Mission “use up all fresh food before Christmas” was in full swing at dinnertime in our house.
- Brussels sprouts
- Sweet potatoes
- Onion
- Fresh Italian sausage
All used up!
Dinner included sautéed Italian sausage and onion with roasted Brussels sprouts and sliced sweet potatoes.
A vibrant plate full of flavor!
As everything cooked, I snacked on pretzels. I cannot seem to keep my hand out of the pretzel bag today.
NBA League Pass = Tory Burch Flats
After dinner we took Sadie on an hour walk around the neighborhood. The weather started to warm up again this afternoon, so only a light sweatshirt was needed. It was a beautiful night!
During our walk, Ryan and I started making some deals.
Ryan wants to buy the NBA League Pass so he can catch all of the Chicago Bulls basketball games on television. The League Pass is a whopping $150.
I said that’s crazy expensive… and then said that if he buys the League Pass, I get to buy the super pricey Tory Burch flats I’ve wanted for more than a year now.
These beauties…
Honestly, I’m not liking either of our chances.
Off to read The Violets of March!
Bess @ Bess Be Fit says
Maybe you can each give the other what you want as a Christmas gift 🙂
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
that was EXACTLY what i said – why didn’t we do this for christmas!? but NEITHER of us voiced these wishes soon enough (well, i kind of did last year, but didn’t say anything really since they’re so $$). we’re both done shopping for each other this year and these didn’t make the cut. bummer!
Dani says
Early valentines day gifts?
Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn says
Currently: starting the Hunger Games. It’s about to get interesting.
I see those flats EVERYWHERE. They are so stinkin’ cute. Sooooo hey Santa, want to buy a girl some shoes?
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
haha sounds like my husband and me. i like your idea with the flats – very cute!
Katie @ Raisins&Apples says
Brussels sprouts + Sausage is one of the best meals. Ever. {especially on a weeknight!}
Brittany *Sparkles* says
funny! Hold your ground – he gets sports you should def get the shoes 😉
OMG I have been loving brussels sprouts and Italian veggie sausages lately! So funny .. looks delish!
HRCK the Herald says
Cost per wear for Tory Burch flats make them worth it 🙂 Ryan will totally buy that logic 🙂
Stephanie says
Awesommmeee! Fair trade!
Sabrina says
My boyfriend and I make deals like that all the time! We are building a strong, healthy relationship but I fear we may go broke at this rate. HAHA
Claire @ livingspreethegoodlife.wordpress.com says
I love my TB flats but funny enough they aren’t that comfortable! They run really small and the back digs into my heel after a day of wearing them. But who said we wore them for comfort? 😉 I say get ’em
Kristen says
I agree!! I have a pair and love them so, but my feet hurt so bad when I wear them. 🙁
Elizabeth says
Ugh! Me too! I love my TB flats but they aren’t comfy. Oh well, I guess beauty is pain.
Caroline says
I have several pair of tory shoes and they all run true to size except for the flats. I went up a half size and they are phenomenally comfortable and pretty!
Ellen @ Apples and Ice Cream says
Good deal! The dinner looks delish… And I am LOVING those shoes too!
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
Hahah! Sounds like a good trade to me 🙂
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
NICE. Sounds like the perfect 1 for 1!
Sara says
I wanted TB flats forever, so I saved and saved and finally got a pair. They’re the most uncomfortable shoes I’ve ever owned! Yes, they look great, but they don’t stretch at all, and the heel digs in and is super painful. Don’t waste your money! Even Shasta, a HUGE TB fan admits they’re so uncomfortable…http://www.shastaanne.com/2011/09/score-cheap-ballet-flats.html.
Kelly says
I recently purchased that EXACT pair of Tory Burch flats along with a pair of the classic Revas. The tumbled Revas absolutely torture my feet. If you can stand it I would suggest purchasing a size larger than you normally wear so the material won’t be as tight on the back of your ankles!
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake says
TAKE THE DEAL! 🙂
Katy @ A Shot of Life says
Seems like a fair trade to me! 🙂
And btw… I can’t put down Violets of March!!! I have a bad feeling that I’m going to finish it tonight…and I started it this afternoon. 😉
Karen says
I agree.. I have a pair and my best friend has two and we hate them.. haaa LOL
they cut into your heels and make your feet stink LOL
Mallory @ Have your cake And Eat It says
if it’s too late to give them to each other for xmas, valentine’s day isn’t TOO far off! just a thought 😉
Tori says
Three things:
1) As a Tori (with the same initials too) I okay the flats.
2) Um, the NBA pass is only $150?! I pay like 400 every year for the NFL Sunday Ticket and I’m single and live by myself! I need to get into basketball!
3) If you Google Spoiled Pretty’s blog, she actually found a pair of Tori Burch inspired flats for a fraction of the cost because she couldn’t justify shelling out the cash either.
Kerr says
I recently took the plunge and bought a pair of revas after years of coveting them. Totally worth it, I wear them all the time!!

As someone who’s been married for what seems FOREVER (married at 19, am now 44 so 25yrs gone) we don’t “make deals” anymore as the bargaining got out of hand.
If it makes the person happy and if iot means a lot to them then there is no bargaining and no “you owe me for…” – we often find that we make changes to what we do to pay for it (ex-if I want something “superfluous” I give up my treats at Starbucks to pay for it.
Of course if it is a huge financial item (thousands or a substantial ) then it is discussed.
One trip to see the Bulls in Miami would cost $150 +++ to be able to see a whole season for that is a DEAL and the cost per game is worth it for his happiness — and maybe
That’s what works for US … Just passing on an idea or two. (Of course it’s easy that I am NOT a shoe fanatic
Nathan Miller says
Sounds like the perfect deal to me! And just make it an extra special Christmas and just splug a little and forget Birthday gifts this year!
Emily says
After finishing the entire book in under 6 hours, I see why you got so sucked in to The Violets of March. Thanks for the book club pick and I’m looking forward to your review!
Jessica @ Sushi and Sit-Ups says
Ugh, I’m such a sucker for Tory Burch. Love those flats!
Olivia says
Julie!! I have those flats and they are amazing! (Well they look amazing haha) I’m not going to lie, they aren’t very comfy. Pain is beauty 😉
Nicole says
Buy the shoes. The League Pass can be paid in installments. Every time you wear those shoes, the cost per use goes down!

I bought myself a pair of Tory butch flats for Christmas 4 years ago and I still wear them all the time, they are a great investment!
Brittany says
MMMmmm! That meal actually looks SOO good!!
Laurel says
I am wishing for the Tory Burch riding boots (that are OVER $500!!!!!!), but that is not happening any time soon, or probably ever!
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
that was my first wish, but they’re so flippin’ expensive!
Kanoe says
As a sports fanatic myself I can sympathize with Ryan LOL! I love me some basketball LOL. But those shoes are stinkin CUTE!!! I love flats! Now I wear heels too but FLATS are my FAV!! And in that color… FABULOUS!! 🙂
Michelle @ Blogitness says
Those flats are cute! But, I have a friend who manages the shoe dept. at Nordstrom’s, she says they aren’t worth it. They really dig into your heels.
Mel says
I’ve had League Pass Broadband for the past two year- definitely worth it if you’re a hardcore fan, but the customer service sucks. Sometimes streams don’t work or cut out during overtime and all they do is offer sterile apologies rather than a partial reimbursement. I hope LP on tv doesn’t have the same technical difficulties.
How many games on national tv do the Bulls have this season? (National and local games are blacked out on League Pass.) Do you guys have DVR to record games?
Marci says
My husband and I make deals like that around birthday or Christmas gifts…and every once in a blue moon we throw caution to the wind and splurge!
I also wanted to let you know I made the sweet potato, chicken with enchilada sauce casserole last week and we’re making it again tomorrow night. It was SO GOOD!!!
If you have time, come check out my blog: http://blognamedbrew.blogspot.com/. It captures my adventure of sampling 365 breweries in 365 days! I’m on day 10.
Sana says
Flats are never comfy for me, are Tory Burch flats comfy?
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
i wouldn’t know… yet! 🙂 i’ve heard mixed reviews though.
Heather H. @ Run Eat Play says
My husband would die if he couldn’t watch the Bears games! Get the shoes – you only live once : )
Jena says
We have similar conversation except our wants are a little bigger. He says he gets a boat when his truck is paid off .. If he gets a boat, then I get the Nissan 350Z that i’ve been drooling over for years.
I’m not usually a fan of your meals, but I love sausage and brussel sprouts! That is something quick that I could make for myself when my Husband is out of town.
Alexa @ SimpleEats says
That sounds like a pretty good deal to me! I don’t even know how I would choose with those flats…I want them in every color!
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie says
I have those flats in patent black and sparkly silver and love them both! I hope you get your pair! They’re super cute and would go with everything!
Lauren @ Fun, Fit and Fabulous! says
My husband and I make deals like that all the time excepts his is usually for football tickets and mine is for Lululemon! 🙂
Khushboo says
For what it’s worth, those pumps are worth every single of those 150 dollars…comfort and style!
Katie @ Livehalffull says
TB flats are so worth it!!! To convince my fiancé, I figured out that if I wore them 4x a work to week this year they would cost less than $1 per wear! And I really do wear them daily, so they are worth it! 🙂
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
haha i like where your head’s at!
Katie for Life says
I want those shoes!
Jessica says
I have the flats in 2 colors & have worn them all fall/winter! They’re super comfortable..definitely worth the splurge!
Corrie Anne says
Oh man. I want those Tony Burch shoes. I was so happy for you because I thought you got them!!!
Allie says
Julie, if you buy the flats definitely go up a half a size. When I did that with my pair, I didn’t have the problem of the back digging into my heel. However, I wore them around campus for a day- big mistake! I’d consider them
to be better suited for standing, sitting or walking short distances…. more like a show-off shoe rather than a functional pair 🙂 They are absolutely gorgeous though so I’m willing to sacrifice! Love & AOT
Cait says
omg Julie I have been wanting those EXACT flats for over a year and a half now haha and i’m sure my fiance would be saying the same thing…hmmm maybe some ideas for future birthday gifts?! 🙂 xo
Rebecca @ Naturally Healthy and Gorgeous says
Those flats are so beautiful but so pricey!
Megan says
I’m wearing those exact flats right now and I totally think they’re worth it. I seriously wearing them more than any other pair of shoes I own. And just like any other pair of shoes, yes, I had to break them in and they hurt for the first few wears….but they’re worth it. 🙂
Hope says
So funny with making deals like that! My fiance and I do things like that too.
I love those flats! I’ve always wanted a pair of those but I heard that they are not that comfortable.
Megan says
I wanted a pair of TB flats for years and finally bought a pair 3 months ago. Totally worth it, they go with everything!
