This morning I was not in the mood to workout.
My body wasn’t tired. I felt energetic. But mentally, I just wasn’t there.
I told myself to suck it up and used one of my favorite exercise mantras, “I’ve never regretted a workout,” to motivate myself to just git ‘er done.
For some reason I’m having a harder time motivating myself to workout on days when I am solely doing cardio. I much prefer strength training.
I think I just need a goal to help me to rejuvenate my cardio workouts. Good thing the Savannah Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon is on the horizon. Once I begin training for that bad boy, I’m thinking I’ll get a little pep in my step again.
Today’s workout looked like this:
- 20 min. run
- 5 min. incline walk
- 25 min. elliptical
Done!
Growing Up
Around lunchtime today, I met up with Ryan at a local bank to do something BIG.
Peanut Butter Fingers got its own bank account today. The blog is growing up!
Up until this point, Ryan and I have paid for all of my blog-related expenses out of our own account, but for tax and bookkeeping purposes, setting up a separate account solely for blog-related expenses made a lot more sense. (I hope to discuss blog-related expenses in an upcoming Blog Talk Tuesdays post all about money.)
Opening up a small business account took a lot longer than I expected and Ryan had to get back to work while I continued to fill out paperwork and wrap everything up. After nearly two hours at the bank, I left with a brand new PBF card!
After leaving the bank, I drove to the realtor’s office to drop off our deposit and “key fee” (<—totally bogus charge) before heading back to the hotel for lunch.
Lunch
My stomach was screaming for food by the time I sat down to eat.
I made myself the same watermelon, feta and arugula salad I enjoyed yesterday and ate it along with a Clif bar I nabbed from Ryan’s protein bar stash.
I usually save protein bars for times I need food in a pinch and today definitely felt like one of those times.
My stomach wanted calories, carbs and protein and the Clif bar delivered.
Time to cram a few more hours of work into this day. I didn’t anticipate a two-hour adventure at the bank and I feel a little behind with a project that is due today. I’m off!
I’ve been wondering about how you keep up with all of the different expenses!
I also would love to hear about how you get product offers and ask different places if you can review products on your blog. That would be a helpful topic for the Blog Talk.
I agree – I’d love to hear more about those topics as well!
i will DEFINITELY be covering that on another post! 🙂
Yay! I’m looking forward to that 🙂
I love money management posts! Can’t wait to hear more about how your managing your small business.
Congrats on the big bank card Julie! Did you get one with a photo – maybe of Sadie or you and a PB finger swipe?! Thanks for writing 🙂
You have totally helped me get motivated with your workout mantras, but I know how it feels to just not “feel” it. I wrote all about it here: http://chicagocuisinecritique.blogspot.com/2011/07/hour-out-of-your-day.html
You are definitely inspiring the rest of us, so just remember that when you’re working out. I’m sure it will help. And yay, for your own PBF bank account. Very exciting! 🙂
I totally second that! Congrats Julie!
This will be a really interesting topic! I look forward to reading what you have to say about it.
Congrats on the new bank account! What a huge step! All us readers are really proud of you Julie! :]
The new lemon builders bar is delish if you see it. So is the cookies and cream luna bar. Yum!!! I always have one stashed in my purse for emergencies.
Agreed on the lemon, it’s the best!!!!
Congratulations! Very exciting.
As a new blogger, I have been loving your Blog Talks! So helpful and interesting!
Oooh, please post something about blog expenses and how you handle the money side! I love reading posts about that.
Congrats on the new bank account! I still haven’t made that jump although I should have. I think never staying in the same place for more than a few months has put me off making the business side of blogging more official.
That’s so exciting that PBF got it’s own bank account!! 🙂
How cool to have a PBF bank account!
I used to love Clif Bars until I realized how full and bloated I felt after eating them 🙁 No more!
Yes, please blog about how you do taxes with blog income, etc! And if you’re freelance writing falls under PBF Bank? Or directly to you?
Congrats on your new PBF card 🙂
Awwww so FUN! Yah for small businesses 🙂 Yours is going to flourish, I am sure!
I had another huge salad for lunch today too—gotta keep that body hummin’, ya know?!
COngrats again, that is HUGE news!
I definitely prefer strength training to cardio! congrats on officially becoming a small business 🙂
Ohhh will you get a credit card that says “peanut butter fingers” on it? That would be so funny!
ryan now i have a card that says “TEMPORARY CARD” but they’re mailing me my official card which i think will say PBF! 🙂
Watermelon and feta sounds like a great combination! Exciting news about the bank account. I’d definitely love to hear some more details on blog finances!
How exciting! Your very own PBF bank account! Congrats girl – PBF is going places fast!
Congrats on getting the banking stuff accomplished!!! 😀
Did you like the clif bar? I saw some of those in the store and was wondering about them! I loove Clif mojo bars and luna bars, but am not a fan of traditional clif bars….
it was pretty good! i actually REALLY like the clif lemon bars that ryan buys sometimes.
Haha “Insert bogus charge here”. Perfect. I don’t know how places can have these “fees”…honestly!
Congrats on the Peanut-butter bank. 🙂 That’s just fun to say. Instead of “money in the bank”…”PB in the bank”…like that old rap song. haha.
Have a good one, Julie
You are like me…if lunch isn’t broke…don’t fix it. It also dosn’t help that watermellons are huge and can be used in many many feta salads. Good thing they’re delish.
Congrats! And I’m looking forward to your post about blog expenses…especially about all the money that’s put into it and how much you can potentially earn from it too! 🙂
Wow that’s awesome! Congratulations on the business bank account! You’re making strides there little lady 🙂
Never seen this kind of cliff bar before! wow 20g? pretta impressive 🙂
Oh and I meant to mention, my hubby loves those Clif Bars too…I don’t know what it is about them but so many men really do like them.
Have you or Ryan tried the Vanilla Almond flavor? Now that one is good!
So cool about the bank card! Yeah!
I’ve tried having protein bars as meals and I never feel satisfied after eating them. Mentally, they feel like snacks or dessert, so I always end up eating something more “mealy” later. So not good for calorie control!
Congrats on setting up the small business account. That’s awesome!
My husband and I are running the half as well (although clearly not together… I could never keep up with him)
Aaaand I have two questions:
1.) Have you decided on a training plan yet? 2.) Do you have any specific goals for the race?
This will be my first half and I’m kinda freaking out. Basically, I don’t want to look like a straight up dumbass.
oh so exciting! ryan is running it with me as well. 🙂 here’s the plan i followed last time: https://www.pbfingers.com/2010/06/17/my-half-marathon-training-plan/
i’ll prob follow something similar this time around, but i’m not quite sure yet. i’ll definitely share it on the blog!
The bloggy is all grown up!
Wow, that’s exciting! Congrats … sounds like the blog is really blowing up!! 🙂
I did your cardio circuit workout today! My legs were dying during the mountain climbers and high knees haha
Wow! Congrats on your grown up blog!:)
Oh wow that’s exciting congratulations!
I love your Blog Talk Tuesdays, as a new blogger I find them so useful!
That salad looks delicious! Interesting stuff opening a bank account for your blog……you are kickin’ but with your blog! Congrats!
I’m happy to hear that you’re writing a money post—I was actually going to request one!
That salad looks familar…lol Congrats on the bank account!! Next think you know PBF will be eating dinner at five o’clock and wearing dentures, lol
I love your blog name! I have been reading for awhile now but decided to comment today since we are both attending HLS and obviously have a love for PB! have you tried any of the other builders? The peanut butter is actually pretty good but I am still a regular Clif Bar and Clif Mojo lover at heart…white chocolate macadamia nut is pretty my heaven!
Congrats on the bank account, big step!
Congrats on the big step with PBF! Along with many others, I love you site, keep giving us good stuff to read 🙂
Julie, are you going to the HLS? I am speaking in one of the breakout session on Budgeting for a Healthy Lifestyle and I think people would benefit so much from hearing about managing finances solely for your blog. I don’t know much about this aspect though. Perhaps you could answer some questions in this session?? (Only if you plan on going to this breakout, I don’t want to pressure you)
hey lauren! i’ll definitely be there. i’d love to meet you! i actually was planning on going to the recipe session at that time b/c i really do need a lot of help in that area. :/ i’m sorry! i really would love to be of help! good luck in your presentation!
Congrats on PBF getting a bank account 🙂 I love the blog talk Tuesdays and can’t wait for the next edition.
Congrats! I do ll the blog stuff mainly through our personal account, but use my paypal account too.
Clif Bar=love. I had one of those Builder bars became dinner for me once upon a time when my only option was lamb curry or vegetable curry, and since I 1) don’t eat baby animals, particularly cute fluffy ones and 2) I really, really hate curry, Clif Bar came to the rescue! Such a better option that night haha.
Clif Bar Crunch Bars, however, are the greatest snack food…ever. I’m freaking asking for boxes of them for my birthday because I’m so in love with them (and can’t find them ANYWHERE in stores 🙁 )
That’s so funny – I’m the EXACT opposite. I only like cardio and dread the strength training days! We need to be half of each other and we’d be complete 🙂
Good to know about the Clif Builder bars – I’m a huge fan of the regular Clif bars but have stayed away from the Builder bars because I’d never heard anything about them and wasn’t sure I’d like ’em.
That is great that you are in a position to have a PBF Bank account that will actually contain $$! 🙂 It’s amazing what a few hard years of blogging all the details of your life will amount to!
Congrats on your blog growing up!!!!!
I’ve been trying to find a good running mantra lately. I’m just so unmotivated.
Yayyyy for Savannah RNR training!! I started training about 2 weeks ago (doing the full!). It’s brutal w/ the heat! When do you start training?
i knooow. i’m not looking forward to long runs outside! eeh. i plan to start training at the beginning of sept. – maybe the end of aug.
Wow congrats!! What a huge step for your blog! Go girl!!!
Wow that’s a massive step, congrats Julie!
So exciting to have your own bank account for the blog!! Reading about steps like this really inspires me 🙂 You deserve all the success that is coming your way!
Oh, how exciting that the blog is growing that big! Congrats and wishing you continued success! 🙂
