BIG discovery today, guys.
BIG.
Did you know that Starbucks makes a mocha coconut Frappuccino?
Judging by the responses I got to my Tweet about this discovery earlier today, yes you do.
Well, it’s a brand new flavor to me and I am basically in love.
I ordered the light version of the Frappuccino late this afternoon and it tasted like a Caramel Delight Girl Scout cookie… or a Samoa, as some of you say.
Quick poll: Are they Caramel Delights or Samoas to you? Caramel Delights all the way, bay-bay!
After working through the afternoon at Starbucks, I headed downtown for a meeting about an upcoming Orlando tech conference. I felt a little out of my element with all the talk about aps and start up technology businesses, but we’ll see where it goes!
On my way out of the meeting I stopped by Mochi for some fro yo for real reason other than me just wanting the creamy dessert.
If you spend $5 at Mochi downtown you’re supposed to receive validation for parking in the garage. Well, apparently that validation only applies if you’re parked in the garage for under two hours, so I ended up paying $5 for frozen yogurt and paying $16 (YES, SIXTEEN DOLLARS!) for parking.
What a punch in the gut!
I got back to the hotel room in Ocala a little after 8:30 p.m. and am now off to slip into my pajamas and grab something quick to eat for dinner. I missed the hotel buffet (oh darn!), so I’m left to scrounge up a meal from the stuff we have in our fridge. I think that means dinner will be Greek yogurt with banana slices and a whole wheat bagel with peanut butter. That actually sounds delicious right now.
See ya in the morning for Blog Talk Tuesdays!
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
Yow-za … that’s a lot of money for parking!! 🙁
And those cookies are Samoas to me, but I have no idea why I call them that!
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
Caramel Delite!!! Hello fellow Chicago-an! 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
YES! caramel delights forever! i never even knew people called them samoas until ryan said he wanted some samoas when girl scouts were selling cookies outside the grocery store. i was like “what cookies are those!?”
Shari @ Chicago Cuisine Critique says
I have to chime in because clearly I live in Chicago and while I did not grow up here, my boyfriend did. I’m pretty sure he calls them Samoas? Now I HAVE to ask him. I guess it is a location thing.
Lauren says
I love the mocha coconut fraps!! Geez they really get you on parking!
Laura @ prettylittlewords says
Samoas! I’ve never heard them called caramel delights!
Carrie says
I WNT TO TRY THAT ONE!!! so genius of them! next they better come up with a peanut butter one!
peanutbutterfingers says
BEST idea ever. you should email starbucks and campaign!
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
Mmm everything sounds good! haha, even though I haven’t tried caramel delite.
And I think I’ve tried a regular iced coffee with coconut in it! It was pretty good 😀 I shall remake it at home actually. 😛
Julie @ There and Back Again says
Ooh, next time try getting the light frappuccino but still ask for the toppings – they put chocolate shavings and toasted coconut on top! Heaven!
On a different note, I’ve wandered through some of your past posts and you seem to offer great fitness advice for a variety of situations. If you ever do any sort of fitness Q&A again in the future, I was wondering if you could include any thoughts or tips about keeping an effective but varied workout routine without a gym membership or extensive equipment? I just graduated from college and a gym membership is just not in the budget right now. I enjoy running in my neighborhood and also have free hand weights to do a bit of strength training, but I tend to end up doing the same old same old, over and over. I’ve enjoyed your down-to-earth perspective on things in your writing so I thought you might have some interesting thoughts! Thanks!
Catherine 'T' says
I’m sure Julie will answer you more thoroughly, but until them maybe check out bodyrock.tv
Free, intense, friendly…everything you need! Recently stumbled upon it myself, officially obsessed!
Julie @ There and Back Again says
Wow, thank you!! I’d never heard of that before but I just checked out the website and it looks awesome! 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
yeah bodyrock is legit!! i also LOVE circuit workouts for at-home quality routines! you can find a handful on my workout page. i also love the idea of doing a post of “at home” workouts. i’ll definitely add it to my list! thanks!
Catherine 'T' says
They are getting really good at showing modifications and options for beginners such as myself….right now they’re on a Burpee Tour, so there aren’t many new workouts…but really they are a great team and the people on the site are really friendly, which is refreshing! Enjoy!
Catherine 'T' says
I’m old school, they were Jubilees before Carmel delights I believe….scouting is TOtally different now than when I was active 🙁
allison says
love the fraps, but just found out you can also add the coconut syrup to hot mochas – this is awesome!
Mallory @ It's Only Life, After All says
I did know about those! Had one just the other week- delicious!
To me, they have been Samoas. My all-time favorite girl scout cookie!
Hillary says
Samoas forever.
And that frappucino is like heaven to me. Yum.
Lindsey says
Those are the best fraps!
Bri @ Fashion Snack says
I’ve never tried the mocha coconut frap but I LOVE the coconut frap. So good!
PS – I love your blog! It’s one of the few that I read daily but now that I’ve started my own, I hope to start reading more!
Katherine says
mocha coconut fraps are AMAZING!
Abby @ Abz 'n' Oats says
I have heard of the mocha coconut frap but I haven’t tried it. The cookies were called Samoas when I was in Girl Scouts and actually selling cookies but over the last few years I have only seen them as Caramel Delights as well. It seems like a lot of the names are different than they were when I was selling cookies!
Amanda @ Running On Waffles says
Those are DEFINITELY Samoas!!!! And now I may need to go try that frap! YUM!!!!
Laura (On the Threshold of Greatness) says
I saw Starbucks was bringing those back! I worked there during college (2002 – 2004) and we sold them then…. I gained 20 lbs as a Starbucks barista, probably all mocha coconut weight, haha. 😉 I have resisted getting one this year, but I just might before summer ends!
On another note, I had 2 somoas from the freezer with dinner tonight. Bangin.
Shari @ Chicago Cuisine Critique says
Well I for one have never heard of this flavor, sounds delightful. And, it’s definitely samoa. I never knew there was a difference? Is it a location thing?
Cait @ Cait hates Cake says
The lot across the street from my office in downtown Chicago is $29 for 2 hours. Robbery!
Emily says
I hear ya. I just paid $40 in Boston for 3 hours.
Mmmm Samoas!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Starbucks is amazing, they are always coming up with something new and delicious. My friend tried their new lunch boxes last week and said it was really good!
Savannah (sweet and savvy) says
I didn’t know they made those frapps! ! And that’s ridiculous with the parking price!
Alaina says
I love that flavor!! All it needs is a bit of almond flavor and you’ve got yourself an almond joy! 🙂
Sarah says
FroYo looks SO yummy right now!
Definitely Samoas! When they changed the name, the little girl in my heart died…
Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance says
16 dollars for parking!? That is insane!
Leave it to downtown Orlando to get you every time 🙁
Jessica @ Sushi and Sit-Ups says
Ugh, parking in The Plaza in downtown Orlando is the worse. That parking garage stresses me out enough on its own, then you always have to pay so much! How did I not know Starbucks has coconut flavor? I need to try it!
peanutbutterfingers says
i knoooow. i HATE that parking garage. it’s the second time i’ve parked there ever and it gives me anxiety.
Hannah says
Samoas!!!!
Brittany @ Life of a Bama Girl says
Caramel Delights for sure!!! But I always liked the peanut butter patties the best!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
Samoas for sure!!!
I am sorry about the parking thing, what a bummer 🙁
Tara @ Chip Chip Hooray says
Samoas, forever and always!! Except for then I went to college outside of Philadelphia and was informed that all of my new Philly-area friends only knew them as Caramel Delites. Whaaaat? Crazy. 🙂
Amanda says
Definitely call them caramel delights! Btw do you watch the Batchelor Pad?
peanutbutterfingers says
watching it right now! loving how sassy chris harrison totally put vienna in her place tonight!
Amanda says
oh I was just yelling at the TV during that part….loved it!! I’m not a Vienna fan at all!
Stephanie says
My husband is in LOVE with the mocha coconut (or as I call it, mocha-nut) frap! It’s way too sweet for my taste, but to each his/her own 🙂
Siena says
I really want to try the Mocha-Coconut-Frappuccino..It dosent seem like it goes together but some things like that end up being amazing! Next trip to starbucks I am trying this drink for sure!
Sana says
Girll you are few months late to the partyyy!!!!! mocha coconut Frappuccino is do bomb diggity!
Rachel @ A Little Ray of Sunshine says
Samoas all the way, they are sooo yummy. Edy’s makes a limited edition Samoas ice cream…it is oh so good, but dangerous!
Liz says
I was always a caramel delite person, but then Edy’s started making Samoas ice cream (as amazing as it sounds) which eventually converted me. I like to think I’m bilingual in gs cookie names 🙂
Julie @ Sugarfoot Eats says
I will always call them Caramel Delights!!!
Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life says
I have yet to try that variety of frap, but it definitely does sound delicious!
On another note…it’s totally a Samoa 😉
Mimi says
Ahem… That, my friend, is a Samoa.
Jordan @ food, sweat, and beers says
Did you know that caramel delights/samoas are responsible for 19% of all Girl Scout Cookie sales?
Trefoils, the worst of all continued cookies, are only 9%.
HA, Trefoils, call me back when you’ve covered yourself in some chocolate, caramel, mint, or coconut.
peanutbutterfingers says
no way!! that’s insane. well, they are delicious, so i guess it makes sense!
Michelle @ Crazy*Running*Legs says
Mocha + coconut = amazing. I usually cut down on the amount they put in though (in a Venti/Large you get 5 pumps of mocha and 5 pumps of coconut — holy sugar!!).
I’m not a huge fan of either by itself — but combined they are like a party in my mouth.
Sorry about the parking – that sucks!!
Carolyn says
You should try making these! I don’t like coffee but they always look so good to me…

Tabaitha says
First, Hi! I started reading your blog last week and love it. Thanks to Janae at Hungry Girl for having you as a guest host, because like I said I love your blog.
Second, Mocha Cocunut Fraps are so delicious. I have also tried their Coconut & Cream which is coffee free. I try to stick to those while pregnant.
Third, there is a local bakery in my city that makes Samoa cupcakes and they are my all time favorites.
peanutbutterfingers says
thanks so much for commenting, tabaitha! i’m so glad you found me. and now i want one of those cupcakes!
Elizabeth says
YOU MUST try the Keebler brand knockoff! NOt bad and more than 12 in a box. !
chelsea says
Caramel Delights! I love me some girl scout cookies =D
Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy says
I always get a soy coffee frappuccino, but the mocha coconut one sounds really good!
Laura (Cookies vs. Carrots) says
Definitely Samoas!
I always get a White Chocolate Mocha, but I may have to mix things up and try that frapp!
Sylvia @ Frolic Through Life says
When I was a girl scout they were called Samoas!
Christi says
Samoas! Maybe Samoas are more of a “west coast” name and Caramel Delights are more of an “east coast” name? Either way, they are amazing 🙂
Ashley@MyFoodNFitnessDiaries says
I think I’ll be making a trip to Starbucks to try this coconut mocha frappucinno deliciousness you discovered!! Sounds fantastic.
I’ve always known them as Samoas… did they change the name? Or are they just known as a different name in different areas? Interesting!
peanutbutterfingers says
i think they’re called different things geographically!
Lauren @ Fun, Fit and Fabulous! says
That is a new flavor for me and it sounds AMAZING! I am so sorry about the parking that stinks! I think it’s crazy how much they jack up partking!! Annoying!
