Gift Guide for Fitness Lovers
Budget Finds Under $50
- Ear Buds
Maybe it’s just me, but I seem to misplace my ear buds at the same rate I misplace bobby pins! A new pair of ear buds is an affordable gift many fitness enthusiasts will likely appreciate. If they already have a pair, an extra set of ear buds might still be desired so they can leave a pair in their car or gym bag just in case they forget their usual pair of ear buds at home on their way to work out.
Favorites: Yurbuds, MEE Audio M7P Earbuds (<—These are a bit of splurge but they are AWESOME and offer Bluetooth capabilities, volume control, etc.)
I discovered this stuff around the same time that I began using Rose Hip Seed Oil and it’s fantastic. A simple spritz of this stuff on my face after a workout or right when I get out of the shower leaves me feeling amazingly refreshed. I think this would be a lovely stocking stuffer!
Favorite: Amaki Skincare Rose Water Hydrating Mist Toner
- Dry Shampoo
Okay, this might be a weird gift to give someone, but if you and your friends talk about dry shampoo like it’s the best thing in the world like me and my friends do, it might be appreciated! Spring for a quality brand because we all know dry shampoos aren’t created equally!
Favorites: Living Proof Dry Shampoo (I swear by this!!!), Klorane Dry Shampoo
- Athletic Socks
A cozy pair of quality athletic socks are an affordable gift I always appreciate!
Favorites: Bombas (Ryan and I both LOVE these!), Thorlo Experia Crew Socks
This is a great gift for the runner in your life who wants to bring some things along with them on their run but doesn’t want to have to carry anything. I love my Roo Sport Running Pocket and think it does a great job of holding everything from my iPhone and house key to fuel on long runs!
Fitness Splurges $50+
- Pretty Cosmetic Bag
Is it just me or do you guys love a beautiful cosmetic bag, too? A nice cosmetic bag is something I would never buy for myself, but if someone gave it to me as a gift, I would absolutely love it! Fitness friends might enjoy this gift if they shower at the gym and have to pack their makeup and toiletries to bring with them every day.
Favorites: Kate Spade Glitter Bug Cosmetic Case, Tory Burch Nylon Cosmetic Case and check TJMaxx and Marshalls for more cute, affordable options!
- Massage or Pedicure
I’m fairly certain most people who work out regularly (and most people in general) would love a massage as a holiday gift this year! Whenever I receive a massage as a gift, I am always way too excited to have someone massage my sore muscles, especially since I am very unlikely to purchase a massage for myself. If there’s a runner in your life, they may also love a pedicure, especially after a big race when their feed likely need some TLC!
- New Leggings or Crops
I am kind of addicted to workout leggings, as are most of the fitness lovers I know in my life! With so many cute options featuring fun patterns, flattering fits and functional style, it’s easy to find a quality pair to gift to a fitness enthusiast in your life!
Favorites: Athleta Chaturanga Tights, Fabletics Lace Leggings, Splits59 Leggings (A Pure Barre favorite!), Old Navy Compression Leggings (<—Budget find!)
- Pullover or Hoodie
With the colder months upon us, I am finding myself living in hoodies and pullovers. They’re so darn comfy and I think many fitness enthusiasts would agree that you can never have too many cozy hoodies, pullovers or zip ups! They’re great for both outdoor workouts and comfortable loungewear.
Favorites: Athleta Hoodie (<—Updated version of the Athleta hoodie jacket I have and love), Reebok Yoga Burnout Hoodie (<—Updated version of my favorite yoga hoodie), Zella Half Zip, Old Navy Funnel Neck Fleece, GapFit Printed Pullover

Oooh yes! A massage sounds wonderful!!! Love that heartrate monitor too. I purchased a Fitbit a couple of months ago without the monitor, and now I regret not getting the heartrate one!
Melissa @ girlchasingpavement says
Living Proof dry shampoo is the best!!!! I go through so many sports bras and sometimes I feel awkward asking for them from family members, but if I’m being completely honest, it’s what I need most!!!!
Julie says
Isn’t it amazing!? Hands down, the best dry shampoo I’ve ever tried. I LOVE it!
Heather @ Polyglot Jot says

That cute Kate Spade cosmetics bag is on sale on Bloomingdale’s right now – cheaper than your Nordstrom link! 🙂 FYI! It’s $42 at Bloomies! Such cute ideas!
Julie says
Sweet! Thanks for sharing!
Sara @ Oats & Rows says
I have that Athleta hoodie (in turquoise) too and LOVE it!
Jessie M says
I do pay for myself to get massages regularly. But I would LOVE that as a Christmas present still.
And I’m still on the fence about that Columbia vest. Looks like it would be a winner, but I really don’t love any of the colors. So I’m still on the hunt for a vest that I can wear working out, or toss on with a flannel & pair of jeans.
Don’t have any good suggestions, but do love these gift guides!
Georgia Mae says
Ummmmm. I want all of these things. ahhh!!! Directing my family here when they ask me what I want for Christmas!
Ginna says
For Gifts That Give Back, the Akola Project has beautiful statement necklaces that help empower women globally! http://akolaproject.org/ I think Monkee’s in Davidson carries them!
Jessica @ Semi-Sweet Tooth says
How bad is it that I’m still in “those-leggings-are-everything-I-need-a-pair” mode rather than being in the process of gift giving? I need to get on board, stat… it’s Giving Tuesday, after all!
However, I am celebrating with a PinkBlush giveaway on SST. That counts, right?
Thanks for the tips!
Jena says
Where do you get your sparkly headbands? I love them!
Julie says
SparklySoul and BICBands!
Brianne says
Me to We is an innovative social interprise, a division of the Free the Children organization! Each beautiful gift is ethically made and creates change in communities around the world! Their products are so gorgeous, a personal favourite of mine are the Rafiki Bracelets, each colour bracelet is linked to a certain cause, and the proceeds go towards each respective need. They also have a gift guide on their website! metowe.com
Alyssa @ renaissancerunnergirl says
Donating to a charity in someone’s name is always a good gift that gives back, but I think one of the nicest things you can do within a family is for a grandparent to give a grandchild the “gift” of making a charitable gift together. Sitting down with them during the holidays, talking about why giving back is important, and choosing somewhere to volunteer together or give money to. Not your typical “gift that gives back” but something very meaningful.
Somer @PupsOnTheBrain says
Oh yay, I love your gift guides! You come up with the most thoughtful and useful stuff 🙂
Somer @PupsOnTheBrain says
Also (sorry for the two comments), since you said you’re looking for items to add to your Gifts that Give Back post, please consider checking out the bracelets and necklaces being sold by an organization at my veterinary school, here: https://www.bravelets.com/bravepage/safe-st-kitts. My school is located on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts, and SAFE (Saving Animals From Emergency) takes in stray or surrendered animals in dire situations, rehabilitates them, and then helps find them loving forever homes. During the holiday season $20 from each item purchased will go directly toward helping these dogs and cats (that’s more than 50% of most items!).
It’s a small organization, but I know you’re a fellow animal lover and this is a great cause!
Julie says
I’ll absolutely include it! Thank you for sharing!
Melissa says
Check out S’well Bottles… awesome bottles that keep contents cold for 24 hours or hot for 12 hours, don’t sweat (so you can carry in your purse, gym bag, etc.), and are available in a variety of sizes and colors.
The company is partnered with and supports Unicef, American Forests, and Drink Up, aiming to help reduce the number of plastic bottles produced and disposed of and to provide clean drinking waterfor those in need.
They’re the best! I’m told they even can help maintain carbonation, if you wanted to use it for champagne or something :]
Julie says
Awesome!! Definitely including them!
Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me says
I’ve been obsessed with vests recently, and I didn’t even think about using it for a run! Here in San Diego, it never gets too chilly, but right now, it’s cold enough that a vest would be perfect! Thank you Julie for the idea! 🙂
Torry @ A World Without Wheat says
Great ideas! I am asking for new leggings for Christmas – I wear them everyday and I am just in need of some new ones.
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
I go through ear buds like crazy! I have no idea what I do to them, but they never seem to last longer than 6 months or so.
Taylor says
I will have to try that dry shampoo! I use dry shampoo like it’s going out of style… I think I am on day 5 of unwashed hair… ew! lol I love getting my sister/friends workout clothes for holidays/birthdays because I know they will use them. I also frequently give manicure/pedicure gift cards as it is such a nice treat to pamper yourself. Thanks for some great ideas!
Maggie says
Headbands for Hope (http://www.headbandsofhope.com/) and Thistle Farms (http://thistlefarms.org/) are great for gifts that give back!
Carrie (This Fit Chick) says
I’ve heard SO much about that dry shampoo! Got it on my list to get!!
Stacey says
Julie,
For your “gifts that give back guide” Check out Happy Blankie. When you purchase a blanket they donate another to a child in need. This is my go to baby gift for a lot of people, they will monogram or embroider too. This would be a great gift to anyone having a baby around the holidays or for kids. The story of how it started is super cute/cool. Please check it out!
Julie says
Thank you for sharing! Definitely including this in my gift guide!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
You can never have enough leggings…or at least I can’t!!!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
I think I have several of these things on my Christmas wish list! FOR SURE a new pair of tights! Lululemon Wunder Unders are calling my name 🙂
Melissa says
Such great choices! I LOVE that Athleta jacket! It’s so stylish and a great color!
Kate Lambert says
Great list!
I work with a Canadian program called Pearls4Girls (http://www.pearls4girls.org/) – it would be amazing to include it in your ‘Gifts That Give Back’ guide! We sell freshwater pearl jewellery to raise funds for girls’ leadership programs in southern African (particularly for Lesotho, the country with the world’s 2nd highest rate of HIV/AIDS – fitting since today is World AIDS Day). The programs are helping girls learn how to make healthy decisions – such as delaying marriage, avoiding teenage pregnancy, and preventing HIV transmission.
We sell a wide range of jewellery, but our Signature Bracelets would be a great fit for your guide (http://www.pearls4girls.org/categories/Bracelets/)! These bracelets are made on elastic and come in a range of colours – white, light pink, or ‘dark’ pearls (they aren’t quite black!) Each bracelet comes with a card that explains how the program works – making it perfect for a gift that gives twice.
Thanks!
Meghan says

I’m hosting a group for moms starting in January. It’s an online 3 week group of women supporitng one another, checking in with daily workouts (workout videos and running plans included) and daily readings and devotions for our faith. I think gift packages like this one help a woman go into the New Year with so much more than focusing on changing our bodies. Just thought I’d share with other women : )
Kristin says
That hoodie from athleta looks so comfy!!! Must have!
Deanna says
Just what I was looking for. The ear buds and athletic socks are wonderful. I will have to pick me up a few pairs.

Hi Julie, I’ve followed your blog for a couple years now. I work for a non-profit in Haiti called Haiti Babi and we would be honored to be part of your Gifts That Give Back gift guide! Haiti Babi hires women to hand knit and crochet baby hats and blankets. In Haiti one in ten children lives in an orphanage and 80% have living parents. Unemployment is a major problem so parents feel that they have no choice but to leave their children in an orphanage. Haiti Babi aims to solve this problem by hiring women so that their children can be where they belong- at home.
