I always enjoy putting together gift guides to share with you guys despite the fact that they take me an incredibly long time to pull together. I am very picky with the items I include and never feature anything I wouldn’t purchase myself for my mom, mother-in-law or a mother-figure in my life. For this year’s gift guide, I included a random assortment of gift ideas but also stuck to a bit of a theme for some of them. With spring in full swing and Mother’s Day occurring right before the heat of the summer sets in, I thought assembling a beach bag filled with updated pool and beach items might be a welcomed gift, so you’ll see a lot of summery items in my gift guide this year.
Please feel free to chime in and share some of your favorite gift ideas with me below so we can all benefit from each other as we set out to celebrate the mothers and mother-figures in our lives!
Mother’s Day Gift Guide
O-Venture Key Rings popped up in a past Things I’m Loving Friday feature for good reason. Aside from being beautiful, these key rings are so darn practical and handy. Simply slipping the key ring around your wrist frees up both hands which I’m pretty sure moms need at all times when they’re out and about with kids in tow. The key rings are available in a myriad of colors and patterns. I have the rose gold leather and absolutely love it!

New Beach Towel
I feel like everyone has an assortment of beach towels in their hall closets but I’m also pretty certain that the majority of the towels in most closets are well-worn. I was given a beautiful tassel beach towel last year and was honestly surprised by how much I loved this gift because it was a high-quality towel and the design of the towel felt personal (a soft pale pink with tassels = very me)!
TJMaxx and Marshalls are great go-to spots for beach towels at reasonable prices but I also found a few more elevated towel options out there for those who might be looking to spoil Mom a bit with something a little more unique: Fringe Beach Towel / Lemon Towel / Stripe-Dye Beach Towel / Round Watermelon Towel
And if you want to jump on board the beach/pool blanket trend, here are a few affordable options: Turkish Pestemal Towel Blanket / Turkish Beach Blanket / Round Gypsy Fringe Beach Towel Blanket / Aqua Stripe Beach Towel

Summery Pajamas + Silk Pillowcase
Bring on the comfy warm-weather pajamas! I have and love this shorts version of the Nordstrom pajamas everyone is obsessed with and they’re incredibly soft and comfy. I cannot recommend them enough and they’re also now available with some feminine lace detailing and in a sleeveless version as well. And you can never go wrong with Gap’s modal pajamas for the softest fabric ever. I LOVE their joggers and sleep shorts! If a lightweight robe is on your gift-giving list, I cannot recommend Eberjey’s soft, breezy robes enough. They’re admittedly a bit of a splurge but I live in mine during the warmer months and bought one for my sister after my niece was born as well since she lives in Florida and heavyweight robes don’t get as much use down there.
As an added bonus, pair the pajamas with a silk pillowcase! Silk pillowcases get a lot of hype these days for everything from reducing fine lines, breakouts and facial wrinkles (yes, really!) to helping reduce friction between your skin and hair against the pillow, equating to less breakage and split ends. I have this one (900+ great reviews and way more affordable than most silk pillowcases on the market) and love it!

New Sandals + A Pedicure
I love giving an experience gift along with something that goes along with the experience like a pedicure and a new pair of sandals to show off those freshly painted toes! Pick up a gift card for a pedicure at a favorite local salon and wrap it up with some summery sandals like these Ruffle Strap Sandals (I just ordered this pair last week!) / Birkenstock Slides / Havaianas Fip Flops (I’ve had mine since college — clearly they hold up well!) / Travor Slide Sandal (so classy and tons of colors/patterns available) / Bow Slides (the mustard yellow is calling to me) / Fringe Platform Sandal (loving the fringe trend lately!)

Beach Tote + Cover-Up + Wet Swimsuit Bag
I love the idea of filling a new beach tote with summer goodies (a towel, a pair of flip flops, bright nail polish as a fun Monther’s Day surprise. There’s no shortage of adorable beach totes out there these days and here are a few that I have or that caught my eye: Woven Straw Beach Tote / Straw Circle Tote (I have this one in rust and love the unique shape and vibrant color) / Woven Beach Tote (love the different patterns and you can’t beat the price on this one) / Mar y Sol Tote Bag / Rainbow Pom Tote
As a bonus, I love the idea of including one of those adorable wet swimsuit bags inside the tote for wet bathing suits as well as a crochet cover-up (or these awesome cover-up culotte pants) and some sunscreen for an added surprise.

Hair Scarf / Hair Accessories / Floppy Beach Hat
I wear my hair up most days of the week so I absolutely love the fact that hair scarves and fun hair accessories are in style these days. If there’s a mother figure in your life who always rocks a ponytail or a top knot, some hair accessories might be appreciated. My go-to shops for hair accessories are Anthropologie, Francesca’s and American Eagle/Aerie. Pretty much every hair scarf, headband and scrunchie I own is from Francesca’s, Anthroplogie or American Eagle and they’re always coming out with new designs. For the fitness-minded moms, headbands to wear during a workout are another great gift idea. And if headbands and scarves aren’t her thing, maybe a floppy beach hat or a new baseball hat?

One Bouquet a Month from Bouqs
Ryan surprised me with a year of bouquets from Bouqs for my birthday this year and it made me smile so big! A bouquet showed up at our door the day before my birthday and his note said he hoped that I’d smile all year long whenever a new bouquet was delivered to our door. It’s a gift that keeps on giving and also a wonderful gift idea for the hard-to-shop-for moms in our lives!

I actually got both my mom and my MIL one of those key ring things. 🙂 I found two on major sale at a Lily Pulitzer in Kennebunk and scooped them up! I know people who rave about them! I’m pairing them with a pedicure gift certificate and key embroidered shirts with their grandma names and the names of their grandkids. 🙂

My favorite mother’s day gifts are handmade cards, handmade gifts, flowers from Kroger( they have the best flowers for reasonable price!) and just spending time as a family outside and playing games.

This is such a great list Julie! Definitely can tell the amount of time and effort you put into it and I appreciate your additional notes and descriptions. My siblings and I are always scrambling last minute for Mother’s Day gifts and this is definitely going to help us out! Also might snag some of those sandals for myself.. 🙂

Doesn’t Mother’s Day always sneak up on you!? I finally feel “on the ball” this year and ordered my mom something from Etsy I’m so excited about — now I just have to cross my fingers it arrives in time!

Perfect timing in posting this! I was just looking through what seemed to be every Mother’s Day gift section online and was overwhelmed by all of the options out there! I love your list though 🙂 Now I am leaning towards getting my mom some new sandals and a pedicure!
