for 2 weeks and my mind is RACING with ideas and I just want to get in there and get started!!! I have to keep a notepad by my bed at night for all my thoughts so that I can actually get a good night sleep 🙂
Hope you managed to switch off at some point!! 🙂 I’m on a huge almond butter kick at the moment, I need my daily fix!
Those laundry rooms are beautiful! It makes me want to re-do mine (which looks absolutely nothing like the above!) Right now it’s just an empty room with our washer and dryer and a shelf. It has potential. Someday… Have a great day! 🙂
You’re blog has become extremely boring.
Those laundry rooms are to die for! I still won’t own a home for a few more years, and I am already getting excited!! I hope you get everthing that you want! Remember that you can also decorate it to look like you want 🙂
That is me to a T, during ANY workout. Always scheming up what I’m going to eat afterwards. 🙂
I too daydreamed about redoing our laundry room when we moved into our house in June because it was the smallest room in the house. Two months later all that has been done in the laundry room is the white paint that we put up to cover the hideous salmon colored walls and we redid the floors. I can’t even decide on a paint color for the walls. BUT I have tackled all the large rooms in the house and those are done. Makes NO sense. And also, our house came with the front load washer and dryers. If I can give you any piece of advice do NOT get the front loaders. Both the washer AND the dryer (yes dryer) leak water on a regular basis and we use the proper laundry detergent. Also, I have struggled with mold issues in the washer since we moved in and we leave the door open in between washes. I am constantly cleaning it with a mixture of vinegar and baking powder and still the mold smell comes and goes. We are getting rid of them as soon as we can. Good luck with your house and I can’t wait to read all about it. And good luck with your laundry room!
I think different places have different styles of barre class. Have you been a dancer?
Haha Ellen standup is my absolute favorite! It’s like she knows my life. I’ve redone rooms in my house a million times in my head too. I think the allure of the dream laundry room is the idea that a nice room would make you actually WANT to do laundry.
My mind always seems to run away from me when I’m at work and I really need to get something done. It’s then that I can’t seem to focus.
Love those laundry rooms – so pretty!!
I met with our home designer today and we talked a lot about the laundry room for our new home we are building! I just saved some of your pics! Thanks a million!!!
I can totally relate to you on the whole mind racing thing. Story of my life whenever I try to concentrate and “clear my mind.” Not possible. Also, your laundry room pictures are perfect. My boyfriend and I just redid our laundry room and now you’re making me want to redo it again…..
PS. I have been reading your blog for a few years now and it is my absolute favorite and I love your life and I have never commented until now, but I think you’re wonderful! 🙂
When I tour new homes I’m always fantasizing and drooling over the laundry room as well. Don’t know why that is, but I think you touched on something about it seeming smaller and more manageable. We admire but turn away from a kitchen remodel, whereas a laundry room remodel seems doable and therefore imminent, amping up the excitement factor. (I go to the Parade of Homes tour in MN every year, which is why I’m touring so many homes! Gathering ideas…..)
