Someone is so over the tropical storm that is causing all of the rain in Ocala.
I’m pretty sure Sadie couldn’t be more annoyed.
For as much as Sadie loves her kiddie pool and jumping off the boat into the ocean (in her doggie life jacket, of course), she is not a fan of wet, rainy weather.
I fear being home alone with her today. Right now she appears to simply be pouting, but I know that the pouting will turn to frustration soon enough and I will be harassed.
Workout
This morning Ryan and I headed out to the gym nice and early. The place was dead. Excessive amounts of rain definitely affect attendance at our gym. (My parents are actually trapped at home and cannot leave their neighborhood because of the flooding!)
I began my workout with 20 minutes on the elliptical before doing the LiveFit arms workout. (I skipped the abs workouts that go along with that workout because I didn’t want to be in the gym that long.)
As far as the whole LiveFit program thing is going, I’m no longer saying I’m even “loosely following” it. I will do the workouts here and there when I want to, but the program, while challenging and exciting at first, became just a little too boring for me after a while. I wasn’t really looking forward to the workouts, which is the polar opposite of how I felt when I did Tina’s Best Body Boot Camp. Those workouts were a blast!
I know many people love LiveFit and saw great results on the program and that’s fantastic! It just wasn’t the right workout program for me.
I want my time in the gym to be enjoyable and believe that there are way too many different kinds of workouts out there that I really love to spend time doing workouts that I don’t find as stimulating. I missed my circuit workouts and workout flexibility way too much! So that’s the deal. Also, Tina said she may be launching another Boot Camp soon, and I’m awfully intrigued!
Breakfast
Breakfast today was an egg scramble with turkey bacon and onions, served with a zucchini muffin.
Did you notice my fancy schmancy reusable heart-shaped muffin tin?
My mom gave them to me several years ago as a little Valentine’s Day gift and I think they’re adorable! (I found them here on Overstock.com this morning.)
A hot mug of coffee rounded out the meal!
Question of the Morning
- Have you ever started training for something or started a new workout program only to find that it wasn’t the right fit for you?
Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers says
I too got quite bored with LiveFit. It seems exciting since the workouts change so much…. but it’s not.
Enjoy your week!
peanutbutterfingers says
ha! yeah, you would think… and i LOVE strength training. i just need more excitement. i missed group exercise classes, circuit workouts, etc.
Christina says
I love those muffin tins! Im planning on making those muffins later this week. One time I started a new workout class at my rec center called spin/sculpt. We had weights in our hands as we were spinning. I am so uncoordinated and could only concentrate on not letting the weights fall on my feet! The room was also heated to 85 degrees. Needless to say it was the worst spin experience in my life. haha. I hope the rain subsides and that your parents are safe. Have a great Monday
Sarah @ In Sustainability and in Health says
I had the very same experience with Live Fit! Also couldn’t get into the idea of no cardio in phase one.
I liked the plan because I learned some new moves, but overall I found it a it tedious… I’m back to group classes and doing my own thing with strength training!
Khushboo Thadani says
I think it’s great that you’ve decided not to follow Livefitif you’re not enjoying it! There’s no bonus points for sticking out a workout- the main thing is to find something which you WANT to do! I loved Body for Life but if it was even a week longer than 12, I am not sure I would have carried on…it did eventually become mentally-numbing.
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
Do you just put those reusable muffin tins on a cookie sheet in the oven? Or do they go inside a normal muffin pan? I’ve actually never seen the reusable ones.
peanutbutterfingers says
i put them in a muffin tin, but i think you can put them right on a cookie sheet. i’ve only ever used them in a muffin tin though, so i’m not positive!
Heather @ Housewife Glamour says
Ugh – SO over the storms here in Orlando too. My dog is going NUTS!
As for a workout program…I have to say I really do like P90X. I love the concept, but the entire 90 days is just not for me. My husband does the program once a year to jump start a new workout routine, and I join in on a video every now and then. The results are incredible, but I could never commit to the full program. That’s just me! 😉
Katie says
Are you anywhere near Clearwater? I came across a picture on FB of a minor league ballpark there and the field was literally a lake. It kind of reminds me of freshman year in the dorms. We had a hurricane and the school asked people to go home if they could. Of course we did not. We lost power so we had to resort to good old fashioned mud games in the quads!
peanutbutterfingers says
we’re about 1.5 hrs. from clearwater… my parents are close to clearwater though and my dad can’t even leave the neighborhood to go to work today b/c of the flooding!
Faith @ For the Health of It says
I saw that too – isn’t it INSANE?
Faith @ For the Health of It says
I love those silicone cups. World Market has a TON of them in adorable shapes too.
Kelly says
I used to do this bootcamp in my neighborhood and I met some amazing friends. For the first month I LOVED it but then it just got repetitive and nothing really new was introduced. I stuck with it for another 2 months and then decided that was it. I quit even though I met some awesome people it just wasn’t for me for the long haul.
Katie says
I also love strength training but I love circuits that work the whole body in each workout vs. focusing on one body part each day…lucky the trainer I work with twice a month makes AWESOME custom workout for me like that. I love seeing myself get stronger and seeing the change in my body as the weights get stronger!
I also try to get one BodyPump class in a week, I’m gonna miss it this week and I’m SO bummed!
Amber says
I felt the same way when i did livefit, loved it at first – then i got bored of it!
Reusable muffin tins are awesome 🙂
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
I did that with New Rules of Lifting for Women, I got so bored and did not look forward to it!
Lindsey says
I am on week two of Live Fit, and only kind of following the workouts, weeks 3 &4 seem okay when I checked them out but pass that the workouts are too long for me! I wanted to do to the program to get more comfortable doing other moves and exercises outside my normal routine. But after week 4 I might just use some of the moves to create a few new workouts for myself versus following their plan.
Ashley @ Sweat for Sweets says
I find whenever I start training for a race, I get kinda bored of all the running. While I do enjoy a good run, I get kind of bored & like to throw in several weight-training sessions.
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Ooh those are very cute muffin cups! I find that if I’m on a single program, I get bored really easily after a couple of weeks. Like you, I’d be looking to mix things up and it’s great that you’re knowledgeable in other types of training – if you’re bored of it, chances are your muscles are bored too!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
This makes me feel better about abandoning (well more like heavily modifying :)) Livefit around week 8. I felt the same…bored and hated having to commit to 90+ minutes of a workout 6 days a week.
Ashley @ The North Carolina Cowgirl says
I haven’t tried LiveFit but after reading the comments I can’t say I want to, lol. I tried BodyRock but didn’t stick with it long. It was too intense for me especially since I’m not in shape and was doing it to get in shape. I need something a little easier to keep up with and that just wasn’t it. Any advice on workouts that are great for someone who’s VERY out of shape and needs something easy and at home to do. I’m a huge fan of at home workouts b/c I don’t like going to the gym.
carrie (actsofrebellion) says
i’ve experimented with a couple of exercising phenomenons and found they weren’t the right fit for me, some i really wanted to like but just didn’t. but on the flip i have found new exercise loves along the way! yay! 🙂
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake says
Hope the rain stops soon! I saw pictures of all the flooding in FL on the news today… yikes!
Megan@ The Running Doc says
When I first started working out consistantly, about 5 years ago now, I mostly did the elliptical. I wanted to start running and thought training for a half marathon was a brilliant plan. Ha, the first day called for 3 miles and I hopped on the treadmill and could barely finish one! I knew at that moment that I needed to start with training for something a little shorter, like a 5k.
Mrs Type A says
I took about 3-4 bikram yoga classes before deciding it just wasn’t for me. It wasn’t just that it was hot– I had done vinyasa hot yoga before and liked it– I just thought it was boring. I also found that spinning classes just weren’t for me. Even though I felt like it was a good workout, it just hurt my butt too much! 🙂
corrie anne says
I tried insanity for 30 days… I was DEDICATED. But I hated every minute, and actually gained weight. No more!! Lol.
Yellow Haired Girl says
Ohhhh Sadie. Feelin’ for you (and her!) 🙂
Taylor @TIUTaylor says
Ugh, sorry about the yucky weather you’ve been having! At least the gym was empty… that is my favorite! I have never tried any other exercise program other than the Tone It Up workouts which I absolutely love but I have definitely heard similar comments about LiveFit! Ps – your breakfast looks so yummy 🙂
Joanna @ Midwestern Bite says
All your rain seems to have cooled our Midwestern weather a bit so there is a bright side to everything. I haven’t found the right training for me yet, so mostly I just wing it inside the small time frame I have for “me stuff”. I would love love love to have a personal trainer, but it is so not in the budget.
Jackie says
Please send some rain to Kentucky, we are in a drought!
Holly says
You should try Jillan Michael’s Making the Cut! I just looked at my book again for workouts, and I think you would LOVE it!! They are ALL circuit workouts, they seem right up your ally! 🙂
Alysha @Shesontherun says
I ran track in high school, so I thought cross country would be a natural fit. I was halfway through training in the summer and I decided it wasn’t for me. It’s hard to commit so much time to something you’re not into (whether it’s a book or training plan).
Suzanne @ Fit Minded Mom says
Yep!! I had the same experience with LIVE FIT and felt the workouts took entirely too much time after Phase 1. I am a mom of two and can’t (don’t want to) spend 1.5 to 2 hrs in the gym per day. Quick and effective is my workout preference!!
Liz @ IHeartVegetables says
Awww the heartshaped muffins are adorable! 🙂 What a cute idea!
That’s such a bummer about the rain. Even if I can get to the gym, the rain does put a damper on my motivation!
Tina @ Best Body Fitness says
Yep! Announcing the new bootcamp on Wednesday and it will start sometime towards the middle or so of July. 🙂
Jaren@Kiwi Fit Blog says
Send the rain to Texas, we want it. All my family lives in Florida, and some of them are trapped too. Hope it passes soon.
clare @ fittingitallin says
Yep – Live Fit! I actually made it through 10 weeks and just couldn’t do it anymore. I missed my fun workouts!
Ellie says
I started Insanity not long ago but dont use it as religiously now because I alternate my routines a lot. Recently I stated spinning too so now I use that when I would have been doing insanity. 🙂 but I just love the varieties you know? Circuits are always on thhe book though
Allison @ Running Through Red Lights says
I’ve started and stopped p90x 3 times. I’ve made it through 4 weeks each time, but the workouts are so repetitive and I like to have a little more variety for the amount of time the workouts take. I keep saying I’m going to start again, but I just can’t make myself do it! If Tina’s starting a boot camp soon, I may go that route–I’ve read so many great reviews!
Beks says
Too bad you can’t send those storms to Colorado. They need it very badly!
Millie Snyder says
I’m really looking for a new work out routine/challenge.
The only one I’ve ever done was called “The 28-day Shapeover” by Brad Schoenfeld. It’s a book that lays out a month plan which includes your daily diet and work out regime step-by-step. I really have no complaints about it. You could do 30- minute exercises 6 days a week, or combine them and do 1-hour exercises 3 days a week. it fit perfectly with my schedule and it takes the thinking out of the work out. I saw results already by the second week. In fact, I think I’ve just re-convinced myself to stick with what I know works! I really do suggest this book- it’s like a personal trainer with out the high price tag!
Meagan Robertson says
I have never been able to get into yoga. I’ve tried a few classes and sometimes felt challenged but it’s not a workout that I could incorporate regularly into my routine. I’m more into intense, heart pumping exercises! I guess I’m a workout adrenaline junkie.
Abby says
I’ve never tried LiveFit, but I did the Best Body Bootcamp and I wasn’t a fan! The exercises had me in the gym for a very long time and I got frustrated with how they worked.
I prefer doing elliptical workouts and targeting a body part using a video from Tone It Up or Blogilates. 🙂 Everyone’s different I guess!
Katrina says
If you need some circuit training inspiration I can recommend Valerie Waters (here on pinterest for example: http://pinterest.com/ValerieWaters/a-list-look-exercises-with-valerie-waters or I liked this workout from her blog: http://valeriewaters.com/2009/05/12/rachel-nichols-event-day-workout/)
Or what about Crossfit? 🙂
Lily @ Candied-Life says
my friends from home in florida are so over the weather!! but they are having a hurricane party tonight haha wish I was going to join them.
there is a bit of rain in NYC but it’s just cooling us off up here so it’s welcomed.
your breakfast looked delish! love that J mug
Meghan @ After the Ivy League says
The rainy weather made its way up north today! We’ve had a pretty bad thunderstorm this morning and almost lost power at the office!
Lisa says
Have you seen Gina at Fitnessista- she’s doing a summershape up right now. I enjoy her workouts. I hear you about the rain; I live a couple of hours north of you. My pool is full!
Caralyn @ glutenfreehappytummy says
aww Sadie:) and that breakfast looks delicious! yum!
Emily @ Glitz Glam Granola says
Aww Sadie does look fed up!! Hopefully you guys will get that Florida sunshine back soon!! And I’ve never really done strength training but I think it’s time for me to give it a shot!
Emily Butler @EmilysHomestead says
I LOVE my silicon muffin cups, they are great for baking with less fat than your normal baked goods, they pop right out! (Unless you do something majorly wrong! haha)
Samantha says
Ha, we have so many similar things. I have those same exact heart-shaped muffin cups. Love them.
Cara says
Oh my God!!! Please send some of that rain our way. I live in Northern Colorado and it burning to pieces. The fires are so bad and the smoke is awful. My dogs and kids are cooped up inside because of the air quality.
I really really want to like yoga and zumba, but can’t get into either. What is super funny is that I am a ballet dancer, so all of my friends swear by both. Keep trying, but it just ain’t happening. HAH!
Stephanie @ Legally Blinde says
Random question – have you had more of your peanut buttercup coffee? I was wondering if it had grown on you yet!
Georgia says
Oh my gosh…P90x. Whyyyyyy did I buy that?!
I’m slightly jealous of the rain. The weather is always the same in l.a. 😛
