My mom is one of my favorite people to shop for around the holidays. I typically have no trouble selecting gifts I think she’ll love… It’s not buying her a billion things that’s the hard part! Well, now that I’m a new mom, I’ve found myself bursting with gift ideas for moms of all ages and figured I’d round them up in a new gift guide this year catered to moms or the women in our lives who are just like mothers to us!
I think most women would love any of the gifts below – not just moms – and I really hope something pops out at you for a loved one this holiday season.
Happy Holidays, my friends!
Gift Guide for Moms
- Plush Robe and Slippers
Perhaps it is just me, but I am not all that likely to spend a lot of money on a high-quality robe and slippers but they’re both something I wear nearly every single day. Springing for a beautiful plush robe and cozy slippers for mom might be the perfect gift for the mother who loves wrapping herself up in a robe and slipping into warm slippers but likely wouldn’t spring for a luxe version of either for herself.
Robe Favorites: Anthropologie Plush Sherpa Robe, Victoria’s Secret Cozy Long Robe, Gap Sherpa Robe, Natori Sherpa Robe
Slipper Favorites: TOMS Slippers, UGG Slippers (I’m coveting these big time!)
- Nice Diaper Bag or Tote
Growing up, I remember my mom always magically had everything I could possibly need in her bag. Hungry? Mom had a snack. Runny nose? Mom had tissues. Fell and scraped you knee? Mom had a bandaid. I think a beautiful new tote bag (or a quality diaper bag for new moms) would make a lovely gift that’s also quite practical for everyday use.
Tote Favorites: Longchamp Large Le Pliage Tote (Love this for travel), Hayden Reis Tote (Great option for moms who want a great tote for everyday use, the pool/beach, etc. You can get them personalized, too! We use Hayden Reis bags as our “boat” bags.), Tory Burch Buckle Tote (A gorgeous classic bag), TOMS Khaki Woven Tote
Diaper Bag Favorites: SICK Bags (I have the light gray Coxsackie bag and love it), Marc Jacobs Diaper Bag (I just ordered a patterned version of this one on sale thanks to a gift card I had on hand because I wanted the outside pockets for bottle transportation), Kate Spade Diaper Bag (I have two girlfriends who adore this one)
- Initial Necklace or Zodiac Necklace
I love the idea of a delicate gold necklace with a mother’s child’s initial or zodiac sign on it as a special holiday gift! (For moms with two kids, double up on the initial charms. Such a cute look!) I’ve seen so many different variations of simple initial necklaces that are absolutely gorgeous and think a child’s zodiac sign might be a neat alternative.
Favorites: Kate Spade Initial Pendant, Dogeared Zodiac Necklaces (You can never go wrong with gorgeous Dogeared jewelry!) and there are lots of gorgeous initial necklaces at all price points on Etsy (this tiny gold initial necklace has great reviews and is only $27 and I love the look of this sideways initial necklace),
- Coffee Travel Cup
From what I’ve heard, the Yeti cup is the best thing going if you want beverages to stay hot or cold forever, but they’re sold out everywhere this holiday season. (This is way too appealing to me now that I’m a new mom and reheat the same cup of coffee at least three times every day… And still rarely finish it!) Just in case you don’t want to wait for the Yeti cup, I’ve also heard great things about S’Well Bottles’ ability to keep beverages hot and cold for a long time. (<—They were also featured in my Gifts That Give Back Guide Guide this year!) And there are also tons of pretty and quirky tumblers out there for moms who might appreciate something a little more eye-catching!
Favorites: Quirky Anthropologie Tumblers, Starbucks Tumblers, S’Well Bottles
- Mom Tee
I totally drank the mommin’ Kool-aid after Chase was born and absolutely adore mom-themed clothing. I just think it’s too cute! Plus, there are tons of adorable mom tees, sweatshirts and tanks out there right now, so there’s likely a style out there that would appeal to the mom in your life!
Favorites: Mama Bear Tee (TONS of options on Etsy!), Mommin’ Ain’t Easy T-Shirt
The childcare room at my gym is constantly diffusing doTERRA On Guard essential oils that are formulated to support healthy immune systems and the room always smells fantastic! The doTERRA diffuser is on my personal Christmas list this year and I think it would make a great gift for moms with little ones who might be into the whole essential oil craze (or just like the smell of them).
If you know your mom isn’t into using the calendar on her phone, a beautiful paper planner may be a great gift. I absolutely love my Emily Ley planner and think other paper planner nerds like myself would totally geek out over this one. I also know a billion people are totally obsessed with the Erin Condren LifePlanner and I can see why! It’s gorgeous, you can personalize it and there are tons of different options.
Favorites: Emily Ley Planner, Erin Condren LifePlanner

My push present was an “H” initial necklace. I think I’ve only taken it off once since Hannah was born. It’s a little reminder of her when I’m at work
Julie says
So sweet!
Linz @ Itz Linz says
I want an initial necklace! Great ideas! I live in my robe and slippers!
Morgan @ Morgan Manages Mommyhood says
Such great ideas! Forwarding to my poor husband, who has been asking me what I want for weeks. Sorry babe.
Laura ~ RYG says
Mom is the hardest person to buy for on my list! Nifty suggestions ~ in particular I think she’s like a pair of Uggs slippers though a bit pricy. It’s tough because I want to make sure I get her something she can actually use! Since I’m a mom too I would forward this to my husband ~ but I’ve gotten lots of confirmation emails from companies sending stuff that I think is for me. Oh dear! My husband tries, but, you know, some men never quite get it. I really wish he saw this list first!
Julie says
Ha!! The confirmation email thing has happened to me before, too! 🙂
Shel@PeachyPalate says
My mum is the easiest person to buy for…I have too many ideas! It’s my dad that’s the problem usually!
Anita @ Simplyfitspired says
The gift card for a massage is probably the best suggestion! I love these guides Julie, they’re so helpful.
Julie says
So glad to hear it!! Thank you! 🙂
Jessica @ Semi-Sweet Tooth says
The Mama Bear tee is too cute! I’m with you that I essentially buy out the store for my mom. I’m already thinking about her birthday with this list, ha!
Amanda says
I love these ideas! I’m not a mom yet, but I have so many new mommies in my life- thank you for this idea!
Heather @ Life In Leggings says
Those robe and slippers… ahhh I need. Love the Mama Bear shirt, too!
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
Those slippers look so comfy. And that initial necklace is pretty because it’ so simple.

I’m not even a mom and I like all the things on the list–a sign of a good gift guide! I just started using doterra products and was interested to read your daycare uses the on guard (so I guess it really does work). Deep Blue Rub is amazing for sore muscles, too. It’s an essential oil version of bengay. I’d highly recommend!
Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me says
Thankfully, my mom is the easiest person in the world to shop for! My brother and my dad… they are another story. I can get my mom practically anything and she is happy. Love that about her! That initial necklace is right up her alley
Liz says
All these are such good ideas ! I would love all these gifts, mom or not! I really like the idea of using a large tote bag as a diaper bag. That’s what I’m currently doing since I couldn’t find a diaper bag I liked. Although I do wish for more pockets but for now its fine.
Heather @ Polyglot Jot says

Thanks for sharing!

Hoping Ryan doesn’t read the comments section today b/c I definitely ordered us Mama Bear + Papa Bear + Baby Bear tees for us for Christmas this year. It’s party a goober gift, but let’s be real, they’re awesome. 🙂 I mean I know I’ll be wearing mine a lot!

Love your gift guides!

Another water bottle/coffee mug that is amazing is hydroflask. My husband and I got introduced to them when we were in Hawaii. They’re a big hit there because they don’t sweat, so ideal for the beach. They keep cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot for >10 hours. They’re amazing and it’s my favorite one so far. They sell them on amazon, REI and they have there own website as well
Julie says
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Morgan says
So excited that you’re in to the oils! They are so so fantastic for kiddos. My littles ones have been a little under the weather the past week so I’ve been diffusing OnGuard and Breathe like 24/7! So cool that the daycare at the gym uses it too! 🙂 I even use them on my husband. If you haven’t already, check out doTerra’s Touch line – they are roller bottles that have been pre-diluted and are safe to use on kids of all ages. 🙂
Laura says
I LOVE that oil diffuser. I’ve had mine for over a year and swear by it. The On Guard blend is wonderful for this time of year, and you can even apply some to the bottom of your feet to help fight germs. There’s a blend called Serenity that’s amazing for sleep, too, if ever that angel of yours is feeling like a fusspants!
Kaci says
The diffuser is on my list too! I love that you went for it with the Mama/Papa/Baby t-shirts! Ha ha ha!
Taylor says
Love these ideas! I also would not buy myself an expensive robe, but it is so nice to get one! My mom usually buys me a nice pair of slippers for Christmas!!
Liz says
Thank you so much for this post! I have been trying to find my mom a robe for the longest time. She was kind of picky as to what type of robe she wanted and your Bloomingdale’s link was perfect! I found two I think she will like 🙂
Annette@FitnessPerks says
Awesome list! I have that diffuser & use it all day long! Right now it’s diffusing Holiday Joy so our house smells like Christmas 24/7. It’s the bomb. Definitely check out the On Guard Line, Breath, & Citrus Bliss–those are my faves! And Deep Blue Rub after workouts.
I want a new robe–that one is so cute! And I love the initial necklaces. Once we’re done having kids I’d love one!
Vicki says
Thank you! I had been struggling with what to get my mom and found a pretty Starbucks travel cup that I know she’ll like. Thanks for the idea!
Staci says
I’m obsessed with my Marc Jacobs diaper bag. You are going to love it!!

Woohoo!! Mine just arrived yesterday!
