Yesterday evening we arrived in St. Pete around 6:30 p.m.
I had just enough time to shower (much needed!) before we all sat down to a family dinner.
BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, homemade soup and roasted rosemary potatoes were enjoyed by all!
Dinner was excellent, but dessert was excellenter.
Yes, excellenter. It was worthy of a made up word.
That little beauty is called Moose Tracks pie and is made by crushing 1/2 package of Oreos for the crust, layering Moose Tracks ice cream on top and then topping it all with Cool Whip.
It is a winner! And I ate about a bazillion pieces.
We all sat around the table talking for a while before my dad and Ryan went off to bed and just my mom, sister and I remained. Gotta love hours and hours of late night girl talk!
Breakfast
This morning I awoke feeling not hungry at all. Weird.
Still, I knew I had to eat something, so I assembled a yogurt bowl with Oikos caramel Greek yogurt, multigrain Cheerious and fresh berries.
Eating a little something apparently revved my appetite, because I then ate a big spoonful of almond butter and some pretzel crisps with Nutella. I am always so snacky at my parents’ house!
Now it’s time to change into some workout gear.
My mom, sister and I are off to double header Jazzercise and Zumba classes! My mom is a big fan of both here in St. Pete and recruited us to join her in back-to-back classes. Should be a fun Saturday morning!
Ohhh my gosh… that pie!! We made something similar when I was growing up out of Oreos called dirt pudding. It was SO good.
That pie looks incredible! I’ve never heard of anything like it before. I’ll have to try it sometime!
PS – Your family dinners are so adorable! I love reading your posts when you visit your parent’s house!
my mom is ALL about random desserts. this one was a winner! definitely worth a go!
That pie sounds incredible! Imagine the variations you could do with other types of ice cream! If I were you I’d have skipped the yogurt and eaten more pie for breakfast 🙂
It’s practically an ice cream cake with oreos!
I’m hyperventilating.
this made me laugh out loud!
That pie sounds delicious! That’s so cute that you girls go work out together! It sure makes the time past by faster.
I woke up starving this morning even after a big dinner last night. It’s funny how that works!
What a great way to spend the day!
That pie looks fantastic! 🙂 mm mm! 🙂
Anything with Oreos MUST be excellent! If I’m not hungry around meal time I always find eating something small revs up my appetite. Its like my stomach falls asleep/get lazy so I give it a little nudge 🙂
Nutella and pretzels 🙂 winning combo! love the new word too btw!!
That pie looks awesome!! And I’m always “snacky” at my mom’s house, too. There’s something about being home that = eating!
Wow the pie looks awesome!!
It’s great you can go to the gym with your mom, funny and it’s great to spend time with your family. Don’t worry, I’m always snacky and even more at my parents’! But it’s because you feel well when you are with them.
Forget the pie, I want the soup recipe. It looks healthy and comforting. Yum!
THat pie looks amazingg! I love anything with oreos! Have fun at your classes,:)
My mom LOVES jazzercise too!! Enjoy the day with your mom!!
Oh I love cakes with ice cream….it makes the dessert worth it!!
HAVE fun at Zumba! I am off to teach it, actually 🙂
Oh wow, that pie looks amazing! I’m not really into Oreos though, I think it’s an American thing 😉
Enjoy Zumba!
The pie sounds so easy to make! I’m having a girl’s night this evening and I’m going to serve moose track pie. Thanks for the brilliant idea!
Also, good luck with the move and try not to be too stressed. Last year I moved from Toronto to Vancouver and I just wanted everything to be in order right away. Now I realize that I should have just slowed down and taken a breath because everything has a way of falling in to place.
That pie sounds awesome!! I lurve me some Oreos. I would have had more for breakfast 🙂
Excellenter? Haha love it. That soup looks yummy too!! More up my alley than even the pie, honestly.
Have fun at Jazzercise- i can’t wait to hear a recap of that!
Looks amazing! What exactly IS jazzercise? I’ve done zumba but haven’t even heard or seen too much about jazzercise!
it’s basically like a throw back aerobics class. dancing and jumping around and basically looking totally uncool. it’s a blast!
THe soup looks like it is truly something I would be crazy about, don’t worry the pie does too! …..GIRL TALK!! <3
Have fun at class! Get 'er done! Ha!
Back-to-back Zumba and Jazzercise sounds like a dance party if you ask me! Have a great time! 🙂
I’m also very snacky when I visit my Mom too! I think it’s some sort of comfort eating maybe : )
I always check all her cabinets regardless if i’m hungry or not.
That’s so cool you’re all exercising together this morning 😉 The thought of my mom doing Zumba makes me laugh!
Mmmm! That moose tracks pie looks like my DREAM dessert!
Yay for Jazzercise! My mom still loves taking those classes and back in the day, about 10 years ago, that was the first ever group exercise class I ever took. Its a great workout! Have fun 🙂
That pie looks amazing. At least you are working it all off at the gym. You are always so good with the balance. 🙂
It always looks like you have such yummy meals at your parents’ house!
That pie looks awesome!! Side question: Have you ever been to The Columbia restaurant? I think there’s a location in St.Pete’s otherwise there are other locations in Florida. The restaurant is over 100 years old and the food is Spanish inspired. I highly suggest it!!!
yes!! love that place! their sangria is the jam.
wow, definitely need to try to recreate that moose-tracks pie for myself! perhaps i’ll even share with my family…!!
have tons of fun at the dance classes this morning! i love me some zumba 🙂
That pie looks excellentest!!
I used to jazzercise in 80s gear on a regular base.
I need to bring that back into my life.
I always snack at my mom’s too! I go over just to let the dog out and I always end up skimming through her cupboards looking for a snack…I don’t know why!
Did you wear a sweet 80’s headband to Jazzercise? Rock it.
of course. and a scrunchie. 🙂
I’m not sure what looks better, the pie or the soup! Ok, who am I kidding…
Ok…that pie looks to die for! Any chance we could get that soup recipe? It looks fantastic!!!!
yes! i’ll ask her!
That pie looks amazing!! And so do those raspberries.
That pie looks and sound delicious!! Family work-out sessions are always so fun!
I second the request for the soup recipe!!! It looks delicious.
That pie looks fabulous! I agree with the request for the soup! It looks amazing!
I want that pie for Breakfast!!!
oh man that pie looks sooo good – kind of like “dirt pie” i used to make with oreos 🙂
The pie looks excellent. I’m going to make it this weekend. I’m sure the boys will love it…and me too.
if they love oreos, they’ll love the pie!
Omg your mom’s table setting is so adorable! I love seeing pictures of when you visit home 🙂 I love how everyone has their respective tumblers in front of their plates too, soooo cute! And wow that pie looks amazing!!
It’s a shame desserts aren’t good for you. I could eat them all day…especially ice cream!
I totally feel you one the sneaking food at the parents house…I had to come home this weekend to visit my parents, and have officially ate a 1/2 a gallon of their own homemade butter pecan icecream and a tub of their cottage cheese (they will be slightly disappointed when they go the freezer for ice cream, and upset tomorrow afternoon when they want cottage cheese for typical Summer sunday after church lunch of grilled burgers, baked beans, and cottage cheese….weird how home makes you feel more comfortable and long for the food that brings you back to your childhood
Why is everything with oreos and ice cream so amazing! Have a wonderful day with your family!
I SO wish I had some of that cake right now.
i always snack way more at my parents’ house too! I’m over there today and was just thinking about how much I’ve snacked it up!
Yep, uh huh, the soup and dessert look amazing!! So delicious. 🙂
SouN
Wow, my puppy just stepped on my keyboard and sent this. :/ Thanks Dobby.
