Well, I now know why she calls it “Mmmm Sauce.”
After reading rave reviews about Mama Pea’s Mmmm Sauce for more than a year now, I finally gave it a go this afternoon.
It was freakin’ awesome. Really, really awesome. (I actually forgot to add the lemon juice and still thought it was great!)
The base of the sauce is raw almonds, chickpeas and oil, but the nutritional yeast and spices (hooray for curry!) really take it to the next level. If you love curry and are in the market for a creamy sauce to put on basically anything savory, you must give it a whirl! (<—Pun intended since you make it in the food processor. Yes, I do reach really far for a punny joke!)
The sauce only calls for 1/4 cup of chickpeas, so after I opened a can and used what I needed for the sauce, I poured the remaining chickpeas into a bowl and topped them with a boatload of mmmm sauce for lunch.
I also had an English muffin on the side and topped one half with peanut butter and unsweetened shredded coconut and the other half with honey and coconut.
And now I’m getting ready to finish up for the day and head out to happy hour with some friends tonight!
Do the Friday dance!
P.S. I’m in the market for a quality, cute windbreaker for an upcoming trip but, as Michelle says, a cute windbreaker is a bit of an oxymoron. If you have any recommendations, please let me know! I’m on the lookout!

Presley @ Run Pretty says
I just made her sauce a few weeks ago. I had it every day for lunch. It was addictive! Emily’s (daily garnish) miso tahini sauce is great, too!

The North Face and Helly Hansen are my go to brands for outdoor gear! Love the idea of the coconut on the muffin!
Natalie @ Free Range Human says
You can’t go wrong with anything from North Face. I’ve had my North Face RDT for two years, and although it’s been on every backpacking trip since, you would think it’s brand new!
Victoria @ Reluctantly Skinny says
Ralph Lauren makes really cute windbreakers and rain coats. I got mine on sale at Lord and Taylor a few years ago and it still looks brand new.

Did you try Target at all? In the sports section, maybe? They usually have some really cute colors and things for jackets/sportswear! I always wanted to try the Mmmm Sauce. It’s on one of the many Pinterest lists.

I have a Patagonia one that I can’t find on their website, which is probably because I got it on clearance at REI. Definitely suggest going to REI for their clearance section or Patagonia! I’m in college so walking to the opposite side of campus has never been a problem with their jackets. It also insulates really well!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I still haven’t tried that sauce, although I’ve been hearing about it forever! I did, however, try the miso tahini sauce from Daily Garnish and I LOVE it!
Caroline @ Capture the Cadence says
Peanut butter & honey are 2 of my favorite things – and unsweetened shredded coconut just became a fav too. What a delicious combo. I think I’ll have that with my evening coffee!
And chickpeas are never ending in my house, so adding another recipe to the cabinet is extremely helpful!
I always get my windbreakers from Nike. They never cease to amaze. Have fun tonight!
Jessica says
What do you plan to put the sauce on/with?
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
Aaaaanaanything!!

Lululemon has some amazing “windbreakers,” but as you know, they can be pricey. I wear my “Dance Studio Jacket” (don’t think thats in stock now but they have other ones) ALL the time though, it was worth the money. And its flippin cute!!
Sierra says
I have a Marmot Precip jacket. Really amazing quality and not thin enough that you get wet when it rains. Pretty cute in my opinion too – two shades of blue!

Is buttload the word of the week now? Sure you can find a great wind breaker at tj maxx will fit right in with your love your 80s style clothes

Really?! Classy comment….not. I just don’t get the point of these stupid comments that I keep seeing more and more of on my favorite blogs. There’s nothing constructive, it’s just bitchy passive aggressive commentary that serves no purpose. If you don’t like the blog, DON’T READ IT. It’s not complicated. I’m fed up with all my favorite bloggers (who feel like friends on some level) censoring everything they write now because they’ve been broken down by the persistent negativity of trolls.
Christine says
I don’t even see buttload in this post….anyway, I agree with another commenter that Old Navy has a grey/pink one right now!
Caitlin says
Anything Patagonia rocks my world! I also have an older North Face climbing jacket that I wear when I run sometimes; it works well. Can’t wait to try the sauce!

It just so happens I work for a very quality apparel brand called Icebreaker! We have a new soft shell/windbreaker that has been really popular. Don’t let the price scare you – it’s worth every penny. 100% New Zealand merino wool that is SUPER durable, breathable, and water repellent.

Also – this jacket has a mesh lining on the body, and the sleeves and hood are lined with a silkier material. The inside of the collar even has a soft, fleecy material so it won’t bother your face.

YUM! That looks like a must try!

Mama Pea is amazing – love her mmm sauce!

Hi Julie, I was just on Neiman Marcus’ Last Call site (they have a huge sale going on right now) and there was the Garment-Dyed Windbreaker by G.E.T. that’s now $29.62. http://www.lastcall.com/ it’s on the clearance page; the direct link filled this entire comment box which I thought looked kind of obnoxious, so I apologize for not including that directly!

Oooh I like it! Thanks!

Hey Julie! I bought a cute and flattering wind breaker from REI last year and I love it. I wore it at the summit of pikes peak in Colorado and it worked really well! I’m not sure what model it is but its the REI brand. I’m sure you could look online and find some cute ones!

Thumb’s up for NorthFace–other options could be TJ Maxx or Marshall’s–I saw a lot of windbreakers at Marshall’s last weekend.
Bek @ Crave says
That lunch looks so good! mmm Curry powder. What’s nutritional yeast? I’ve heard of it but don’t really know much about it and the benefits.
What’s a windbreaker? Yes I realise this comment has me looking like a clueless character haha

Regarding Downton Abbey and M’lady my friend from work and I often refer to each other as my Lady of such and such, and occasionally we even give each other a little curtsy. This actually started when we were watching the Tudors and now it always makes us laugh so we keep it up.
Enjoy your weekend My Lady (said with a curtsy)

Nutritional yeast is my fav new discovery I use it in salad dressing, in a cheese sauce on my pita pizzas and on top of pasta dishes.
Def going to try this sauce 🙂

I have been reading about mmm sauce for so long too but haven’t given it a try yet. I probably should just do it already! I have a hot pink North Face windbreaker and I love it….except, like you, I have a long torso and it is a bit short which is super annoying. I tried on a friend’s Columbia Sportswear windbreaker though and it was longer than the North Face ones.

6pm’s website was just promoting a big north face sale. I bought two jackets for just over $100. The sale may still be on.
