Would you like a little glimpse into the shenanigans that occur at our house on a nightly basis?
As I was putting on my gym shoes to get ready to head out for an evening walk with Ryan and Sadie yesterday, I walked into the room where I heard Ryan and Sadie playing.
Ryan looked up at me from the floor, his eyes beaming, saying he wanted to show me his latest game with Sadie where he had her running under a “bridge.”
A bridge?
Bridge = Ryan’s legs
They’re quite the duo.
I promise she doesn’t have rabies.
Workout
This morning I was pretty pumped to try a new workout. The workout assigned for today through the boot camp program I’m following was a circuit workout that included a lot of core and plyometric movements.
I wrote the circuit down to take with me to the gym and didn’t realize I was supposed to do it three times through. When I finished the circuit in 15 minutes, I had a feeling something was up and used my phone to look up the workout again.
My mistake!
I busted out the remaining two sets and they kicked my butt, but I loved the workout! It was definitely my favorite boot camp workout so far. The circuit was challenging, fast-paced and didn’t leave any room for boredom.
Plus I got to bear crawl all over the gym looking like a toolbag.

Breakfast
Breakfast this morning was another batch of overnight oats!
Like yesterday’s granola overnight oats, this batch was a little special, too!
I used Muesli Fusion Classic Swiss muesli as the base rather than plain oats and absolutely loved it.
The company sent me a few bags of their all-natural, organic muesli yesterday and I couldn’t wait to use it for breakfast this morning.
Just in case you’re in the dark about muesli, according to Muesli Fusion, it is a cereal made with a base of oats and whole grains mixed with variety of ingredients including nuts, seeds, dried fruits and sweets. Muesli can be consumed in many different ways. It can be soaked in milk, water, or juice and eaten cold or it can be cooked in boiling water or milk and eaten like traditional oatmeal.
I combined the muesli with a cup of strawberry banana Greek yogurt, chia seeds and milk. This morning I added two chopped dates on top and dug in!
Oatmeal that incorporates a ton of fun, natural ingredients is always a blast to eat. I loved the inclusion of raisins, cranberries and almonds in the muesli and have a feeling this breakfast is going to have some serious staying power.
Time to answer some emails before heading out to the office of one of my local freelance clients. It’s kind of funny to work remotely for certain magazines and businesses and have no idea what the their office environments are like! Should be fun to see!

I just love that Sadie! Her energy reminds me a lot of my terrier mix. I’m gonna try that bridge with him later 🙂
I tried Museli a couple of months ago and I loved it! I soaked it in soy milk overnight. I don’t know why I haven’t had it since. I completely forgot until you posted about it today. 🙂 Have a great Friday!
That muesli mix looks yummy! I’ve actually never had muesli before, I’m thinking I’m going to try some soon though! Happy Friday!
Woww the museli looks delish. Makes me want my own for breakfast…
Or my own dog to play bridge games with 🙂
I decided to make today my rest day and do workout C sunday since I want to try and squeeze in a long run tomorrow, but I did 1 circuit of it this morning to get me going since I’ll be on a plane today and it took forever! Haha I’m glad I went through it once because not I know to make sure I have time for it!
For a second I thought your dates were toffee..and now all of the sudden, I’m dying for a health bar!
oh man, i wish.
Muesli was huge when I was in South Africa they always ate it. I bet it would make great cookies!
I can’t wait to do the bootcamp workout later! I’m getting my stitch out later and then I’m heading straight to the gym :D. If Chris and I had a dog, I have a feeling I would find him playing with it like that all the time haha. Hope you have a great day Julie!
agreed! I was just gonna comment that same thing! It looks sort of just like him!
At first glance I thought that model pic with the white background was of Ryan, haha.
LOL!
Same! haha
I love using muesli for overnight oats. My favorite brand is Bob’s Red Mill, which has a great mix of ingredients. I think there may even be some sunflower seeds in the mix (I think??) which gives it a nice crunch!
I did one of Tina’s workouts once that included the bear crawl and let’s just say that I was very glad my gym is my basement that day! Total toolbag. haha!
Muesli reminds me of when I was in Denmark – that’s all they eat over there in Scandinavia! Definitely an adjustment, but I love it now
Hey Julie! I’m doing the bootcamp, too. On one of the few occurrences that I’ve blogged (in the middle of midterms but spring break is next week so woo!), I mentioned that you were the reason I signed up for it in the first place! I did your 50 min (15,30,50) treadmill workout on T/Th and loved it! Thanks for kicking my butt! And also… I’ve never done Turkish Get Ups before. What weight do you use? I’ve watched the videos a 1000 times and decide because they’re either 25+ lbs… Or humans.
so fun!! i ended up keeping it really light and only used 5 lbs. because they were a brand new move for me and i wanted to make sure my form looked okay. i’m thinking next week i may try 10 – 12 lbs.?
Hah.. I look like a tool bag each and every time I go to the gym. I’m convinced it is essential for a good workout 😉 The other day while going jump squats one of the dudes that we are friendly with came over to tell us that he was struggling to finish the last few reps of cable cross-overs when he saw our ponytails bouncing up and down. “If you girls can jump around like that I can do 2 more reps!” It made me smile 🙂
I have never had meusli before, but it looks good! Sadie is so cute – she’s such a playful dog.
I started reading the Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes last night, and I couldn’t put it down!! I read over half the book and stayed up until midnight! Great choice!
i started it last night, too! it’s already intense!
my husband is always coming up with more “games” to play with our dogs too. there’s lots of shenanigans that take place on a daily basis in our house. haha.
i’ve never heard of muesli before! it sure does sound tasty and filling!
Yummm I love muesli but haven’t had it in far too long. Sounds like you had a great workout – and that whole bear crawl thing… I’m always too embarrassed to do it in the gym so I tend to save that move for home! Have a fabulous weekend Julie!
I’ve always eaten muesli growing up and I just thought it was a type of boxed cereal. Who knew it could be eaten hot!
“looking like a toolbag” – bahahah!
Yes, haha, thank you Tina for making us all look like goofballs scrounging for food off the floor at the gym.
It’s a good thing I love you. 😉 xoxo
I ate muesli every morning during my short exchange in Germany, and I looked forward to it every night!
I really love your idea of using muesli or granola for overnight oats! I think I would like that better than the regular kind. For some reason I’m not the biggest fan of regular overnight oats.
Breakfast looks super yum! I’ll have to try the bridge game with my puppy 🙂
I love your idea of adding a chopped date on top of the muesli – looks delicious! The bridge trick is hilarious 🙂
Yumm! the Muesli looks so good. To bad hardly any of the companies you feature ship to Canada :(.
Those look like coconut rolled date bites on top! have you ever tried those! (wait, I think I remember you saying you tried those at the expo or on your beach trip or something?)
I can only imagine Ryan and Sadie *practicing* the bridge trick when you are not at home! Ha ha …..this is totally what my hubby would do if he is alone with our dog! 🙂 These pix made my morning! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Today’s workout was probably my favorite, too! Seriously, I know what you mean about feeling like a toolbag. I’m sure I made a complete and utter fool of myself doing those darn bear crawls today, but hey, it was worth it. 😉
haha i just love sadies little face!!
I always think Sadie is big, but she looks so tiny under Ryan’s legs! Can’t get enough of her on the blog hehe.
I always feel like a tool doing burpees at the gym. Like people are watching me struggle and thinking what the heck is this girl doing? Bear crawling may take the cake though ha!
TGIF 😀
ive never tried muesli but it looks interesting, yum!
I got a kick out of the beginning of your post because a few weeks ago my boyfriend did the exact some thing and just HAD to show me his new trick with my dog – the same trick you just mentioned 🙂
For a second I thought that move was mountain climbers-. I did a circuit workout this morning too- kicked my bootay!
Girl–that looks delicious. I’ve done that before with muesili–I really like Bob’s Red Mill brand mixed with cherry pomegranite GY. Have you noticed I cannot spell? And your passport photo is beautiful! Did you know that pic of my daughter was from me? I use two different email accounts 🙂 e
My boyfriend is always making up funny games to play with my dog, Meeko. His favorite is called the “turkey game” which involves saying “gobble gobble gobble” while trying to grab meeko’s ears and tail… Don’t ask me, I don’t understand either 🙂
I have a 5-month-old dachshund mix puppy and I swear she gets rabies on a nightly basis! All of a sudden she’ll start running around our family room like her butt is on fire and nip at my toes whenever she passes me.
I’ve been a long time reader, but this is my first time commenting!! I’m doing bootcamp too. I had to do workout c yesterday because of my schedule but holy crap…my shoulders are mad at me this morning! So far it’s been my favorite! It took me 45 minutes to finish but time flew by! I didn’t have the energy to do 20 minutes of cardio though =[ Oh well
Mmmm love muesli! What a good combo with oats. Sounds delicious.
I love bootcamp style workouts too–gets the sweat dripping and the heart pumping!
When I was in Scotland last May I had muesli for breakfast nearly every morning. Complimentary hostel breakfasts aren’t exactly up to Hampton Inn levels, so muesli became my go-to thing. I loved drowning it in milk. So good!
I never really knew what Meusli was, but the past 5 months I have been abroad, and apparently it is a very big thing in Australia and the UK. To me it seems like a combination of cereal, oats, granola, dried fruit, and nuts. It seems like it would be an easy thing to make a big batch of to have ready for quick breakfasts in the morning! 🙂
Sadie is so funny!!!
And I LOVE that it’s getting warm enough for overnight oats!
Have fun at the office! My office has several freelance writers, and I think they’re always a little suprised at how laid-back we are when they come visit!
I love muesli! The pictures of Sadie always crack me up!
The chopped dates first looked like pieces of tootsie rolls all over your oats. I got so excited! 😉
Haha Sadie and Ryan are too cute- they really are like best buds! And now you’ve got me intrigued my museli! When I lived in London one of my roommates always ate it but I never really tried it! It looks really good though and delicious texture in overnight oats!
That oatmeal sounds heavenly! Adding it to my list of foods to try.
Please let me know how long it took before you were hungry again.
That breakfast looks delicious! I just found a recipe to make muesli I think I am going to try it this weekend! Hope you have a wonderful day!
Lol, I’d love to see someone bear crawl across the gym (probably won’t happen for me anymore since we set up a home gym now!). Although the gym I used to was so small that I’d have to be careful not to run into everything when I did walking lunges!
Never had muesli, looks just like oats with add ins…so i guess that makes it a little easier.
Sadie remind me of my dog. He is a 7 year old lab mix and stil has the energy of a 6 month old puppy. Hes still a skinny little guy too!
My dog Lucy likes to go “under the bridge” to comfort herself. I’ll be sitting on the couch and she will put her head under my knee as the signal to let her through. Going “under the bridge” is always interesting and funny if I’m laying on the ground with my knees propped up. Could she be part cat? Although she seems to be soothing herself, this little extra attention always seems to comfort me too.
Yes, I love making muesli for breakfast. Taste really good!
