Well, gosh! After all of your “Just do it!” comments on this morning’s post, I bit the bullet and signed up for the Women’s Half Marathon.
Talk about peer pressure. At least this was a good kind of peer pressure!
Just don’t start telling me to smoke ciggies anytime soon, okay?
(Oh how I wish Sadie slept soundly enough for me to mess with her!)
I’m really looking forward to running the Women’s Half Marathon.
Considering I spent nearly all 13.1 miles of the Savannah Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon watching the back of Ryan’s t-shirt and feeling like I was going to die, I’m exited to take this race a little easier and enjoy the challenge of completing 13.1 miles at a pace that doesn’t kill me like I did when I ran the Chicago Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon in August 2010.
Lunch
I was feeling super lazy in the kitchen when lunch rolled around today and fixed myself a simple turkey and cheese wrap on a whole wheat tortilla with an apple and a cup of Greek yogurt sweetened with honey.
Also included in today’s lunch?
I don’t drink diet soda very often, but when Ryan and I saw this at the grocery store on Sunday, I had to pick it up. Double fudge soda???
It tasted like carbonated tootsie rolls… or chocolate DumDums. Quite strange.
And now I’m quite burpy.
I am so excited for you! Half marathons are the best–I love that distance!
Your lunch looks tasty–classic and tasty. Love mustard! Yumm.
I can’t fathom or picture what that soda would taste like! Interesting flavoring, haha. Ohhh that puppy photo is too adorable. And I had a feeling that you WERE just going to go ahead and sign up for the race! 😀
OMG that picture of the dog!!! Fantastic.
Also! Hi! Love the blog 🙂
SO JEALOUS! I want super cool Polar seltzer flavors! They have holiday ones out like eggnog and pumpkin but my grocery store doesn’t carry them 🙁
That dog picture is killing me! I can’t even open my eyes without Tally jumping up to see what I’m doing, let alone dress her all up like that!
Yay congrats! so excited for you!
Good for you on signing up for the race! I know you said that running doesn’t come naturally to you, but two halfs in a month? And one already a sub-2? You’re a runner, girl! No doubt about it!
That dog picture is hilarious! I love pictures of animals doing human-like things.
I just included a polar soda in my post from yesteday (http://www.cookwithb.com/great-finds-from-the-free-table/)! Looks like that company has some pretty crazy flavors in general! The pumpkin pie seltzer was pretty strange too, but I decided I kind of, maybe liked it? I did finish it, after all…
I just grabbed a bunch of the new Polar seltzers too. I’ve only tried the Cinnamon & Pumpkin Spice ones so far. I agree…a little strange but couldn’t decide and kept drinking them. Like that they takes risks, nice to change up the usual raspberry-lime & mandarin orange options.
Double fudge soda?
I will pay you big $$ to ship some to Canada! Oh how I would love to try it!
Yay for the half-marathon! I would love to do another one before 2012 rolls around but once November hits, the long races stop being scheduled in Ottawa (so far as I know) due to the cold and snow.
Make mock egg cream with the soda. Just add milk… It’s good, I promise!
Yayy – good for you!! I’m sure it’ll be so fun.
Double fudge soda – hmm, that sounds like a strange one! At least you’re daring enough to try it! 😉
Wow, that is an interesting grocery store find! I checked out Brigitt’s link above and I agree, the flavours sound delicious (pumpkin pie!!) but a little odd for a carbonated drink!
I try to steer clear of diet sodas (and soda in general), but every once in a while I cave and buy something totally odd like that double fudge soda. It’s just too intriguing not to try! 🙂
What a weird flavored soda! It would be good as a float! 🙂
Good for you for signing up! And I have never seen that kind of soda before. It sounds like it belongs in Harry Potter with all the strange flavored jelly beans!
That’s great that you signed up! I have a feeling I’ll want to do the same once I’m all trained up for a half next spring. Especially doing one where you race hard, and one where you just enjoy the experience!
ooo YAY congrats on signing up!! :)… lovely lunch- simple and easy yet so many tasty flavors!
…probably the best blog sign-off I’ve ever read.
Oooohhh. I want fudgey soda! I bet that would be awesome to in an ice cream float.
I want that soda! I have had white chocolate seltzer made by Adirondack, and I really liked it. It was like vanilla with a hint of chocolate. I definitely did not see that fun flavor at the store yesterday – I’ll be making the rounds tonight!
Here goes another one! Exciting for you! I’ve never ran an all womans race but want to so badly. I would love the San Fransisco womans 1/2 but it’s so hard to get into!
WOOT! Race peer pressure can be fun, huh? That’s how I’ve signed up for every single race so far! Haha
I’m so jealous your running in St.Petersburg! I would love to have ran that race but flight tickets from Wisconsin to Florida aren’t on the cheap end right now! Have fun 🙂
I signed up for my FIRST half marathon today!!! Go us! I’m nervous and excited 🙂 Are you going to post your training plan?
woooo! good luck! since this half is in two weeks, i’m not really following a set plan, but you may see my past training plan here: https://www.pbfingers.com/2010/06/17/my-half-marathon-training-plan/
Good luck! I know you’ll do great. I’ve gotta get my hands on that soda!
Yay, good job girl! Sounds like you may have gotten a bigger bite by the running bug after this last race..;) And liquid dum-dums? Interesting..
I’ve tried that soda before out of curiosity and felt the same way…it was weird, but good, but still weird. Probably not something I’d buy regularly. However, someone else mentioned this one above, but I just tried a white chocolate seltzer (by Polar, I think) and THAT was good!
Haha that soda sounds sahweet! 🙂
Congrats on signing up!! I hope you have the best time! And that soda sounds strange. haha I love chocolate but not mixed into things it shouldn’t be. Good for you for trying it though, I want to try more unusual things, i’m the person who orders the same thing from restaurants every time because its what I know.
Whoa..”Double fudge” really threw me off. I love chocolate, but that made me question my love for chocolate..maybe I don’t love it as much as I thought. I’m excited to read about your next half marathon! You’re on a half marathon running kick! Must be really addicting (in a good way)!
Good luck! That’s super exciting. I’m debating whether I should sign up for my first half in FEb!!
Hey Julie!
Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. You always inspire me to get my workout on, and I love how often you post! Good luck with your next half marathon!
thanks so much, jessica!
Yay! I’m so glad that you signed up!! 🙂
That diet super fudge soda sounds interesting! I’m definitely keeping my eye out for it in the store!!
Yay that’s so exciting, glad you signed up! Can’t wait to get your take on running semi back-to-back half marathons.
Yay for another half! I need to register for my next one…
And I wish my dogs slept that soundly too. Oh the pictures I could take!
I love fudge but I seriously think I would throw up after drinking that! haha I’ve heard of a soda brand that puts out Thanksgiving soda and other weird ones haha – too much for me!
Nice work signing up for another 1/2 marathon! You totally rock! You lunch looks good, for some reason a wrap sounds so good to me right now! I also like sweeting up my greek yogurt with honey, it tastes so good! If I ever find that pop anywhere I must try it, my fav candy is tootsie rolls! 🙂
That’s so exciting!! Two half marathons in a month, nice!!
Woo we’re a great group of peer pressure down here in the comments section haha ;D
I am SO pumped for you that you’re signed up and running another half so soon!!!! You’re going to rock it out and I know you’ll really enjoy it. LOVE it girl. More goals are ALWAYS good! 🙂
After running my 15K last saturday I am 99.9% sure I will be signing up to run a 10-miler this saturday too!!!! Your peer pressure post today just might have thrown me over the edge 😉 I’d sign up for a half but the next half in the chicagoland area is in January! Can’t wait!
Well, aren’t you miss Runningpants now! Michelle and I did that race last year and it is REALLY well managed. And SO many goodies after the race that blows away Savannah. You’ll love it. Also, guys can race it, but their time doesn’t count. So if Ryan wants to run with a bunch of ladies…
sweet!!! i take it you’re not doing it again this year?? i’d love to see you!
No, we decided it was too close to Savannah/Vegas and that gets expensive since we need a hotel for all of them. But it’s a good race. Cute medals. And EVERYONE wears pink. Also, running down the pier is a blast.
I hope we will see YOU in Vegas. 🙂
Good luck with your next half marathon, girl! I think it’s awesome that you are doing another one. I’ll be curious how it goes without running with Ryan. I don’t think my husband wants to keep running long distances after we do our half on Saturday … but I can’t imagine running those long distances by myself!
Awesome! Good luck with the race! It makes sense since you’re already all trained & ready to go! 🙂
hahaha oh my gosh that pic of the dog is hilarious!
Congrats on signing up! You will do absolutely great i’m sure!
Your lunch looks very yummy and i would love to try that drink just to experience it 🙂
Congratulations! I have considered registering for the Rock n Roll in St Pete but I know I won’t be ready in time. You rock it, girl!
Congrats on signing up! That’s so exciting! One right after the other, sounds like you’re hooked! 😉
I don’t drink soda much either, usually it’s just because I have a tummy ache and I’m hoping the ginger ale will do the trick.
That double fudge diet soda looks and sounds AMAZING! Sometimes, a little carbonation and aspartame are soo worth it 🙂
I usually love all things chocolate but I’ve yet to try chocolate-flavored soda! I might need to 🙂
Yay! I guess I missed the post before this, but I’m also running the WHM in St Pete!!! This is my first “out of town” race – so hard core 😉
I will be driving up from Naples (2 hours south) Saturday. Can you recommend a good restaurant for dinner and perhaps a good shopping locale???
