Yep, I think that’s all you missed.
Workout
Today’s workout began as all Monday morning workouts do around here: With a BodyPump class!
Prior to the class, I completed 20 minutes of cardio on the treadmill beside Ryan (15 min. incline walking, 5 min. jogging) and then felt the burn in my muscles for a good 45 minutes. I think my favorite tracks in BodyPump are the bicep and shoulder tracks. They’re always killer… in a good way!
Breakfast
After the gym, I took Sadie on a walk while chatting with my friend Merri on the phone. I miss our morning walks! She’s off in New York now like a real grown up and I think there’s a serious void in Sadie’s heart now that she’s gone. Sadie would whimper and pee herself every time she saw Merri! Her move has been hard on our whole family.
When my virtual walk with Merri and real-life walk with Sadie was complete, it was time for breakfast!
One meal I didn’t want for breakfast was a cheese and jam sandwich. Shocking, I know! After eating that particular meal for four meals in the past two days, I’m a little jammed out. Maybe for lunch today?
At the gym this morning, I watched the weather forecast on the news, which said, in big bold words, “A Hot One.” Today’s temperatures are supposed to reach 95 degrees, so I figured I’d get a jump start on beating the heat with a cold smoothie.
In the mix:
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1 1/2 tbsp. cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 c. almond milk
- 1 tbsp. almond butter
- 1 pinch xanthan gum
- 1 handful fresh spinach
So refreshing!
My New Voice
Ryan and I are pretty good road trip buddies. Sure, I pass out from time to time due to my severe highway hypnosis, but when I’m awake we have a great time playing all sorts of car games like the game of threes, 20 questions and more. Yesterday, on our road trip home from Jekyll Island, we posed many different questions to each other, with one being, “If you could have any person’s singing voice, whose voice would you want?”
I suggested Michael Bublé as the voice Ryan should choose, and he quickly agreed. That man has the voice of a crystal-clear angel and sang the song we chose as our first dance song at our wedding. An easy pick!
Selecting the woman’s voice I would want was a little harder. There are so many amazingly talented women singers out there from Celine Dion to Mariah Carey to Christina Aguilera.
But then I remembered my girl.
Miss Whitney Houston!
I’ll take her voice, puh-lease. And all of her amazing songs, too. There’s no topping “I’m Every Woman” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” I remember when my grandparents gave me my first boom box for Christmas. I had the Bodyguard soundtrack and would listen to Whitney non-stop. She’s so incredible and her voice is clear, emotional, powerful and moving. I’ll take it!
Question of the Day
If you could have one singer’s voice, whose voice would you most like to have? Which male singer do you think has the best voice these days?
Dawn @ Blonde on a Mission says
I would want Rachel Berry’s voice from Glee. I think she’s such an incredible singer! And best male singer is still Michael Buble in my opinion. I have all his albums, but I’m also very partial to Blake Shelton, who has an amazing voice for country music.
peanutbutterfingers says
i love her voice, too! i also told ryan i want to sing like elfaba from wicked. 🙂
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
ohh good question! I actually LOVE vicki martinez’s voice from “the voice” male I’m not sure!
Hope you have a great day! 🙂
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, and Beers says
I love that song. Now I’m going to sing “I wanna dance with somebody..” all day long (hopefully not out loud – coworkers may not like that).
I wish I had Carrie Underwood or Mariah Carrey’s voice. As for dude voices – ummm… hard to say. I think that Incubus guy is pretty good, I suppose.
Happy Monday!
Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life) says
I love Buble!! He was our first dance song, too… and in concert, he’s unbelievable. If I wasn’t already married to the man of my dreams… 😉
I might choose Mariah Carey. She’s a cheese ball, but sings like a baby angel!
Jen from The Paper Pod says
If I could have anyone’s voice it would be Whitney’s too! When I was 5, she was definetly my idol. I’ll always have love for her.
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I saw Glee on tour this weekend, and I’d totally pick Lea Michele!
Liv @ The Salty n' Sweet says
I would love to have Beyonce’s singing voice. I’m a classical singer myself, and I think she has the most amazing voice in the singer. And she’s HOT!
Lindsay@InSweetnessandInHealth says
I’m thinking maybe Carrie Underwood, but without the country twang…as for guys, I love Matthew Morrison from Glee. Have you ever listened to the Hairspray musical soundtrack? It’s AMAZING and he was one of the original characters 🙂
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Haha! I’m now singing “I wanna dance with somebody” in my head.
Claire says
Female voice: Adelle or Faith Hill. Have you heard Adelle’s “Rollin in the Deep”?
* I think Michael Buble has the all-time best male voice out there! I was listening to his music last night at a winery I went to, and it just resonated throughout so crystal clear…magic 🙂
Hillary says
Right now, I’m pretty obsessed with Adele and every time I listen to her CD, I wish I sounded as raw and emotional as she does. She just blows me away!
If my BF had the voice of Darren Criss (from Glee), I would be in heaven.
Allison @ Happy Tales says
Oh my heavens — I LOVE Adele! Her voice is just so powerful!
Stephanie Clement says
ADELE!!!! (Make You Feel My Love will be my wedding song on July 2nd!!!!)
Jessica @brighteyesandbushytales says
Definitely Carri Underwood! She could sing the ABC’s and i would still have goosebumps.
Faith @ lovelyascharged says
I’d pick Haley Williams from Paramore. Partially because I have the hugest girl crush on her (hence my dog’s name!) 😉 but also because I was once told I actually do sound like her – and I was incredibly flattered!
Brittany says
Following the recent trend and saying Adele. Love her. Love love love. My boyfriend makes fun of me when I sing because I “think I sound just like them….” No reservations.
Also, my bf hates (with a burning passion) Michael Buble… however he LOVES James Blunt. I can’t even begin to understand this…
Katie says
I love Adele’s voice! It has so much character and is so distinctive.
Guy’s voice is tough! Maybe Ryan Adams?
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
I’d choose Mariah Carey ONLY because I want to sing “Baby all I want for Christmas is you”. Seriously.
Leanne @ The Skinny Architect says
I just saw Michael on Friday (his voice is pure heaven!).
If I could choose anyone’s voice I think I would choose Adele. I love her soulful rhythms, so unlike anyone else.
Melissa says
I think I would choose Sara Bareilles just because I saw her in concert and she is amazingly talented and just so cool. She comes out on stage and you’re like, “Wow, I want to hang out with her!”
Paula @ Eat: Watch: Run says
Hmm…I would pick Kelly Clarkson’s voice. She can do a screaming/raspy thing that I really like.
Although, I think range-wise, Christina Aguliera’s got it going on.
Best male voice has always been Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots for me. It’s so sexy! (Probably just showed my age with that one.)
Jordan P @ food, sweat, and beers says
Mine would definitely be Phoebe from friends when she had her sexy phlegm.
Absolutely just kidding, probably (if I were a little smaller) the cute twangy voice of Taylor Swift. As I am now, probably Beyonce’s. She always sounds like she’s in charge!
peanutbutterfingers says
Smelly cat, smelly cat, what are they feeding you?
Smelly cat, smelly cat, it’s not your fault!
Samantha Shelton says
I would choose either Lea Michele from Glee or Carrie Underwood. Loveeee both of them! They both have really raw, talented voices. As for a guy, I’d choose Keith Urban. I’m a country girl and I never get sick of listening to his voice.
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Michael Buble is amazing!
Hmm, I think that I would have to choose Colby Caille’s voice. I think she is amazing. I enjoy her personality as well (because I know her in real life.. not) from what I know about her.. so I suppose I would just take on her entire being! 😉
Jamie aka "Sometimes Healthy" Girl says
Ohhhh that’s a great question! I’m a big fan of Carrie Underwood. She has a beautiful voice with a lot of power to it. I’m actually a huge fan of Javier Colon from the show, The Voice. His voice is so smooth! I hope he wins 🙂
Hope says
I LOVE Michael Buble! I’ve seen him in concert twice and he is just incredible! I also really like Aaron Lewis who is the lead singer from the band Staind. I have seen him perform accoustically 4 or 5 times and he is really talented.
This is such a difficult question! Hmm..I’m not sure who would I choose. I think I might go with Carrie Underwood or Beyonce.
Alyssa - fashion fitness foodie says
I love to start my workouts with I wanna dance with somebody!
I think I would have to choose Adele…
Jess (In My Healthy Opinion) says
I just saw Michael Buble in concert this weekend – absolutely amazing! “Everything” is one of our songs too. 🙂
I’d want Shoshana Bean’s voice (she played Elphaba on Broadway, among other roles) and just rocks it like none other!
Laurel says
Duh, Christina Aguilera! And I think Josh Turner has the sexiest voice on the radio 🙂
Alaina says
I love Michael Buble’s voice.
I would have to say Brian Stokes Mitchell is my favorite voice. He was in the original Ragtime. It’s so powerful and he can sing tenor. Love it. 🙂
For a woman’s voice, I would love to sing like Kelly Clarkson.
Cynthia says
I would love the voice of either Adel or Carrie Underwood. I LOVE Adel!
Juju @ Get Fit with Juju says
I’m going to have to go with Christina Aguilera voice! Love her sound on ” What a girl wants” song!
And for a guys best vocals…
ZAC EFRON!! I love his voice 🙂
Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles says
Adele’s voice, for sure! So much power in it – it’s so moving!
Emilia says
I’m going totally Broadway here and say I’d want Bernadette Peters’ voice! It’s so distinctive and powerful. Although I love Michael Buble’s voice (who doesn’t really?), Matt Morrison is definitely my favorite male voice hands down.
Khushboo says
I am so tone deaf and would love to have Beyonces voice! It’s so powerful and if only i go as high as she can, a lot of people would be very grateful 😉
Khushboo says
Wait a sec, how could I forget Rihanna…tough call!
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
If I were a dude I’d want Josh Groban’s voice. Michael Buble would be pretty awesome too, though…I feel like those men open their mouths and women just start taking their clothes off. Must be a tough life.
As for women…hmmm. I’m going between the more classically amazing voices like Idina Menzel and Charlotte Church, and the pop singers like Adele with Beyonce who sound so unique. It’s a tough call! I actually sang in high school but my voice isn’t very special, haha. It’s just really high.
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Giggling at your weekend update – I think you oversimplified a bit! 😉
I loved Whitney when I was growing up. I wrote her a letter to tell her that we shared the same birthday and I read her favorite color was purple (which was mine at the time). She never wrote back – go figure!
Rachel @ The Perseverance Diaries says
I wish I could sing like Mariah Carey. My sisters laugh at me in the car when we all sing because I am so off key. I wish I had an incredible voice but I just don’t! Oh well, at least I can enjoy others 🙂
Heather (Heather's dish) says
I really live Karmin’s voice in the karmin music channel on YouTube…it’s gorgeous!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I’m off to eat a smoothie that looks just like yours! 🙂
Lauren B. says
Carrie Underwood, for sure. And while we’re at it, I’ll take her legs, too!
Hayley @ hayley daily says
That’s a tough and interesting question!
I think for the male voice…I love Ray LaMontagne’s voice because it’s so different. But I agree, Michael Bublé’s voice is also heavenly.
For the female voice, I think I’d have to go with Adele. Again, I just think it’s different and interesting.
Sigh, my voice is so boring.
😛
Ruthie Hart says
I am absolutely obsessed with Michael Buble!! I have seen him twice in the past year and my husband and I danced to You and I for our first dance. We actually had Everything- Michael B play as we walked down the aisle after we were pronounced man and wife!
christina says
what a great question!
female voices: alison krauss, rosie thomas, Alison Sudol (A Fine Frenzy)
male voices: matt nathanson, matthew morrison, michael buble
christina says
i forgot harry connick, jr!! *dreamysigh*
Lauren says
Patsy Cline! I would love to have her deep sultry voice, so unlike my own. haha
Kristy@RunTheLongRoad says
I 100% agree with your Michael Buble choice! I saw him in concert last year and he was amazing!
Jacki says
I’d love to have Carrie Underwood’s voice! I saw her in concert a couple times and she can sing ANYthing. She’s adorable!
And I completely agree with Michael Buble as the best male singer. I absolutely love him and am insanely jealous of his wife.
alex says
Idina (sp) Menzel…hands down… I want her voice
jen @ taste life says
I’m going to steal another commenter’s selection and choose Adele! She is sooo amazing.
Lauren says
Everything was our first dance song too! I have never known of someone doing the same! So neat… love the blog!
Lyndsay says
Norah Jones is one of my absolute favorites!
