You’re just one workout away from a good mood.
I woke up feeling crabby and a little out of sorts. I remembered Cynthia’s mantra and walked to the gym determined to flip flop my mood.
About 20 minutes into my workout, I noticed myself gettin’ into the music blasting on my iPod. I was sweating and kickin’ my butt and feeling 10,000 times better.
I will definitely keep this mantra in the back of my mind on days when I’m feeling out of it or just plain grumpy (not grumbles 😉 ).
My workout today looked like this:
- 15 min. run
- 5 min. incline walk
- 10 min. stair master
- 20 min. elliptical
I hopped around from machine to machine to fight boredom and this workout flew by! Gotta love cardio hodgepodge workouts.
Breakfast
Breakfast this morning included a new little treat.
Funky Monkey freeze-dried fruit! I received three packs of the snacks from the company to sample and couldn’t wait to give them a try because of this…
Do you see the ingredient list!? Freeze dried pineapple and guava. That’s it.
The bits of fruit were crunchy and so sweet! I actually double checked the ingredient list because I was convinced there had to be added sugar. But no! The fruit almost tasted crystallized. I loved every flavorful bite.
I ate most of the pineapple and guava pieces straight out of the bag but managed to save a few to sprinkle on top of my morning yogurt bowl.
In the mix:
- 2% Chobani Greek yogurt
- Fresh blueberries
- Sweet potato puffs
- Chia seeds
- Funky Monkey pink pineapple pieces
The texture freak in me was really feelin’ all the different textures in this bowl.
Off to work!
Oh and be sure to stay tuned because a giveaway involving Funky Monkey snacks is in the works! 😀
I love that mantra! It’s soooo true too! 🙂 Also, your breakfast loooks delicious – I love how you always have so many different things thrown in there!
I looooove dried pineapple! And that mantra is great for the days that you dont want to work out…. gonna have to remember that one!
Those Funky Monkey snacks look delicious. Looking forward to a giveaway! 🙂
Love the mantra!! I need to think about that one, especially in the early AM.
I love freeze dried fruit but it is so expensive so i don’t buy it very often. I have have tried all the funky money flavors. The banana cinnamon is my favorite.
Your breakfast looks yummy! I have had another brand of freeze dried fruit(can’t remember the name) before that made apples with cinnamon and they were really good! Would love to try the pineapple, though!
Love that mantra! I used the same type of thing to get myself to the gym last night. I was feeling down and didn’t want to workout at all, but once I got on the treadmill I almost immediately started feeling better!
Workouts are definitely a quick fix for a bad mood, huh? Those dried fruits look so tasty! I have trouble not eating a whole bag of something like that, so I usually don’t buy it. I need to work on my self control–I seem to be having a mindless eating moment right now!
these bags were individual servings! portion control mastered! 🙂
A ha! They must have heard about me! 😀
YOu have to love a name like Funky Monkey! Cute 🙂
And yes, workouts are a sure fire way for a good mood!
I tend to find that it’s always hard to get yourself to workout (esp in the AM), but once you’re there and sweating and giving it your all, it’s so worth it! I found that to be true this morning! Hope your mood only continues to improve today! 🙂
I had such a similar experience this morning. I don’t often comment on the fitness topics because quite honestly I have a one track mind (food) but it was a little bit of a struggle to get out of bed and to the gym this morning. As I was lacing up my sneakers I kept saying to myself, ugh, don’t want to do this. But then I thought about faking it till you make it. I forced a fake smile on my face and said out loud, I want to DO this! Awesome spin class and weight training later, I feel fantastic. Yay for workout mantras.
that’s awesome! gotta love the “fake it til you make it” strategy!
I totally know what you mean about not wanting to go to the gym, but feeling so much better afterwards. I had the exact same experience last night after work! Good job getting yourself to the gym this morning – that is usually 90% of the battle!
Those look awesome! I love dried fruit.
Isn’t it amazing what exercise can do for your mind, let alone your body? I love feeling mentally clear and focused after a good workout! Way to go girl!
YES! i honestly feel like i workout for my mind MORE than my body half the time.
I heart that mantra…exactly what I needed to read this very moment!
I LOVE the feeling I get after a workout!! Endorphins ROCK!! 😀 And I love that mantra!!
Your meals always look so goooood!! What time do you have to be at your job in the mornings? Man I wish I had the time for some of those breakfast wraps you’ve posted about…soo delish-looking!
you may see my morning routine here: https://www.pbfingers.com/2010/04/30/streamlining-your-morning-routine/
Those Funky Monkey snacks look great! I love your yogurt bowl. I totally need to make one for breakfast. They just look too good to pass up.
I have never heard of Funky Monkey… they look great though 🙂
This mantra was the definition of my life yesterday. I woke up and had too much homework to get done before class so I couldn’t. I was in SUCH a negative place it was ridiculous. There was not one positive thought that went through my head. So I laced up my shoes and hit the gym mid-way through they day and knocked out 5 miles on the treadmill…turned my whole day around!
Funky Monkey snacks are delicious, but the sugar content is insane. I actually got really jittery from eating the bag I tried. I couldn’t stop shaking!
All of my workouts are cardio hodgepodge. It’s the only way I can not get entirely bored. 🙂
That mantra is so true!! Anytime I’m in a bad mood or stressed, I know that a workout will help me get out of my funk! Glad it worked for you today! 🙂
My day definitely hasn’t started off well, but I am going to use that mantra at the gym today.
yyyyessss.. I was hoping you’d end that post with a giveaway. 😉
aaand… since you liked your “Wine-O” glass, I must give you a heads up – I’m doing a giveaway for a hand-painted shot glass with any design you want!
Julie? Ryan? any takers?
that is such an awesome mantra! I definitely need to think of that when I’m on the way home from a tough day at work and want to skip the work out
oh…and those funky monkey snacks look fantastic! I need to try some asap.
I just wrote a similar post about this over the weekend, it’s so true! In fact, I just had a work out like that yesterday! Wasn’t in the mood for it at alllllll (literally had to drag myself outta bed!) but once it was over and done with, I realized it was one of the best work outs i’ve ever had!
Those fruit snacks look/sound delish!!!!!!
Glad you got in a great workout despite feeling grumpy at first! Love the mantra!
That fruit looks great! I’m a big fan of the dried mango from Trader Joe’s that’s called “Just Mango.” It’s honestly just mango – no other added ingredients. A lot of freeze-dried/dried fruit has added sugar. I’ll have to be on the lookout for this brand!
I’m slightly obsessed with TJ’s “Just Mangos.” I’ve been loving them for years and years! 🙂
I’ve never had freeze dried fruit but i love the sound of it!
I thought of you and all the great mantras last night because I REALLY didn’t want to go to the gym. Luckily they worked & I had a GREAT workout. Thanks for the motivation!
I got the trio mix, found it at target, last year and it was so good! Totally; texture freak in me loved it too, ha!
Not a bad amount of fiber in those little snacks! Yum!
I love your site! also woke up in a bad mood today and used your mantra pre treadmill for a kick-butt run!! thanks for sharing!
ahhh i have to try those fruit snacks. i love dried fruit, but i try to avoid it because of all the added sugar.
good job on your workout this morning! i had a similar experience. i did not wanna get out of bed, but knew i shouldn’t skip my run since i’m training for a half marathon. i went, and was soooo glad i did. got it outta the way! and felt a million times more energized!
So glad you used my mantra. I can’t count the number of times that saying that to myself has gotten me to work out. And since I am not in the greatest of moods today, I will probably use it again to work out tonight.
those look great
I love cardio hodgepodge too 🙂 I usually do that if I want to fight boredom….and I love those freeze dried fruits too- I hope I win in the near future 🙂
That’s such a great mantra! And totally true!
This looks delicious! 🙂
I had to tell myself the same thing last night. Everything was pointing to skipping my workout (I forgot a sports bra and a shirt in my gym bag, haha) but I knew getting it in would make me happy so I did it.
I just tweeted about Gerber Puffs yesterday! I tried sweet potato, which I thought I would adore, but they taste like nothing. I just bought banana and apple strawberry and both are deeeeeelicious! very strong flavor, I recommend them if you haven’t tried them 😉
I’ve seen those at WF and was curious if they’re any good.
I’ve been feeling in a funk all day, too..but I’m just about to head to the gym. So good mood, here I come!
I need to think of those mantra’s when I need to change my mood or to give me a little extra push during my workout!
Loving the mantra!!! Great workout too 🙂
The Funky Monkey snacks look awesome!! I’m excited for the giveaway!
gotta love those items that are made from literally just a few (or ONE!) ingredient. not sure if you have adam’s (brand) peanut butter in florida (i live in oregon) but it has one ingredient. ONE! peanuts of course. no added sugar, salt, anything. it’s amazing!!! i know some of the other natural PBs have a couple ingredients but if you have adam’s there, you should definitely give it a try! so so good!
I’ve tried the banana ones of those and loved it! That mantra is so true – going for a run improves my mood & energy so much.
Because of you I totally bought baby cereal yesterday!! lol. I got the cinnamon apple kind, can’t wait to try em in my yogurt bowls too =)
I was wondering if you consider the peanut butter bars as “sweets.” I’ve been cutting out “Sweets” as well before my wedding this Summer but I still like to find healthy options for a slight sugar fix from time to time. It looks like we have the same viewpoints on what we consider sweets to be!
