After an uneventful hotel dinner (tortellini), Ryan and I decided to head out to Mochi again to see if the place was still as slammed as it was last week when we went for some frozen yogurt.
Well… it was.
Mochi must be the watering hole of Ocala or something. I swear we walked in behind a flippin’ birthday party tonight.
We decided it was way too packed to wait, so we knocked some ice cream cones out of some little kid’s hands in anger (kidding!) and drove away, determined to find an alternative place to get some ice cream.
Eventually we stumbled upon Ariel’s Ice Cream and wandered inside.
Not one person in line! (Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, now that I think about it.)
We decided to split a large bowl of cake batter ice cream.
The ice cream didn’t taste anything like cake batter (unlike the fabulous Ben & Jerry’s flavor), but it did taste fantastic. It was full of brownie pieces and had thick fudge ribbons throughout the sweet and creamy ice cream.
There’s nothing like a yummy bowl of ice cream to make you forget about a cruddy hotel buffet dinner!
Time to read The Glass Castle. I’m now halfway through the book and it’s improved a lot in the last hundred pages. (For those of you who have read it, they’re now living in Appalachia and are no longer in the boring dessert. Praise sweet baby Sadie!) I think I’m actually make it through the whole book!

That ice cream looks really good! Self-serve frozen yogurt places are dangerous for me. I always end up filling my cup way too much and it costs me a fortune! 😉

I totally understand the frustration about the long line! I am so bad with places that are packed. I usually leave wanting to stomp and scream like a two year old! Drives me nuts. 🙂

Sorry to hear that you aren’t too into Glass Castle! I absolutely loved that book. I thought it was totally fascinating (if gut-wrenching) that people lived that way and how she got to be who she is now!

YUM! That ice cream looks amazing whether or not it tasted like actual cake. I’m lucky to live in a land of 1,000 fro-yo shops so I always have many options if one is too busy.

My favorite flavor for ice cream is cake batter, but you are SO right with half of the “cake batters” not really tasting so much like cake… It’s more like artificial butter flavor sometimes.
I’m not sure if you have Coldstone Creamery in Florida, but when you come to Phill-ay, you should definitely try to find one! They have this “Birthday Cake Remix” creation and it is seriously the best thing I’ve ever eaten… Actually if you’re in Philly, you should definitely hit up The Franklin Fountain or another Philly ice cream spot. But look for Coldstone near you! There cake batter is the ONLY cake batter I really like. SO good!

looks so good! i have a weakness for ice cream. We have a few really good places here in NYC, but even local markets carry some good brands. Van Leeuwen and Talenti gelati are some of my faves. have you heard of/tried them?

I love ice cream in the summer! Philly has some awesome fro-yo places that I will most definitely hit up next weekend. I love when I can combine a bagillion flavors and mix them all together. I could go for a bowl right now as a matter of fact…
