Last week, I was nominated by Carissa and Courtney to participate in the Seven Links blog post that’s been going around blog world. The essence of the post is basically doling out superlative awards for your own blog posts.
So let’s get to it!
Most Beautiful Post
I think the most beautiful posts I’ve written for Peanut Butter Fingers were my wedding recap posts.
- Getting Ready
- Bridesmaids
- Groomsmen
- Behind the Door
- Flowers
- Details
- My Father
- My Mother
- Ceremony
- Reception: Part I
- Reception: Part II
They were so much fun to do because they allowed me to relive the most amazing day of my life and hone in on the emotions I felt that day. By breaking up the day into a handful of recap posts, I was able to fully immerse myself into each specific aspect of our wedding, from the ceremony to the reception, to the wonderful people involved in our special day.
Most Popular Post
- Makeup Madness: The post where I detailed my morning makeup routine
- How to Curl Your Hair with a Straightener: My first-ever video post, detailing how to curl your hair with a straightener
- Half Marathon Playlist: The playlist that powered me through the Chicago Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon last August
Most Controversial Post
I am not a very controversial person by nature and choose to remove myself from situations where conflict and controversy arise. This doesn’t mean that I don’t have strong opinions – because I do – I just choose to keep my blog a harmonious place.
Of course controversy finds me in the comments section of some posts, but the (always anonymous!) commenters usually attack superficial things like my appearance or something silly and the public relations major in me encourages me to just move on rather than dwell on cattiness and negativity.
Most Helpful Post
Blog readers have expressed their desire to work out in the morning to me many, many times. Over and over again I hear about their desire to workout in the morning, but their inability to simply get out of bed at an “ungodly hour.” Many times working out before the sun comes up seems unrealistic or just plain miserable, so I wrote this post to hopefully provide motivation and ideas to those who wish to make the transition.
This post was inspired by my decision to leave a high-paying job for a job that paid $10,000 less a year to simply regain my personal happiness. I was honestly dumbfounded at the response I received on this post. It seems like many, many people have worked in absolutely miserable jobs simply for the paycheck. It was my hope that this post would help people who are currently struggling in an awful job to see that there is a way out and a light at the end of the tunnel, even if that means making less money.
Surprise Success
I’ve never been more nervous to publish a post on the blog than I was when I published “Because of You,” the post that detailed my decision to leave my full-time job to pursue a career in freelance writing and blogging. I thought I would receive backlash from some readers about leaving a stable job when, in fact, I received the most amazing outpouring of love and support. I was blown away by your kind comments of encouragement and still go back to the comments section of this post to re-read your words when I need a little pick-me-up.
Not Enough Attention
I think more of you guys NEED to make these peanut butter protein bars. They are unbelievably delicious and were consumed by the hundreds during my first bachelorette party weekend in Chicago. They’re SO good!
Most Proud
This post was inspired by a church service I attended where my pastor said, “When we romanticize the situations of others, we will never be satisfied with what we have.” It’s so easy to see another woman and think she’s gorgeous, has a perfect body, an awesome job and an amazing family and wish, on some level, that we were her or were as pretty, successful, or put-together as she seems. This post delves into my personal struggle with comparing myself to other women and how I try to overcome The Comparison Trap.
And now, in the spirit of the Seven Links post tradition, I tag the following bloggers to participate in this fun post:
- Ashley @ ASpoonfulofSmash
- Gina @ Fitnessista
- Meg @ SunshinenSpice
- Kelly @ WhatKellySaid
- Faith @ FortheHealth
- Megan @ MeganerdRuns

Loved this!! I was definitely fan of The Comparison Trap that so many women ( me included!) fall victim to.
Good luck with your transitions and I hope you find a home soon!! 🙂
Victoria (District Chocoholic) says
I just paid attention to your peanut butter protein bars. I may pay attention to them enough to make a variant this week. I will give that post the love it deserves.
Jessica @ Sushi and Sit-Ups says
I love reading your old posts–all of them are great! When I first started reading your blog, one of my favorite things was to go through your wedding recap. Glad you included them!

I third the love for the morning workout post – I used to be a night-owl-morning-hater, but you’ve inspired me to seize the day…at “ungodly” hours! 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
woohoo!!
Amanda @ Running On Waffles says
I LOVE ‘When Money Isn’t Worth It.’ Even though I currently barely make enough to live on in my job, I feel like I can’t leave because my “job” is the stipend I’m getting while working on my PhD. I’ve realized that this isn’t the field I want to stay in, but I’m getting so close to finishing, I really want to do it for myself. I just hope that I can make it through, so I can find a job that I love.
Seeing people leave jobs to pursue new careers (ahem, you!) gives me hope that a few years from now, I’ll be doing something that makes me incredibly happy!
Cait's Plate says

Not enough attention?!?!?! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve made the peanut butter protien bars for home and for work! I brought them in to work one day and my boss keeps requesting me to make them so he has them in the fridge to snack on!!! BIG hit here in New England… They also bring back memories of when I first started “cooking” by making no bake peanut butter ball “cookies” rolled in carob powder of all things (Dad was going thru a “hippie” phase and I was allergic to caffine/chocolate at the time) Good memories!
peanutbutterfingers says
aw, that makes me so happy! glad they were a hit!
Laura @ prettylittlewords says
This is totally unrelated but I mega heart your yellow sports bra. Haha. <3
Kelly says
Thanks for the tag!! 🙂 I am so guily of watching that how to curl your hair with a straightner like a bazillion times! haha!
Megan @ www.theozsearch.blogspot.com says
I had no idea where the inspiration for your Comparison Trap blog came from! I am sooo guilty of that, and lately it’s along the lines of envying women who own homes and have cars that don’t break down! Great quote from that pastor–I am writing it on the white board on my fridge!
Corey @ Learning Patience says
Loved this post – great to get to know you better! xoxo from Trinidad
Rachel @ The Avid Appetite says
Love The Comparison Trap. It really is SO easy to get sucked into what others have or do, rather than who you are (or who I am).
Amy @ Forever 29 Blog says
I love this…so fun for your new readers to get to know you and catch up a little bit!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
I loved your Comparison Trap post — and I agree that your wedding posts were so beautiful. Your Europe posts were beautiful as well!
Erin @ Naturally Addicted says
I love your 7 links! I loved your wedding posts… the pictures were gorgeous!! The comparison trap was a fantastic post as well. I know I feel that way on occasion and having you put it out there really makes us all realize we aren’t the only ones! Thanks Julie!
Bee Goes Bananas says
I love this post! It’s so much fun and a great way to look back at old posts! Sometime needs to tag me so I can write a 7 Links post! 😉 (Hint, hint!)
Megan Mathers says
I loved this post! Great way to see that some of your favorite post are also some of my favorite post of yours. I went back and read the “How to Work Out In the Morning” post and it gave me an idea! Right now our Sadie girl is NOT sleeping well at all becuase she just had her “no puppy” surgery 😉 Last night she woke up at 12, 1:30, 4:30 and 5:30. At her last wake up call to us she gave me this look like “Mom, PLEASE don’t make me go back to bed!” when all I was thinking was “Sadie, get back in ‘your room'”. Now, I am dreading taking her for a walk this afternoon in this heat wave that we have going on right now in SC. Temps reaching 105 with a heat index of 115 is NOT fun walking weather. However, if I would have taken her at 5:30 when she was ready to go, not only would I have gotten my work out in but I would have been a lot cooler! There is always tomorrow!! Now, lets hope I get up!
Aine @ Something to Chew Over says

This came at a great time! I am new reader and I am just catching up on some of your older posts.
I am getting married next September and I absolutely love your wedding recaps. Good thing my boss didn’t come by, or I’d have to explain that I was crying over the wedding of a person I’ve never met before. haha 🙂
Jackie @ That Deep Breath says
This is such a fun post! I loved reading your wedding recaps…so fun!
Khushboo says
Loved this and I remember reading each one of these posts 🙂
Jordan @ food, sweat, and beers says
Ah, such a fun recap, I always wonder about certain bloggers what the “most controversial” will be.
I just curled my hair POSSIBLY for the first time ever in front of my beau (who I’ve been with for 3.5 years… wow) and he was such a fan, I may actually need to check out on that curling hair with a straightening iron post!!
Lauren B. says
All of your posts are fun and I have been reading through them from the beginning of PBF for the past couple of months now. Your blog has temporarily replaced my love of reading books (as an avid reader, that says a lot!). This is by far my favorite blog out there because it IS harmonious and upbeat- there’s enough negativity in the world already.
Keep on, keepin’ on! 🙂
Lindsay@ In Sweetness and In Health says
I love these things…it’s so awesome to find out which posts the blogger picks! And okay, those peanut butter protein bars do looks really good! I would prob take out the craisins though because i’m not a fan haha
Ashley says
Thanks for the tag Julie 🙂 My lil baby blog doesn’t know what to do with all these PBFinger readers checking it out! I am excited to do my post tomorrow!
Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance says

Hi Julie! I made the peanut butter protein bars a few months ago and sent them in a care package to my boyfriend. The idea for the care package came from your “Long Distance Relationship” post 🙂 He loved them and pretty much ate the entire batch within 2 days! Thanks for the great recipe.

fittingbackin says
Great post! I loved your wedding pics too – beautiful is right! The comparison trap was also a favorite of mine, as was the post about your job choice. Now i’m off to check out some of these that I haven’t seen before!!
Rose says
Some of your superlatives posts are ones that I enjoyed that most! I think it’s because you are very open and honest in them, like your Wedding Recaps and When Money Isn’t Worth It.
I have a reader’s request for you! You seem to get so much done in your day – workout, walk Sadie, cook, spend time with you family, etc. How do you do it all?! Would you mind doing a breakdown of your typical day’s schedule working full-time job versus freelance job? 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
love that idea! thanks for the comment! i’ll add it to my “to do” list!
