As a blogger, I have thousands of pictures saved on my computer. I’ve been trying to get better at deleting the ones I don’t wish to save a little more regularly and when I was organizing photos last night, I stumbled upon a handful of pictures from the past two or three months that never made the blog that either made me laugh or smile thanks to a nice memory attached to the photo. And yes, the vast majority involve Sadie, my favorite little ham.
Here are a few of the pictures in one big photo overload post!
- Sadie Hijacking Baby Bump Pics
Sadie clearly doesn’t want the baby to be the center of attention as evidenced by her desire to be held right in the middle of Ryan taking my 18-week baby bump picture. She’s a needy lil’ lady, that’s for sure. She definitely cracks us up!
I don’t think I’ve blogged about this little gem located right in the middle of downtown Davidson, but it’s such a cute local spot. Everything from their baked goods and quiche to their passion tea (pictured above) and coffee is delicious! I stopped by with my friend Kristen for the first time a few weeks ago when she was in town and have been back a few times since and only have good things to say!
- Missing The First Snow
I was a little bummed to miss our very first snow in Charlotte this year when I was traveling in February, but Ryan made me smile when he sent me this picture. Embrace the cheesiness!
- Awkward Behind-The-Scenes Shots
Oh how I envy the bloggers out there who have professional photographers take their photos for various workout or fashion-related blog posts. Ryan is my go-to photographer and I end up walking away from most of my super-professional “backyard blogger photo shoots” with the vast majority of the photos looking like the wonderfully awkward pictures you see above. Since Sadie has to be in the middle of everything, she never makes snapping a quick photo easy, that’s for sure!
- Meeting Leah’s Baby
My entire trip to Chicago at the end of February didn’t make it on the blog because the following week I announced we were expecting a baby and things got a little baby crazy! Well, while I was actually in Chicago, things were baby crazy, too, because we had the chance to meet my friend Leah’s sweet 6 month old baby boy for the first time. He was such a happy little guy and that trip meant a lot to me because it really, really helped me imagine what life might be like once our baby boy arrives. Seeing one of my very best friends embrace her new role as a mom wholeheartedly made me feel all the more excited for that time in our lives as well!
- Paddle Boarding
On one beautifully sunny Sunday last month, Ryan and I went paddle boarding on the lake! We took Sadie with us for her first paddle boarding adventure and she did pretty well until she decided she wanted to swim back and forth from one paddle board to the next, completely soaking both me and Ryan in the process. This won’t be an issue in the summertime when it’s nice and warm, but it was still rather chilly outside, so Sadie is banned from paddle boarding adventures until both the lake and outside temperatures heat up a bit!
- Maternity Jeans Debut
Ryan snapped this picture right before we left to pick up my friend Ashley at the airport and head out to dinner a few weeks ago. It was my first time wearing jeans in months (seriously!) and after living in leggings for most of my pregnancy so far, we needed proof.
- Ryan + Sadie
These two are my favorites! Now that I’ve surrendered to the fact that I’ll never be Sadie’s favorite, I can better embrace their ridiculous bond. They really do bring so much joy into my life every single day.

I was in Australia November / December and my boyfriend was in Canada. I sent him a beach “I love you” and he sent me a snow one. Definitely cheesy but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Julie says
Yes!! I hope the cheesiness sticks around forever 🙂
Jennifer says
Awesome post!! Love it! 🙂

All Things CUTENESS!!!!
Honestly, I love and appreciate that you don’t have a professional photographer taking your pics! Seriously – I don’t follow a lot of bloggers, and your personal touch makes me feel like you’re a friend (of sorts) rather than a total stranger that does this for a living. I wouldn’t change a thing 😉
Secondly – I appreciate being the 3rd wheel with dog and hubbs. My step-daughter got a puppy last summer while my husband was recovering from rotator cuff surgery. The two of them would hike mtn bike trails daily and now have a bond like no other. My step might be the owner, but the hubbs is Mya’s master! She will cuddle up to him on the couch and glance at me. To which I say, “that’s a married man” 😉 hahaha! It’s funny and sweet all at the same time. Sometimes you just have to know that you are the third wheel in the group, and don’t make a dog drool in anxiety when you leave the house to go get ice cream…..

You and this post are so darn cute! Question… where did you get the black shoes in the jean pic? I love them!!
Julie says
They’re Nine West and I ordered them on Amazon After I initially bought the exact same pair from Nordstrom Rack in nude. The model is called “Girlsrock” and they’re super comfy!!
Whitney K says
Love the pictures with Sadie! My brother has a vizsla puppy – Hunter – and my family loves him so much. He wants to be part of what everyone is doing all the time! 🙂
Anele @ Success Along the Weigh says
I loved ALL of the pics!
No such thing as cheesy when it comes to love!
Ashley says
This post made me so happy! It’s so fun to see you and Ryan and Sadie bonding and being free and silly together 🙂 I also would echo the above in that I appreciate your personal touch and personal pictures! It makes everything very relatable.
Brittany @ Lemon Lime Life says
Out-take photos are simply THE best! They capture the real moments we live everyday, not just the perfectly posed and polished ones bloggers share daily. Thanks for giving us a sneak peak into what actually happens in the background! 🙂
Natalie @ Never Serious Blog says
That baby is PRESH. And so is Sadie. 🙂
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul says
I love these pictures! Josh is my photographer too! haha

This is a great post! I am so glad you brought out behind the scenes photos. It added a very personal and relatable dimension which is something I love about your blog.

Melissa says
I love those leggings!! Where are they from?!
Julie says
White Plum! They were part of a giveaway post I did a month or two ago! 🙂
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Aw, I think some of the outtakes and “awkward” photos you speak of are some of the cutest!! It definitely gives us a little bit of a behind-the-scenes look at things, and I love that. It shows realness, it shows YOU! Which is one of many things I appreciate from you as a blogger. 🙂
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job says
Love all the photos! I also forget all the pictures I have until I go through my phone and realized I haven’t used a lot of them. This is a good way to get some of them out there. Thanks for sharing!
haley @Cupcakes and Sunshine says
love, love, love your bump! So exciting!
Rachel (LittleChefBigAppetite) says
Oh my gosh, I never saw Ryan’s Guest Post until now! It’s HILARIOUS. I vote for more of them!
Julie says
NordstromRack.com actually has some decent maternity clothes!! I also had decent luck at Destination Maternity & Zulily.com for some staples but up until now I have mostly been shopping at places like target or marshalls and buying normal clothes in larger sizes!
Sara says
Where are you finding your adorable maternity clothes? I’m 15 weeks and haven’t worn jeans for weeks…most maternity stores are so matronly….love some advice!
Hayley @ Full of Life says
Ryan and Sadie always remind me so much of my boyfriend and our dog Fitz. He’s definitely the favorite too and Fitz is the neediest ham ever!!
Annette Perkins (@FitnessPerks) says
Cheesiness is the best in marriage! I adore that he sent that to you!
Maternity jeans are the bomb–why don’t we wear them ALL the time is the question??!!
Julie says
I am wondering the SAME thing! They’re WAY more comfy! I am not sure I’ll ever be able to switch back…
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
Love it! I have so many outtakes from my husband taking my photos for the blog as well! It gets a little ridiculous! Sadie is too precious. She is in for a TREAT when baby boy Fagan arrives!!! And girl, I hope you are backing up your photos to a cloud or an external hard drive!
Melanie says
Great post!! I love seeing the “behind-the-scenes” photos. 🙂
Kristen says
I LOVE all the pictures of Sadie!!! She’s super cute and really reminds me of my puppy (he’s not actually a puppy anymore but I still call him that haha). He always wants to be in the middle of everything too so I can relate to pictures being difficult!!
Megan says
Sadie and the dialogue you share about her cracks me up, and your little family you have exudes so much joy that I can’t help but feel joyful whenever I read your blog!! Thank you for sharing, Julie:)
Danica @ It's Progression says
I seriously haven’t worn a pair of jeans out since I was 9 weeks (and I’m 24 now!). I’m fine with leggings, skirts, and dresses – they’re all comfy – but it would be nice to have a pair of jeans to put on once in a while. I can’t find a pair anywhere that’s really comfortable though..where did you find yours?
Julie says
NordstromRack.com! I ordered the “boyfriend” style jeans & feel like they’re much more comfy the basic maternity skinny jeans!
Danica @ It's Progression says
awesome, thanks!
Dee says
hahhaha the pictures of sadie made my day!!!! thank you for that. Her face is just so priceless….she looks so pleased with herself 🙂
glad you are feeling better!! <3
Nicole @ mymorningrun says
I absolutely love the realness of your photos! Too cute! And Sadie just cracks me up..my Great Dane, Maya is the same way..so needy and so loveable!
Julie says
Great Danes are so wonderful! My parents had one when I was born (Missy) and I am dying to rescue one at some point! <3
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
I need to do a better job of deleting photos and clearing off space on my computer, Dropbox and phone! But these ones you shared are good. And yes, so many photo-shoots turn out awkward hahah! 🙂 But they are much more fun that way.
Rachel @ Blonde with a Chanse says
I love the bump picture with Sadie! So cute! And you are rockin’ those maternity jeans 😉 Super cute!
Melissa says
The photos of Sadie are great! I love taking photos of my dog, Oliver. He’s 13 now and it’s incredible to see how he’s changed and grown through the years. Plus, it gives me a chance to relive all the memories!
Amy says
Skip the professional pics. It makes your blog more relatable. 🙂
Jillian says
LOL That last picture of Ryan and Sadie cracked me up! I have a 3 year old female chocolate lab mix named Roxi. Like you, I have always been 2nd in line compared to my husband for Roxi’s favorite 🙁 I probably should just embrace it as well haha Maybe it’s a girl dog/guy thing??
joelle (on a pink typewriter) says
This is such a cute idea for a post! How do you think Sadie will do with a new baby around? I’m sure she’s excited too. 🙂
Julie says
I think she will be awfully jealous in the beginning but hopefully adjust to her new playmate!! 🙂

klesm937 says
Please do more of these posts! 🙂 just wait until your little guy arrives, Sadie will be hijacking all the pictures! I have a vizsla (I think she’s Sadie’s long lost twin) & she never leaves me son’s side. They’re BEST buddies!
