You guys are so, so wise.
Thank you to so many of you for recommending the incredible Nike Training Club app after I asked for awesome fitness app recommendations at the end of my morning blog post yesterday.
Since a large number of you had such wonderful things to say about the app, I downloaded it after work yesterday and played around with it before my morning workout.
Oh my gosh, it kicked my butt!!! I was dripping in sweat and even had two different people come up to me and ask me about my workout because they were intrigued by the crazy moves I was doing all over the gym floor. It was killer in the best possible way.
I did the Advanced Adrenaline Hit 45-minute workout and was so impressed with the way the workout included a timer, video demonstrations of the exercises, words of encouragement and proper form tips.
The workout included a warm up and stretching which, as a trainer, I also loved. Safety first!
I am excited to try workouts from the other categories and will definitely report back! Today’s workout was one of the app’s Get Lean workouts but they also have Get Toned, Get Strong and Get Focused workouts.
The app is free and available to both iPhone and Android users. I know I only have one workout under my belt, but even after one use, I can say I highly recommend it. Thank you so much to those of you who recommended it to me! Big sweaty hugs for all of you!
Breakfast
After my sweaty workout, I was more than ready for breakfast and prepared a batch of scrambled eggs with green pepper, mushrooms, chicken sausage and shredded cheese.
Plus a banana on the side!
Time to get the work day started!
Question of the Morning
- What is the last workout you did that completely kicked your butt?
Nicole says
I’m intrigued by this App! Does it allow you to select gym or home workouts? Or do all workouts require equipment found at most gyms (rather than limited equipment at home or when traveling)?
Catherine says
Before you choose a workout, it’ll tell you what (if any) equipment is required. Most of the workouts only require dumbbells or a kettlebell and a yoga mat. I downloaded the app when I moved into my house and cancelled my gym membership in favor of home workouts.
Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs says
Awesome! I downloaded both the NTC and the 7 Minute apps yesterday, and can’t wait to try them out!
eliza says
I used it too and it is great! The ab burner 15 minute one is awesome too if you just feel like running and then doing abs!
Karla @ Finding My Fit says
I used this app once or twice and was iffy on it just cause I enjoy lifting heavy weights so much. But now that I don’t do as much cardio (& in desperate need of doing it again..) maybe I’ll give this a try.
Those eggs look so good-I eat eggs just about every morning and need to start adding some chicken sausage–yum!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
A kettlebells class on Monday! I need a smart phone! That app sounds awesome!
Kalen says
So glad you like it! Sometimes after a run I’d do one of the 15 minute workouts that can target legs, abs, or arms. I really need to get back into that app since I know it’s so effective. Sweaty hugs back! 😉
Catherine says
The last workout I did that completely kicked my butt was an Amy Dixon workout from the Fitnessglo website. My arms and legs were wobbly when I finished …
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
This app looks great! I’ve never done a workout straight from an app before, so this sounds like it would be perfect for traveling or when I want something new and unique! I’ll have to check it out!
Ashley says
I LOVE that app! I use it all the time. I wish they’d come up with some more workouts!!
Kelly @ Kelly Runs for Food says
Yay! So glad you like the app, it’s definitely a favorite of mine! I also love that they have bonus workouts you can download if you get sick of doing the same ones.
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat says
I do love a sweaty workout! I’ve been doing some yoga fit lately and that leaves me super sweaty, but it’s awesome!
Tara | Treble in the Kitchen says
I’m definitely going to have to check out that app…it sounds great for those mornings when I just don’t want to think about what I have to do and I can have someone do the planning/thinking for me!
Annie @ Annie Get Your Run says
I just joined a new gym in Philly called Unite Fitness….it’s so hard! 30 minutes of HIIT on either the treadmill, the spin bike, or the rower (up to you!) and then 30 minutes of weights intervals followed by a 15 minute yoga stretch. I’m normally dripping with sweat after just the cardio and it only gets better from there!
Bari says
I LOVE the NTC app! I really need to dig it out and use it more often. The last workout that kicked my butt was a little 2 mile trail run on Sunday. I ran 8 miles Saturday and the hills and unsteady terrain Saturday has left my ankles and shins still angry today.
Dana @ Conscious Kitchen Blog says
I love NTC! The workouts are challenging, but use simple moves and limited equipment to do them. I’ve had the app for awhile and it’s always my go-to place to find a workout when I need to switch up my routine.
Jackie says
Ohh I wanna try that app!!!
Shay @ Whine Less, Breathe More says
Sounds like a great app! I will check it out.
The last workout that kicked my rear was my first cycling class a couple of weeks ago. Mercy.
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
I need to check out this app! Sounds like a good one!
The last workout I did that kicked my trash was Pump Class yesterday. Whew! It always challenges me, but it seemed even harder than usual yesterday.
Natalie @ Free Range Human says
I’m a recent convert to CrossFit, and every single workout kicks my butt. I love it!
Katie says
A class called Metabolic Effect.
shelby says
That’s my favorite when I want to switch things up. Glad you liked it!
Miranda @ Lovely Wife Lovely Life says
Yay so glad you fell in love with the app! Join the club! 😉 I am craving scrambled eggs SO badly right now… share with me!
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun says
Swimming has been kicking my butt but I can slowly see that I am getting better! I am trying to come back from injury so my workouts are slow but effective!
Naomi says
I did one of the Fitnessista’s workouts yesterday, and I am so sore today! I have done it before, but it’s been awhile, and the kettlebell swings really got me!
Dana says
I absolutely LOVE this app! It is seriously the best and I also love how they break down the exercises for you to ensure proper form so you can avoid injury! Genius! I mix it up a lot, but I tend to stick with Tracy Anderson and she kicks my butt every workout! If you haven’t heard of her, look her workouts up on Youtube. I HIGHLY recommend!
Megan says
Body pump kicked my butt yesterday, gotta love it!
peanutbutterfingers says
It’s the best!!!!!
Christine @ Gotta Eat Green says
I’m always looking for good new workouts to do at the gym! Definitely downloading this app!
Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
This sounds exactly like something I need in my life. I’ve been trying to figure out what to do for workouts lately, and this sounds great! Nike actually has a NTC concept store in Chicago where they offer free workout classes every day, including NTC workouts, but I have yet to attend (mostly because I’m lazy and it’s much easier to do a workout at home than go somewhere to workout!).
Jamie @ Sometimes Healthy Living Blog says
Oh wow, glad I read this post. I have a feeling that I will love the Nike App. I’m going to download ASAP. BodyCombat recently kicked my butt, as did my “Choose your Own Adventure” Halloween workout. Here’s the link in case you are interested!

Chelsea @ BigBitesLittleBudget says
Just downloaded the app! I have never heard of it before, but it looks like it will be a butt-kicker. Thanks for the suggestion guys (:
casie says
I did an advanced aerial yoga class last week, everything was burning. My teacher totally kicked my butt, I love that feeling. I also do an aerial silks class on Wednesdays which turns my arms into noodles
Anna says
So glad you like the app! As you do more workouts your earn new special workouts and healthy recipes as rewards which is pretty cool as well. Enjoy!
Lauren says
I can’t wait to check this out! I saw it under your comments yesterday and looked up reviews online. It definitely seems like a good one! And you must have looked like you were getting a killer workout if people approached you about it! I always wonder if my workout looks as hard as it is or I’m just over-exaggerating it in my head.
Ashley @ BrocBlog says
LOVE that App. It’s especially great when I dont feel like a trek to the gym because most of the moves can be done in my living room or at a nearby park. Before I had a gym membership it was my go-to workout.
Emily says
NTC is the best! I’ve been using it for the last year or so and it’s the best way to a.) add on to a short cardio workout or b.) squeeze in a quick at-home workout. You’ll get bonus workouts along the way and those are awesome, too. Welcome to the NTC club!
Laura @ Sneakers and Spatulas says
I love the Nike App! There is a nice post-run specific stretch video I like to use after running and I think it has really helped me avoid injury/soreness!

Kristen @ glitteranddust says
We have some awesome instructors at our local Barre 3 and I typically leave these classes shaking from muscle fatigue. They always find a way to use those muscles that “don’t exist” which is a good reminder for me to switch things up and add in that resistance training. Definitely an awesome workout and great way to tone the body.
mary @ minutes per mile says
that app kicks my butt! i consider myself a pretty fit person but struggle to get through the intermediate workouts! insane. i love it. takes up a lot of space but totally worth it IMO
Kimberly says
It’s kind of embarrassing but the last workout I did that REALLY kicked my butt was Jillian Michael’s Yoga Meltdown video!
Ashley says
I’d say the half marathon last weekend. Definitely kicked my butt.
And I see a girl that uses that app in my gym every Tuesday morning. She looks CRAZY intense, I love it!
Amanda says
I’m going to have to check that app out!
Rachel @ Betty LIVIN says
I’m glad you liked the app so much. It is my absolute favourite and it motivates me more than any other DVD or app. You can see a super sweaty pic of me post-workout from this app here: http://bettylivin.com/2012/12/14/friday-fitness-overview-4/
EVERYONE needs this app! I sound like a Nike spokesperson. Ha ha!
Lisa says
Body Pump!!
Laura @losingrace says
Ive used this app a few times and this is a good reminder that I should use it more! It can definitely kick your butt!
Lauren @ Peaks and Passports says
Yesterday I broke out an oldie but a goodie: the Men’s Health Spartacus Workout. It’s an intense circuit workout that you’d probably love. I thought I might not be as sore as I used to be since I’ve been working out pretty consistently, but my glutes are telling me otherwise today. Love the burn!
Jessica says
I love the Nike Training app! I love the workouts from other athletes and always get excited when there is an update or I unlock another level! I think a workout from that app or the yoga workout from P90X was the last butt kicking workout I did. Now that I’m 7 months pregnant, walking on the treadmill at an incline for 30 minutes kicks my butt.
Britt @ Fit Fit Britt Britt says
I’m intrigued! I may need to download this. All my workouts have been run-based lately since I am running my first half marathon next weekend! eek!
Taylor @ Single-tracked Mind says
I love the Nike Training App! It’s not great for lifting heavy but wonderful for circuit and plyo workouts!
Stephanie says
Tae Bo!!!!! I was doing the DVD after I had my first baby and it kicked my butt.
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves says
Ooo I need to check this out! The last workout that kicked my butt was one of my strength/cardio circuit workouts that I hadn’t done in a while. I was wiped! The combination of strength and cardio always gets my heart pumping and muscles burning in the best way!
