What better way to start the day than with a little peanut butter?
Using two packets of instant oatmeal from the hotel breakfast buffet, I prepared a bowl of hot oats topped with a scoop of peanut butter.
If only I had a couple of chocolate chips on hand, this breakfast would’ve tasted like a healthier version of peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough. I love the consistency and flavor a big scoop of peanut butter adds to an otherwise bland bowl of oatmeal.
Along with my peanut butter oats, I also enjoyed the top of a blueberry muffin (the tops are the best) and a hard boiled egg minus the nasty, dry yolk.
One of the things I’ve been loving from the hotel breakfast buffet is a new flavor of tea.
I find plain green tea very bland, but the hotel has packets of Bigelow pomegranate green tea that are fantastic! The flavor reminds me a bit of Starbucks’ passion tea.
Speaking of pomegranates, in case you’re a newer blog reader, I thought you might enjoy some flashback links to my first blog-related trip to California to tour POM Wonderful’s orchards and factory. It was a blast and such a neat experience.

And now for some Pinterest talk!
Pinning on Pinterest
When Ryan and I moved out of our shanty apartment in Orlando, we promised each other that we would try to find a place we love to rent in Ocala and would do our best to decorate it and make it truly feel like a home rather than a temporary place to live.
I’ve been browsing through magazines and catalogs looking for decorating inspiration ever since.
Last weekend, I discovered Pinterest, an amazing website that allows you to “pin” pictures from various websites to your own “boards” and I felt like I hit the decorating inspiration jackpot!
Rather than email yourself link after link to pictures of furniture or design photos, you can store all of these pictures in one place on Pinterest by “pinning” them.
Warning: Pinterest is highly addicting.
Aside from home décor inspiration, you can find amazing pictures of anything from organization and craft ideas to fitness quotes, inspirational sayings, adorable animal photos and wedding ideas! You may then sort these photos into different “boards” so they’re categorized and share them with others on Pinterest that follow you. You can also scan boards of people you follow which I did for a million hours on Friday night.
You may find me on Pinterest here.
After eating delicious frozen custard last Friday night, Ryan and I were super cool and spent the evening curled up on the couch at his mom’s house, pinning away!
I pinned picture after picture of decorating ideas for our new house.
Now I just need a bazillion dollars to go out and buy all new furniture and I’ll be set!
Question of the Morning
- What room in a house do you think would be the most fun to decorate?
I am really looking forward transforming our future living room into a comfortable, beautiful and warm place in our new home.
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I think the living room would be my favorite to decorate!!
love that site 🙂

Cait @ Cait hates Cake says
I’m looking forward to decorating our bedroom someday (after we buy a place). We don’t have a bedroom set right now, just a bed and non-matching nightstand. I can’t wait!
angie says
Not only do I agree that the living room is the best room to decorate (we spend the majority of our time there, after all), but I want everything that you put on your Pinterest board. Gimme.
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Now that I work from home, we turned our unused formal living room into my office. It also functions as the place I take pictures of food for the blog since it has the best light. I’d LOVE to do something that ties the two areas of the room together. I’ve been avoiding pinterest for fear of getting sucked into yet another online tool but maybe I’ll have to try it out!
Laura @ Unchartered 20s says
I just found Pinterest last week too! I love it!!
I love decorating too but am severely lacking any sort of budget for large pieces of furniture 🙁
Laura (Cookies vs. Carrots) says
I love Pinterest too! It is so addicting!
Shanna, Like Banana says
I should use this to do my baby’s room — that’s obviously the one I’m most excited about decorating next 😉
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
oh my gosh! there are so many adorable nursery and baby pics on pinterest.
Lyndsi @ Lyndsi and David says
Pinterest is awesome! I’m addicted. I used it to gather ideas for our house, too, and also to find new recipes 🙂
Rachel says
Oh, I LOVE Pinterest!! They have an app for the iPhone too which is how I get my fix during the day. I use it 99% for home decor, but there are a lot of yummy looking indulgent recipes floating around on there too.
I think my favorite room to decorate is a dining room. I feel like it’s one of those places you can have fun with color or wallpaper. Also love decorating entryways! Bedrooms are okay, and living rooms are the worst…so tricky to me.
Lindsey @ SoundEats says
haha I read this immediately after I got done with a little pinterest bender this morning. 😉 We just moved ourselves, and since then I’ve been on it more and more! Off to go follow you!
Kristi says
In my current house I spent most of the time decorating the living room and bathroom. I always find they have the best decorations in the stores for these two rooms.
Sarah @ Simply Dove says
I love Pinterest too! I found out about it only a few weeks ago, and I was seriously addicted! I’ve calmed down a bit since then, but I can still spend hours looking at different things! That’s probably not a good thing though! Haha!
I love looking at different DIY crafts and decorating ideas. For me though, decorating the living room would have to be my favorite. There are just so many different themes to choose from!
Jessica @ Sushi and Sit-Ups says
I would love to put together a dream kitchen! But in the house we’re in, we need a lot more space for that dream. I also only eat the tops of muffins. The rest of it is just never as satisfying.
alyssa - fashion fitness foodie says
i love pinning!! i think the living room is the most fun!
Becky @ Fit Chick on the Fly says
Ahhh!Julie this topic is my life in a nutshell. My boyfriend and I moved into a house exactly a year ago and we are still doing room “make overs!” Decorating is so time consuming and expensive. We have a wonderful two car garage that we havent been able to use because it’s currently our storage unit. Good Luck! Since you work from home a lot I am sure your house won’t take as long to beaut-ify 🙂
Chloe (In Fine Feather) says
Pinning sounds like lots of fun – an also totally addicting! I’ll have to check it out to get some ideas when I move to my apartment.
Decorating my room is always my top priority, but living rooms are also fun because you can think of fun ways to seat people for entertaining.
Claire @ NavigatingNorth says
I need to get on pintrest! My cousin Ruthie does it and she has done a blog about it before!
My favorite room of the house to decorate would be the sun/screen porch (which of course is a MUST for my home!). I can’t wait to get oversized chairs, couches, vintage lanterns, a fire pit in the middle, HUGE ceiling fan and fun decorative rugs! The creative energy is flowing!!
Veronica (Run Write Repeat) says
Ah, you beat me to it! I was going to write a post on Pinterest today 🙂
I’m single, yet it looks like my future wedding will be planned in no time thanks to Pinterest, haha.
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
I love Pintrest!
I’d say either the living room or a guest room.
Gavi @ Gavi Gets Going! says
This is so funny–I JUST joined Pinterest last night so I could have one place to “save” all of my wedding ideas, inspiration, and photos! I’m getting the hang of it and I love it already. I am really looking forward to decorating our living and dining room in our new apartment. We’ve lived in a studio for two years, so this is a huge step for us! 🙂
Ruthie Hart says
I am addicted to pinterest too! We are hoping to buy a house in a year and I am getting so many ideas for our bedroom! It is also fun to keep track of yummy recipes!

Cat @Breakfast to Bed says
I have fallen down the pinterest k hole more than once. I’ll have to check your pins,I believe I follow you. The most fun rooms I have ever decorated have been my two kid’s nurseries. SOOO much fun. And now that my son is 3, his big boy room was a blast! (literally-he wanted all things Star Wars)
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
I don’t like the dry yolks either! 🙂
I haven’t done the pintrest thing yet….
Abby @ Abz 'n' Oats says
I would love to decorate all of the rooms. I can’t wait to have a nice apartment or home once I am done with college. lol. I feel like everything in my life has just been kind of pieced together over my college years. I am ready for a cute and homey place! 🙂

Haha I just joined last weekend and I’ve been following your pinterest. I like your style! And I am SO OBSESSED with that web site by the way. Really bad for productivity, really good for procrastinating 😉
Rosa - Fitness, Food, Fulfilled says
When I bought my townhouse, I remodeled everything (kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, living room) and then decorated all of them myself. It was a huge undertaking, but when I was done, I was so happy with it all. There’s nothing like coming home to a place that is all you, like having your own little nest.
Holly @ Pink Runner says
I just found Pinterest last week and I’m starting to get the hang of it. I can’t even eat oatmeal without PB now! It HAS to be in the bowl! Chocolate PB is the best!
Ashley@myfoodfitnessfun says
Pinterest looks great! Can’t wait to check it out. My favorite rooms to decorate have been our kitchen and living room. Have fun!
Michelle @ Crazy*Running*Legs says
I LOVED decorating my daughter’s room. I went pink (despite saying I would NEVER create a pink room) and didn’t look back. It’s probably the best decorated room in our house! I don’t think she appreciates it.
I’m working on rugs forour new floors right now and contemplating new dining room and bedroom furniture. If only I have $15-20k to spare.
Margo @ peanut butter trees says
The tops of muffins are ABSOLUTELY the best part!! And fav rooms to decorate are my bedroom and the living room! But I also love organizing kitchens 🙂
Kelsey @ a piece of kelsey says
Pinterest is SO addicting!! But, it is such a fun and visually appealing way to organize things as opposed to bookmarking! I found you on there in the midst of your Friday night pinning and followed! I have created a phrase “how pinteresting” that I use as a joke for things to pin. 🙂
I’d love to decorate a living room in a house – not my little apartment!
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
I cannot wait to have my own house so I can decorate my kitchen. I want it to be bright, airy and welcoming- and perfect for baking, of course!!
Lili says
Thanks so much for sharing Pinterest! I had not heard of it before and it looks like so much fun! I think it would be most fun to decorate my bedroom since it’s my own little space

I just signed up to be on the waiting list for an invite to pintrest 🙁 I want to start pinning now!
PS – While watching The Simpsons, I realized that their dog, even though he is supposed to be a greyhound, totally looks like a Vizsla. And I imagine, acts like one too!
Sam says
So sad, I tried to join Pinterest but got added to a waiting list…so I’ll just have to wait until I can really appreciate this cool new website.
Jessica @brighteyesandbushytales says
Wow this site sounds awesome! I’m definitely going to start using t for my wedding planning! 🙂
Paige @ running Around Normal says
I think because of the way my house is set up, the only room that I’m not satisfied with is the bathroom. I always say that I can’t wait to just go nuts building, designing, and decorating our next house’s bathroom!
Jackie @ That Deep Breath says
I think decorating any room would be exciting…with a never ending budget 🙂 definitely the living room and bedroom, though. I think those are super important rooms.
Shari @ Chicago Cuisine Critique says

That’s great for your house with the pool, I’ll cross my fingers for you! I love decorationg, my favorite place to decorate is the living room I think, because you spend much time there.
adriana says
First of all, that oatmeal and PB looks so yummy. Random ques, I’ve heard that PB should be refrigerated after opening as it can contain dangerous bacteria. Is this true??
Second, Pintrest looks so cool! It’s like virtual decorating…I want to try it for some rooms in my tiny NYC apt. Thanks for sharing! I’m fairly new, but I’m really enjoying the blog!
